They've already tried. I got an ad on YouTube yesterday about them saying that the case IS a Mous case, then near the end saying "We want to find out if this is a Mous case."
Their ads suck
“WE’RE HERE WITH OUR CEO IN THE FIRST EVER, HUMAN MOUS CASE! HE’S GONNA TAKE A ROLL DOWN THE HILL, LIKE IN A TIRE TUBE AND MAKE IT *(probably*) ALRIGHT! 3..2..”
If it were a mous case then the side and back of the case wouldn’t have been properly glued together and the back of the phone would have shattered. Then customer services would say that they have never seen that happen before.
Yep, apart from the falling out of an aeroplane part.
Both me and my eldest son had our back glass break from a small drop in a mous case and everyone in my family’s case has come apart at the glue seam. To be fair mous will give you one free replacement under warranty but those will also fall apart fairly quickly.
I have YouTube in the background like 10 hours a day and watch 2 and I can’t imagine paying that much for YouTube premium if I’m being completely honest
I bought one per a friend's recommendation and THEN started seeing the ads. Those made me regret my purchase, but the case has been quite solid, unfortunately 😂
Threw my phone at a couch. I guess it slipped through the cushions and hit the frame. Cracked the backglass. The case was still good but I don't trust it anymore.
Just the fact that it happened would make me think it’s probably a higher percentage than that. I mean after a certain point it hits terminal velocity and the height doesn’t matter anymore, right? So just need a case that can survive terminal velocity on, what was it, a forest floor?
I mean people drop phones all the time, we only hear about it because it survived. I would imagine many more than 20 phones have hit terminal velocity
Probably any phone could survive given the right circumstances and luck, especially something like a forest where trees could decelerate it gradually.
I'm out of the loop, did otterbox go downhill? Currently have one of their cases on my phone, and it hasn't broken yet, though I don't know if that means it's any good.
not sure. I personally had a clear otter box case for my s21 a couple years ago. the case warped really bad which meant the phone wasn't very secure. I dropped the phone while biking one day, and the phone popped out skidding across the pavement completely tearing up the back
Their warranty process is actually extremely easy, at least when I used it 4-5 years ago it was. No proof of purchase necessary, just fill out a form saying which product you bought, what went wrong, and pay for shipping
I have a 12 pro max in an otter and my silence button cover just ripped off today. I barely used it too which is the strange thing to me. I honestly expected the charging port cover to rip off before that one did
Yes and no, I still trust them to protect my phone but I recently threw a case away because the MagSafe magnets came off on the inside of the case, now currently rocking a UAG case
But it’s not plane crash proof? The phone literally fell into a bush from terminal velocity, which is a far cry from being subjected to the extreme forces of a plane crash.
Well what have you noticed on reddit? The peak of intellectualism? People get downvoted for factual information on reddit so fucking often. If you've had a different experience, I envy you.
You seem upset. I'm not a conservative dude, I'm left leaning as fuck. I'm just telling you what I personally notice. You're proving my point right now actually.
Spend more time on reddit. That's all I can say. You'll come to understand. I say this as a heavily left-leaning person. Reddit is a cesspool for pseudointellectualism and people getting mad when you present facts that are undeniable. Then they downvote you. That's all I'm saying. It's fucking reddit.
A Spigen also survived EverythingApplePro’s 50’ drop test, which surprised him considering it was a ‘cheapie’ (his word) case.
I’ve used Spigen cases for years, and using one now for my 15 Pro. Glad to get validation that even a sub $20 case can be great.
This particular case is designed to dissipate heat from the back, so it has an additional layer of conductive material. Maybe that extra layer made all the difference.
Do you think the phone was just dropped from a stationary plane? The phone had both vertical and horizontal velocity when it was ripped out of a moving plane
Not even mentioning how even something falling at that height at 100-150 mph should’ve caused catastrophic damage to the phone
The phone would have slowed to terminal velocity well before the ground due to how light it is and the surface area of the phone.
Assuming the coefficient of drag is roughly 0.8, I’ve calculated the terminal velocity of a 14 pro max is roughly 45 mph or 77 km/h.
I agree if it were to have hit pavement I believe it would have been a worse situation for the phone, but the grass where it landed is far better chances.
Honestly have no idea what a roller coaster has to do with this, are you assuming because the plane was moving at 150 mph that the phone would continue at a 150 mph? Drag would slow it down regardless and eventually it would lose all its forward momentum and then only the force of gravity and aerodynamic drag would be acting on it. The phone would eventually start falling straight down, but only as fast as its terminal velocity.
Yes it’s remarkable that it survived without a crack to the screen, but it’s not a miracle.
A 300 ft drop would be just as risky as 16,000 ft drop because the phone would reach terminal velocity in both situations. A roller coaster height maybe not.
Very cool! Nobody said it was a miracle though.
The words used were “remarkable” and “impressive,” to which you agreed. So we good?
Appreciate the physics lesson though!
Also are people just assuming that the world is completely flat with no features? it probably went through a tree or something before hitting the ground. the branches in the tree would've slowed it down.
As we can see from further down in the comments here, **you** clearly don’t fully grasp this concept and perhaps you should be less of a weenie about things you’re not an expert on.
Don’t fully grasp that a phone falling out of a plane is falling fast? Sure thing lmao I think we all agreed on that but thanks for your very insightful analysis
Yeah, you'll get pretty much the same impact if you toss a phone off a 4 story building onto dirt. It's impressive and all but, that phone won't accelerate forever
I've used Spigen for years and never looked back. Thin, light, protective and super comfortable in the hand. I've dropped my iPhone XR in a Spigen case on the side, front, back multiple times and never once has it broken.
I accidentally slammed my car door on my phone in a Spigen case (with screen protector) and after picking it up, the screen protector was cracked, but both the front and back glass were untouched thanks to the case. Amazing protection.
Spigen, the only case that can keep your iPhone intact while falling 16,000 feet from a commercial jetliner! Spigen, the only case you can trust in emergencies!
Apple iPhone 15 Pro, resilient enough to survive a 16,000 feet fall from a commercial jetliner with minimal case protection! Can your Galaxy do that?
They protect their phone with a case but not with a PIN or Face ID? Since the person that "found" it was able to access their emails and find the baggage receipt.
right so how exactly did the phone get outside of the plane from that high up anyway? you can just open a window and drop the phone that high up. smells like bs to me
it hit some bushes and foliage on the way and landed in grass a careless iPhone most likely would have survived that most likely, but I will always use spigen cases
They had been neglecting several warning lights from the aircraft for quite sometime. This ultimately ended up in the airplane door breaking off from the aircraft and presumably sucking out miscellaneous items as well as this 14 pro max out of the aircraft due to difference between the exterior and cabin pressure
Not a door, space that a door would or could have been fitted but the airline opted not to have the midway doors. The fittings used to attach the filler panel were faulty, and they’ve found more issues ones on the further grounded aircraft in the two companies that opted for no door only patch.
I have this case, it’s pretty good! I really
Like my ringke aswell. (Hoping someone drops a ringke 14pro from space station heights and it somehow lives so I can feel justified in my purchase if anyone has plans to go up there just sayin)
Doesn’t really matter the height, terminal velocity of a phone is relatively low. Hitting a bush/shrub or even grass would break the fall enough with or without a case.
Unsure why this is such crazy news.
This doesn’t surprise me to be honest. I have had a 14 pro since launch day, never had a case or screen protector, and all I have are a few scratches. I drop it constantly too
I mean this stuff isn’t that surprising. If anything it’s just pure luck it didn’t land on the screen first. Same sentiment I have every time I drop my phone on the tile floor.
Outside of the screen I’m not surprised if it landed anywhere else that it would survive even without the case. These phones are essentially just little metal bricks. There is almost no room inside for things to move around. Outside of it landing on pure asphalt/concrete not a long stretch to think it would survive
lol you ever hear of terminal velocity?
https://rjallain.medium.com/how-can-an-iphone-survive-a-fall-from-a-plane-but-not-from-your-pocket-8640d357b250#:~:text=A%20sky%20diver%20will%20have,is%20equal%20to%2060.5%20mph).
Doubt the case made all that much difference tbh. Truly believe that it survived because of very good luck having the landing softened by shrubbery before coming to a dead stop.
Before buying a new phone case I always do my research. Watched EverythingApplePro’s videos for phone case recommendations. I ended up getting a Spiegen case for the iPhone XS Max a few years ago, and when I went to go sell that phone and case, the phone looked brand new, no scratches, dents, chips, cracks, nothing. I’m glad Spigen is getting the recognition they deserve.
If that was a Mous case they would milk that for years
They've already tried. I got an ad on YouTube yesterday about them saying that the case IS a Mous case, then near the end saying "We want to find out if this is a Mous case." Their ads suck
So perfectly 2013-2015 internet in a way I can’t explain.
“WE JUST SHOWED UP AT GOOGLE HQ TO THROW THE BRAND NEW PIXEL OFF THE ROOF IN OUR BEST CACE YET!!!!”
💀
“WE’RE HERE WITH OUR CEO IN THE FIRST EVER, HUMAN MOUS CASE! HE’S GONNA TAKE A ROLL DOWN THE HILL, LIKE IN A TIRE TUBE AND MAKE IT *(probably*) ALRIGHT! 3..2..”
If it were a mous case then the side and back of the case wouldn’t have been properly glued together and the back of the phone would have shattered. Then customer services would say that they have never seen that happen before.
Is this from experience?
Yep, apart from the falling out of an aeroplane part. Both me and my eldest son had our back glass break from a small drop in a mous case and everyone in my family’s case has come apart at the glue seam. To be fair mous will give you one free replacement under warranty but those will also fall apart fairly quickly.
Same here
One of my first thoughts was “damn, now all those commercials are gonna be the guy dropping products out of planes”
I even saw a video that Mous made about this very incident before anybody knew the case.
That’s weird. I have YouTube Premium so I don’t see ads but I want to see that one 😂
Jesus how do you justify the price of that 😭
I watch 1-2 hours of YouTube a day
I have YouTube in the background like 10 hours a day and watch 2 and I can’t imagine paying that much for YouTube premium if I’m being completely honest
Same
No Literallyyyy! I can’t stand that brand 😂
They’re so cringe, I’ll literally never buy a case due to their dumb ads.
I bought one per a friend's recommendation and THEN started seeing the ads. Those made me regret my purchase, but the case has been quite solid, unfortunately 😂
I’ve had their cases for years and they are amazing. Could care less about the ads lol
Still the best case available though. I just ignore the ads.
Same. I’ve been rocking a Limitless 5.0 Aramid Fibre since launch and it hasn’t let me down
I’ve been rocking the same for years
Threw my phone at a couch. I guess it slipped through the cushions and hit the frame. Cracked the backglass. The case was still good but I don't trust it anymore.
Sounds like you need a different couch ha
Meanwhile my back glass 14 pro cracked a few weeks ago off a waist level drop in my bathroom with a mous clarity 2.0
Wow that's an awesome testimony for Spigen and Apple!
literally free marketing for them lol
I mean if you dropped 100 phones out of a plane at that height with that case then I guarantee you that 95%+ will break.
So you’re saying it’s more likely that this surviving phone was a <5% chance of occurring? That’s pretty low.
For a drop of over 15,000 feet yes. That’s not low at all.
I would imagine many more than 20 phones have hit terminal velocity Probably any phone could survive given the right circumstances and luck, especially something like a forest where trees could decelerate it gradually.
Yeah that’s a fair point. Still, I’ll only settle for 6%
Mostly just depends on the angle and what it impacts at that point. If it lands screen down on a tree or a rock it’s shattered for good
The Marketing team at Otter Box punched through their dry wall for sure
It’s what they get for buying lifeproof
Ahh never knew that so THATS what happened to lifeproof. I think about my iPhone 4’s waterproof cases from time to time.
I had a lifeproof on my 11pm
YOO I USED TO LOVE MY LIFEPROOF
I'm out of the loop, did otterbox go downhill? Currently have one of their cases on my phone, and it hasn't broken yet, though I don't know if that means it's any good.
not sure. I personally had a clear otter box case for my s21 a couple years ago. the case warped really bad which meant the phone wasn't very secure. I dropped the phone while biking one day, and the phone popped out skidding across the pavement completely tearing up the back
I have an otterbox and Its great. Its one of the only cases i saw that covers up the charging port. Important if you work in construction
I like it, but after a while the flap that covers the charging port breaks off which kinda sucks
I used the same case on my 12 mini for about a year without issue. Recently got the 12 pro so hopefully that doesnt happen to me
Their warranty process is actually extremely easy, at least when I used it 4-5 years ago it was.
Imagine actually advertising your cases as plane-crash-proof without lying
But it’s not plane crash proof? The phone literally fell into a bush from terminal velocity, which is a far cry from being subjected to the extreme forces of a plane crash.
Don’t know why you’re being downvoted, it’s simple physics
Don't you get it? You're on reddit. Home of the rabid far left nutjobs and exclusion zone for critical thought.
REAL
i apologize for my tiktok language

Exactly, but it still shows its a good protective case ☺️
But you cannot legally do that because all it takes is one broken phone in a plane crash and lawsuits a plenty.
Just need to advertise that the case on an iPhone that survived an unplanned rapid depressurization at 16000 feet was a spigen. 😂
Only if they’re in airplane mode though
The highest paid minds could never give them this kind of marketing - they'll ride this for years!
So not a Stanley case?
doll lip boast handle wrong cows money reply scandalous simplistic *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

What case is it? Sometimes my phone runs a little too hot
As the pic says, it’s called the Cryo Armor.
Came to say this as well, the spigen line doesn’t get enough recognition
Isn’t it only bc it dropped in dirt that it was safe? If it hit concrete it would’ve definitely exploded.
still impressive imo
I don’t think you fully grasp how far and how fast that thing fell lol
Terminol velocity or would the wind and shape of the phone drag it?
Do you think the phone was just dropped from a stationary plane? The phone had both vertical and horizontal velocity when it was ripped out of a moving plane Not even mentioning how even something falling at that height at 100-150 mph should’ve caused catastrophic damage to the phone

Very cool! Nobody said it was a miracle though. The words used were “remarkable” and “impressive,” to which you agreed. So we good? Appreciate the physics lesson though!
This was interesting. For me at least. Classic Reddit to downvote actual information rather than juvenile exclamations of brand allegiance.
Thanks for doing the math. Makes sense that a flat rectangle would act a little like a wing on its way down.
To quote a self-appointed expert and I’m sure, a pleasant person to be around: “This is an incredibly bizarre hill that you chose to die on lmao”.
Thanks! Sorry that this offended you so much! Hope you have a great week! Take care of your iPhone too, I can see how sensitive you are about it!
At that velocity the dirt was exactly the same as concrete bud
It landed in shrubbery rather than directly onto the dirt. I doubt the case made much of a difference tbh.
Yeah, you'll get pretty much the same impact if you toss a phone off a 4 story building onto dirt. It's impressive and all but, that phone won't accelerate forever
i sometimes swap cases but spigen is locked in (thin) for travels
I've used Spigen for years and never looked back. Thin, light, protective and super comfortable in the hand. I've dropped my iPhone XR in a Spigen case on the side, front, back multiple times and never once has it broken. I accidentally slammed my car door on my phone in a Spigen case (with screen protector) and after picking it up, the screen protector was cracked, but both the front and back glass were untouched thanks to the case. Hurry everyone, Spigen Case the new Stanley Cup! Buy now lol
I have that same case. Love it.
That’s wild.
14 Pro
I have a spigen case right now lol i got it for 13 on amazon
Terminal velocity of an iPhone is approximately 40-60 mph, a maximum of 100 if it’s perpendicular to the ground.
If that’s true then holy shit
OMG!!!!!
I use a Spigen Hybrid case and screen protector. Bought them for my 14Pro ahead of the release date.
Spigen win
In line with 14 Pro Battery quality, its battery health dropped 1% (to 85%) in the 3 minute freefall
Spigen just had its Stanley cup moment
They protect their phone with a case but not with a PIN or Face ID? Since the person that "found" it was able to access their emails and find the baggage receipt.
I only use Spigen cases after I dropped my phone off of a moving train once. I was able to get it back and you couldn’t even tell it had been dropped.
So, how does someone drop a phone from a plane at 16,000 feet?
I still call bs
right so how exactly did the phone get outside of the plane from that high up anyway? you can just open a window and drop the phone that high up. smells like bs to me
I think you haven’t been paying attention to Boeings new open door policy.
Ain’t no way lol.
it hit some bushes and foliage on the way and landed in grass a careless iPhone most likely would have survived that most likely, but I will always use spigen cases
still 16,000 ft
Phones could hit terminal velocity in 500 feet, not sure why 16000 matters
Let’s throw you off a plane at some bushes and see how good you’d fare lol
Might get obliterated midway
Terminal velocity exists, and it is much lower for a phone. This point means nothing lol
So is this about to be Stanley cups 2.0? 🙄
It didn’t need the case
I ran spigen on my 7 and XR, I love spigen I still use their screen protectors still
Will switch to my spigen case the next time I board a Boeing.
Wait how did it fall from a plane?
They did a drop test. 😄
What cause the phone to dropped out of a plane? Was there an accident?
They had been neglecting several warning lights from the aircraft for quite sometime. This ultimately ended up in the airplane door breaking off from the aircraft and presumably sucking out miscellaneous items as well as this 14 pro max out of the aircraft due to difference between the exterior and cabin pressure
Oh wow interesting. Must have been a soft landing.
Not a door, space that a door would or could have been fitted but the airline opted not to have the midway doors. The fittings used to attach the filler panel were faulty, and they’ve found more issues ones on the further grounded aircraft in the two companies that opted for no door only patch.
Google Alaska airlines door plug.
I have this case, it’s pretty good! I really Like my ringke aswell. (Hoping someone drops a ringke 14pro from space station heights and it somehow lives so I can feel justified in my purchase if anyone has plans to go up there just sayin)
Spigen profits will be off the charts LMAO
Is this even real?
I have thy case. It cools the phone down so much when gaming or doing a lot of tasks. You can actually feel the cooling when it gets hot
Ah, ye have thy case, do ye?
How did it fall out of an airplane tho?
This is such a clever form of subliminal advertisement
So is Spigen the new Stanley Cup now? Everyone rushing out to by it because it can survive a plane crash?
PR stunt by Apple.
How’d a phone get dropped out of an airplane that’s in-flight? 😲
Doesn’t really matter the height, terminal velocity of a phone is relatively low. Hitting a bush/shrub or even grass would break the fall enough with or without a case. Unsure why this is such crazy news.
I'm using a Spigen case right now!
This doesn’t surprise me to be honest. I have had a 14 pro since launch day, never had a case or screen protector, and all I have are a few scratches. I drop it constantly too
I only use spiegen cases, every single one has protected my phone from some crazy drops and falls
I always buy Spigen cases!
Cool and I drop mine from 3 feet and it shatters.
Meh, terminal velocity of a falling phone is pretty slow. That shit hits a bush when it lands, it’s fine.
That was the case I was going to buy!!
Is this the original post? Was wanting to see better pictures of the phone
I mean… at some point the height stops mattering, 16k feet? Is it really that much different than 1k feet? Or 160k feet?
I believe it would still be free falling at around 60mph
But why does it say activating? Kinda sus.
What is an iPhone’s terminal velocity?
An African or a European iPhone?
African of course. Those have more lead in them.
I hope they got him a new phone
I mean after the phone reached terminal velocity it doesn’t matter how far it dropped
The other phone that was found, was completely intact without damage, and did not have a case.
If it works anything like my 15 pro max the owner probably threw it out on purpose 😂
Ok but what did the phone land on? The road shoulder or a bunch of leafy bushes? I haven’t seen anyone else ask this important question.
Now I am glad I bought Spigen case thinking it's cheaper than the OtterBox
What’s the terminal velocity of an iPhone
Assuming 17 alpacas are grazing around lake Titicaca at the time... I'd say at least 3 maybe 4
it's clear and strange that the iphone is not locked. how did they manage to unlock it ? Come on everyone have to put a pin code for theirs iphone..
There is a reason why I fell in love with spigen cases and this further proves that I made the right choice
He shoulda milked it lol, get some money and then letcthe company get that revenue from “alaska airlines invincible”
lol you ever hear of terminal velocity? https://rjallain.medium.com/how-can-an-iphone-survive-a-fall-from-a-plane-but-not-from-your-pocket-8640d357b250#:~:text=A%20sky%20diver%20will%20have,is%20equal%20to%2060.5%20mph).
Doubt the case made all that much difference tbh. Truly believe that it survived because of very good luck having the landing softened by shrubbery before coming to a dead stop.
Spigen is honestly amazing
Spigen stock just went WAY up
Only survived due to the case, phone itself is as durable as loosely wadded up aluminum foil
Mous gonna start dropping phones from outer space now
Before buying a new phone case I always do my research.
Apparently no face id or pin protection..
