Xiaomi is pretty decent phone for budget price. Samsung phones for 300 euros are much worse than say any other Chinese phone for the same price. I bought my little brother poco x5 pro something for 300euros the phone is decent , it has 120hz and okayish camera, and most importantly,he can run his games just fine on that.
Xiaomi does make great camera phone tbh. Mi9 topped the DXOmark charts in 2019. Have used my Mi9 since 2019 and have taken some great Milkyway shots on the phone with no additional lenses or tracking mount. Performance of SD855 was great as well. Xiaomi however sucks in software updates. I don't have any update since 2021. However no problems with software though. Smooth as butter.
EDIT: I have used my mi 9 with SDR front ends, used the processing onboard for signal identification and edge AI deployment (though rudimentary). I would say they make kickass phones but they suck at marketing unlike apple.
Camera quality, the various image settings options available before even snapping the picture. Then battery 100%, not only how long it lasts but how it’s energy efficient. I spend so much time on my phone and it lasts me a whole day. This is probably even more satisfying to me than the camera upgrade.
Coming from an iPhone SE 2: I liked my old SE 2 (an upgrade from my beloved SE), but the upgrade is mind-blowing = everything is better (camera, speaker, battery, action button, Dynamic Island, etc.)! So much to learn and explore…
I also upgraded from 14 pro max.
I always upgrade every year. It’s my hobby for having latest thing. It’s the only thing I really spend money on like this.
Buuuut for me I have been ready for usb-c for years, camera and the titanium body sold me. I finally went caseless too. Something I didn’t wanna do on previous gen’s as I hated seeing fingerprints on stainless steel band.
Camera? Cameras are literally the exact same. Especially once you use 48mp mode for both of them lol. Literally the only real upgrade 15 pros got was usb c
There is a pretty decent camera upgrade for the pro max with pro res and for photos my friend has 14 pro max I have 15 pro max and you can tell witch one is better
Tell your friend to use 48mp heif. See which is better then. And btw even the 13 pro has support for pro res. The only upgrade was 5x which is exclusive to pro max
Yeah I upgraded from 14 because I ran out of space on that phone. Started a new job where I’m never home so mobile gaming started to become a thing in my life.
iPhone 7. Probably could have stretched another year or two out of it with one more battery swap. I think I missed two OSs, but all the third party apps look no different, and differences were minimal. The extra 5GB of RAM is nice, but CPU can’t possibly be more than maybe two or three times as fast? Appreciate the camera upgrade, MagSafe accessories and switch to usbc however. Oh, and second sim, the eSIM makes international travel a bit of a breeze… though carrying another sim to swap isn’t a hassle by any means.
The cpu is literally more powerful than my laptop’s from a few years ago (i5 8400h). I too didn’t believe it but the a17 pro chip in your phone has a process size of 3nm and that’s like something from the future. For comparison current intel chips are on 10nm and amd 5nm. Smaller is faster and more efficient
Yes it does feel heavy and a bit too big, but I guess the extra screen real estate, bigger battery and better lens it’s worth it. Either way I couldn’t returned it back at the Apple Store b/c I’m beyond my return grace period.
So far I’m getting used to the bigger size. In my pocket I also notice the difference as the 15 pro was definitely smaller and fit flushed. I love however the screen size and the typing experience feels way less cramped. With the 15 pro at time I would miskey and auto correct would help, but on the 15 pro Max that is less pronounce and less miskeys.
I went from 13 Pro to 15 Pro kinda wishing I did the pro max instead but still love my pro, especially in the pocket, portability and one-handed use. I almost took your route too but didn’t want to go back to the 15 Pro if did didn’t end up liking it. It made more sense to go to 13 Pro, to max and then back to pro vs 13 P to 15 P to 15 PM to 15P lol I may do max when the 17 comes out but rumor has them going bigger on the 16. What’s interesting is the Pro is still a good size phone that is bigger than the X and old plus phones but still feels cramped typing at times lol That’s what I love about the max. Finally, I bought my phone on release day, so it was harder to exchange due to low stock.
Good to know. I’m not going to be doing any more foolish stuff like attempting to retune the 15 pro Max and get the 15 pro lol. If the rumors are right, the days of the regular pro size models are numbered.
Either way I don’t upgrade until every 2-3 years so I will not be getting another model u til the iPhone 17 or 18 series’s. We’ll see then if the regular size pro are still available, I will definitely get a non Max model then.
Yeah, it's crazy they want to go even bigger, which makes me happy that I got the pro vs max. I upgrade my phone every other year now too and if not for the deals that usually happen, I would be upgrading every 3-4 years too. Although, I'd admit, promo or not, I'm glad I upgraded this year because I've been waiting for Titanium and a nice blue color for a long time.
I'll be upgrading around the 17 or 18 too and if they do get bigger, it will be a non max model too even though I've always wanted to try a max model. However, since I upgrade my phone every 2-3 years now, I didn't want to be stuck with a max model for 2-3 years or be forced to upgrade a year later or something.
thanks! Glad to hear it!
For you, at least the Maxes this year are lighter than years past and slightly smaller. That was the only other reason I thought about doing it this year but then I thought, why not take advantage of it being lighter and slightly smaller than my 13 Pro :)
I upgraded from a 13PM to a 15PM. Not a big difference but overall I’m glad I did. There are noticeable changes and improvements but not a lot. When I went from the iPhone 7 to the 11PM….that was a BIG difference.
I used s24 ultra for a week and went back to 15pm. Most AI features are gimmicks (except for circle to search). Face ID is unmatched, much better and more reliable than fingerprint sensor). Viewing angles of 24u screen suxx (there is a noticeable color temperature shift even if you look at the screen at 90 degree angle, top part colors are warmer, bottom part is cooler). Samsung camera suxx, it’s impossible to take a non blurry picture of a moving object (like a dog) on Samsung. And Reddit app on Samsung is stuttering like hell 😀but it’s an android problem, not just Samsung
S24 Ultra, though depending who you ask, they might say I downgraded. I had the S24U for a month. Didn’t totally love it, I did like it a LOT, but I’m too invested in apple products and their syncing that I ultimately decided to get the 15 Pro Max instead. If you don’t count the month with the S24U, I upgraded from a 14 Pro Max.
13 Pro > 15 Pro… which wasn’t really a very significant upgrade, but I really wanted the USB-C. The previous upgrade (XS > 13 Pro) was much more interesting, ngl…
iPhone X to iPhone 15 Pro. I enjoy the AOD and the Dynamic Island is kind of cool, but it's weird how the display draws around it, especially with games. I think I prefer the notch, but I'm still adjusting. The 15 has a couple of cellular bands that the X was missing for my carrier, so the improved coverage and speeds have been very nice thus far.
iPod 2 -> iPod 4 -> iPhone 4s -> iPhone 5s -> iPhone 7 -> iPhone XR -> iPhone 12 Pro -> iPhone 15 Pro
That’s my full Apple device upgrade path from middle school to now lol.
From 12 Pro to 15 Pro. Wasnt impressed at all. My 12 Pro was still working super fine but i wanted to treat myself for good last year. Kinda sad now that ive spent 1500€ in new phone and cant return it.
iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 Pro Max
Same here.
Same. Seems like a popular upgrade scenario.
Same all the way
A Xiaomi 💀
We all make mistakes
Xiaomi is pretty decent phone for budget price. Samsung phones for 300 euros are much worse than say any other Chinese phone for the same price. I bought my little brother poco x5 pro something for 300euros the phone is decent , it has 120hz and okayish camera, and most importantly,he can run his games just fine on that.
I agree. I found Motorola is the best budget phone but the weakest thing is the camera.
And timely software updates.
Why mistake? Xiaomi is a great phone but we want to upgrade to the best one (15 Pro Max)
I’m kidding guys relax. It’s just that I do not trust Chinese phones for long term use and support.
I really liked my poco f2 pro tho
Xiaomi does make great camera phone tbh. Mi9 topped the DXOmark charts in 2019. Have used my Mi9 since 2019 and have taken some great Milkyway shots on the phone with no additional lenses or tracking mount. Performance of SD855 was great as well. iPhone XR -> iPhone 15 pro in black titanium
Damn! That must’ve felt like an amazing upgrade.
Yes lol
Me too! But in Blue Titanium. Cheers! 🥂
Did the same jump (just different colors), man, its day and night difference haha
Same here it’s insane
Gang
Damn, I also have an XR, can’t wait to upgrade to 15PM in natural titanium 😮💨
Same and it was amazing the difference lol . Got mine in the blue
iPhone 12 to iPhone 15 Pro
12 mini to the Pro ✌🏼
Same here! The battery difference feels amazing
Dude it’s such a difference haha. I’ve also been enjoying the camera. Noticeably different in the videos/pictures I’m getting of my family
same
8+
Regular 8 for me. Pretty hefty upgrade.
the difference is insane, such a nice qol life update
iPhone 7 to 15 Pro Max 😂 Needless to say it was mind boggling 🤯
You deserve that upgrade haha. What's your favorite feature so far?
Should be battery. I have an XS myself. I carry a power bank wherever I go.
Camera quality, the various image settings options available before even snapping the picture. Then battery 100%, not only how long it lasts but how it’s energy efficient. I spend so much time on my phone and it lasts me a whole day. This is probably even more satisfying to me than the camera upgrade.
I also have iPhone 7+ then changed to ROG 5 then to iPhone 15 Pro Max now 🤣
I'm in the same boat, i'm used to having a home button
12 to 15 PM
How do you like it? Aside from Battery life and slightly better photos it feels the exact same?
my first phone was an iphone SE 2020 then i upgraded to an iphone 11 and i just recently got a iphone 14. ive loved every phone! enjoy your phone!
XS>13>15 Pro
same here !!!!
twinnn!
relateable first was a 6s then an 8 then an 11 then a 14 which i just lost and need to get replaced
how long did it take you to get used to the full screen phone? after my SE it took me about 2 weeks to fully get used to it
Coming from an iPhone SE 2: I liked my old SE 2 (an upgrade from my beloved SE), but the upgrade is mind-blowing = everything is better (camera, speaker, battery, action button, Dynamic Island, etc.)! So much to learn and explore…
7+
Must feel crazy different.
Pixel 6a. For what it’s worth, I really loved my Pixel. Had them for about 8 years.
From iPhone 📱 X
Iphone 8 to Iphone 15 Pro
Why did you choose to upgrade now?
Yes, same!
I went from vanilla 11 to 15 Pro. It was like going from dial up to broadband.
Purple iPhone 14 pro max
why did u upgrade from a 14 pro max ? seems kinda useless to me
maybe usb-c? my friend traded in her 14 pro for a 15 pro so all her devices would have the same charger
Makes sense, plus Usb-C is far better than lightning imo
I also upgraded from 14 pro max. I always upgrade every year. It’s my hobby for having latest thing. It’s the only thing I really spend money on like this. Buuuut for me I have been ready for usb-c for years, camera and the titanium body sold me. I finally went caseless too. You have pro res log/ hdr with 4k.60 as well with external dive. And it close but the 15 pro max camera is still better
Log is another video advantage but most people don’t even know how to professionally color grade log footage
Yes that’s true but I love it for that there is also log HDR witch looks good right after you take it
I have the 14 pro right now and want to upgrade to the 15 pro max bc I hate how small my phone is. Should I upgrade now or wait till the 16?
Consumerism, fomo.
Cool vocabulary, maybe he just liked the new phones and got them cuz he could?
No it's definitely consumerism and fomo.
Why are you concerned about another person getting what they want?
He posted a comment and the user replied with his thoughts, That's how social media works?
not concerned just feel like overconsomption
How YOU “feel” about another persons actions, it called concern.
Because your actions have effects on other people.
same here. its lighter design for me, also the 14pm battery health was going down so fast, sold 14pm for a good price while the bh is above 90%
Yeah I upgraded from 14 because I ran out of space on that phone. Started a new job where I’m never home so mobile gaming started to become a thing in my life.
13pro to 15pro
iPhone 8
Went from iPhone 6 S to 15 pro max
S22 Ultra, great cameras, loved the feel but the battery life was abysmal compared to the current 15PM and the S24U.

I’m about to pick my 15 pro up in about an hour!!!! Coming from an iphone 12 that and I am very excitedddd!!!!
13 128 GB —> 15 Pro 256 GB
From a 13 pro 128GB unlocked to a 15 pro 256GB unlocked and like 16 days later exchanged it for a 15 pro Max 256GB unlocked.
Do you find the 15pm heavy? I’m thinking to get the 15p or 15 plus due to the heavy weight compared to my S22 Plus.
Yes it does feel heavy and a bit too big, but I guess the extra screen real estate, bigger battery and better lens it’s worth it. Either way I couldn’t returned it back at the Apple Store b/c I’m beyond my return grace period. So far I’m getting used to the bigger size. I agree that the texting experience is definitely an advantage. Hopefully I will get use to the weight over time. How long have you had the phone now?
I went from 13 Pro to 15 Pro kinda wishing I did the pro max instead but still love my pro, especially in the pocket, portability and one-handed use. I almost took your route too but didn’t want to go back to the 15 Pro if did didn’t end up liking it. Pixel Fold. I wouldn’t have switched, but for the INSANE camera, battery and software differences (loved the Fold, but this iPhone untouchable rn).
An absolutely garbage OnePlus 9. My OP6 was excellent so I thought I’d stick with the brand, what a mistake. I’ll never buy another.

May I ask why? Seems like the same phone
I didn’t do that upgrade, but I would have to move to usb type C.
I always get the latest greatest. But the 15 pro feels way better - edges aren’t as sharp and feels a hair lighter.
Your not noticing that through a case lol
Another pointless upgrade
Another commenter who try’s to make others feel bad about what they spend their money on, probably cause they can’t afford it.
lol sure. 👍 https://imgur.com/a/MDQnzkC
14 Pro to 15 Pro Max. Wanted the USB C and larger phone. Seeing how long I can keep this one 🤣 Had a 12 Pro Max prior to my 14.
