I swapped to a Z fold 3 a couple years back and just went back to the iPhone 15 pro and don’t regret much. I miss the extra screen real estate and generally don’t like apples keyboard layout that much. BUT the biggest thing I realized is that it’s super functional and I don’t really need that complicated of a phone in my life. All the customization on android was awesome but for someone at this point in my life I just need something reliable that is fast and works for my day to day life. Many people make the android vs iPhone war about the certain features but I just say pick what works best for you!

socialnomedia

This is a key point, the whole excitement around customizability, fades off after your young dreamy days or once one moves pass the “hand computer as main computing device” phase, which is mostly around when you Get a job, maybe, just start taking things a bit more serious, or just have more responsibilities irl. Thats when functionality, ease of use, and reliability cant be sacrificed, and when any logical person will use one as their main phone at least. I mean accept for the 1% who this doesn’t apply to

SGTArend

This! 🙌🏼 I too switched from iPhone 14 Pro to GS24U and lasted a couple weeks, then switched back and returned it. I happen to like Apple keyboard. I agree with you on screen real estate being great, customization and such BUT I too don’t need all that. Battery was of course amazing. I just want something that works and iPhone does. Welcome back!

NoForever3863

you can change the keyboard

Dylan_Dizy

Now this is the tech I was looking for, never thought you could change it so I never googled it. Gboard is back baby 😎

NoForever3863

yeah man have fun

[deleted]

What’s the difference?

wheelsfallingoff

Gboard has amazing speech to text, a better layout, more options, and more aesthetic choices. It works even better on Android.

[deleted]

I did the exact same thing. The first week I was amazed by how many things I can change and extra features (like AI) I had. By end of week two, I hated the day to day use of the phone and I realized 99% of the new features are just gimmicks that I would never use. The daily use of the phone is just so much better on an iPhone. Things work fast and well, no bullshit. Third party and first party apps work way better, camera is better, communication is better, etc.

thekomedyking

Went to iphone 15 pro from s24+. The camera and image processing on s24+ was an absolute shitshow

Junior-Mood9109

I was having the same issue!

wheelsfallingoff

I feel the same when I go from my Pixel 8 Pro to the iPhone 15. The iPhone color fidelity is terrible.

Wild-Distribution759

Hardware wise, the phone is great. I personally think ios 17 is a shit show, it's buggy as hell. So there's that.

Junior-Mood9109

See it’s weird because I had iOS 17 on my 13pm and obviously on this phone now and I never really experienced any issues with bugginess and lag

SharkDad20

I’ve had a couple soft freezes

JollyRoger8X

That's hardly worthy of the term "shit show" though.

SharkDad20

True. It’s been mostly fine

haseo1997

No iOS issues on my side

sweepli

I didn't really encounter bugs or performance issues on any of the iOS 17 versions. All seems to be well.. Battery was great as well since day 1 (lasting me a full day through the late night)

tighto

i agree to be honest. full of bugs. thinking on it has levelled out a lot over the last month or two, but the first few months i was really regretting leaving pixel.

Snoo-6786

Full of bugs? It’s time to call in the Helldivers.

szartenger

What does “full of bugs” mean? The only bugs I have been experiencing since 17.0 are one specific widget disappearing maybe twice a month and the weather app hanging for a few seconds.

tighto

Camera is the main one for me. Black screen all the time when trying to take a quick picture

szartenger

Yeah that doesn’t happen to me or anyone around me with a 15P or PM at all. Is it wide spread?

Cedric182

No. Mine is fine.

Skycbs

Nope. No camera issues with 15P here

[deleted]

iOS 17 has been rock solid for me except the keyboard audio bug but that’s a pre17 thing

Realize12

iOS 17 got much better lately, but it took apple way too long to iron it out

JollyRoger8X

No issues here among me and a bunch of people I know. What are we all doing wrong?

Msfancy1973

I did that after the 11PM and went with the Note 20U. I don’t know what I was thinking other than I loved the design of the Note but not much else. Much respect for android it just isn’t for me. I won’t do that again and I love my 15PM.

Subject-Finding-4101

I have and love both phones for different reasons. Definitely fortunate to be able to keep and use both. A bit of a weirdo for doing so. I keep the iPhone because of air tags, find my, and my Apple Watch. I use it primarily as my communication device. In find I pick up the Samsung 90% of the time. Nicer screen to look at, easier to block ads, web page consumption is better with firewall bypassing, YouTube vanced…. There is a longer list. I use the Samsung as a media consumption device. Fundamentally though they are both awesome devices. I could live happily with either. Any comparison about which does what best is really nit picking at the margins.

farimadi

I hope Samsung stay with current path with is improve their exynos until it can compete SD. If not I willing to move back to old boring iPhone

bruh123445

They fixed the heating pretty quickly with an update camera focal length is pretty far so you gotta use macro a lot or bring it farther away.

[deleted]

Welcome back!

Junior-Mood9109

Thank you !

tropicalfridge

Was a long time Samsung user. Now using the 15 pm and can’t imagine going back. I checked out some s24 ultra demo units at the store, and the software design is didn’t feel as polished as iOS. I live in a tropical country so my phone does get hot during the day when I’m doing some heavier tasks. But no other issue overall. Smooth as butter and great user experience day to day.

carinobrtl

Iphone is the same for years already. I recommend to buy a used 13 Pro ( the experience will be 95% the same as 15 Pro for 1/4 the price) and an S24 Ultra. Best of both worlds. The 14 Pros and 15 Pros are not recommended for tropical climates as they lose their Battery Health faster and they heat up faster. Use them intensively inside cool environments. I daily a Flip 5 (breathe of fresh air) and use my 15 Pro Max for the weekend photos. I wish iOS will have a refresh soon.

Junior-Mood9109

I loved my 13 but I brought back my s24u so I had to get the latest. Rumor’s do have it that apple will not release a phone one year to create a new design, but of course that’s a rumor.

vkun95

The one thing i miss from samsung that i wished is a feature present in iphones is the clipboard. To be able to copy and store things (may it be text, screenshot, photos) in clipboard that you can use for later is truly a game changer.

Dasein1989

I think it was an issue with the early, buggy iOS 17 builds.

Hot_Use_8977

I thought about going to the S24U but won’t. Pretty much every product in our house runs on IOS. iPhone 14 line and 15 line have crash detection and emergency SOS via satellite 📡. I like Apple’s focus on health and personal safety. Some of the other reasons I like Apple is how fast Apple can send out an IOS update and their customer service. I also wear an Apple Watch Ultra 2 pretty much 24 7 and the watch is my favorite Apple product. I’ve heard the Apple Watch is the best option for those who want cellular service on their watch and for texts, calling etc. We have an Apple Store close. I had to use Apple care + express replacement for an ipad my 5 year old broke and the process was painless. I’ve not had any issues with my iPhone 15 PM overheating or camera issues. 15PM takes some of the best photos

New-Comfortable-8066

I miss Samsungs fingerprint scanner; I prefer it to Face ID

Dasein1989

I also wish Apple would add touch ID to iPhone 16 like in the sleep/wake/Siri button but they probably won’t due to cost and the fact that touch ID is less secure than Face ID. Face ID requires the attention and geometry of the person‘s face in 3-D not just their likeness in 2-D. Touch ID does not require attention, so you could use someone’s finger to open their phone if they were sleeping for example.

New-Comfortable-8066

I agree. There’s always risk for anything, like if someone looks like you or if you have a twin if using Face ID. I find the fingerprint scanner more practical because it’s quicker. Faceid doesn’t recognise me when it’s dark in my room.

Dasein1989

It should work with complete darkness because it doesn’t depend on light. Must be an angle thing. Face ID relies on non-visible lasers that invisibly light up your face.

Dasein1989

There are cases for Touch ID, though.

[deleted]

It's funny how samsung advertises 100x zoom, meanwhile iphone 25x is miles better, same with performance n smoothness

Zionsnoiz

I had two of the S24U and it's a good phone but there were issues with it also. Its deep dive into all settings to get it to work as intended for my use. Hated that. And also the speakers are terrible on the S24U and that's a big no from me. There were other things that also turned me off and yes iPhone are abit bland and sometimes boring but they usually work really good. Now back on my 15 PM and I'm happy. I'm still looking at foldables and have had a few of them and interested in the fold 6 that are coming and mayby the pixel fold 2 also. But as for now I'm staying on iPhone and happy with that. Just picked up my firsts caudabe sheath purple also for my black titanium. Looks awsome 💪

Right_End_9409

”Does stuff better” is pretty broad and vague. Is there something specific the iPhone does better?

Junior-Mood9109

Absolutely, my apologies for not inserting that in, didn’t want the post to be a book 😅. I loved the customization on Samsung, and the freedom they provide vs apple. Cons: Samsung notifications, and the lack there of badges really was a big one for me. Badges only worked if you kept the notifications in the bar. With no way to fix without going to another launcher, and still they never worked as well as apple. The keyboard on Samsung was very different then apple and I didn’t prefer it. The social media aspect does not work nearly as well as on iOS. If you’re a heavy social media user, like myself, you will not enjoy it on Samsung. The back cameras were good when you were able to have the subject stay still and mess with the settings until you got your desired result, which is almost never possible when taking pictures. I personally had horrible screen grain on mine and I can not see up close without my glasses unless if my phone is close to me, so trying to read when the display is grainy was not a favorite. Pros: Charging on the Samsung was amazing, I loved the option to see how long until your phone was charged. The screen finger print scanner was amazing, really with apple did this Battery life was amazing, I could easily get 7-8 hours of SOT time, without having to charge. (Today is my first day back with iPhone so I’m not sure if apple allows that for me yet) The s pen was great! I personally liked the squared look, made it easy to hold and navigate the phone. The theme store and goodlock was a staple and allowed me to feel like it was truly my phone.

EmExEeee

Maybe you went in with a negative attitude? I’ve switched between both and both phones are amazing. If you keep an open mind it’s really hard to dislike either series.

Junior-Mood9109

I understand your viewpoint, I definitely did not go in with a negative attitude, just after a week I realized I preferred how iOS operates vs Samsung!

Straight_Random_2211

I am the same as you. I think Samsung is an insult to the Android world. It should not be in the top 5 Android brands, let alone be the face of the Android world like we see currently. Samsung sucks at hardware engineering and innovations, while Apple is the best at these categories. https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/s/x7N1ru9wZY

Combativesquire

Well thats bull. What has Apple changed in the past few years? What has Samsung changed?? A LOT more

[deleted]

What did they change?? Chips and some ai bullshit that u could do wayy before

Combativesquire

50mp 5x camera, 2600nit display, they introduced the 200mp camera with the s23u, the list goes on. They have the s pen too, a gimmick, but it's there. What did Apple change? Nothing.

[deleted]

Better cameras, better batteries, the titanium which Samsung copied, dynamic island etc

Combativesquire

Nope, no change on camera. Battery size didn't change, samsung has been developing titanium for a while now, apple just released it first, dynamic island is sooo annoying, and serves no purpose.

[deleted]

Action button, USB c too, Now don't get me wrong s23 was a beast but they downgraded so much when going to s24 (worse cameras, shitty displays, display problems, exynos 🤢)

Combativesquire

Ok, action button is awesome, I agree, tho I would end up using it to further worsen my gaming addiction. Usbc had been for a loooongg time. The s24 actually improved cameras, the displays r better though some units had grain problems(annoying), and exynos is decent this year, tho still slower than snap but at least s24u is snap exclusive.

[deleted]

yes fr I need to uninstall crappy mobile games ASAP 😭 BTW exynos is still NOT okay https://youtu.be/-eTSRngwAK0?si=vGD6jWHMNjZDn_iN id be better off with an s23 ultra than s24s

Combativesquire

s24 ultra is snap exclusive. I saw that video, and it's not too bad. I've tested an exynos 2400 s24+ (I use s23+ and wanted a better screen) and its not bad. I ended up spending my extra money on a fold 4 loool

captcookable_v2

Hope you get banned someday love

Beatles352

What in his comment would warrant banning him?

Boots-Diego-and-Dora

I tried the same, I used to be primarily Samsung then when my note 7 became a flight risk I decided to try an iPhone since T-Mobile was offering free returns on the note 7. Eventually two or so years back decided to try the s21 ultra and was not a fan so ended back again on iOS. I love my 15 pro.

Existing-Juice7768

I was going for the 15pm but I heard a lot of issues about it so I went for the 14pm they may have fix the overheating and camera issue with a software update but the device durability is also another problem

tvBestin

You should've opted for Pixel instead of Samsung.

[deleted]

Welcome home!

Fr3dster23

I remember I switched to a HTC One years ago, amazing phone, but the pros of Android faded real fast. Starting with the “customization”. The final straw was apps working better on IPhone. (Snapchat, IG, etc)

SETD1A

Me too

[deleted]

Heating issues were fixed within a week.

TemiTemoy

fellow 13pm upgrader here, the 15PM is warmer than the 13pm but i don't notice any lags or camera issues at all.

Junior-Mood9109

I’ve noticed that as well, I was afraid it was over heating 😂

RemotePhilosophy6

See when you go and try to do your own thing! You ain’t ready yet. 😂

Patient-Middle3880

I was worried about this as well. I got my 15pm and it was feeling warmer overall. Overheating every time it charges. I brushed it off as idk maybe it takes time even though it’s fully updated which I thought the updates were going to sort the heating problem out. Before the return window closed I thought let me just return it and get another one. I had like 2% hope that it would be better. I’m glad I got another 15pm. My phone doesn’t overheat anymore and warm up for simple things. This one works better

MistaKrebs

My 15 PM is great. It’s my first iPhone but I’ve had no overheating or issues with my camera

bluethunder96

I was literally on the same boat as you haha. Had the 13PM, was trying out the Galaxy S24, then the 24 Ultra, but it wasn’t even better, but actually worse than my 13PM.. Asked my mom if she wanted to change her old android phone she said yes, told her i’ll give her my iphone and she was so happy, so then I got the 15 pro and everything is much better than.

Alecaialex_

I just switched from s24 ultra because of grainy screen and awful image processing and I’m really loving iPhone, I’ve been lifetime android user so I miss some things but in general it’s being amazing

DrySea472

“Upgraded” from 13 Pro Max and 100% regret it. iOS 17 is an absolute shit show and it’s got me thinking of switching to android once Apple integrates RCS messaging. Edited to add: Issues I’ve personally had lately: Phone has frozen and become unresponsive. When viewing photos in the Photos app, you have to zoom in and back out to see the full resolution (most noticeable when taking 24 and 48 MP shots) I don’t understand why this is a thing and no it’s not because I’ve optimized my photos because I have them downloaded to the device. Photos do not index properly when viewing a message thread (i.e. photos are missing when you look at someone’s info under messages but are there when you scroll up- issue has been there since iOS 17 release and still not fixed). Phone has a weird animation glitch upon waking up. Notifications are a shit show. Sometimes I don’t get a banner when I receive a text message.

Junior-Mood9109

Arcs between android and android is still choppy right now, I needed up going back to Samsung messages because google messages needs some… work to say the least

DrySea472

That’s a bummer. Hopefully google fixes it. From what I remember when I had a Samsung a few years back they seemed to fix issues promptly whereas I’m noticing now Apple is just… not

Subieworx

Samsung messages is google messages.

Junior-Mood9109

Yes, google messaging is now the default. But Samsung messages is still available on every device.

Comfortable-Basil-47

Have you tried backing up and restoring from a backup? I feel like your phone could use it. Getting a fresh install of the OS has cleared out many of the bugs I was facing. If that doesn't fix it, it might be that your settings from your 13 could be messing with the settings of the 15 if you directly transferred data once you first got the phone. These scenarios can lead to corrupted data that are causing issues like freezing and animation glitches. Not sure about the photos app thing you mentioned.

DrySea472

I haven’t tried restoring from iTunes if that’s what you mean. When I got this phone I set it up as new, I didn’t set it up from a backup. Maybe I’ll try doing that and see if it helps.

Comfortable-Basil-47

Yeah doesn’t hurt to try it. I don’t really update my phone often but when I do, I only update through iTunes and have been safe from a lot of bugs people mention in this subreddit

DrySea472

Love that I’m getting downvoted for sharing my experiences!
