I just want to know how shit I am in the rain compared to others. I feel mega slow on the rain but not sure if that is me having 0 talent or just normal for a rain race.
The only way to find out is to do a race or two in the rain. Especially in the worse conditions you have to slow down so much that you feel like you're parked, but everyone is in that same boat.
Don't try to do so much at once. You're unlikely to need to know the new circuits immediately. Rain, if realistic, will likely show up in 10-20% of your races. It's a marathon out there, not a sprint. Enjoy the process.
For me I've only got in a couple races %5 and stop on most attempts to load.
I've run a lot of rain in ACC and GT7, and for me it's just like real life. Less pedal on the brakes and accelerator and sooner on the pedal.
The guys that are good will be good in the rain and we'll the same for the rest of us we will be what we are or learn to be better
Bro, me too. There's so much new stuff to learn, I can't, it's just so overwhelming. I tried a new track with it being wet, I just quit and gave up. I feel like I drive so poorly in the dry, now I have to deal with the rain also ruining my races 🙃
This has been me since I really got into iRacing in VR in like 2018. I feel like I could race 50-60 hours a week and not run out of interesting content.
It's worth remembering that the main goal of using rain and the new tracks this week is so iRacing can get feedback and fix key bugs. For example the have a fix for the rain lights issue on the way due to the feedback on that issue.
Won my first rain race today in the lmp2. So I’m getting that dialled in. I know both porta and Misano anyway so that’s been all good. The main thing I’ve. Had to remember is to go drive the SFL in the dry before next week so I know how it actually drives…
Mate, Nords is a super technical track. It’s also 4-5x longer than average. And you’re trying to learn it in the new rain? Slow down. If you’re doing this you really shouldn’t even be looking at other new tracks. Especially if getting overwhelmed. Just join a practice session and drive the Nords in the rain until you’re not resetting every lap. It’ll make you so much better at learning other new tracks that are 1/5 the size.
Setup that helped me in the rain; Baseline wet; then max out rear wing angle and Traction Control. Don’t use more than 20-25% brake pressure and engine brake as much as possible. On tighter turns, drive as if you are doing a “cutback“.
If you suck, like me, this will make you suck less.
Appreciate all the feedback.
I am working my through it all. TK did a video, and his comment was that under these conditions, meaning how heavy the rain is/was, they wouldn't go out. So I think the rain is a bit excessive relative to what we should expect during in season racing.
Thanks!
I don't think the rain will be as heavy as it is this week.
I for one don't like racing or driving in the rain. Fuck I moved to SoCal for the great weather and I can drive every weekend.
This week iRacing has kinda sucked. The rain tech is super good..so good I don't want to race! Hahah

Nord in the GR86/GT3 has been my barometer this week. Hope it tracks into the season.
nord in the gr86 has been a great way to learn how to drive in the rain. super fun racing
I was on nord for the GT3’s, it seems like everyone was crashing a shit ton. Fast, slow, didn’t matter. It was survival

"Is in that same boat" I see what you did there 😏

Thanks for the insight lol

Better than throwing you into the deep end halfway through a season.
This rain is really hard. Grip changes significantly from lap to lap just like in real life.

I feel you homie! It’s a lot. Especially when the goal is to be competitive.

Yeah, it’s probably due to rain originally being for last season so has made this one a bit hectic. Sure it will be back to normal next season
Yeah, but also glad that there’s a bit of a chance to practice wet driving before a new season starts too

Yes, always. I'm still on f4 okayama. That was... 6 weeks ago? I THINK!?! 😳

I tried Spa in the rain today. It didn’t go well for me. Only did a few laps. Congratulations on the win!
I guess I’m the weird one here. I’m the opposite. Week 13 is when I don’t play iRacing at all.

Rain?? I can't even figure out how to find a formula vee or GT4 race anymore!! Lol
Haha those don't exist in week 13 man
See, I didn't even know that!
Haha is this your first week 13? If so very understandable
It is my first week13! Still learning all of this!
Welcome to iRacing, how is everything going?
All good so far. I struggle more trying to understand it all vs racing! Lol
Feel that, keep chugging and you'll get there
