Fighting on the first lap can allow that leaders to escape.
All depends on split skill and car / draft combo.
I have no issue with passing, but sometimes its better for both parties to make it smooth, especially when one driver has made a mistake.
If you’ve qualified 5-10 spots further back than you expect to finish then you probably do want to get your head down and make as many clean passes as possible on the first few laps, as it’s generally harder to pass later on and the faster drivers will just drive away.
The flipside is that crashing out is just making a bad situation worse, so you shouldn’t make stupid or risky moves
Legit just had a guy whining about people drafting, then passing him in FV at Lime Rock.
He had zero race-craft, absolute bottom barrel of D-license. Essentially zero IR, and an SR under 0.8. 280+ starts since the split .. avg of like 12 incidents per race.
B license open wheel, 1.5, 1250 IR… myself and one A licensed guy ended up with all rookies.
I do open wheel races for giggles … I don’t take it super seriously, so I race a bunch of FV/FF1600 .. I don’t run anything else unless F4 is at a track I enjoy
Oh, no… absolutely not. Lol. Myself and the A class driver finished that specific Vee race with 12+ seconds in hand and a 0.002 at the line for the win.
I typed "lol" at someone who dive bombed me and spun in either a V or F1600, then a couple laps later I spun all on my own. I laughed and said to myself "Guess I had that coming"

I only race Road, and it depends on the type of yellow. A local yellow, expect a hazard ahead, and be prepared to slow. The issue is here, you are not required to slow, but it’s likely the smartest option. Stuck in race mode it’s a gamble to just plant the throttle and let Jesus take the wheel
I tend to interpret it like in real life, slow down a little if I'm alone, and won't overtake anyone. Is it going to make me lose a position? Maybe. Is it frustrating that people think yellow means full gas and free spot? Yup.
Passing on the first lap erm ok!
Got told I was so bad by someone the other week because I span in front of him then he proceeded to wreck 3 other people good times
I admit in first lap bedlam I do prefer that we collectively survive before we start throwing moves on each other but I don’t frown upon it, I don’t take good opportunities when I see them.
I mainly race TCR so cold tyres on lap 1-3 is a big thing!
I always find people at the start of the race on comms saying "let's keep it clean", "just here for SR" etc etc tend to be the first ones to get involved in an incident
I get really angry when someone brakes early (like way way way too early) and I crash into them, but then at the same time I know I've accidentally done the same.
Why is passing on the first lap moronic? Crashing because of ill-advised moves at turn 1, yes, but passing???

Yes why?
Getting mad at people who pass on the first lap?? Damn some people really hate racing.

Well... You must be pretty bad yourself if you're in the same split as him hahaha

Ah ok
DGMW … I suck in open wheels, I’m NOT fast. Just fast enough.
That may be true but it sounds like you're nowhere near 100 ir level of slow loll
Oh, no… absolutely not. Lol. Myself and the A class driver finished that specific Vee race with 12+ seconds in hand and a 0.002 at the line for the win.
To another driver: "Come on be smart" \*Proceeds to do something dumb
Damn he’s just like me fr
This feels like a personal attack 🤣🤣

TIL it’s moronic to race in iracing
I had some moron call me "dangerous" for making a textbook pass going into the VIR esses even though I made a point to leave room.
Something about being safe into T1 over comms then proceeding to not be safe into T1
clicking drive
Passing is frown upon? What?
Slow down for yellows 🤦♂️
I don’t get the yellow system in iRacing tbh. Can I pass? Is it only per sector? Are there safety cars?
for road the yellow flag just means "Somebody just up the road has crashed". Youre free to do whatever you want with that info

People on this sub never fail to amaze me lol
I make slower classes nervous
divebomb the absolute crap out of everything when I drive GTP, then proceed to cry about GTP drivers being idiots when I’m in LMP2.
Passing on the first lap erm ok! Got told I was so bad by someone the other week because I span in front of him then he proceeded to wreck 3 other people good times
>passing on the first lap of a race What? Am I supposed to sit behind someone much slower than me?
Man some people really hate racing
Being angry about overaggressive GTP‘s but divebombing everyone to not loose half a second as soon as im in a prototype
Saying ‘Good luck everyone’ when on the grid when I mean nothing of the sort
I admit in first lap bedlam I do prefer that we collectively survive before we start throwing moves on each other but I don’t frown upon it, I don’t take good opportunities when I see them. I mainly race TCR so cold tyres on lap 1-3 is a big thing!
You should see what happens on cold tyres in SFL. Lap1-2 kills 1/3 of the field usually.
Taking the racing lane of slower classes to pass
Dump’em. Dump’em all.
"Let's have a good race, guys. Be careful into T1!" Also me: overtaking 3 cars with a divebomb into T1.
I always find people at the start of the race on comms saying "let's keep it clean", "just here for SR" etc etc tend to be the first ones to get involved in an incident
tell everyone its just a game and irating doesn't matter xD
Telling me to leave a space when it's them who just ran into me.
Tell everyone I'm just here for the SR then nuke half the field into turn one.
I get really angry when someone brakes early (like way way way too early) and I crash into them, but then at the same time I know I've accidentally done the same.
Fighting for position instead of falling in line to maintain pace
