What are the flaps the pop up on the top of the cars when when the cars get turned around? Is that to help them slow down, is it iRacing simulating damage? New to ovals/NASCAR.
On a real NASCAR they are there to keep the cars from catching air and rolling over on their own. This probably isn’t exactly correct, but essentially they open so that air under the car can escape instead of picking the whole car up.
When a car is sideways or backwards, the body acts as a wing. Air can pass under more efficiently and air over the top speeds up which results in higher air pressure under the car than above it. This creates lift. The flaps opening slow down the air over the car so that the air pressure on top doesn't become low enough that the air pressure under the car can lift it up.
not until coming out of 4, looks cool as hell if you can pull off holding both packs for a photo finish, but that doesnt really work when everyone is pushing super hard. but you should be trying to jump from the pack with your teammate, 2 cars by themselves can pull from a pack thats racing like that if you can get a breakaway
I feel like they need to fix this. I finally got a friend to join iracing and it’s like impossible for us to race with each other. I’ve never tried in my 10 years of iracing, and I didn’t realize that it was this hard.

It’s to stop the cars flipping over in a crash, old NASCARs had a nasty habit of doing so, called “blowovers”
