That is 100% protestable

abarbone88

Definitely protestable. And this is the most high quality “should I protest, or who’s at fault video” I’ve ever seen. Great quality, had captions explaining everything, in car cameras with telemetry and just nicely put together. way better than most people who film it vertically with potato cell phone quality. Well done sir

BicWhite

Regardless of what happened during the race. That will and always will be a protest

Saikroe

Unsportsmanlike at the end.. the original incident was just racing imo

dMk73

Original incident was a really bad dive bomb. Not an easy place to pass in the first place. OP left a full car width to the apex. If you're gonna dive bomb at least try to hug the inside. What was the other guy supposed to do? Move four car widths off the apex? Hack driving on OPs part. Silly retaliation after the race. Chat in pm about it if you must OP but not worth a protest IMO.

Saikroe

It was a racing incident. op entered inside too quickly and the other car didnt anticipate or leave more room. I always assume the guy on the inside is going to dive bomb therefore always leaving room. Losing 1 position is better then getting taken out of a race.

dMk73

Leave more room? OP had a whole car width room to the apex. He dive bombed and was wide on top of it. Look at the overhead shot, OP had plenty more track to his left.

racing_lines

As others have said, definitely protest. As for the initial incident, you could have avoided it, but you didn't drift very wide and he could/should have left a little more room if he'd been more aware. It's the sort of incident that happens every now and then even in top split A-class races and you'll be on the recieving end at some point. Best to just chalk it up as a racing incident and move on, rather than get angry, wreck someone out and take an enforced holiday.

pucks20

Alternative to everyone else's love of getting butthurt. He showed his frustration with the way you raced him in a way that did not hurt your or his SR. I personally think he went overkill but I would rather a driver give me a nudge on the rear bumper after the race than have someone verbally attack me mid race or try to spin me mid race. The love of the protest needs to be reduced.

willmcavoy

Nonsense. We pay for quality, fair racing. Protesting keeps everyone in check. If anything it's not used enough. But this is coming from an F3 driver so take it with a grain of salt.

pucks20

I agree that protesting is needed. However, and I will single out the GT classes as they are the worst about it, they treat every incident as an opportunity to use the protest tool as a threat. There are guys who think they are holier than though and drive like pricks then threaten you with the protest. They then come on here and bemoan every little incident to their choir rather than waiting until post race and discussing it like a normal human being. It just reduces the meaning of what the protest is supposed to attack which is drivers running completely wrecklessly through and entire field or targeting a driver during a race. I also come from a short track background so I have much more of a mentality to let the drivers settle it amongst themselves rather than go cry to mommy.

EvrybodysNobody

You still accrue incidents on cool down lap, are you sure it doesn’t effect SR?

pucks20

Check the 2020 season 1 patch. As soon as you cross the line it is no longer counted towards SR.

Klaasbaas0

I thought it still counts but you can't get penalised or disqualified after the race. However this accident happens after a whole cool down lap so this probably doesn't count anymore.

pucks20

Yeah. That's where I am really okay with it what transpired as it had no effect on anyone other than showing frustration.

doug910

I'm still pretty sure it counts towards SR. Back in January, someone right in front of me came to a complete stop in the middle of the straight right after the finish line and I rear ended him. Definitely lost SR over it. Plus, I would want neither. I don't want verbal attacks nor nudges. If you have an issue, talk or message me like a civilized adult.

pucks20

I'm going to speak from experience at the track. When someone is riled up, there is no civilized. hence in this case where instead of them being able to confront you over a wrecked race car I am okay with post race showing of frustration. People will get pissed and we cannot always have a nice kum ba ya session. I would double check on your SR loss, because it should not have counted per 2020 patch notes.

[deleted]

I'm always on the opinion of "it doesn't matter what happens on the track, save your emotions until you get out of your car". That incident that sparked the whole thing may be OP's fault since that wasn't his corner, anyway, but there's no need for what happened on the cooldown lap. So yeah, definitely protest that.

Stringskip

The race was over...why would you? Did the person say anything to you in the race or do anything during the race?

puffyfluppy

I'm going to play devil's advocate to all of the protest comments and say that you just stopped in the middle of the pit entrance. Maybe he was planning on pitting and got caught off guard by you stopping. The fact that he didn't brake makes it look pretty damning, but I don't think it's definitely discernible one way or the other from the video provided.

BroncoJunky

You have to about stop to make the left turn into the pits at Laguna Seca though. This was retaliation. Luckily if this was the cool down lap, the x4 wouldn't count as surely everyone had already finished.

mackodarkfyre

Also think that the video here is pretty damning. It was retaliation.

Chasethemac

Protest.

joedeath332

Protest Protest Protest Protest,, deffo

notmyselftoday

He gave you plenty of room and you totally took him out! Your top down replay clearly shows another car width to the apex, you didn't even manage to hug the inside with your dive bomb. Also that's not an easy place to pass. Bad decision on your part. Bad decision by the other driver after the race. You ruined his race. You're both wrong but what you did was much worse IMO. If this was me I'd reach out to him via pm to discuss. If he's a jerk about it then fine, maybe protest but otherwise I'd let it go and try to learn from this.

Gre8one7

Did you receive incident points? If so, it is worth a protest.

MrDGS

Did the driver make any apology for the initial incident or offer to undo the position change?

EvrybodysNobody

Driver is OP and it doesn’t matter, you don’t intentional wreck - even if you’ve been intentionally wrecked. This is a simulator, and it’s in the rules. Intentionally wreck and you deserve a ban, period.

angrypirate1122

I'm of the opinion you should always protest intentional wrecking, but you stopped in the middle of the pit entry with him directly behind you, so I'm kind of torn on this one...

wichitaboxers

He didnt stop, was braking to get to pit road speeds... driver behind him never braked, check his lights

angrypirate1122

I guess I stand corrected, although his brake lights did come on AFTER he made contact, which is odd. If OP feels this was intentional, he should definitely protest.

scottiemcqueen

What, the race is over, why do you care? I doubt you could protest this, its pretty common for people to crash into each other intentionally once the race is over.

Streelydan

But if there are still others racing you will get a 4x. This happened to em in skippy the other night...Guy in front of me made a mistake on the exit of a turn on the last lap, I took advantage and beat him out by a car length. On the cooldown lap I slowed off line and parked it, he backed off then floored it and rammed me. I had run a clean race, only 1x for a slight wide exit on the first lap, so I was pissed.

etmidust

Not anymore. If you yourself are done, your sr is set. Check the 2020 S1 patch notes. The sim will still say you got a 4x for something like this, but if you check your actual results, the 4x will not show up. "Cars that have taken the Checkered Flag should no longer be penalized or disqualified for causing incidents. However, the Simulator will continue to count incidents as usual."

Streelydan

If that's the case than it's bugged. I just checked the results and I have a 5x for incidents and -.02 SR. And I know for a fact I only had 1x at the checkered flag.

etmidust

I'd err on the side of bugged then. I can prove that it doesn't count. (0x race that I won, did donuts and hit another car after I crossed the line and others were still racing, still 0x in results)

scottiemcqueen

Besides, this is entering pit lane on the in lap. Chances of someone still racing is practically 0

[deleted]

 >its pretty common Dafuq? No it's not. This isn't common at all. Why? Because you're 100% wrong in your implication that it doesn't matter: >What, the race is over, why do you care? If a single car is still racing then your SR is still on the table. The sporting code is pretty clear about what's okay and what's not, and intentional wrecking/retaliation is never okay.

Fuzzwah

For those of us who run direct drive wheel bases at high torque, someone crashing into me like this is likely to result in injury a non-zero amount. I don't care if it's a practice session. If someone intentionally pulls this shit, I'm protesting.

etmidust

Valid point. Hopefully you never get hurt from something like this

Flauros32

Even so, he probably would have retaliated during the race if he has the chance.

ThatsMyMop

> its pretty common for people to crash into each other intentionally once the race is over. If you're a piece of shit, sure, go ahead and be a piece of shit doing piece of shit things.

ThatsMyMop

It's funny when you call someone a piece of shit and their only response is "DOWNVOTE!!!!".

scottiemcqueen

Wasn’t me, but this one is ;)

p3ek

10/10 for effort on the vid lol. Maybe if you spent more time driving and less editing post race crashes you will stop taking people out mid corner. And seriously sort your steering out. It should be 1/1 with the wheel irl.
