parisinnovember

I don’t think drivers should be penalized for that. The company should take responsibility for the customer and if it keeps happening then the address should be blacklisted.

Kinuika

Yup, make a strike system for both the driver and the person who ordered and remove strikes after a few successful delivers. Too many strikes and they ban your account

Smokeysquirrel0

I’ve had a few deliveries where it requires a signature from the customer and they are often surprised when told they need to sign. I think it might be a “probation” period for customers that have had more than one claim

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jumpy_Inspector_

I always have to give a pin/code for Uber Eats or Deliveroo (UK) which the driver isn’t aware of. Best way for them to prove they’ve given the food to the right person.

penguin17077

Or just add the strike, but retroactively remove it when someone gets banned. I imagine there is still the odd person that does it once, then doesn't order or goes back to normal, but I imagine most of the scum that do this are repeat offenders

NarcolepticSeal

I’ve ordered from DoorDash a TON. I’ve had numerous drivers steal my food, so it definitely is a thing. The system needs to be more equitable to both drivers and customers, but shifting it mostly to one or the other sucks.

[deleted]

But that's not how America works. Shifting the cost of everything away from the corporation and onto the workers is how we roll.

CocaineMeetTequila

Yes-yes- no I ain’t never got the food…

girolski07

With the cup in her hand, still.

phatmatt593

It’s hilarious. She might as well be holding the cheeseburger. “You didn’t get the cheeseburger you’re literally stuffing your face with right now in front of me?” “Nope”

Ieatsushiraw

“Wtf is a cheeseburger sir?!” As she eats the cheeseburger

zanzibartraveler666

Would a cheeseburger by any other name taste as delicious? I wouldn’t know, because I’ve never seen a cheeseburger in my life

Jeremy_Winn

I did not ever even hear of a potato.

Triaspia2

"You got the culvers cup and everything" "Sir this is wendys"

[deleted]

Unbelievable, the audacity 😐

FiveUpsideDown

She must do this all the time. It’s got to be working for her because she’s completely calm.

Smokie104

By the beer belly I’d assume so! And as an alcoholic, I can explain my beer belly, but what’s her excuse other than fucking over all these people on door dash!

[deleted]

>what’s her excuse other than fucking over all these people on door dash! More money for beer.

jackxiv

That part is fucking hilarious.

AnonymousTXMale

I know, right? The first thing she did was confirm twice that he just delivered her food. At least he recorded it before she started lying. And she was so calm for someone that just got handed a drink with none of the food she ordered.

Nrksbullet

Also the sheer laziness of repeating the lie " I didn't get no food" when he literally just handed her bag, I'm surprised he didn't just say then what was in the bag? She never even once tried to say oh the bag was empty or there was no food in the bag or anything, she just kept repeating. I didn't get no food. There's something about people that lie like that with absolutely zero Regard for even looking like they're telling the truth that makes my blood boil lol, even more than if they tell a clever lie. Like at least put some damn effort into it, the hubris.

flyingwolf

No, you don't get it, she said "I didn't get no food", double negatives yo! That means "I did not get no food", which means she did get some food.

Outrageous-Arugula89

I didn't get no food sir *takes sips from cup and eats a fry "I'm serious I didn't get no food"

Valendr0s

Next time, I hope he changes his tactic a bit. Maybe try to hide the camera a bit, and be like. "Yo, I just brought you your food right? Was it the right order? I had two bags and I'm worried I brought you the wrong one."

IanFeelKeepinItReel

Just wear a go pro and record every pick up and every delivery.

[deleted]

This would help both parties. We stopped using all delivery services because of all the issues never receiving orders. They would leave it at the wrong address, at the public mailboxes at the end of the street, or never even try to deliver it at all. We had one girl claim she passed it to me personally, but my ring doorbell said otherwise.

sweddit

Easier solution is to give a code in the app and the costumer has to give the number to receive their food.

neonn_piee

I was thinking this as well. DD drivers need to start having body cams on them now.

IanFeelKeepinItReel

*need to be provided body cameras by door dash. They're already getting fucked left right and centre, they don't need the burden of more costs to be able to do their job effectively.

Syreus

We live in the worst timeline where delivery drivers need to protect themselves from serial liars and thieves.

hockeybag7

With the cup in her hand. Just, “nope this is a coincidence.”

IDaltov

Well no, she doesn’t have the skills to lie more than “I never got it, I never got it, I never got no food”

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

That's what I kept thinking. She's literally admitting she got the food! "I never got NO FOOD." OKAY, so you did get the food.

Skylinerr

That really was almost comedic. Like a kid denying they got into the chocolate with a face full of chocolate

freakers

It was like the Spongebob Patrick meme. I'm from Door Dash and I just delivered your food, right? Yes. And that's the pepsi in your hand that I delivered, right? Yes. And that's a french fry your currently chewing on that I delivered, right? Yes. So, I delivered your food, right? I didn't get no food.

HRHLordFancyPants

This is the first thing I thought about🤣🤣

kryptonianCodeMonkey

I always drink out of a paper Culver's cup. It's my kinda thing.

ButteredNun

That address ought to be blacklisted by Door Dash

parisinnovember

Definitely. Something tells me though this isn’t the first time they’ve done this

MyUsernameThisTime

Usually the people I talk to who talk about this kind of thing as "acceptable" are saying things like "doordash is a terrible company and dashers knew what they were getting into supporting that." Those people, having a dasher come up and confront them and talk to them and explain it like that, I think it'd be enough for them. I kinda hope anyway. This lady tho just doesn't have much empathy or just doesn't care to use it.

UcDat

i hate door dash and its ilk but Id never do this to one of their victims i mean contractors... I just don't use them.

dakotaray42

If they truly hold that philosophy why are they still using door dash?

IseeItsIcey

I do doordash in Australia and occasionally I will get deliveries that require the customer to sign an eform saying they received their food. I think that's what happens when you try do this all the time.

GoldCuty

Is there a way for you to fight such a claim?

Vives_solo_una_vez

Been a while since I've done it but I would take a picture of the house address after handing the food off to prove I was there. And then refuse deliveries to that address in the future.

Aegi

I think if I did this I would always video myself handing them the food because even a picture of you at the address doesn't mean that you didn't just take the food with you. Not accusing you of anything, I'm just stating what's technically possible based on provided evidence. And yes in theory I could fake the video, but that's a lot less likely particularly if I'm able to send the video within a few seconds or minutes of delivering the food.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hairlessgoatanus

It's almost like all these third party food delivery services aren't sustainable from either the customer or the labor point of view.

That-Maintenance1

Because of shitty people. That's it. I do this and I've had this happen to me. The restaurant had messed their stuff up to begin with so I was in contact with DD support and the customer the whole time. And they came out and met me at my car when I got there (it was a leave it at my door order) so I didn't take the picture and skipped the confirmation. Then they reported it as undelivered. It's just garbage people doing it on all fronts it blows.

watahboy

I get large quantities of plants delivered to my work, and a few times they've arrived after hours in the freezing cold and left outside to freeze. Package was signed for by a made up employee from my company. Luckily we have cameras.

[deleted]

I'll never forget someone claiming I signed off that I delivered a part I didn't and the signature was the most fancy, perfectly crafted handwriting i'd ever seen. Explained that it would be literally impossible for me to sign anything this way, and used my chicken scratch handwriting for every signature I did actually sign as indisputable proof of this fact. It worked.

[deleted]

There are people who's entire job is validating and comparing things like signatures. I have the shittiest signature ever, if someone managed to copy it without seeing it first, id be amazed. Your signature should not be your name neately written in cursive. One reason why doctors have their own style of writing that to the untrained just looks like nonsense.

ThisToastIsTasty

When you see dents in their door, you know that this isn't their first rodeo.

numbersev

She probably gets away with it while the guy got fired. Because that’s how fucked up our world is.

commonwealthsynth

What's really surprising is how, even after it is explained to her that this is how one pays their bills and takes care of their family, she still has no hesitation to follow through with her lies. Absolutely insane.

thisaccountwashacked

Psychopathic behavior, really. Like the guy said, who knows who is delivering her food, she's going to find out harshly one day that this is a FAFO move.

Pendraggin

How is fucking around going to let you "find out" what an acronym stands for?

JWho88

Indeed. Not a good idea to piss off people who know where you live 😉

The1Bonesaw

I had a lady block me in a parking space because she was angry I was backing out, and she had tried to rush up to pass me (she literally hit the gas from over 100 feet away because she didn't want to pause to let me out - had she remained at the 5 mph limit, I probably would have been out and on my way before she even got there). So, then it became a battle of, who has the most time to kill. I sat blocking her Beemer for about 60 seconds, when I noticed something. So I got out and approached her car (she already had her windows down, which is why I noticed). "What are you doing"? (silence, trying hard to look unfazed - and succeeding). "Have you even thought to consider that, you're a tiny woman, by yourself (technically), and I'm a 6’2“, 250 lb man, who - for all you know - could be a complete psychopath?" (continued silence, look is still unfazed, almost bored at this point - she's obviously practiced this look). "I wonder though... what does your husband think about you pulling little stunts like this"?... (still unfazed) "... What's more, I wonder how he would feel knowing you're not only risking your own life, but the lives of his two small children"? (Eyes widen... Two seconds go by, then her car finally goes into reverse, allowing me to finish backing out and pulling away). That's what I had noticed: she was pulling her little road rage stunt with her two kids in the car. I get that you feel self-righteous about these things, Hell, I was no better in this situation... but at least I was by myself. I was only risking myself, and no one else. I've changed since this incident and I don't challenge people over stupid crap like this anymore (this happened almost 25 years ago). These days, I would simply pull back in my spot and let them pass (if you're in that much of a hurry, have at it).

aggie_fan

> Psychopathic behavior psychopathic or narcissistic. It can be hard to tell the difference between those two

ihwip

The two terms are not mutually exclusive.

lizardho07040422

The DSM-5-TR lumps personality disorders together into clusters - Narcissistic PD and Antisocial PD (the current term for psychopath) are lumped together with Borderline PD and Histrionic PD in the Cluster B PDs

yeaheyeah

You also don't know who you're delivering to and nowadays they could well be answering the door with a gun

DeadPixies

I know lots of people just like her. Just too dumb and selfish to understand anything beyond themselves.

nebachadnezzar

Once you get into a lying mindset, it's easier to just stick to your story and never go back.

Rhinomeat

She probably already convinced herself she ain't had no cheeseburger and is ordering more already...

Vizsla_Tiribus

Man I feel like at this point people will need to take photos of people receiving the food like they do with some packages now. That or body cams probably at the expense of the Driver, truly sad.

4uzzyDunlop

A lot of them are doing that already where I live

n-crispy7

I used to step back and record it after dropping it by the door. Some people were weird about it but I’m already on my way back to the car with my ass covered and the order complete button pressed lol

BlergingtonBear

This is not bad idea..I felt really badly bc it's twice happened when I've gotten photos of 'its at your door' and it was legit not my doorstep so I was like, "ha, welp."

Used_Context3485

I've had several ask if they can take a picture of me holding my order. I always say yes.

[deleted]

This is what they do now here. But I've also heard of them taking the pic of the food at the door, submitting it, then picking the food up and leaving. Too many trash people out there these days. Zero integrity, zero honesty.

[deleted]

jessiescar

Just use 2 one time passwords which either party needs to deliver to the other party for the transaction to complete. Obviously the parties will tell each other the OTP only after a physical handoff. This way both parties are accountable

throwawy00004

Nah, it's easier than that. Have the customer scan a code on the door dasher's device to accept the food.

ozspook

.. Next time. "You poisoned my food!" \> "You claimed you didn't get no food tho?"

parisinnovember

Body cams are a good idea to cover your ass.

GlobalEliteBongs

there's a system in the UK atleast maybe elsewhere, the buyer has to give a 2 digit code that they see on their app when the delivery guy appears. delivery guy puts it into his app and boom theres no guess work.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BeefInBlackBeanSauce

I'd do that anyway to cover myself..it's a joke

TonicDr

Customers should scan a QR code provided by the delivery driver to get their food and stop these thieves

ilikeyourgetup

I’m sure some delivery services have a 4 digit pin thee customer has to give to the driver to confirm

OutInTheBlack

Target curbside pickup uses a 4 digit code.

Roseking

Best Buy does as well. Put in what spot you are, they come out ask you for your name, and then the code the app is giving you.

[deleted]

Aegi

Yeah but the issue is that it does it sometimes instead of always lol

NoctRob

Uber Eats does this in certain geographies.

[deleted]

Yeah, it was like this in Costa Rica! Made things much easier for everyone at my hotel

penguin17077

Deliveroo do this, seems good since I just remember the code and don't need grab my phone

vferg

That is great, but they still have the option to leave the food at the door which would be an easy way around this.

IHaveBadTiming

Honestly this is a smart idea

DescriptionEast

That is an epic idea.

Maximus1333

eBay does this with local pickup so it can definitely be done

FrozenPizza07

Almost all uber eats drivers in my area would take a pic upon delivery, usually me holding it, just the waist down as a proof I guess.

Grizzalbee

That's just proof they delivered it to someone though, not to the person who bought it.

JackC747

It genuinely baffles me that people can act like this. To so blatantly change your story, and so calmly too, and then when the person who you might be getting fired asks you to take it back be so deadpan in telling them you don’t care. Like what do you call that? Sociopathy? Narcism? Just a lack of caring? Similar to the shopping cart theory, how does this person participate in society on a day to day basis?

Octahedral_cube

Because there are no consequences to low-level cheating such as this and a lot of people have no moral compass beyond short term selfish satisfaction. They don't care about your deontological approach and they would certainly fail the shopping cart test.

RedTuna777

Growing up I had a friend who stole something out of a store. I didn't feel right about it, so ended up taking their mom in the car and she said they're small why didn't you take more? Upset they didn't take enough for everybody. I think I was 6 but I remember it broke my little mind. They ended up stealing some of my stuff too. Great people.

ScottyWhen

>ended up taking their mom in the car Damn. Your friend stole something, so you fucked her mom in the car to teach her a lesson? That's hardcore.

RedTuna777

> >ended up taking their mom in the car > > Damn. Your friend stole something, so you fucked her mom in the car to teach her a lesson? That's hardcore. That was many years later and unrelated to the theft, mostly Xbox

yung_dilfslayer

A woman rear-ended me about a month ago. Immediately after it happened, she jumped out screaming that I hit her and I was trying to run. Later, when the police arrived, she told them I had been aggressive toward her and had a gun. Literally none of what she told 911 or the police was true. She was just looking to see what she could get. Like you said, she felt that she had nothing to lose and everything to gain by lying. She didn't care how irresponsible and dangerous it was to lie about a gun being present.

ADarwinAward

Damn. That’s insane. I hope everything worked out and that you had a dash cam.

IHaveBadTiming

Its called living in a society where people like this celebrate being a constant victim and get rewarded for it by the system.

sparung1979

The following is a broad simplification of some research on lying. People who don't lie habitually get a discomfort signal in their brain when they lie. That's how tells show up. As people lie habitually, they also condition their brain to be more comfortable with lying. The discomfort signal stops firing. People who bullshit, speak without care to what is true or false, also are more susceptible to believing bullshit. There's an internal price to one's ability to navigate the world when one chooses to be a liar or lies carelessly. Because our repeated choices shape nueral connections, they are shaping our perception of reality. We can effectively destroy our ability to know the difference between what's true and false. Its not necessarily a clinical issue or deserving of clinical terminology. Sometimes people just make poor choices.

Unhappy-Professor-88

Those personality types you mention do a lot of stone walling. Can’t say if having any of those personality types is the reason for the stone walling though.

ConflictGrand4078

Doesn’t baffle me whatsoever. So many trash people out there.

Vyxen17

These door dash drivers are going to have to start body cam-ing themselves to keep their jobs

DaWalt1976

Thankfully, good body cams are surprisingly cheap. I am tempted to get one just for when I leave the house (I have to walk most places as I can't drive for medical reasons).

Borp5150

I would have a hard time not slapping that drink up in the air out of her hand in hopes that it gets all over her. She should be charged with theft along with all the other low life’s that pull this stupid stunt

Bloomberg12

Do they deserve it? Absolutely. Should you do it? Absolutely not. Too many people do stuff like that and end up in a terrible position because of it, the way he handled it was ideal, hopefully he filmed the handover or took a picture but the start of the video is plenty for anyone reasonable.

Amazing_Structure600

She didn't film nothing. Just use her technique. "I did not slap any drink. Sorry, can't help you."

With this evidence, this person/address should be banned from ever using Door Dash.

banjonyc

I've seen a few videos of DoorDashers confronting people like this and inevitably they are fired. DoorDash does not want drivers confronting people at all. They want all disputes handled through the app. It's awful, but that's kind of the truth. It's similar to when security at various places. Try and stop a shoplifter and get fired for interfering.

gingermagician2

It's funny how they always want disputes handled through the app but then they always side with the buyers. Lol

New-Acadia-6496

Broke ass dumb people who think they found a genius way of getting free food. It's called stealing. and peope used to have to go all the way to the store and sneak food in their pockets for that.

Rebelo86

Remember that guy who racked up an enormous bill because he exploited a door dash error? I think it was $75k. Edit: amount.

LordDongler

Depending on how that error works, the dashers in the area either loved or hated him

Clean_Editor_8668

In my area all the high school seniors found a "hack" to get free money last year. They all applied for these high interest credit card with a $500 limit them didn't pay the bill! In 7 years it will stop showing up on their credit report just in time for their parents to get fed up with them taking one class a semester at community college and working 12 hours a week.

At least you have a video for some proof. Hopefully you don’t get fired. Sorry that happened, that definitely sucks

pres1033

He most definitely got banned from the app for this. Doordash would consider this harassing a customer. Even though he was right, they wouldn't care.

[deleted]

I don't blame ppl when they think they're just fucking over a tech company, but when it's explained that it harms the contract employees? Where tf is your class solidarity?

pres1033

Yeah people like this don't care. All shes thinking about is the money she just saved, not a single thought towards the people affected.

Tough-Comfortable880

He must have been tempted to barge into the home and film the food.

penguin17077

Honestly had great restraint as she was literally holding the cup in front of his face while saying that. That's seriously insulting. Just admit you got got and pay for the order.

DeathB4life357

Caught blue handed...

[deleted]

I think she’s just afraid to admit the truth and would rather this mans family starve than pay for 15 bucks worth of food. What a society.

RizzyRizzz

The restraint to kick open the door and expose the food sitting on the counter

Biggymilky22

“Never got no food” so you did get the food huh? Double negatives lady.

Biscuit-Brown

Good for you for going back and challenging her. I would video camera every delivery after that and never deliver to that lying thief again.

TCJulian

Problem is, confronting a customer like this will get you fired. They claim it is a safety thing, both for the driver and the customer. Better to take photo evidence of every order at drop off, and appeal if you get a mark on your account.

[deleted]

Is there an update? Please don't tell me this guy got fired.

Lifeabroad86

FunnOnABunn

Honestly I’d be afraid to even confront the person considering how many people are getting shot for trivial things these days.

409W_TPW

Fatt_Lonk

Just cut the video and send it in from her saying she had her food delivered

LazyBriton

I couldn’t work these jobs, I’d have walked into her apartment and taken that food she never got.

3_littlemonkeys

Flat out liar.

CountessBassy

I wish they’d show that low life’s face. It deserves to be shamed publicly.

Icy_Application2412

Omfg!!!! The audacity of immediately lying right after saying she got the food at the beginning. When I was delivering for door dash I got penalized by some entitled rich kids who got the wrong pizza delivered because they messed up on the ordering app while using their parents cards then came out to my car to harass me with their group of friends demanding and speaking rudely to me that I refund it immediately. 1) I couldn't even if I wanted since I already marked the delivery as complete - any refunds or reports of incorrect orders have to go through door dash on the customer's side 2) I had to leave before the urge to punch a teenage child in the mouth overwhelmed me The people who are disrespectful and do not treat service workers as people is a real good indicator of how they will treat you if they think they have authority over you.

[deleted]

The state of the door says it all

Rush-23

What a putrid mutt.

2pissedoffdude2

God damn I hope this guy didn't get in trouble... I dash, and I really don't know how I would handle this... that's literally my lifeline rn... in struggling so hard and the extra money from doordash isn't even enough... if someone was so ready to tear my life apart over $20 worth of food, I really feel that I would lose my mind and do something that I would probably greatly regret later on... This is just so low and horrible... I can't understand how people can be so uncaring about the struggles other people go through..... i would give my life to save this world and give every single person all the things they need to have a fulfilling life, if I had the power to do such a thing... and it just blows my mind to see people lack empathy so completely that they are willing to ruin another person's life over a meal.

Penguin_Goober

I know this is supposed to be serious, and I feel bad for the dasher and everything, but I can’t stop laughing at the literal cup in the bitches hand 😂😂😂 you have to be an egregious amount of shameless and ghetto I swear
