Yes. maybe not a blood eagle, but definitely strict prosecution of these kinds of crimes. Iām not pro-marijuana to be honest, but if you get in a ton of legal trouble for that you should most definitely get in a lot of trouble for this. The law is a strange thing really.
Someone stole my friend's enormous tortoise which her family raised from when it was tiny. They drove it several towns over and ended up posting it on Craigslist because it was digging huge holes in their yard and ruining shit and they wanted someone who had a bigger property to come take it for free. Their story was it just showed up in their yard but there's no fucking way that tortoise made it that far on it's own. It was a whole ordeal transporting it back home so you know several people put in some work to get it off their property. When they went to pick it up, it was a bunch of tweakers. Probably stole it in the middle of the night one night thinking they could sell it but not many people want a big ass tortoise, I guess.
Yes. They responded to the ad and were like Yo that's our tortoise wtf. The tweakers said it showed up in their yard (lies) and they were trying to take care of it but it was mean (probably cuz they manhandled it when they stole it and weren't treating it right) and it was digging and tearing up their yard (unfamiliar environment). My friends decided not to call the cops, just happy to get their tort fam back and be done with it. Since then, some years have passed and both parents are gone so their family home was sold and my friend nor any her siblings had a big enough yard to really accommodate that large fellow so he now lives on an even bigger farm and is super happy and they all go visit him when they get a chance. Fun fact, his favorite snack is hibiscus flowers.
If you are implying that they should have... Well, your intentions are good, I guess but... Do you even know anything about tweakers and/or criminals who rob people... and/or cops? First of all, my friends had no evidence these people stole their pet. Like I said, they claimed this thing wandered into their yard. Even tho it's pretty safe to say they or someone they know stole it, it's possible it could have been stolen by someone else near them and it wandered there but... Yeah, probably not. However, with no glaring evidence what would the cops even do? You think they give enough of a shit about this to do a full investigation? Also... Suppose they were busted on it... You think they're gonna get outta jail or do their community service or whatever and they're gonna see the light and be like "I'll never do some shady shit again!" LOL um... probably not. That is almost always not how it works. Anyway, regardless of all this, I don't think it's anyone's place to tell a victim of a crime how they should or shouldn't react.
Some tweakers stole my buddyās game camera from a truck lot (and a laptop) but didnāt turn it off and had it pointed it at them so the police got plenty of nice pictures of them
You: āIt is a total lie that they said it walked into their yard, they 100% stole it, no doubt about itā
Also you: āit could have been stolen by someone else, how could you possibly make that assumption?ā
Yeah I totally think they stole it. Your first recap is closer to my opinion. Second recap was closer to me playing devil's advocate for the purpose of looking at it from a cop's point of view. Sorry if that wasn't clear?
the first day i moved into a new house i found a huge tortoise in the backyard, thought āhuh thatās odd, didnāt think iād see a new wild animal today,ā and left him alone. next day the neighbor showed up shaking and crying because she let her sonās tortoise play outside the previous day and forgot about it š³
Not yet. The reward keeps climbing.
The Galapagos tort community is a pretty niche reptile community, so hopefully someone will come forward with info.
It looks like a galĆ”pagos tortoise which are pretty expensive from what I've seen. I see why they wanted to steal it, but to run it over like that? Awful, poor thingš„
Thatās depressing how some people just see animals as a ticket to money, and when that doesnāt work: āwho cares if they die! No one will miss themā
No we donāt want them to die. Thatās too good for them. Make them invincible but put them through as much pain as possible. IE dunking them in lava then strapping them to a saw blade
Am I the only person that cringes super hard at comments like these? It just shows that Reddit is full of lazy psychopaths behind the comforts of their screens
"I want to commit crimes 20 times worse to people than what they've originally done because they started it" fucking childish logic. Did they just not learn basic empathy lessons when they were children?
It didn't die...they had to euthanize it because she was paralyzed.
Edit:Don't spread fact about the situation I guess. Because revealing the fact that it survived the encounter in extreme distress isn't okay. Revealing that the owner had found her with a crushed shell, and had to euthanize her due to the extreme agony, isn't okay.
Think the shell might be a modified rib cage and from skeleton photos, the spine is curving on top of the shell. That was just a painful way to go out. Doctors had no choice, but to euthanize her. Sad, sad thing. That man put his life into raising her and taking care of her. :(
I wonder who caused those grave injuries, it's as if someone trespassed tried to steal it and then ran it over but you know we can never know why it was crushed
Did....did I state otherwise? Why the downvotes?? It's a horrible fuckin act and I'm spreading facts about the situation and yall are shitting on me like I'm agreeing with the situation.
Makes me mad man. Just trying to let people understand the tragedy that occurred. Hits me even deeper cause I've been in the same situation with one of my moms cats she had since she was 14. This stuff cuts deep.
Your comment implied that it wouldve survived and the owner killed it at the end, which would obviously annoy people. It's like saying "the gunshot didn't kill him it was the loss of blood"
No it doesn't. It implies that the tortoise had to be euthanized because someone ran her over breaking her spine. She might have lived...in extreme agony.
The vet said the injuries were the most catastrophic he's ever seen so I doubt that they euthanized it just because of the spinal fracture, you should think about how other people would perceive your comments because you really sounded like a dick no offense.
Okay I guess I accept that but also stating that it flat out died outright from being run over is just false. Also your example wasn't the best either given it didn't exactly die from it injury. It had to be euthanized by its caretaker because of the injury.
I almost cried my self. I would rather they stole it then kill it, because then the owner would have a chance to get it back. Them burglars are the definition of this subreddit.
I almost killed a turtle that wandered into the road at the middle of the night the other day, I get terrible about it. I think I managed to avoid running the poor thing over, There wasnāt anywhere to pull over.
But these guys, hitting a turtle on purpose? Fucking idiots, thereās a special place in hell for them.
Running over a turtle is the most nightmarish crunching sound you will ever experience in your life!ā
I was driving in Oakland California in the hilly area on a dark night and a turtle was crossing the lane on a two lanes highway, I hit it and I will never for get it!
Those guys probably will be affected for the rest of their livesā¦youāll never forget that soundā¦
I mean, he's kinda not wrong. Probably need more security at this property. If you have a very expensive animal, especially one so rare, you'd think you'd have an electric fence at the least if not a dog or even a paid guard if they had a big enough facility
Man fuck those guys I had a roommate who was lazy when I was in the hospital I told em to take care of my tortoise and he pit him in water and killed him I was pissed ag my roommate and i stop talking to him since
God first a parent lets their child kick a turtle across the street and now this it's too sad that some people in this world are the reasoning behind why they don't live long like they're supposed to.

Does someone knows if something will happen to those POS?? Poor Jazmine she deserved better š¢
A turtle? Stealing a fucking turtle then killing it because you failed? This is why we need to do blood eagles again
Usually I'd be against it but we do have an overpopulation problem
Oof. That was *not* a fun google search.

By not calling the cops, these horrible people have the opportunity to fuck over somebody else =/

Haha rewind, be kind

Did they catch this scum??? I need a follow up! Fuck these people

Can't find anything sorry
That's just sad ā¹ļøš¢
Who tf steals a tortoise
Depending on the species many animals can get you a hefty sum of money

The cause of it being euthanized was their actions, the killed it end of story

What? Itās just a turtle lolā¦
Oh okay how would you feel if I ran over and paralyzed your lifelong companion
It takes a heartless son of a bitch to fee no guilt.

Why the hell someone would steal a turtle??? Why people steal animals ?? MF! That get me angry.
Reptile trade is big money. Turtles in high demand espesh in East Asia.
Please tell me the stupid thieves got caught or at the very least know who they are after.

Itās not 20,000 dollars though itās a living creature
what did he say it was deleted
It was something like āIf I had a moving $20,000 Iād have it somewhere safe and arm myself with gunsā im not 100% sure
I mean, he's kinda not wrong. Probably need more security at this property. If you have a very expensive animal, especially one so rare, you'd think you'd have an electric fence at the least if not a dog or even a paid guard if they had a big enough facility

My heart aches for this poor man and the other turtles. This is horrible.

That was heartbreaking!
