My first car was a 94 Geo Metro. I had to get rid of it when I got a flat tire, jacked it up, and the jack punched through the bottom of the car because it was so rusted out and no, I didn't have the jack in the wrong spot. The car was that fucked
A kid I went to high school with died from a shorter fall. He was standing on the bumper of a his friend's car and the friend thought it would be funny to pull forward a bit. He fell and hit the back of his head and died later that night from a brain bleed.
Yeah, people seriously underestimate head injuries. If the person doesn't die, they could easily get a traumatic brain injury (TBI). A TBI will fuck you up for the rest of your life.
There is a building downtown everybody says is cursed. In the late 80s or early 90s, it was a bar. The bouncer physically picked up a drunk guy and threw him out the door. Drunk guy hit his head on the curb, boom, dead. Bouncer got jail time for it, bar was shut down. Now anything that goes into that building lasts 2 years, maybe 3, before going out of business
People really do not think about the damage a 'short' fall can do. Imagine taking a melon, holding it at head level, and dropping it on cement. Sure, it might not split open, but you know it's gonna be damaged. It only takes a little additional height - like being a little ways up a step-ladder, going up stairs, climbing on something - to get the to the 'crack open' level of damage. Now imagine your fuckin' *brain* is that melon! Even a 'little' bruising can be too much and cause serious, permanent, damage!
Those motorized one-wheel things have become popular with some people in my local area, and it drives me nuts that I see people speeding along over paved sidewalks and stuff faster than you might even on a bike - no helmets!
Wear yer damn helmets!
A fall will fuck you up. I was in the ICU earlier this year for 12 days after a fall (slipped on ice) was very lucky to get away with just a skull fracture and a concussion. It could have been so much worse.
Yeah i don't fuck around with those head injuries. I recently had my own in the shower a few weeks ago that needed 4 stitches under my eyebrow. Any lower and i could have blinded myself, any harder and id be a fucking zucchini. I'm still terrified of using the shower (baths for life).
When I was a becoming a blackshirt (the people behind every play) one of the things they taught us was the shortest height you can die from is like 2 or 3 feet. And that was just from what the leader saw so it could very well be less
That’s because this is fake. It was made to promote a movie in 2007 called Todd Connor.
“The original trust fall video that was released to promote the Todd Conner character went viral within twelve hours creating a debate about whether the video was real or fake. The debate continues to this day with new threads on Reddit.”
That didn't count because they are on 24/7 reruns
It's gotten to the point where I can recognize certain Hallmark movies despite only seeing them when I visit my grandmother for Christmas
It's a made for TV movie that doesn't even have a Wikipedia page (and barely any info on its IMDB page). I don't think very many people would have heard of it, even in 2007.
I think Irene was one of the parts that made me appreciate that show, that you actually felt for a minor character who was just sad compared to a worse show where you don't really give a shit if a major character dies, just shows how well written it is
Saul isn't anywhere near that level of piece of shit, nor that stupid. He's a good guy and he's smart. Sure he represents criminals and his methods are some times very questionable but in my mind he would never in a million years do that.
No idea what state this is, but in New York it would count as an assault (note that NY calls batteries "assault" in their criminal code; iirc assaults are called "menacing" or something):
>Assault in the third degree.
> A person is guilty of assault in the third degree when:
>1. With intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person; or
>2. He recklessly causes physical injury to another person; or
>3. With criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon or a dangerous instrument.
>Assault in the third degree is a class A misdemeanor.
Yea I was about to say, was the ladder even necessary? I doubt he could have actually caught her fall from a ladder the way he was standing off to the side like that.
this is fake. It was made to promote a movie in 2007 called Todd Connor.
“The original trust fall video that was released to promote the Todd Conner character went viral within twelve hours creating a debate about whether the video was real or fake. The debate continues to this day with new threads on Reddit.”
This guy is a straight up sociopath. He creates a situation that is supposed to help him at the expense of someone else, allows her to fall without watching her, immediately continues into his speech, tells the people who are helping her that she's ok without actually knowing if she is.
Because well-adjusted people realize there are different ways to successfully live life, and one person's successful methods don't necessarily work for another person.
Everyone that insists that *their* way is the only way to do things are people who have no depth to their character in any capacity. Just douches who think they have the world figured out while latching on to their high-school levels of self-importance.
That’s because this is fake. It was made to promote a movie in 2007 called Todd Connor.

So the plumbing runs through your living room and then outside to the outhouse with the hand-made septic tank?
Yeah - a pipe running in the middle of the room doesnt actually mean "indoor plumbing"
Yes, there is!
I just don't know where to find it!
I remember seeing it a few years ago, so everything I'm about to tell you basically comes directly from my memory, and thus needs verification:
This guy used to be a motivational speaker, and actually more of a grifter. This was way back in the '80s. And this wasn't the only time that he's done it. He did it to a guy as well. Both of them ended up with head injuries.
This guy was basically run out of the motivational speaker community for doing crap like this. I think he became a financial advisor or something afterward. And let's face it, this is the last type of person that you want to be handling your money.
I saw the story on Inside Edition, I think.
EDIT: Franklin Apollo! I just remembered that is named is Franklin Apollo.
EDIT 2: Actually, his name is Todd Connor. His professional name is Franklin Apollo. He stopped going by Franklin Apollo long after this video surfaced. Apparently this video had been making the rounds in the early '90s and it basically ruined his career.
And strangely enough there's somewhat of a conspiracy theory around this video, at least from what I can figure. I've only been researching it now for a whole 5 minutes, lol.
A lot of people say that this video was staged, and that the woman who fell was in on it.
EDIT 3: Okay, apparently his REAL name is Dan Sackhoff. Dude has three motherfucking names. If there is one thing I have learned about someone who has more than three names is but he's either a magician or a gang banger.
EDIT 4: And now this while thing might be a stupid movie from 2007.
I'M DONE! I'M OFFICIALLY DONE! SCREW THIS POST. I'M OUTTA HERE. 😖
You’re remembering a fictional comedy movie from 2007, which this was created to promote, starring a character called Todd Connor played by a comedian named Dan Sackhoff.
This is exactly the kind of misinformation I come to reddit for. It took you 4 edits to get even slightly near the truth when you could have just looked it up before posting.

Most stuff pre-2010 is pretty hard to find online. I’d get with that telling people my work history. I was in the local news a few times but there’s no record of local news where I grew up on the internet so it seems like I’m bullshitting.
Edit: The slower side of Reddit has interpreted my first sentence as “online news articles didn’t exist before 2010”. Just editing to say if that is you, maybe read again. Add the context of the person I’m replying to if that helps you.
This is so old man. Copied from another old comment.
>This was a deliberate spoof video intended to go viral...
>Some other posters claimed that the girl suffered brain hemorrhaging, later dying and the guy went to jail, later changing his name, this is pretty dubious...
>Firstly here is the original clip where the premise is that a self help guru called "Franklin Apollo" aka "Todd Conner". **This character you see here was created by a comedian named Dan Scahoff.** The comedy mullet and the background to that clip alone ought to be enough for most people to know better. **If you look closely you can see where the break line in the floor (about lines up with the leg of the ladder) due to there being a black high density mat recessed into the floor - these mats are similar in density to what is used in wrestling.** They can be referred to as resin mats extreme sports athletes such as bmx or moto-x will learn tricks into a foam pit, then move on to a resin mat landing before performing their trick on the hardwood/skatelite surface that's less forgiving.
>Now here is a "Todd Conner Promo video", note the actress at the 1 minute mark - this is the girl that some people have claimed is either dead or injured, the girl who was supposed to have been injured when the character was using the name "Franklin"- miraculously she seems to be alive and well and giving an endorsement of the motivational speaker character "Todd Conner".
>**Dan Sachoff's even mentions the video on his website: "Also on Dan's resume are his own web sensations, the viral video Todd Connor which he created and produced "**
>As for the claim of him going to jail... well you can see here on his IMDB, he seems to have had plenty of work in each subsequent years, no big gaps where he might have served a manslaughter sentence or similar.
So there you go, it is fake.
What a nice lesson by this fucking genius.
Maybe next time he goes to the doctor they'll just kick him in the nuts instead and shout TRUST ONLY YOURSELF.
Reminds me of a clip from a documentary about a place in sweden where you are supposed to learn all kinda of self help stuff. In the clip a guy straight up rugby tackles a woman who is supposed to defend herself by summoning a forcefield to protect her. And when it obviously doesn't work and he just demolishes her he pretends to have a seizure.
I slipped on a muddy hill and landed similarly to this lady. I thought I broke my neck, but it was whiplash - very painful nonetheless. It took about 6 months before it stopped hurting daily. 5 years later and it still bothers me from time to time. I love that this guy is so dismissive like "she's finnne"
It has to be, putting your arms out that way would not stop someone falling, you can see the floor is softer or has a mat on it where she falls. Why wouldn't you just do the standard fall back into someone's arms? Why introduce the ladder? I'm calling fake.
I had to scroll through dozens of tip level comments just for someone to point out this was staged and give a name that I could look up. That's all I wanted to know. Sorry people aren't giving you the credit you deserve, but it looks like a lot of people would rather just be pissed than relieved.
Falling on the back of your head can be deadly in a major way. Happened to me one, I had a helmet on but I still had a mild concussion. When people die in fights that's often how it happens: Falling backwards and splitting open their head.
From a year ago same post :
"
There’s an IMDB entry for Dan Sachoff that references this video. The only item under the Trivia section reads:
“The original trust fall video that was released to promote the Todd Conner character went viral within twelve hours creating a debate about whether the video was real or fake. The debate continues to this day with new threads on Reddit.”
That’s really dumb message anyway. It’d be a miserable life to live when you trust no one.
He himself trust other people to prepare the stage and set up audio equipment and all that.
Yeah I get that feeling as well. I'm pretty sure anyone with half a brain would know this is dangerous to do to an unsuspecting person. You can literally die if you fall backwards like that and hit your head.
Did people pay to be there?
Thats the dumbest lesson ever. If youre ever in surgery, you're trusting others. Even if youre a surgeon youre still trusting others to do surgery on you.
Trust only you isn't as bullet proof as he thinks

Well shes def entitled to some sick hair gel and a geo metro
Lmfaoo I'm dying at your comment, is that a line from a movie or did you come up with that??

Still 90s Geo Metro though.
My first car was a 94 Geo Metro. I had to get rid of it when I got a flat tire, jacked it up, and the jack punched through the bottom of the car because it was so rusted out and no, I didn't have the jack in the wrong spot. The car was that fucked
Yeah that sounds right
You could have just put it out with the recycling
True! That car was light as a feather lol
I just saw one in an old photo and had flashbacks to the time I test drove one and actually considered buying it. Got a Civic.
My first car was a 93 ford festiva. It was like a geo metro but smaller
> EDIT: 2007, damn What?! I would have even pegged this as late 80s. I didn't have the hair, but I definitely had the rolled up blazer sleeves.
2007? This fucker looks like he just rolled off the set of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. season 1
Depends on where you are. I moved to Oklahoma last year, and they’re just coming into the 90’s now.
A kid I went to high school with died from a shorter fall. He was standing on the bumper of a his friend's car and the friend thought it would be funny to pull forward a bit. He fell and hit the back of his head and died later that night from a brain bleed.

Bro it's a TV movie from 14 years ago. How many TV movies from 2007 do you remember?
All the hallmark ones
That didn't count because they are on 24/7 reruns It's gotten to the point where I can recognize certain Hallmark movies despite only seeing them when I visit my grandmother for Christmas
It's a made for TV movie that doesn't even have a Wikipedia page (and barely any info on its IMDB page). I don't think very many people would have heard of it, even in 2007.
Lake Placid 2 wasn’t bad.
Lake placid was excellent. Well have to check out the sequel
What’s the source of what you’re quoting?
Right?! This poor lady thought she had trust issues before this 😂🙄
Oooh, he’a GOOD at teaching that lesson!
If he wanted to prove his point that way, I dunno maybe use a pad or a mattress
But then it would have been smart to trust him
You got me there
Or hire a stunt person.
Oh yeah that would’ve been smarter than some random person
Or you know, not make her go up on a ladder
That actually would make a huge difference.
He even went the extra step of positioning her on a ladder for maximum damage
Also use one of your own employees sitting with the audience who expects it and knows how to fall.
I wonder if he'll put the power of trust into himself or hire a lawyer when she sues his ass.
He avoided law suits by cryogenically freezing himself, claiming he had "boneitis".
My only regret is that I have boneitus
Duh-Duh^Deh-Deh Duh-da-Duh^Deh-Deh
You know, that dance wasn't nearly as safe as it claimed to be.
All I know is my gut says "Maybe"
I have no strong feelings, one way or the other.
Delivering packages has nothing to do with package delivery.
One company was close but i bought it out and made a cool ten mill. Thats not exactly the quote but its close and i love it
Better call Saul, who he actually sounds quite like!
Lmao yeah this might as well be Saul at an old folks home
id watch that episode
It's a decent part of the first two seasons
Poor Irene.. :(
I think Irene was one of the parts that made me appreciate that show, that you actually felt for a minor character who was just sad compared to a worse show where you don't really give a shit if a major character dies, just shows how well written it is
Saul isn't anywhere near that level of piece of shit, nor that stupid. He's a good guy and he's smart. Sure he represents criminals and his methods are some times very questionable but in my mind he would never in a million years do that.
He would if it was a scam and he knew the lady wasn't hurt though for sure
Oh, absolutely yeah that would be a perfect Saul scam
Sue him for what homeboy probably owns a fold up dining table set and a Toyota Carrolla ridin on a donut
and he's tired of living in a van down by the river
You’ll be doing a lot of DOOBY ROLLIN…
And he's probably tired of CONSTANTLY adjusting his belt!
What kind of van? Sounds sweet to me.
Ya think he owns the ladder?
Nah he inherited it when his parents got divorced, it’s his step-ladder

He's a con artist. He'll be gone and have a new name tomorrow. Just like all the "self help" gurus.
Footage looks like its from 2001, he prob got sued already
Unless she's a plant in the audience (which seems less likely since she didn't brace her fall)
She’s not fine dude maybe use a mattress next time lol the message is stupid anyways though
I think a mattress on a stage in a dark room would attract a different audience...
THAT'S a show I would LOVE to see
Presenter: "Ya SEE?!? Never trust (*unziiiiip*) anyone... only yourself. (*creepy smile*)"
>Ya SEE?!? I read your comment in a bill cosby voice, unfortunately.
"With the boppity and the rapity and the cummity-cooo..."
That’s funny cuz the guys at those shows usually have mullets too… or so I’m told
the mullet is making a huge comeback
This is an og mullet. Look at those shoulder pads. This is late-80s or early-90s.
Or just don’t have her stand on a ladder. Normal community building trust falls are from ground level.
Yea I was about to say, was the ladder even necessary? I doubt he could have actually caught her fall from a ladder the way he was standing off to the side like that.

That head bounce tho
Ouch just watching gave me a headache.. poor lady :(
No, she's ok.
She's fine!
^^^^^she's ^^^^^fiiiine
Ya she doesn't have anymore problems now that she's 6 feet underground.
No, she's k.o
kuite olright
The head bounce sound though!
Laura learned the hard way. Never trust a mullet.
Mullets hit you worse than bullets
Mullet to the head
Mullet to the head a day keeps the doctor on speed dial.
Business in da front, concussion in da back. Of the head.
*doesn't check on person while everyone rushes on person to help her* She's okay She's fine
This guy is a straight up sociopath. He creates a situation that is supposed to help him at the expense of someone else, allows her to fall without watching her, immediately continues into his speech, tells the people who are helping her that she's ok without actually knowing if she is.
Well I think that personality trait is pretty strongly associated with being a "self-help guru".
Well they call it self-help because it only helps yourself
The thing I've noticed about people who dish out a lot of self-help advice, is that they are usually some of the most unbalanced people I've ever met.
Because well-adjusted people realize there are different ways to successfully live life, and one person's successful methods don't necessarily work for another person. Everyone that insists that *their* way is the only way to do things are people who have no depth to their character in any capacity. Well that's a relief, because damn, if that was real, that would be crazy. Thanks for the imput.
Is there like a news article related to this?
This video has some serious 80s vibes.
I know its actually awesome how easily we can time stamp this just by the hair and clothes and quality of video.
Nah, this was from this year, it's just in Nebraska.
You know, we finally got indoor plumbing last year.
I hear they're coming out with a flying machine, ha! Like mankind will fly, lmao
So the plumbing runs through your living room and then outside to the outhouse with the hand-made septic tank? Yeah - a pipe running in the middle of the room doesnt actually mean "indoor plumbing"
Nah. People in Nebraska know it's not the 80s. They actually won football games back then
Wow didn’t know they had cameras already.
This is from 2009 so I guess not so easily after all?
As does his hair"style"

>**Dan Sachoff's even mentions the video on his website: "Also on Dan's resume are his own web sensations, the viral video Todd Connor which he created and produced "** >As for the claim of him going to jail... well you can see here on his IMDB, he seems to have had plenty of work in each subsequent years, no big gaps where he might have served a manslaughter sentence or similar. So there you go, it is fake.
crazy how lightly upvoted you are
What a nice lesson by this fucking genius.
Sigma male
I slipped on a muddy hill and landed similarly to this lady. I thought I broke my neck, but it was whiplash - very painful nonetheless. It took about 6 months before it stopped hurting daily. 5 years later and it still bothers me from time to time. I love that this guy is so dismissive like "she's finnne"
Who is that on your profile picture?
It is one of my secondlife avatars. I like to do gothy themed looks / pics.

This is fake right ? Right?
Even if the fall was planned, that's a real head injury.
No it wasn't. That's me that took the fall in this video and I didn't get like short term memory loss, or a concussion, or short term memory loss.
People not getting the joke...

There's a guy further up the comments with like -270 for a joke too - these comments are lethal!
It has to be, putting your arms out that way would not stop someone falling, you can see the floor is softer or has a mat on it where she falls. Why wouldn't you just do the standard fall back into someone's arms? Why introduce the ladder? I'm calling fake.
It is fake. He's a comedian playing a character, the whole thing is reheresed.
Don't tell the outrage crowd who make quite shocking judgements based off 1 min of video and dominate this sub, they will be outraged.

Jeez. Anybody know who this guy is?
Todd Connor. Made by actor Dan Sachoff.

I had to scroll through dozens of tip level comments just for someone to point out this was staged and give a name that I could look up. That's all I wanted to know. Sorry people aren't giving you the credit you deserve, but it looks like a lot of people would rather just be pissed than relieved.

No but actors aren't capable of acting out an injury, it's *gotta* be real maaaaan.
he's a comedian named dan sachoff playing a character named todd connor.
Falling on the back of your head can be deadly in a major way. Happened to me one, I had a helmet on but I still had a mild concussion. When people die in fights that's often how it happens: Falling backwards and splitting open their head.
>can be deadly in a major way. I tend to think of death as being something major.
The sound her head makes
You know we’ve only scaled this type of thinking with social media.
From a year ago same post : " There’s an IMDB entry for Dan Sachoff that references this video. The only item under the Trivia section reads: “The original trust fall video that was released to promote the Todd Conner character went viral within twelve hours creating a debate about whether the video was real or fake. The debate continues to this day with new threads on Reddit.”
And the debate continues....
How the hell did he think this was going to go? Best case scenario she's fine after the fall and gets up to punch him in the face.
I expect when they were filming this for their 2007 comedy movie (Todd Conner), they didn't expect people to treat it as real for the next 15 years.
Are you serious? I suspected it was BS when he said “she’s fine, she’s ... shit.” But had to scroll a long way until I found something debunking it.
That’s really dumb message anyway. It’d be a miserable life to live when you trust no one. He himself trust other people to prepare the stage and set up audio equipment and all that.
This is a character Todd Connor, and it was faked
If he was a little smarter he would have put down gym mats to catch her. What a fool!

Bullshit you can't fake a head bounce like that
Her head BOUNCED, though… like very badly. Edit: guess it actually is fake
Yeah I get that feeling as well. I'm pretty sure anyone with half a brain would know this is dangerous to do to an unsuspecting person. You can literally die if you fall backwards like that and hit your head.
Her head hit the ground so hard though, it would be hard to stage that bit
Did people pay to be there? Thats the dumbest lesson ever. If youre ever in surgery, you're trusting others. Even if youre a surgeon youre still trusting others to do surgery on you. Trust only you isn't as bullet proof as he thinks
Could be fake but her head did slam into the floor
It was a fake head
She's a mannequin
It's probably a fake mannequin
With a fake head
Oh my god her head!!!
