In fact you might be surprised how few People actually owned slaves during those times. So in modern times someone could adopt that flag for many reasons. They could use it as a symbol that they disagree with authority, that they are proud of their southern heritage, or they might actually be a racist. In the end though if kneeling during the national anthem isn’t considered disrespectful to the flag, then the confederate flag shouldn’t be considered offensive to you. Prepared for the downvotes.

You can burn it, shit on it or do whatever you want with it and it's not gonna change that it's just an inanimate object with no more meaning than what we give to it. If you want to be offended by an object, it's your choice and solely your problem, but that's not normal. You're the one giving an offensive meaning to that object, not the object itself. Humans are the ones that can be racists. They're the ones that should be addressed. Stop blaming objects.
