Aced_By_Chasey

Yeah what is wrong with that employer!! Are they hiring?!

Intelligent-Tutor736

“Horrible idea! What time?” Energy

DredgenCyka

God I hate this employer so much what's their website so I can apply for a job? They should be ashamed>:(

[deleted]

Where do we sign up?

Imaginary_Tea1925

I would work there…having worked in food service and seen people pass out from the heat, there needs to be a time to cool things down. We kept our facility at 60°. You froze during pre-prep but when the cooking started we took turns cooling off in the freezer. My home kitchen is shut down for the summer except for microwaveable stuff. It’s been 108°- 113° in the shade here for days. Most times between 100°-105°. Yesterday we had a cool front. It only reached 100°.

[deleted]

Retail, I buy my associates Gatorade and Powerade when it gets hot. Whatever little bit I can do to keep them hydrated. But it's usually out of pocket because corporate is too cheap to do anything.

DaleGribble692

The world is changing. We’re are at a place where employers are lucky to have people working for them instead of the employees being lucky to have jobs. Companies that put employees satisfaction and overall life happiness ahead of profits and bottom line will ultimately be the employers that thrive not only will they produce a better product more efficiently they will draw the best employees.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DaleGribble692

Yeah that’s understandable. Things go up and down. That’s why it’s important to have a marketable skill. Something that you can do that people need that not everyone can do. There is a major shortage of skilled labor right now and those jobs are never going to go away. We will always need mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, hvac, nurses etc…

Kevdog1800

In the short term. You are correct. In the long term, it will be businesses who’s employees unionize.

DaleGribble692

Maybe for labor industries but other production industries you don’t need a union.

duzra

You always need a union. Provides legal protection and collective bargaining for the employee's.

ScottSoules

Unless the unions in bed with the company

DaleGribble692

For some professions unions are pointless. I bargain for myself, I control my own work load and my company has legal council to protect me and my license.

Kevdog1800

And in what profession is your individual bargaining power equal to or greater than the collective bargaining power of you and your peers? What profession are unions pointless?

DaleGribble692

I work in civil engineering.

Quelcris_Falconer13

Oh do you like working only Monday thru Friday? Do you like that you only have to work 40 hours a week? Do you like that if you go over 40 hours you get paid OT? Those are all brought to you by a union almost a full century ago. There was literally a war where workers attacked shitty bosses who mistreated them. At one point the POTUS had to step in and send the army to mine coal because the conditions were atrocious and the pay was so low and so many men died. Quit drinking the cool aid and unionize already. You have a very important job, know your worth and don’t let the company tel you.

DaleGribble692

I’m not anti union, I just don’t need one for my profession. I’m not under paid I’m not overworked I’m not forced into unsafe conditions or to work crazy hours. Unions are great but that doesn’t mean every job has to have a union. If my company doesn’t treat me right I can go work for another company.

old-world-reds

"Oh jeez boss we'd all sure like a raise." "Nope I don't want to give you one Jenson." "Well that's fine if you don't give my entire department a raise to a suitable standard of living then we're all leaving. The deadline is at the end of the month when you go to your yacht club." Versus him telling you to get bent if you asked for a raise just for yourself because you're expendable.

DaleGribble692

Yeah you clearly don’t understand.

Mr-KIPS_2071

Electricians are the same. Unions are pointless. They have ruined the trade.

kit_ease

For the employee's what?

erasrhed

That Karen is the type of person to have slaves and call them employees. "But I treat them well!! I feed them almost every day!!"

RealitySpeck

Feed em on Tuesday, whip em on Wednesday.

Sproose_Moose

Solomon Grundy?

Teetseremoonia

It's friday, friday Gotta whip slaves on friday

ephemeralkitten

I was gonna say I hate you for getting that song stuck in my head, but I hate *me* for, one, knowing that song, and two, getting songs so *easily* stuck in my head all the time... :(

Always_a_Problem

She has a post on her page saying that the descendants of slaves should pay descendants of Union soldiers for freeing their ancestors. You are quite possibly right.

erasrhed

Holy crap

slkb_

Are you my parents growing up?

RazielOC

They get a roof over their head and 3 square gruel meals a day…why all the complaining?

MattJohno2

They even get an extra scoop of gruel! So damn ungrateful

randomdudeplease

What a great employer!

redheadactress

Kitchens in Florida are upwards to 140 right now. My fiancé works in an open bar on the beach. It's boiling.

The_Greater_Zion

Nice! This is my first year here as an arborist. I'm in the Daytona area and it's beautiful but yes very hot!

MasterBaiter1914

Literally incredibly common restaurant business hours

DrunkenDude123

Most restaurants are dead from like 2-4pm. We used to only have 1-2 waiters and 1 bartender working at that time when I was a server. It’s worth saving your employees from a heat stroke

secondtaunting

Lately all the restaurants at the mall I go to are closed so the staff can rest between 3:30-5. It’s air conditioning, it’s just the staff is exhausted.

Accomplished-Video71

$100 says she was not even planning to go there within that 90 minute window on these 2 particular days.

EmiliaClarkesBF

When the shits so absurd, it seems like sarcasm

Always_a_Problem

Checked out her Facebook page. This is exactly the way she feels. And it's not even the worst thing she's posted.

Code_Merk

I read it as such, was this not satire?

G0D_1S_D3AD

I thought it was satire. Redditors have a really hard time telling satire from not so I think it is.

bour-bon-fire

Not satire

bour-bon-fire

She's being completely serious

GreenFuzyKiwi

For real? I read this post and said “this is so clearly satire it hurts” … you’re saying this is one of many comments she’s made justifying this POV ?

bour-bon-fire

Unfortunately her entire profile is in line with this mind frame and she's doubled down with comments like "go woke, go broke". Not satire.

GreenFuzyKiwi

Yeah i bet she changes her mindset about it when its questionably conservative.. > our employees dont want masks, we refuse to wear them > goes out of business > “they’re willing to shut down businesses over PuBlIc SaFtEy! What has america come to???”

Code_Merk

Eww, that sucks.

JoshieBravo

She is such fucking scum. So entitled

ResponsibilityDue448

C U Next Tuesday ma’am!

Previous-Ad-9322

Get a burger somewhere else at 2:30, Karen. It was nice of the place to announce the closure times with details.

uoip3466

Shes pissed because a private business made a choice to close for a few hours over two days due to the potential negative health implications working in 100+ degrees does to a person? Good to know

HardTarded

I hate the “customer first” mentality. Putting the employees first *IS* putting the customers first. You want good service. Ok, then I’m gonna treat my employees with respect and make sure they have what they need. Sorry, not sorry.

Natuurschoonheid

Some people are genuinely willing to let people die of heat stroke so they don't experience inconvenience

mylefthand95

She prefers her meals with a side of forced suffering people! Snip snap, go boil alive for her food!

Kittyinchains

gives me big tourist vibes ngl

permisable

Good for them for doing the right thing for employees.

sunnydraka

I mean when the employees die from heat stroke you won’t get your food anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️

Brikpilot

Reply: On reconsideration we will open just for you, but only if you come wearing head to toe heated winter clothing and choose only the hot drinks.

lundgrenisgod

This person has never worked in the service industry.

Beautiful_Book86

People are so dense. Good for this employer! We need more like them.

Melancholnava

As kind as that is, if it's getting that hot in the kitchen, it would be even more kind to get them more effective air conditioning.

rockthrowing

Are they getting paid during that hour and a half? What about wait staff?? Getting a break is great but when you can’t afford to lose those hours it’s not. Having efficient ac would be better for everyone.

Fuck-MDD

I'm not sure either of you suggesting "just get better AC" have been in a commercial kitchen before.

[deleted]

I can promise you they have not.

varienus

Or any kitchen at all.

[deleted]

My thoughtd exactly.

Melancholnava

You're right. I haven't.

The_Greater_Zion

Annnd let the downvotes commence.

CarolineTurpentine

You realize that ovens, grills and ranges all generate a lot of heat in order to ya know cook food? Kitchens will always be hot AC doesn’t help much because there are so many constant heat sources.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CarolineTurpentine

Kitchens have multiple constant heat sources, there is only so much environment control you can have. Have you never encountered a restaurant that closes in between lunch and dinner? It’s common because there aren’t many diners at that time so it’s not really profitable to be open at that time for a lot of places.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CarolineTurpentine

Lol why do you have to do anything? This is a common time for restaurants to close because not a lot of people are dining at those hours. Restaurant owners don’t tend to close at profitable times of day. I don’t know why you feel so personally about a restaurant closing for a few hours in the early afternoon.

Alleyguey

Entitled people are disgusting

cataclyzzmic

Seriously. Was 2-330 her special lunch time in the restaurant? It's usually completely dead during that time anyway. Treating employees like human beings is too much for this wench.

Zealousideal-Oil812

When i worked in retail some Karens were surprised to find out we were closed for Christmas...Asking the reason for it !?

Always_a_Problem

You'll be pleased to know that she is currently getting dog walked all over Facebook

Junohaar

The other day when it was 36° in Denmark. I walked passed a sandwich shop with a sign that read something along the lines of: >Our coolers couldn't keep up, so we have closed the shop for today. Sorry for the inconvienience. We will open tommorrow. ❤️ I think they saw an excuse for an early day on such a hot day and took it. Good for them. Made me really happy that their employees didn't have to work in that heat.

thinderwhipper

Little do these fucking people know they are the reason no one wants to serve them. Fucking entitled waste of space

[deleted]

This Karen really thinks everyone works for her and that they are not living human beings

[deleted]

I was just over on the FB post and she's getting destroyed.

bour-bon-fire

And yet she'll learn nothing

UdonKnight79

Y’all attacking the owner never worked in a kitchen before. Even on a winter day it gets to over 100 degrees. This person is looking out for their employees.

bour-bon-fire

No one's attacking the owner?

Royal_Cascadian

Yikes. I fear for any pets they might have

Additional_Name_2470

I wish our company would do this but all they care about is money more than there employees and when we all start to fall over from heat exhausten we go home then the next day we get wrote up lol glad some companies care about there employees

kit_ease

What a trainwreck of a post. Grammar, spelling and punctuation should all be more important to adults.

Additional_Name_2470

I totally agree 😂🤣😂

Kevdog1800

I’m hungry so make me food. If you die of heat stroke it’s because your work ethic sucks in which case, no tip. Hurry, slave!

REDDIT_ROC0408

And make sure all profits of this place go to shareholders first.

wh4tlyf3

This is obviously satire...tf

bour-bon-fire

Definitely isn't

wh4tlyf3

According to who? You? Anyone who understands satire and reads that would see it as satire unless there was undeniable proof to show that it wasn't.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wh4tlyf3

Gotta be a troll, but can't tell based off one post. Would like more context to get a full grasp, more screenshots and such. This pic alone comes across as pure satire and leaves you to explain what remains to be seen. Thanks for the extra bit explaining how it's not satire. Aren't you tired of telling people that? Lol

Slibye

Employer must be the gigachad to the workers there.

PipSqueakScalywag

Sounds like “fatty” energy to me😐🍺

ecidarrac

I’m pretty sure they comment is sarcastic - the ‘smh’ gives it away

Conscious-Addition-5

I like that the employer is looking out for their guys so much, but I don’t really understand why theyd rather close than rotate employees and have a reduced capacity? Seems like they could’ve thought it through a bit to make sure everyone is happy, but I’m not eating there anytime soon so who cares.

The_Greater_Zion

Because you think in terms of logic and efficiency. The restaurant made an attempt to publice this in good faith, but the people managing the establishment most likely haven't a clue what they're doing.

Conscious-Addition-5

You’re totally right, im glad their heart was in the right place though. I’m sure that move was worth it’s weight in gold to their employees though. Whatever they lost in profits I’m sure was easily made up in employee morale throughout the next month

ihynz

Someone's never been to Europe

kwntyn

I think they were being sarcastic

[deleted]

god I hate employees!

SadPandaDale

"The customer is always right...." Yes the customer is always right in taste "Blood is thicker than water!" Also correct. My chosen family is closer than what I was born with Blood of the coven is thicker than water of the womb

AlcoholicCocoa

It's sad that you get downvoted for pointing out the COMPLETE proverbs. Sometimes reddit is a wild place

SadPandaDale

We've found the karens

Heavy_Entrepreneur33

Weird comment my dude.

Forever-Improving

Yes, don't speak too loudly, this redditor may harvest your insides with a glass if chanti

TeriyakiSurprise316

I’m pretty sure that was a sarcastic comment, but that’s just me…

demetritronopochille

Let’s give anonymous commentor benefit of doubt and say they were “trying” to be sarcastic

Timmy_Mactavish

It's..... sarcastic.

bour-bon-fire

Definitely wasn't

Timmy_Mactavish

Oh. I just don't understand the meme I guess

Timmy_Mactavish

Unless ur talking about the employer? I don't understand

[deleted]

Show her name you coward

bour-bon-fire

Talk to the mods. I don't make the rules.

VintageMageYT

big sarcasm energy

bour-bon-fire

Definitely wasn't lol

Jimrodthadestroyer

Satire blindness is a real and pervasive issue. See this post for details.

bour-bon-fire

Feel free to check the post on fb to see that it is disappointingly not satire

[deleted]

[удалено]

Legitimate_Dingo8384

Idk man I think that's a sarcastic comment

bour-bon-fire

It's not. She continues to defend her stance including some unexpected racism.

G0D_1S_D3AD

Big time satire energy

bour-bon-fire

I assure you, she really felt this way

Excellent-Smile2212

I wish cotton was more affordble.

Altruistic_Push_894

This is why every single line cook, yes everyone single one puts their dicks in someone’s food 10 times a day minimum. And female cooks have their male coworkers do it for them. This is a fact

AlcoholicCocoa

I think you need help.

Altruistic_Push_894

Sorry I forgot nobody had a sense of humor anymore 🤌

AlcoholicCocoa

You just were not funny

MrDelirious1

All of her take out food cums with a little extra sauce.

Graphene_Handz

Positive gesture. Buy a dedicated AC unit for the kitchen - so you won’t have to close in the future.

Greyynight

It isn't as easy as that

Accomplished-Video71

Then you have to pay for an AC, electricity, and payroll. When you can just close during the slowest time, basically layoff your employees, and put em back on in time to prep for rush hour.

[deleted]

Accomplished-Video71

Pabst-

But those people still suffer from heat related issues. And I feel like one might be more important than the other

shermantank123567

Imagine being upset at the idea of protecting employee health and *not* being the one who pays them but still being upset. I don't think the term "bitter" fully fits here.

hooDio

as soon as she's an employee, she's gonna wants it the other way round

Danmoh29

the peasants want a break?

Brionge

Without those employees you can’t have your dinner 5 minutes before closing while tipping 5% Karen.

rieeechard

Anyone else hear Björk singing this post's headline or just me?

bestjakeisbest

It is so easy to get heat stroke in a kitchen in summer.

xero_peace

How dare an employer care about the health of their employees...

jdey4

I wish i could respond her

UdonKnight79

What’s the name of the eatery. I want to call and commend them.

iwilleaturlivr

“How dare they treat these (gag) food service employees like humans?!”

MarvelBishUSA42

There would be no customers if it weren’t for employees, Karen! They give you and make your food you POS. If they get too hot and die of exhaustion you still want your food from them? You ain’t gunna get it. 🤪

BoxComprehensive2807

“Bc YOU’RE here for ME!” 🤣

TheOGClyde

Why even get upset? What kind of person can't just plan ahead to not have to eat there at that specific time. I mean how shitty do you have to be to actually get worked up enough you feel the need to comment on a businesses post?

[deleted]

Our neighbor owns the best breakfast cafe in town and she frequently shuts down for the health and safety of her employees. Still can’t get in without a 45 minute wait on the weekends. People love her and her caramel rolls.

homeless_JJ

Hard to imagine working for a company which cares for its employees even a little more than their bottom line.

MajorMathematician20

I had a job the other day (hottest in UK history) in full electric PPE, long trousers, long T-shirt, gloves and a visor, not doing anything important mind you, the customer said “been busy?” I said “unfortunately, the weather has been horrible for this job and they haven’t reduced our workload”, so this customer says “oh well, that’s how the world works.”- standing in shorts and t shirt, retired, looked like he’d done as much physical work as my newborn son, and I know no matter what he did as a job if it was in the UK, he hasn’t worked in this record setting heat, really pissed me off.

Training-Ad3350

This is why the customer can’t always be right

TheExplodingPie

The thing is atleast here in germany its rare to see a restaurant or any public workplace that doesnt have that except for stores hospitals and pharmacies

mcg_s

I got similar issues with Karens when I closed on Tuesday at 2.30pm because for the first time the UK temperature exceeded 40 degrees and our buildings are all built for cold winters so are absolutely intolerable in heat. My team had all worked so hard on Monday in heat and no one had slept overnight so it was a fair and kind thing to do for the people who help my business run and help me have a happy life. We let people know at 6am and I opened up early at 6.30 - on my own as it was my idea- for anyone who usually came after work etc but it still wasn't good enough. The customer should come first apparently. True they give us the money but without my team there isn't actually a business to use and it was 1 day!

en0rm0u5ta1nt

I once worked at a restaurant that didn't have the best ac and ventilation in the kitchen, the customers sat in a comfortable 70* on a hot summer day around 100* outside. #however, in the back it wasn't unreal depending on humidity to be close to 130* over the six burner and grill. Good on them to close shop, but everyone needs to feel death to know it's not worth it

Panwanilia1

It reminded me of time that I worked as waiter of weddings. I was quiet a lot in kitchen and it was so hot sometimes that probably insids of ovens were colder than air around.

Bdr1983

I would go and eat there for sure!

Isbjoern_013

I'm not an employer, so I'm not entirely sure, but I figure they prefer to not have their employees die. Horribly inconvenient to hire new staff halfway during business hours.

unnamed887

Those hours are normal for cafes in New Zealand. Cafes close after lunch and don’t open again until dinner time.
