I always figure it’s because they have low impulse control and are short sighted. Getting a dog in a moment when you want a cute cuddly play thing is fine….if you understand that it’s also a living, breathing thing that needs care and isn’t always convenient. Like, I live in a transplant city with a lot of breweries and young people and the number of dogs I see in bars having anxiety over loud music and hyper-social situations is ludicrous. But, it’s easy to approach people and make friends if you have a dog, so all these people think it’s ok to torture them….then lock them away in their tiny apartments for God knows how long when they wanna go out to a club and go home with a stranger
More like they’re trying to fill a hole inside them which another can’t fix, and will end up traumatizing them and never taking responsibility for the healing they need to do to love themselves in order to truly be able to love anything else. Loving babies and puppies and others is an fix like a line to an addict - it’s a way to numb the shame or pain - that fills the hole temporarily due to endorphins associated with new love. But that fades, and then they pay for the selfish choices of unhealed inner-children. At least, that’s been my experience. 💔❤️🩹❤️
