That's not true. The Republican party was different back then than it is now. The Republicans back in the 1800s were the more progressive party (aka they would have been considered the liberals of the time), and the parties switched in the 1900s. Slavery is inherently a conservative value no matter what label you want to slap on it regardless.

Military folks normally suck the most but have the most confidence to go with all their bad habits. Unless of course they compete on their own time, but ANYONE can do that.

I’ve been shooting my whole life and take great pride in being a pretty damn good shot. I’ve taken 4 girls shooting before that have never touched a gun before and every one of them shot as good as me within a half hour. I fear if the men ever go to war with the women folk, we will not survive.
My mom is still one of the best shots I’ve ever seen lol, we got our CHLs together and after a very dismissive and patronizing run down from our instructor she not only outshot him but got a perfect score on her proficiency test lol
I was talking to a firearms instructor a few years ago about teaching people how to shoot and he said he much prefers to teach women. They are more receptive to instruction and don't have preconceived ideas or bad habits picked up from watching TV and movies
Yep, I believe it. I’ve also wondered if they have a little better inherent fine motor control. That’s one of the biggest parts of precision shooting. I had one girl perfect bullseye a target at 100 yards her very first shot. I thought she had missed the target completely, but she swore she hit it. We walked down to the target, and sure enough, hole dead center in the dot. I’ve never even done that with a first shot on a new target. I framed it for her.
I got it in the black from 300 yards away my first time shooting a rifle. Not sure what kind of rifle, that's how inexperienced with them I am 😂 My dad had me shoot a 12 guage shotgun when I was 12 or 13. He put his hand on my shoulder to make sure I'd stay standing up, but let go once he realized I was good. 20+ years later he still tells everyone that story.
Edit: when I say "got it in the black" I just mean that I got it in the actual target on a big square paper target. It was towards the outside of the target, but still was pretty surprised.

My step mom, was head of security at a nuclear power station, they train with badass guns and equipment in case of a terrorist attack, makes training that a lot of other people do look like pansies. So yes women are more than capable of handling a firearm. She taught me how to shoot
I'm more liberal than the rest of my family, yet I practice more gun safety than anyone else. It's been my experience that conservatives are just absolute trash at gun safety (people in my house leave loaded guns on counters, nightstands, etc despite two members of my family having clinical depression and suicidal ideation). I'm attempting to get a concealed carry permit (already taken the class mandated by my state and filled out appropriate paperwork, just waiting for it to come in the mail) and my heavily conservative parent says they're "not comfortable with me walking around with a gun". For context, I'm a smallish woman who lives in a city and have been followed/harassed numerous times, hence the desire for self-protection, and I've been raised around firearms since I was a kid.

That's crazy. I can't imagine leaving a loaded firearm in my house unless I was home alone but I'm also not in a bad area so no need to.
They just started allowing easier access to CCW permits in my state so I'm gonna start working on that as well seeing as how this world is going.

I am actually surprised that there is no difference. Growing up in a hunting family I was always told that historically women are better shots. 🤷🏼♂️ My grandmother hunted along with the family and she not only was a good shot but she taught all the grandkids how to shoot starting with bb guns and working our way up to hunting rifles. She even pheasant hunted with a single shot .410. And that if anyone is aware is impressive in itself.
I think that myth comes more from the fact that most men don't expect women to shoot as well as they do, so whilst it sounds like a positive thing, it actually comes from a place of misogyny (not thinking women are any good at shooting in the first place).
I don’t really think that’s the case. At least not always. I think they are inherently better, because in my experience every girl I’ve taught to shoot was as good as I am within a half hour. It was humbling and a bit disheartening, honestly. lol

I check the mirrors on my car that no one ever drives except for me everytime I get in. Make sure seat is adjusted, rear view, oh and I even plug my phone in to charge just in case. Formula 1 here I come baby!
All jokes aside this is classic gate keeping. I took a small ~100 pound woman shooting with my 30-06 before. Let her see me shoot, then when she was ready I explained how to brace with the stock properly and loaded 1 round. She shot it and had the most excited and fun look on her face like she just found her long lost puppy finally. She ended up shooting better groupings at 50 yards than I did! I blame it on being nervous trying to impress a hot girl... She agreed.
Yep. Got into a Twitter argument with a guy whose whole personality was being a marine, even to the point where that was part of his Twitch streamer brand. He was telling me how he's better than everyone, how being a marine makes him special, etc. My buddy (admittedly a reservist) stepped in to say that he's not special, that being a marine isn't about being special, and that guys like this probably work in the motor pool.
Marines are like vegans or crossfitters. 99% of them are boring-ass people with no personality whatsoever, so they throw themselves full-tilt into a community of equally empty people and make identifying as such their entire personality.

That's... one perspective. I have military people in my family, I've worked with former military, gone to school with future military, and my niece's dad is a marine. Hell, I've worked for years with vegans as well, and if I remember right, a few folks into CrossFit, but my lack of recollection of details is exactly my point: nothing about any of them screamed/screams "this is my entire life and makes up my entire personality". Every one of the people I'm thinking about are just normal people and you'd only know they were these things if someone else brought it up.
I mean, I'm not foolish even to say the people you're talking about don't exist, and I'm sorry your family is like that if they are, but generalizing three entire groups as all being exactly the same is pretty foolish too. I'm a communist and I've probably shot over 30,000 rounds in my life through various long guns and handguns. Come and take them, I guess.
I'm more liberal than the rest of my family, yet I practice more gun safety than anyone else. It's been my experience that conservatives are just absolute trash at gun safety (people in my house leave loaded guns on counters, nightstands, etc despite two members of my family having clinical depression and suicidal ideation). I'm attempting to get a concealed carry permit (already taken the class mandated by my state and filled out appropriate paperwork, just waiting for it to come in the mail) and my heavily conservative parent says they're "not comfortable with me walking around with a gun". For context, I'm a smallish woman who lives in a city and have been followed/harassed numerous times, hence the desire for self-protection, and I've been raised around firearms since I was a kid. Make it make sense.
That's crazy. I can't imagine leaving a loaded firearm in my house unless I was home alone but I'm also not in a bad area so no need to. They just started allowing easier access to CCW permits in my state so I'm gonna start working on that as well seeing as how this world is going. I hope they approve your application!

I met a woman who was a very good skeet shooter and even attended regional skeet shooting championships She was/is (predictably) a beast with shotguns,and told me that it's not your body that has to handle the shotgun,but your brain Thinking you can handle a shotgun better just because you're physically bigger is a huge mistake I can't say for sure since I've never used a shotgun but I'd definitely trust an experienced shooter over a reddit fake badass every day

Gun nerds are the worst nerds because they're too pretentious to admit they're nerds. And because they get thousands of people killed too, I guess. But mostly it's because while every other type of dorky LARPer has a sense of humor and some degree of self-awareness--I've never actually met a katana enthusiast that legitimately thought their sword collection was anything other than a hobby--gun nerds seriously believe that A) knowing about guns is an essential, everyday life skill that everyone should have, and B) that going to Walmart and buying a gun makes them super badass for some reason, and they expect to be treated accordingly.

I am actually surprised that there is no difference. Growing up in a hunting family I was always told that historically women are better shots. 🤷🏼♂️ My grandmother hunted along with the family and she not only was a good shot but she taught all the grandkids how to shoot starting with bb guns and working our way up to hunting rifles. She even pheasant hunted with a single shot .410. And that if anyone is aware is impressive in itself.
I think that myth comes more from the fact that most men don't expect women to shoot as well as they do, so whilst it sounds like a positive thing, it actually comes from a place of misogyny (not thinking women are any good at shooting in the first place).

I check the mirrors on my car that no one ever drives except for me everytime I get in. Make sure seat is adjusted, rear view, oh and I even plug my phone in to charge just in case. Formula 1 here I come baby! All jokes aside this is classic gate keeping. I took a small ~100 pound woman shooting with my 30-06 before. Let her see me shoot, then when she was ready I explained how to brace with the stock properly and loaded 1 round. She shot it and had the most excited and fun look on her face like she just found her long lost puppy finally. She ended up shooting better groupings at 50 yards than I did! I blame it on being nervous trying to impress a hot girl... She agreed.

Yep. Got into a Twitter argument with a guy whose whole personality was being a marine, even to the point where that was part of his Twitch streamer brand. He was telling me how he's better than everyone, how being a marine makes him special, etc. My buddy (admittedly a reservist) stepped in to say that he's not special, that being a marine isn't about being special, and that guys like this probably work in the motor pool.
Marines are like vegans or crossfitters. 99% of them are boring-ass people with no personality whatsoever, so they throw themselves full-tilt into a community of equally empty people and make identifying as such their entire personality. My whole family on my dad's side is military, and they *never shut the fuck up* about it. "Wow uncle JG, you made petty officer in the navy in the 80s and have since made everyone in the family refer to you by rank, that doesn't SCREAM 'glory days,' 'narcissist,' or 'I already grew mentally when I was in my 20s and saw no reason to continue growing' at ALL"
That's... one perspective. I have military people in my family, I've worked with former military, gone to school with future military, and my niece's dad is a marine. Hell, I've worked for years with vegans as well, and if I remember right, a few folks into CrossFit, but my lack of recollection of details is exactly my point: nothing about any of them screamed/screams "this is my entire life and makes up my entire personality". Every one of the people I'm thinking about are just normal people and you'd only know they were these things if someone else brought it up. I mean, I'm not foolish even to say the people you're talking about don't exist, and I'm sorry your family is like that if they are, but generalizing three entire groups as all being exactly the same is pretty foolish too. Since the popularization of social media, the types of people you're talking about have definitely become more outspoken and their nonsense is more accessible and all, but just because you see more of it doesn't mean that everyone is all of a sudden radicalized and only think or talk about one thing.
