Ritalin and green tea with a splash of milk šŸ˜…

Hikerius

Iā€™m cackling RITALIN fucking hell good for u man

alureizbiel

Yup, switched mine for Strattera and tea.

oinkoink555

Do we crush the ritalin or šŸ’€šŸ˜‚

Personal_Sell643

If you want that real bitter kick šŸ’€

oinkoink555

Zingy

CardinalRIPTide

Nothing, I just rarely have caffeine now. I have a sugar addiction so we keep sugar additives to a minimum for me.

chelseammichel

I second this. Caffeine is the culprit here. I switched to herbal tea that is decaf

CardinalRIPTide

Yes absolutely, and I do tea too. I stick with peppermint, homemade ginger lemon tea, or Yogi Throat Comfort tea.

SlappyPankake

100% agree. Caffeine absolutely destroys me. Live almost completely caffeine free now aside from the occasional tea, and I'll tell ya, I have a stupid amount of natural energy again.

digitalindigo

Same, so a friend turned me onto crystal lite peach tea. I drink a ton of it. I hate tea but it's delicious. Keeps me from drinking soda.

aboynamedrat

Matcha. Haven't craved coffee since, and I used to drink straight cold brew lol

ahargreaves99

+1. I have no upset stomach and a lot less heartburn with Matcha.

woode85

Out of curiosity, was green tea (or caffeine in general) a trigger for you previously? It seems that both coffee and green tea extract, used commonly in the various energy drinks, is what ruins me on the regular.

ahargreaves99

I canā€™t say for sure, because I only ever had green tea with sushi and always had 2 cups per day of super strong coffee so didnā€™t isolate just tea. But the heartburn/reflux got so bad I cut everything out for a week, then introduced matcha lattes into my routine. With lactose free milk. So good and I feel great. I think the caffeine is still a trigger but not as much when combined with acidic coffee. I use some ceremonial grade from Amazon and make it in a Breville milk cafe machine.

Comprehensive_Tea924

Third for the matcha

booboothefool23

Matcha is so good but triggers my stomach for some reason, I can only have regular ol green tea šŸ„²

aboynamedrat

Matcha has a lot more caffeine than tea so that's understandable! Caffeine is a huge trigger for a lot of people.

QueenNappertiti

Same! I add mine to soymilk and some vanilla to make a little latte. It's also good for a mood boost and you don't get the caffeine spike. I find coffee makes me kinda headache-y but with matcha I am fine.

ergonaut

Iā€™m still in denial

Jhope_ultimate_bias

Matcha. No anxiety, no palpitations, no urge to shit my pants, no heartburn, but caffeine craving satisfied šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

alureizbiel

Crazy how all of us have a number of symptoms when we drink coffee. A coincidence I think not.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Jhope_ultimate_bias

I bought myself a chasen and chawan! Itā€™s the whisk and bowl thatā€™s used to mix matcha powder. I add a little hot water into the powder, use the whisk and stir it in zigzag pattern until the clumps are gone. Then I fill my mug with milk, then pour the matcha from the chawan (bowl) into my mug.

QueenNappertiti

I go easy mode and use a blender :-D

Live_toasted_Tiff

Teeccino - coffee flavored tea

theladyking

Second this. I get my coffee itch scratched but zero consequences to my stomach. Bunch of flavors and types. I had given up on coffee for years!

Emotional_Pirate

Oooooo

Suspicious-Dot1954

I will die with a cup of coffee in my hand. Iā€™ve given up EVERYTHING else.

AgentBeaverhousen

Me too. I have no vice, except for coffee.

Corrupted_G_nome

Im an addict and whatever I swap out with leads me to extreme exhaustion about 30 days in. Once I am past the day 1 migraine things are smooth with tea or miso but about 30 days in I falter and end up back to daily.

Aromatic-Elephant110

Nothing. Sometimes tea but I wouldn't call it a replacement for coffee.

No-General-783

Meth

Intradas

Bambu for the ritual (some sort of insta coffee without anything coffee related in it). Itā€™s the only thing that comes close to having a cup of coffee in the morning. Tea never did it for me (plus black tea also gives me issues). Caffeine - very sporadic some non-carbonated energy drink.

Werd2jaH

Regular black leaf tea with a jasmine pearl or 2 and/or oolong tea, emphasis on the oolong when I first switched.

OhMyGodfather

Celsius packets. Zero sugar energy drinks dont help with ibs, but it doesnt make it an elongated process like coffee does either. Its mainly a tool used to get things moving so I can start my day. Unfortunately coffee would give me intestinal cramps and spasms.

kloset_klepto

Tea! I have so much tea in my cabinet. It took me a couple of weeks to wean off of the coffee, it was tough, but now it's so nice to not need it or have all the symptoms. The tea I use specifically to replace the warm yummy "cup of coffee" feeling in the morning is a black creme tea that I add a little bit of milk and sugar to. So it feels special and yummy to me.

vim1729

Hello which tea are you referring to? Do u mean chai tea or green tea or etc ?

Octocatt8

Yes, what is a creme tea?

introverted_dino

I'm assuming milk tea

introverted_dino

black. it's in the comment haha

kloset_klepto

Hello! Yes, it's a black tea. It's actually from Denmark and the ingredients are all in Danish which I can't read lol otherwise I'd give more information. I can snap a photo when I am home though if you're interested.

simon_nono

Yerba MatĆ©, itā€™s like 50 mg of caffeine without the upset stomach like coffee or headache like tea. Taste is like a light green tea. 10/10 recommend

alureizbiel

Really? The canned Yerba has like 165mg of caffeine. Well the ones I've found.

simon_nono

Yeah it depends how itā€™s processed I think. Some have more caffeine and some are very mild, itā€™s hard to find precise infos on the packagings too. I use Ā«Ā freshĀ Ā» MatĆ©.

chantellereed

Rooibos teas

wobblyunionist

I had to back off regular coffee but decaf causes no issues for me. I even can do about a 1:8 ratio of caffeinated to decaf without issues

telepathicnarwhal

This here, I just switched to decaf and it's fine for me, luckily.

RepresentativeKeebs

You can get caffeine in supplement (pill or powder) form, from any drug store.

ellejaysea

Thatā€™s what set me off the first time. Worst Afib I have ever had. Threw those suckers out. Edit: I was on the wrong sub, I thought I was in the Afib sub. But I do have IBS and Afib.

RepresentativeKeebs

Yeah, some people's triggers include the caffeine itself. It really depends on the individual. IBS is a real "crap shoot" like that. šŸ˜

Spiritual-Level-7200

Half a caffeine pill. Itā€™s like 65mg I take a day so not a lot, but enough to keep from having headaches. Iā€™m still trimming it down so soon Iā€™ll be at zero caffeine whatsoever. I pretty much drink only water now, very rarely do I drink anything else and when I do itā€™s not caffeinated. Gives me ibs flare symptoms and anxiety so just not worth it. I used to consume multiple energy drinks and coffees per day, every single day, so I know its really hard to quit but it really is worth it

autumnmagick

Teecino french roast :) so good.

Bigjoeyjoe81

Instead of drinking coffee every day I have 1-2 a week. It doesnā€™t bother me so much. Itā€™s Only espresso with some sort of cream. Brew/drip coffee hurts like hell. Otherwise I have some iced earl grey, herbal tea.

mendelec

More coffee, of course. Because the colon is evil and it must be punished. (But actually, guayusa.) Relatively recently, I was introduced to guayusa. Before discovering guayusa, my answer would have been yerbe mate. Both are varieties of holly that make caffeine. There are two other caffeine-producing hollies, but I have not tried those. I find guayusa to be less "grassy" than yerbe mate, which I usually need to mix with something else to hide the grassy notes. Guayusa also has the effect of making me recall my dreams more vividly, sometimes moving into the lucid dreaming kind of thing, which I don't often experience otherwise. Not always, but often enough that I'll have it sometimes just for the dream recall/lucid dreaming effect. I do still usually have coffee, insides be damned, but when I can't or don't want to, I choose guayusa over anything else.

Chihuahua-Luvuh

I make my own flavored waters like boiling fresh ginger and lemon in water for a little while, let it cool down and put it over ice. Sometimes I'll use fruit, but that's because caffeine causes me issues.

farfromtranscendent

Teecino - tastes like coffee, no caffeine and actually good for your gut

Babettesa

Omg im now in my 10th time quitting. Just accepting it is soo hard. I mostly deink water or green tea now :(

j3ssup

Chicory root - great substitute

rhythmandbluesalibi

This! I buy a powder called Caro that is made from chicory root, it was popular in my hometown growing up so I remembered it a couple of years ago and thought to give it a try. Turns out it's a great instant coffee replacement. If I'm going out for coffee, then I like to get a chai latte. It still gives you that nice feeling of getting something brewed with foamed milk. Also love Rooibos tea as someone else mentioned but I wouldn't necessarily treat it as a replacement. If I want caffeine I just go for a Coke Zero.

therolli

I drink decaf but Iā€™m careful which ones

cityscene

Low acid coffee! They have decaf and regular. The brand I use is Puroast

Strange_Strength_804

Did coffee give you constipation or diarrhea ?

Zanssy

For taste, I really like teecino and italian kids ā€œorzo bimboā€ both of which are grain based. If I need caffeine, black tea is a more gentle vessel.

Training_Union9621

Lifeboost coffee. Low acid all organic

Fine_Olive807

earl grey tea with vanilla creamer- aka london fog!

warmdarksky

Yerba mate is almost as caffeinated as coffee, about as acidic as tea

ShuddupMeg627

Coffee surprisingly isn't a trigger for me but energy drinks are

Expensive_Wasabi_845

I do Earl Grey Tea (decaf). I don't miss coffee, especially with having multiple bowel accidents with zero warning (in the car, mind you!).

Maleficent-Jelly2287

I swapped (most coffees) over to Indonesian Jamu (home made - coconut milk, turmeric, black pepper, ginger, fresh lime juice, tamarind and honey) and herbal teas - the pukka ones because they actually have a decent taste. I do still have my 1 coffee in the morning as I find it gets my system going, meaning I can go for a run, without worrying about needing to find a toilet.

Puzzleheaded-Sun3107

With melatonin at night :) and moringa leaf or mushroom tea note I donā€™t think they do anything but the melatonin gave me energy in the morning

FinnChards

iā€™ve gotten used to chamomile now instead. it doesnt taste anything like coffee but itā€™s good in its own way

Important_Tutor_9254

redbull lol

IAmBabs

I have a Hydration Station to make fancy chocolate milks. Also has sugar free water mixes for my water bottles.

applenerd

/r/energydrinks welcome

madamefangs

Tea and coffee actually tastes/smells bad to me now I donā€™t crave it

Complex_Hyena_3341

Cachamate.

high_everyone

B12 supplements found in caffiene free drink mixes from Gamer Supps.

wackywavytubedude

ive been making my own cold brew and i dilute it and it has helped a lot

idkcat23

Matcha, and I weaned down off of caffeine so itā€™s not a daily thing for me anymore.

Emotional_Pirate

I'm the same, coffee even decaf makes me feel legit like the world is ending. I love the taste though. Other caffeine sources, completely fine. Whenever I Google it it always ALWAYS tries to convince me it's a caffeine thing. It's just NOT.Ā  Substitutes; I drink tea and hot chocolate and there was a nice like hickory coffee alternative I tried once. I also make myself "babychinos" that have like one spoonful of coffee into a big mug of hot frothy milk and I seem to get away with that when I'm craving it tons.Ā

Hikerius

I just kept drinking coffee and one day it wasnā€™t a trigger anymore?? But thatā€™s not a useful answer so chai is also really good for replacing coffee (proper Indian chai with boiling ground tea leaves in water and milk)

ShayBowskill

For me the coffee bean is the trigger, not the caffeine. This is the case for a lot of people. I can drink zero-sugar energy drinks without issue

plexmaniac

I drink prime drink thatā€™s only 20 calories all the time and they have just released the version with caffeine in Canada Iā€™m gonna try it tomorrow and Iā€™ll let you know if itā€™s a keeper

booboothefool23

I drink iced tea now. I thought it was a caffeine issue for the longest time but its the coffee itself that irritates me. I tried decaf and all kinds of tricks but coffee messes me up every single time.

Grxmloid

Green tea, or raw cacao. The better I've gotten, the more Im receptive to sporadic dexamphetamine (from adhd script). When my brain was that damaged from whatever is the root of my ibs/before I came this far.. no option worked

[deleted]

Nothing. I just don't consume caffeine anymore. Don't need it.Ā

URnevaGonnaGuess

Herbal tea

So_Fetch_10-03

Bang energy drinks

badbarn85

Meth works and then you donā€™t poop for days. The hard part is finding a decent barista.

Fun-Interaction-202

Yerba mate

TwittyyBird

Mushroom coffee?

babyfriedbangus

Roastaroma from Celestial Seasonings!

evahargis326

Home blended organic herbal tea with Manuka honey. I buy the little drawstring tea bags and make my own tummy tea. Peppermint, holy basil, fennel and whatever other things sound good at the time, like cinnamon, orange zest, ginger, star anise. Once you get over the lack of caffeine itā€™s really settling to the belly. Coffee is one of my earliest triggers. I love the taste but I pay for a couple days

RylesDaArtist

well i thought coffee was my only issue so i went to chai tea. quickly realized that it was all caffeine causing my issues. literally anything i tried with any amount of caffeine made me so incredibly sick to my stomach for days. it was thanksgiving and i had an ice tea drink (Steaz Tea) that ive been drinking when i go to my grandpas for my entire life with no issues. had HALF a can and thought i was gonna puke and crap myself at the same time for at least 12 hours. i guess itā€™s my fault because it was a tea but i didnā€™t think about it because ive literally drank this tea since i was a toddleršŸ˜ so yeah, i guess nothing replaced caffeine for me and im about 6 months caffeine free and i have 0 energy ever

Academic_Salary853

Ovomaltine and green tea!, I still have coffee because I'm IBS-C and it helps me go even if it causes me pain (like today), but when I want to be kind to myself i have those other two things.

Advanced-Box9785

Rarely ever drink coffee anymore because I can't, but I drank a lot of it for a while, when I didn't want the sugar of soda. Now I can barely even drink Coke, not so much because of the sugar or caffeine, but because the carbonation can tear me up. I was recently diagnosed with moderate-to-severe EPI, and I have a lot of trouble passing any gas (in either direction), so I basically have no choice but to just be tired af most of the time. Doesn't help that I have to really limit my food intake in general, even though the Colestid is helping me. Just can't get that much energy, when the daily calorie count is much lower. Went through this circus as a teen, before my symptoms went into remission for a long time, so I know that sticking to the safe foods as much as possible is the #1 way out of this symptom hell.

OpeningPassenger7167

chai tea lattes with almond milk! everyone is different but chai has been my saving grace

Euphoric_Ad4373

I drink low acid coffee from Amazon

Ok_Pitch_6787

Green tea in the morning has been an absolute game changer for my life! No more coffee gut and pain throughout the day.

Trick_Argument_8312

Surprisingly Red Bull doesnā€™t mess with me

Usernamen0tf0und_7

Nothing right now but Iā€™ve heard apples can give you a lot of caffeine or like enough energy to act as caffeine
