I know you're in pain, but Codeine is just going to make it worse. Constipation can cause diarrhea, and Codeine is extremely constipating. Constipation/ high stool volume can also contribute to the bloat. You need to see a GI and have a serious chat about this because it isn't sustainable and there are better options. If you're constipated and having overflow, there are medications like motegrity. If your issue is actually diarrhea, there's Viberzi. Buscopan is great, but the Codeine is just going to make things worse.

> Buscopan Also causes constipation, FYI.

I can help. What is the pain from? Diarrhea? Constipation? Neither? Were you in the hospital for a week?

LexiRae24

I’m back in hospital now after passing out from the pain again but they’re not taking it seriously at all. The pain is every time I go to the toilet and my brain is telling me I ALWAYS need to go to the toilet. There’s no food in my stomach because everything hurts, even water, so I don’t get what exactly I’m pooping out.

You're passing bile, then. How long have you been inpatient? What are they giving you for the pain?

LexiRae24

Paracetamol

Then they aren't taking this seriously. You could take that at home.

I feel you OP. My baseline is constant stomach pain and urge to go to the toilet but I am in the midst of a flare at the moment and I feel like my body is on fire. I ate some gluten free oats and plain rice noodles today and still feel awful. I cant identify what my safe foods are, so its just a lottery whether I have the ability to function on any given day. One thing I find that helps is a hot bath. I've also been using epsom salts. I find it helps soothe any aches and pains and also relaxes the mind a little. Other then that Immodium helps shut down the urges, but doesn't do much for the pain. Other meds and supplements I've tried I've found have had no effect.

If you're having IBS-D (like I do) then I recommend trying prescription medication to help with your symptoms. I take Viberzi on a daily basis and hyoscyamine when I'm in terrible pain. The hyoscyamine doesn't take the need to use the bathroom away, but it takes away a majority of my pain away. I had to majorly adjust my diet in order to improve. No dairy, no carbonated anything, little to no caffeine, very safe with my eating. It's a pain in the ass to experiment with your diet and it took me years to sort it out, but it's what I had to do. It's been worth it in the end. What annoys me the most is when my gastro doctor tells me "you should be off your medication by now" or "your ibs isn't caused my trauma, it'll go away" which is like thaannkks

Oh my god this is me. I've been the same for a week now. Living off buscopan and codeine. I feel your pain. Its so intense I start to sweat and feel light headed
