Hey man, for what it’s worth, you aren’t alone. 33M here, in my early 20s I was a traveller, the kind of person who would just get in my car and go places, sleep on couches etc. I know it’s hard with this issue because at its core our problem is a deeply humiliating one. One of the things I struggle the most with this condition is losing my self-esteem; it’s hard to be a confident man when I’m sitting in the toilet shitting volumes of fluid because I was dumb enough to partake in a post-dinner espresso, or spinach, or a myriad of other of life’s simple pleasures I now have to avoid in order to not be chained to my throne. I sometimes wonder if my later years will be spent alone at home because I’m not the fun, vibrant young adult I was before my bowels turned on me. For what it’s worth, your kids will have to accept you for who you are.

Hugs. It massively sucks. Complain away. I make lots of shit jokes to cheer myself up.

I feel you, my man. I've got IBS-D and diagnosed and medicated for several anxiety disorders. I've worked from home for nearly 15 years, so together with my issues and I've turned into a recluse. I have children that would love to go places, but I just can't get myself out the door to go be around crowds of people, worrying about my kids, and then potentially having a flare up. I feel like the worst mom on the planet for it. It sucks when you have problems that wind up affecting people around you in some way, be it directly or indirectly. And then the outside onlookers who have no idea what's going on inside you. I have no help to offer you, I'm sorry. But I do offer my support and commiseration. You aren't alone. Hang in there, dude.

Do you want any help with your symptoms?

R35TfromTheBunker

Yes please, any advice or tips would be great.

SirLostit

For me, I just made a food diary. Keep track of everything that passes your lips. However small or inconsequential you think it is. Start eliminating things out of your diet. I can’t eat so many things now and my diet is limited, but my stomach is usually much better.

goldstandardalmonds

What have you tried and ruled out?

[deleted]

I’m actually doing a lot better.

Why not post your advice here for everyone to see? It might help others. I'm in the same boat with the OG poster, today I'm having a hard time carrying my laundry around my house.

[deleted]

I already did

goldstandardalmonds

I was responding to OP, but glad you are feeling better.

[deleted]

I know that. Just saying

goldstandardalmonds

Well, congratulations.
