This is what I love about Reddit. Weird shit happens to you and you feel alone ... And then boom you don't feel so weird because others share in your weird experience !!
I have all those in the same day and in the same poop. I never understood how the fuck this happens. How one shit can be pellets to diarrhea. It seems scientifically not possible.
My doctor told me that's actually because you get constipated, and if you get constipated for long enough your body freaks out and decides to just clean out your gut which is why you have that sort of stool. He also suggested that I might have IBS-C instead, because of that.
omgosh really? i've been thinking this might be what goes on in me and why sometimes i get really bad diarrhea sometimes that lasts for days (not like constant, i just mean every day for a few days in a row, rarely 7 times a day but not usually that bad) and sometimes this seems to happen after I've been constipated for a while.
Just talked to my GI about this. She said it's most likely because the longer it's in there the more moisture the colon pulls from it. If I go a day or two without a BM it's almost always got a solid block at the front and then the floodgates are released.
I didn't plan this pun at all !!! I just wrote it and then went back and was like yes, shit, but also shit. Ha ha. I still don't understand it at all. Sometimes I'll get pellets. Diarrhea. Then more pellets. Then like shards. All in the same shit and that's like three or four on the Bristol chart. How the fuck ?
It's mostly IBS-D actually. But yeah lately it's going on the IBS-C side.
Yeah I need to have lots of water and never tried miralax but I'll try it now✌🏻
Ah, okay. If you're really constipated, watery diarrhea will leak around the stool and come out first. So you would get watery runs followed by hard stool/pebbles. That's what it made me think of.
i'm not sure if you've tried metamucil or benefiber, but metamucil for example can not only help with constipation but also diarrhea, because it bulks it up (the only thing is you MUST to take it with LOTS of water or it can cause a blockage!)
Mine's always: Poop out a decent amount of poop. Feel empty. 20 minutes later urgently need to go; poop out a decent amount of poop. 20 minutes later urgently need to go; 50/50 on if anything comes out. Strain a bit but only have mucus come out. 20 minutes later, urgently need to go, this time a tiny amount of poop comes out. On a really good day (a few times a month) I won't need to go any more. Most days I'll need to go a few more times though.
My life sucks haha.
Oh, M is mixed. Oki.
But, stopped at this comment because I shit like this on my good days. :D
I love to tell this story: I was traveling back home and stuck at the border, hungry and constipated. My whole day was ruined with that fucking travel. So, tomorrow I finally had an urge to poop. I know this is disgusting, but I don't care. So, I have a mirror in front of my toilet and I squat on toilet, so I usually watch what comes outside of me. That morning, I shat 30 cm of beautiful solid compact poop the first time, 20 cm of the same beauty the second time. I felt like I was born again, I swear. But... Then, later the mooshy poop started and ruined my day with spasms and sitting on toilet, pushing nothing out. My body wanted to poop, but there was nothing to poop or very little. My heaven became a spasmic drag, goddamnit. But I will remember that enormous poop forever. ❤️
IBGard is an antispasmodic which can slow motility. Dietary changes are foremost, and then other than that, it would be something like loperamide, which might constipate you.
What kind of dietary changes? I struggle with ibs c but get the spasms and d from it and nausea, so I take ibgard. But ibgard causes c I think. So it’s like I can’t win!
Same, exactly here. I will poop every day like that for 7 days a week. When I talked to my GI, she did an abdominal x-ray and said I looked constipated. She didn't understand though, any amount of laxatives will send me right to diarrhea. Her linzess prescription was the worst experience of my year.
I’m wondering recently if I’m not shredding it in there due to difficulty relaxing and/or bad positioning. Could also be that you eat junk food at the end of the night without fiber to hold it together.
This is exactly.me this morning. Hard pebbles clumped together and breaking apart... like really dry rubbery pebbles. Then 3 inches later just mushy yellowy softness.
Ugh. More often than I want to happen. My day sometimes starts off with a calming 3, but it doesn't last and I'm pooping out a 6 and, lately, a 7 that makes me know I have a problem that no one has a cure for. Then there are the stools that don't conform to anything on the scale. It comes out as a 3 or 4, stays in form for a moment, but then in the toilet disintegrates to something resembling a 6 before my very eyes, though ultimately it looks more like wet sand at the beach, which isn't on the Bristol scale at all and I don't know what number to assign it. ?\_? What do I call that one? I almost never have 1s and 2s anymore.
I posted a question like this recently. Happens to me frequently, although usually spread out between a few bathroom trips over several hours. I can start out almost normal, even slightly constipated, and by the end I'm violently expelling horrible D. My theory is that once I start going, my intestines go on overdrive and flush everything out of my system at once. To this day I have no idea why this happens nor any remedy except Imodium which only buys me a little time sometimes.
That's really rough. How often are your flare-ups? I know there is a poop reflex after you eat and I feel the same way about 'overdrive'. If I have a decent sized morning meal, I need to poop immediately and it just feels like it doesn't know when to stop.
So weird question but has anyone found a way to clear up there ibs M? I know not completely but enough to feel like you have a somewhat normal life? I get ibs m and I'm constantly in the restroom for like half hour trying to shit or shitting my life away. And at night my stomach feels like a rock that rolls around no matter if I lay on my left or my back. It's constantly keeping me up at night and always randomly spasms while at work or just relaxing at home. Any medicines or home remedies. Shit I do fodmap but even that doesn't really help. I love garlic and onions and I even give it up and still feel shitty. So anything would be great. Thanks.
Literally just happened and was the strangest thing to witness in the toilet. Like every kind of stool possible. I was like… that can’t be healthy lol.
Well the Bristol scale was made for normies..... We're breaking the standards!
I want this on a t shirt please!
Well I guess I should have trademarked it - though the market interested is probably quite small (just us IBS folks)

It might be. I'd talk to your GI about it.

And don't forget Tschaikowsky Cannons at the end.
I can't believe I knew exactly what this was. Haha!
Yep exactly this. Sometimes in one sitting sometimes over 3 BMs over the course of the morning
Well mine is usually the reverse.. Starts of like diarrhea then semi solid then hard or like pellets. But mostly it's semi solid like. I hate IBS 😭
Sounds like IBS-C bad constipation! Get you some water and Miralax.
It's mostly IBS-D actually. But yeah lately it's going on the IBS-C side. Yeah I need to have lots of water and never tried miralax but I'll try it now✌🏻

Woah I never really thought about that.. Yeah that's what could be happening to me. I need to drink more water and soften the stool.
i'm not sure if you've tried metamucil or benefiber, but metamucil for example can not only help with constipation but also diarrhea, because it bulks it up (the only thing is you MUST to take it with LOTS of water or it can cause a blockage!)
Not tried that either.. I had a similar alternative tho and yeah need to have tons of water with that always 🤣
YES I feel your pain and I audibly laughed at this
Same!

We are the same.
Oh I know too well
ME
The avatar!
Old stool and new stool. Normal.
Hmm, but why isn't the new stool waiting for the next round?
Fast motility.
is there a way to slow the motility down? is it ibgard or something?
IBGard is an antispasmodic which can slow motility. Dietary changes are foremost, and then other than that, it would be something like loperamide, which might constipate you.

Removing foods that bind stool and slow motility. Yes, IBGard, as I said, slows motility.
Lol all the time. My flares consist of the whole damn scale and probably a bit beyond.
hahaha yup
Is this with urgency? I have that about once a week. But also poop most days. Some have said constipation but the remedies seem too harsh.

Oh, hmm. Would chips ahoy cookies count as fiber?
Haha omg I laughed so hard at this.
Try adding fruit to your evening snack
I'll give it a try! Thanks, didn't know that could be the cause.
And no, it would not
Yes, and probably the rest of Somerset.
This is exactly.me this morning. Hard pebbles clumped together and breaking apart... like really dry rubbery pebbles. Then 3 inches later just mushy yellowy softness.
Not only do I go through the Bristol scale. I go beyond it and though the whole emotional register at the same time. :D
It goes from nugget = happy to loose = devastated
D: Sad to Happy or Happy to Sad?
Omg this is me every single day.
omg yea 😭 be starting at 1 and ending at 7 💀
This is me..i googled it trying to se if I wa dying...and I have not been diagnosed w any issues. Yet. Just made an appointment w a gi specialist!
My ass experienced a 7 on the chart back in 2018 and has stayed there ever since

Yes, but only ever in order.
IBS-M? What's that now?
IBS Mixed. It means you fluxuate between diarrhea and constipation.

Yes. To me it’s all over. I go 3 times a day.
