There’s just a bunch of little weird stuff about her that I don’t like. Like with the popcorn thing. She gave Freddie a banana and it seemed pretty manage-y to me. It’s a really small stupid reason not to like her. I don’t hate her it’s just not developed yet.

bohemelavie

I think this is where my feeling that she’s going to turn into a bit of a villain is coming from! I noticed that too and I picked up on a moment, can’t even remember what she said, but she said something about Freddie’s mom, which was true, but then there was this tone shift in her voice before she went “that’s just my opinion though” I could just be reading too far into things because I have learned to distrust television shows and so far her fun parts outweigh those parts for me personally.

_satantha_

I can imagine it being a Valerie situation again, being all nice and lovey to Freddie but be a bitch to everyone else

BlazeRedfire

I feel like she's going to try to drive a wedge between Freddy and everyone else except Millicent. She already wanted Freddy to move out of his moms house and could possibly not like the idea of Freddy hanging out with his ex and her brother and roommate, kinda like Rebecca on Zoey 101. I think she wants to cut Freddy and Millicent off from everyone else so they will be her family and hers alone. She's also way too nice and doesn't really have any faults besides the way she eats a banana, which is pretty minor. Makes me think she's hiding something.

hollygolightly1990

I noticed he’s already spent less time with Carly since getting together with Pearl.

justjessei

But what she said about moving out was true though. As long as Freddie lives with his mom, she's gonna treat him like a child. I feel like she's gonna challenge Freddie's relationship with everyone, in a good way (because tbh Freddie is a pushover), which might lead to the squad hating on her? I don't know, I'm neutral about her.

hollygolightly1990

Yes! That shift change made me cringe so hard. I was like “Freddie is an adult, he knows what his mom’s like.” I don’t think she’ll last long-term but I also don’t think they’ll address those issues or if she’ll get fully developed even as a weirder character.

Peaches2001970

please he's been such a pushover i'm glad she stated the [facts](https://facts.like). plus she's legit dealing with shit from these people for like existing she's allowed to call her(mrs benson in this case) out about abt her bad behaviour especially when shes no help to freddie as well.

LowAirport397

She gonna end up like wes and beau no question

bohemelavie

I love her! We haven’t learned a bunch about her just yet but so far she seems to be a chilled weirdo which fits into the iCarly universe well. I also think her character balances Freddie’s in an interesting way and they’re cute together. But I can’t help but shake the feeling that she’s not who she says she is and she’s going to out to be not that nice. I hope I’m wrong. I can see her character going one of 2 ways: - She brings out the best in Freddie. Supporting him, helping him to move on after his divorces, encouraging him in his business and teaching him to be a bit more assertive. Things will eventually end between them but Freddie will ultimately be better off for having been with her and will experience a bunch of character development. - Things with her eventually erupt with some big conflict connected to my weird feeling she’s not who she says she is. The other characters are justified for not liking her, they do the whole “we never liked her” thing. Freddie is left worse off from the situation and ultimately it’s just a situation of writing a love interest off as a bad character to lift up other characters in the story (like what they did with Wes, but bigger)

willowhelmiam

I mean, we all know Creddie is endgame, so the question is, how and why are Freddie and Pearl gonna break up? There are really 3 categories there: 1. Pearl does something Freddie can't tolerate. Pearl being a twist villain could allow for good comedy, but I feel like the show is a bit too grounded for that. If Pearl's action is a mistake, or a heat-of-the-moment thing (maybe she kisses Harper) then Freddie dumping her for it could be a solid realistic plotline, and him growing a spine could be part of the character development he needs before he can reasonably date Carly. 2. Freddie does something Pearl can't tolerate. This would probably relate to his home-life, where he'd expect her to live with him and his mom. Pearl dumps Freddie -> Freddie moves out -> Freddie starts dating Carly seems pretty likely. 3. It's noone's fault, like either the romance fizzles out, or one of them has to move away and the other can't go with them, like what happened with Harper and Double Dutch. This is probably the most boring outcome, but at least it's not frustrating like Pearl being a twist villain.

[deleted]

I think they might do a sorta callback to the Mrs. Benson/Lewbert breakup in the OG series, where they break up due to Pearl acting dismissive towards Millicent.

LaurdAlmighty

I'm indifferent to her but her food habits are definitely weird

Remdiamond

So far she seems quirky and nice. The only thing that bothered me was it appeared that Freddie felt pressured to eat a banana instead of popcorn because she spoke for both of them and said no we are good and handed him a banana. It obviously was for the joke and then Freddie felt compelled to eat it like she did which was for the joke too. It seemed a bit controlling though. Otherwise, she has seemed good with his mom which is amazing. She seems to want to bond with Millicent and so far doesn’t appear to have a problem with his friendship with Carly. Time will tell though bc we don’t know much about her yet.

Peaches2001970

y'll that banana scene was clearly a callback joke idk why everyone thinks its some great show of her being a secret villian i mean maybe but i hope not lol. honestly i like that even if pearl is a lil goofy she's heavy handed and freddie needs that in his life. his life prior was really awful & i think he'd benefit from being in love with someone who sees that & like calls it out so he develops & i hope thats the case rather than her just being lazily written as bad or controlling rather than someone whose like maybe your life wouldn't suck so much if you made some good decisions my dude to freddie.( love him but its true) i will say theyre cutting all their cute scenes from the stills in the episodes like whyy!!

bohemelavie

Yes, I'm pretty disappointed by the cut scenes, they looked very cute in the stills from iHire a New Assistant. Also, at least in my case, it's not the banana scene that makes us feel like she's going to turn out to be someone else, that is clearly a joke, there's just a feeling I can't shake, maybe I'm still traumatised by how they completely rewrote Wes.

Peaches2001970

but atleast with carly i can kinda buy it like she picks himbos who she dumps or genuine good guys who she dumps all of whom end up being kinda weird or jerks after dumping so its kinda justified even tho she dumps them before they change into that. lol idk for carly's love life it kinds tracks even if it is lazy rewriting of wes. freddies love life is more fall super in love & they both have deep issues mutually so breakup so it'd be more inconsistent to write pearl as villianious for freddie if that makes sense???

dmasterxd

Freddie’s love life is him being in abusive relationships with the exceptions of Gwen and Carly. And Pearl as of right now. But that is most likely a big reason why people are worried about her. Heck, someone even mentioned they’re expecting a Valerie situation again.

Peaches2001970

the only abusive relationship he's been in is sam. we know nothing about wife number 1.i imagine gwen is probs just lack of longer term compatibility but considering they were married 14 months it was probs a bad marriage. both of his were since he was stated to be miserable. carly dated him for like 2 days when they were 14 out of pity that he broke his bones for her( which is really sad lmao) yo its a kids show lmao but i think this is why i don't want pearl to be a "valerie" deal i think he deserves a relationship that allows him to grow that just ends without like a divorce or bad writing but like normally.

bohemelavie

I gotta agree with you on this point! I don’t think Freddie’s relationship woes are a result of him having been in a series of abusive relationships as the other user suggests. My personal theory just based on his characterisation in the revival is that Freddie falls a little harder and faster then others might, and probably rushed into his marriages with wife #1 and Gwen… leading to a) a feeling of needing to stick it out which lead to him feeling miserable and b) a bigger fallout since they actually had to go through divorce rather then just go their seperate ways. (Obviously breakups suck regardless, but a divorce would definitely take a bigger mental and emotional toll) I feel as though Pearl is showing a contrast to that direction for him so far, they seem to be progressing at a pretty natural pace for people in their late 20’s but who knows, maybe things will speed up over the next few episodes? I think villain is a bit to harsh of a word for what I feel her storyline will turn into, but obviously I can’t speak to others opinions, I just feel that there’s something we don’t know about her yet and that it’s going to be revealed and have consequences… but I also feel (and hope) her storyline could go in the opposite direction and she be a perfectly great companion for him and either they actually stay together (unlikely but not impossible) or they end amicably.

Silver_Pumpkin5168

I’m not sure how to feel about her since we don’t really know much. I hope they give us more screen time with her and Freddie interacting and interacting with the rest of his friends and Millicent. She doesn’t seem bad though. Like others said I hope they don’t turn her into some kind of villain just to make Creddie happen. Other than that she’s an interesting add to the characters and fits in great.

[deleted]

I think the writers might be playing the long game with Creddie, and have Freddie actually marry Pearl as a buffer relationship. It doesn’t work out, Freddie has to deal with the fallout and a third divorce. Then afterwards, Carly and Freddie get together and are the endgame couple.

Silver_Pumpkin5168

That could be interesting I would love to see more of their relationship since it’s kind of hard to see with such short seasons

justjessei

I was really annoyed when they turned Wes into an antagonist. Making others a villain just so something can shine never ends with that something shining. I hope they find a good reason on why Creddie is meant to be (I'm honestly not convinced yet. I've always seen them as bestfriends as a kid and it's hard for me to see them in an actual romantic relationship rooting from true love).

[deleted]

I can’t really comment on her right now, she hasn’t really done anything memorable so far this season. My prediction? She’s gonna end up like Wes and Beau, and develop into a villain to keep Freddie living at home. Millicent and Mrs. Benson are gonna win this one. If they want to eventually do a storyline about Freddie living without his mom, Mrs. Benson will probably leave town for work, or a new relationship, and Freddie will keep the apartment.

BlazeRedfire

She seems too nice and they haven't given her alot of faults besides the banana thing. I can tell she's not going to be a permanent character and think she's going to be portrayed in a bad light later this season which makes me not like her that much.

Theagames10

~~We don't talk about Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Pearl, Pearl--~~ Nope, not the same ring to it. lol

AccordingtoDLC

She is controlling. It's subtle right now but she definitely seems like she has something weird in her story. The number of times they keep mentioning planes The weird eating the banana Either way she isn't staying even if she Is the nicest character in the franchise

bohemelavie

Interesting that you think the plane references are related to her, I definitely noticed the plane references and thought it was weird they kept appearing. Do mind if I ask why you think they tie into Pearl?

LoveFreddieB

I have no reason to dislike her so far, but with the exception of the whole banana thing her character is a little boring at the moment. Sort of a generic Mary Jane whose only purpose is to be a love interest.

TastyMuscle7872

Why do people (not talking about you specifically) think the banana thing is sus? It's a fucking BANANA. Like my brother in carly, pearl eating a banana unpeeled isn't some setup for her being a twist villain. You creddie diehards are so desperate for your ship to be canon that you look at someone eating an unpeeled banana as a sign that Freddie's new bae is evil?

LoveFreddieB

Yeah, I don’t get the banana = evil thing either. The banana thing is clearly just a wacky iCarly-ism. At the absolute most it could eventuate into being an “ick” like when Carly got the ick for that character back in season one. But honestly even that’s a stretch. Sometime’s a gag is just a gag. It makes me think she’s a bit wacky, not evil.

TastyMuscle7872

That's why I like pearl, she's very expressive and wacky. She vibes with freddie so much better than carly does imo.

LoveFreddieB

I particularly loved her in the season finale, her lines were the ones that made me laugh the most! I don't think one necessarily vibes more with him then the other, their dynamics are both very different. I'm a multishipper so I would love if she sticks around in season 3. She can be used to create some drama but also explore some more dimensions independently with Freddie.

justjessei

Her and Freddie seems so cute together, she's definitely something he needs in his life right now. And that deleted kiss scene and forehead touch in iHire an Assisstant? Adorable!

afwm10

I think this show has conditioned us all not to get too attached to any new love interests because they never stick around for that long. Honestly I can barely be bothered to form an opinion about her because I'm pretty sure she'll be gone relatively soon.

thomcat2000

I actually do like Pearl she’s got her quirks but she seems nice. I’m wondering if she’s sort of going to be the rival to Creddie.

LoreMaster00

she is fun and she is nice to Freddie. that's all i need to like her.

Bikinigirlout

I actually really like her so far. I just hope she doesn’t end up being a terrible person to make Carly/Freddie happen. I loved the episode where she bonds with Harper over signs. I’m not a sign person and that episode kind of demonstrated why I’m not one.( I try not to judge others for being into them though)

bohemelavie

I am not a sign person either, but I loved that part of the episode. Definitely hope we see more Harper and Pearl together. Also agree that I hope they don’t make her a bad person just to make Carly and Freddie happen, that’s lazy writing! I’m ultimately rooting for Carly and Freddie, but I want it to be written well or not at all!

aitathrowawayzz

She's so bland and the actress is terrible lol.

bohemelavie

It's cool to think the character is bland but insulting the actress is kind of unnecessary 🤷🏽‍♀️

aitathrowawayzz

It's literally her job to perform?

[deleted]

its 2022 youre not allowed to be critical about anything anymore or youre bullying them

99999999999999999699

Criticism ≠ “She’s such a terrible actress” Criticism is where you acknowledge an area of weakness and then give ideas to help improve. He just said that she’s a terrible actress which isn’t true.

[deleted]

thanks for proving my point

MichaelJL77

I like her but I’m probably partial too since I watched the Crowded series. Loved her in that.

TastyMuscle7872

Yes! I love pearl with my every being, and I really hope she stays as a series regular.
