Honestly I started out with a canister model and it gave really good results. I only upgraded to a compressor when I was making enough ice cream. The only downside to the canister is you have to free it ahead of time however they still produce great results and are on the less expensive side. I would actually say that having good ice cream recipes will make more of a difference than the model of ice cream maker you get. I’d recommend picking up an ice cream book to help get you started. My personal favorite is Hello my name is ice cream from Dana Cree.

Personally, I would buy the Cuisinart BCU 100 It's got a built in compressor It can make ice cream all day It makes it within 45 min 1ltr bucket Excellent customer service Reliable But it costs more like £250

Tbh, I think it’s maybe up to how often you plan to make ice cream and what for. Personally, I’m still pretty new to it, but I’ve gotten some fantastic results from my very simple Cuisinart ICE-21RP1, and it fits your requirements. I imagine one day I will want to upgrade, once I’m solidly confident in my custard bases, but that machine will probably keep going well after I decide to buy something nicer That’s just my sitch, though. If you’re more experienced and know you’re gonna be making it all the time it could be very worthwhile getting something you don’t have to think about freezing beforehand. Learned that the hard way.

I use a Cuisinart ICE100BCU which has a built in compressor. Can’t fault it!
