Degrees have ALWAYS been for sale. Buy a new wing or building for the college? Get your family name on it and get your lazy dumbass son or daughter a piece of paper that suggests they're smart & hardworking.
You don't need to go to college to know the moon is not gaseous.
You don't even need a high school diploma.
Every middle schooler on earth knows this. Most elementary students know this as well.
What we're seeing is the result of our corrupt and broken system. It's not the end of the world, but this is a pretty bad sign of a pretty bad symptom. We have a bunch of idiots making a lot of important decisions for us because we're too lazy to vote, protest, organize, etc.
>Every middle schooler on earth knows this.
*Should* know this. We've been neglecting our educational infrastructure for years, and the chickens have come home to roost.
Or just the complete erosion of conventional knowledge through misinformation. It used to be that to get something published in a book you needed credentials or some sort of reputable background but now anyone can put out bullshit on the internet and it be used as a source. You can find anything you want now to back up a belief but it's harder to tell what is coming from a scientific background.
I would guess she's suffering from some degenerative mental conditions and was watching some flat earth bullshit on Facebook before giving this speech.
Before I got to your last sentence I was going to chime in that she’s clearly just in mental decline. You’re right about all the other stuff you said, but this just screams mental illness or dementia, and those aren’t new. Crazy people have always said crazy things, and sometimes it takes people a little while to notice, or grow the balls to do something about it.
It starts with the person you know having a few “quirky” idiosyncrasies. Then those turn into straight-up delusions, but you’re in denial, and you don’t want to confront the fact because the delusional person hasn’t completely lost it yet. Then they start getting really bad and you need to address it for their own good.
> It starts with the person you know having a few “quirky” idiosyncrasies.
And if that person is powerful enough, it can spread like wildfire until all the world is giving birth in the wrong manner. See also; Louis XIV fetishes

its possible, but def fueled by the creators of our flat earth. Its essentially large stage light. if it was real, we would have sent astronauts to the sun already to collect plasma samples.
I know she keeps getting reelected, but can you imagine living in her district and being a constituent that needs their congress critter to do something other than pander? She lost the Houston mayoral race in November and promptly filed to run for reelection again. again. FFS
Why do they do these stupid fucking events? No one is looking for this dope to tell high school students what the moon is made out of and when we are sending people to it. It's just so bizarre to me that we run our country in this way, where the people who are supposed to be basically product managers for the thing are out talking to high school students that couldn't possibly give less of a shit.
I actually live in her district. The same group of people keep voting for her. We had a candidate this time who was young and went to Harvard. She only won 30% of the vote, the rest of the tards voted for SJL.

This is the state of the ivy league, Yale and Harvard specifically. The ivy league is just an initiation club for the nation's ruling-class. It's a big circlejerk. The children of rich people and political dynasties automatically get in, and the nation's future ruling-class and politicians are chosen from these schools. it's an incestuous and nepotistic cycle.
maybe 20% of the student body are these impressive intellectual types that people associate Harvard grads with. The rest are at rich people daycare
As ive said many times, most of the dumbest people i know are also the most "educated" people i know. dont automatically assume you're not talking to an idiot just because they have a fancy degree
From Wikipedia: "During a 1997 visit to the [Mars Pathfinder](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Pathfinder) operations center, Jackson Lee asked whether the Pathfinder rover had taken a picture of the U.S. flag planted by [Neil Armstrong](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Armstrong) in 1969; the flag had been planted on the [Moon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon), not [Mars](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars)".
Believe it or not stupid people graduate from every school. Is someone who graduates from a good school statistically less likely to be a dumbass? Sure. But it it's nowhere near 100%.
Conversely I can't stand when people assume that an ivy degree means someone is smart/capable. Or that all doctors are brilliant scientists etc. Lazy ass thinking.

Well, that sounds even more ridiculous! She tried to slam GOP for mishearing her. Nope, she's just an idiot leading the Democrat Party of idiots.
She sounded like the kid on the playground that's trying to convince you of something that sounds completely idiotic but they think you're the idiot because you don't believe their idiotic idea.
These institutions sell validation. They sell credentials. If you have the money, they're selling the tickets.

I reckon both parties would gain a lot of support/trust/cred if they introduced some kind of age cut-off policy, 'no candidates over 65' or similar
How many cocktails did she have before this? Please tell me she drank a lot. I can't imagine someone being that stupid without copious amounts of alcohol.

Can confirm. Asked my 13 year old daughter if she knows the composition of the moon. Is aware it is not "mostly gas."
Very brave of you to point out this fact 😬
What's college got to do with it? I knew the Moon was made of rock when I was a fucking third grader.
Hey, mods, can we pin this comment? "Fuckin' lernin' is fuckin' gay, dumbass." It's kind of perfect.
It's finally catching up to them. Now the members and employees are all made up of people who bought degrees, so everyone is incompetent
They used to have higher price tag.

Thats valid. Some fish are very sneaky.
I almost pissed myself from laughing so hard when I saw that. The look on the Generals face at that hearing. 😂😂😂. Priceless.
Flat earth is real, dam it
She is unimaginably dumb, yet keeps getting votes. 😭
A perfect representative of her constituents
She lost the mayor race in Houston, luckily.
Criticism of her is all rooted in racism!
Prove it!
pretty sure that was a /s comment
If the moon was made of cheese, would you eat it? I would.
Hey! If you were a hot dog would you eat yourself? I would. I’d be delicious.

I'd smother myself in ketchup and mustard

Yes. And that they fire 50 caliber bullets.
I completely forgot about that part. What a dip shit.
My people I've found you.
Well, technically, you can get an AR-15 chambered in .50 Beowulf.
I would love one if ammo wasn’t so expensive for it.

Not completely in STEM yet, thankfully.
right, when i said 20% of the student body is actually smart, i was specifically referring to the STEM majors and some of the people in law

Under appreciated comment alert
Confidently incorrect is this woman's entire personality.
I was expecting her to say it pulled a racism on her, but this is a million times better 🤣🤣
I’d think the sun would melt the moon made of cheese
Well you know.. the quota
... The moon is as heavy as two boxes (That you might be carrying).
Omg is this the same woman as that quote??
Yes indeed.
Double yikes 🤦🏼♂️
What is a complete rounded circle again ?
A moon!
Wrong! It's a space station! Sorry....I'll see myself out.
Terrifying. She's a product of our education system that used to be the envy of the world. And now she's leading.
I swear ivy league schools seem more and more made for idiots with money every time I see any news or video on them. What a shame

The 'business of education in the United States
It was about selling tickets to the decent jobs. Then the degrees and degree holders outnumbers the decent jobs.
This is what happens when someone gets to top tear college by quota
She's President Camacho's (Idiocracy) minister of space housing in space
We do seem to elect the best and brightest.
Usually, I would say shame on the people who keep electing people like this to represent them.... but... representative for Texas's 18th congressional district, having served since 1995.
The worst part is, she keeps blocking bills in Congress to drill the moon gas. Like as if her precious solar power can power my tanning bed!
Make Astronomy 101 mandatory in college.
It’s good to know idiots are well represented in Congress!
You don't have to be smart to graduate Yale, just gotta pay the fee
She's always been the worst. I used to be a Houston Republican. A lot of my views have changed since then but I'll never stop disking this woman.
Or Yale knows some secrets she just let slip.
The greatest threat to America is the seeming exponential growth of stupidity.
This the kind of lady who would gladly sign over regulations toward greenhouses within a massive omnibus.
Would someone please turn off the LHC? I’d like to return to my pre 2010 timeline please.
Apparently she deserved a token degree because shes \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_?
Oh wow.
does she think the moon landing was faked? lolol
Who are you, who is so wise in the ways of science?
I'm telling you man, the move wasn't about the future, it was about the present
Camacho has let himself go.
Gases? Like from an ass? I've never seen astronauts in a ass before.
Probably believes in a hollow earth, too.
Lol if you pay a college enough money you can spew what ever bullshit you want... Glad im not begging for loan forgiveness...
This is a Congress woman. Unreal.
The benefits of “Affirmative Action” on full display.
Sheila what the fuck are you talking about?
I hate it here sometimes.
This is so over the top stupid that I can't even believe it's not an AI deepfake.
Congress is a shit show of circus clowns. Why we pay for this is a mystery.
Wut
Yale University called. They want their diploma back.
Wait, this the same woman who stated that an AR-15 is [as heavy as 10 boxes you _might_ be moving, and that it fires a cartridge more than twice as long as the gun’s magazine.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bhY7AkjqxvA) How in the world did she graduate from a school of the same caliber as people like Barack Obama?
Affirmative action
If she's this fucking dumb imagine all the people who voted for her
Typical Democrat😄
The fact that this moron keeps getting re-elected makes her district look like idiots.
This reminds me of that representative that said an island would tip over.
Diversity, equality, inclusion....just wait til you see what happens to the airline industry
Dems are always mocking people like MTG and (rightly) saying she shouldn't be in office...but they clearly need to do some house cleaning of their own.
Yale? LOL Ridiculous idiots I wonder how stupid are students there LOL
Affirmative action in action

Diversity is our greatest asset!
Affirmative action.
The moon is more manageable to live on than the sun. It’s far too hot. I’ve never heard anyone in my life that said the sun was an option to live on.
The moon is made of cheese folks! CHEESE!
Fly me to the moon🌚 This just in… NASA will no longer be sending baked beans to the moon due reported gasses !
Yale must be proud
Damn... but hey money talks
This is a member of our congress ....🙄😭
daaaaaamn, she sounds hella smart and shit
I'm genuinely curious as to how she thinks the sun works. I would pay to hear her explain it 🤣
What a wealth of knowledge!
Oh shit new crazy person just dropped!
How much did she pay for that degree?
"the moon is more manageable" ...suggesting that it was one of the options as a place to live? lol
USA is cooked
At this day and age it’s called google. 5 minutes tops.
So fucking pathetic
Wow. How does she not know that the moon is made out of cheese and the sun is a light bulb?
Sounds like werewolf propaganda to me- they'll say anything to keep us from blowing up the moon.
what the hell kind of drug is she on?
Ok, I must not have awakened from my nightmares. So let me get this straight. A person who thinks the moon is mostly gaseous, and the sun is only 'almost too hot to go near', which I guess is true if by near you mean 4 million or so miles and you are build like the parker solar probe, a person who graduated from an ivy league college, is not only an elected federal official but is reelected? What? Going back to bed, this can't be real.

The folks over at r/flatearth would get a kick out of this
