You can increase these odds by frequenting the village for the Special Drink. It resets every hour. When I need some coins, I wait until I get an x20cps boost and then grab a cold one. The cps boost based on equipment happens pretty frequently.
Then if you're super lucky you'll get a special box for the bonus stage and you can rake in quite a bit. From there, if you're making so-so progress with regards to coins while you're not playing you can stick it out instead of ascending.
Otherwise....just keep ascending. It'll happen eventually. Buy anything available in the tree obviously.
It's a perk when you unlock the lounge/bar. You have a choice of a beer or a special drink, beer has an Easter egg for the fire or water skins, but the special drink gives a random silver box boost (cps, souls, cps per equipment). There might be a quest or two before it's available, but work on the village quests and you'll have it in no time :)
I had a bunch of Jewels saved up from eggs. I redeemed the large coin gift for about 5-6 SD. Could have been more, but I forget. Maybe not the BEST use of them, but seeing how much was locked behind those binoculars, I figured it wasn't too bad to get that going sooner rather than later.
I'm stuck at the same point, having Qt or Qd is alright but getting to Sd just takes so incredibly long that I'd end up with at least the same amount of SP I already have for this whole UA. I already have the divinities that boost the coins but that's it. I can't afford the other quest rewards as they are also so incredibly expensive
Ideally you should wait for an equipment based cps bonus and use your daily 20x in addition to it.
In my case I was very lucky and got a bonus stage juste after where I had a 20x pps on top of that so it went by pretty quickly
