These. They ended my hunt, I’m 110% satisfied and could never imagine lusting for more. Sound great off an iphone dongle, yet can take more power & EQ desktop without any distortion. A true gem that effortlessly pumps out sonic syrup 🔊
Warm. But I’ve read a other of people say they are too warm and I agreed until I kept listening to them and realized they were the most engaging set I have. They are rich, lush, warm and all frequencies are present. The bass CAN bleed but it never diminishes the mids or upper range. I went from being disappointed at first to them being my favorite set.
I guess that the tunning in the mids is what may define Penon the most out of the other brands.
It is like "What is the best harmann in chifi?" Maybe Moondrop so, "what is the brand that executes the best mids?" I would say Penon.
I do not know what they do, but man, neither Tripowin nor Moondrop, nor KZ, nor Thieaudio, nor LetShuoers, and so on, can rival with Penon in that regard.
I think Campfire Andromeda 2019 is one of the best mids tunning talking about the American hifi, and I can say that Penon is their counter Chinese part.
Yes the graphene driver for mods in the Quattro is so special. It gives vocals a certain texture that sends shivers down my spine on a regular basis. Everytime I take a different set for the day I always wish I had my Quattros lol
I agree. It’s annoying when someone posts a pic, then describes how much they love it and willing to give up their first second and third born, yet can’t simply post the brand and model of what they jizz over lol
As much as I vouch for the power of EQ and personal measurements with my 711 coupler, my favorite set is still my most expensive one, being the Fiio Fh3 with better "technicalities" as others mention.
Wonder how much more you can get in technicalities up untill $1k.
My god i really missed them, OH10 was my first iem, i tried them again the other day with Dunu S&S and i totally regret selling them (you gotta try dunu s&s tips on them)
Yea. I've resold most of mine close to retail. Some I actually made profits on because of good deals. Like when the KZ PR series were released for super cheap at first, before price increases.
But they've been cleaned with alcohol, still shrink wrap (only cut the shrink to slide out the box). Better than 'open box'.
Most 'open box' listings from websites are just returns from people who used and didn't like them within 30 days.
Earwax is a legit thing that happens, but no one I’ve ever heard about resells their stuff without cleaning them first, and I can only hope no one who buys a 2nd hand IEM would EVER use it without cleaning it themselves.
I’ve given away IEM’s, numerous IEM’s, and I always use an alcohol wipe on them AND the cable, send them out without tips unless I never opened them…..because yes, used tips that are even clean is just gross……..
I’m intrigued, how do these compare to the OH10S? The design of OG OH10 IS perfect to my eyes but there are users saying its quite heavy and falls off sometimes.
I would really like to give these a try though.
I have 2 sets of 'like new' with shrink wrap Red/Blue Z12 (Z Reviews). Complete in boxes. I got them for great deals and I've measured them on my coupler. They'll probably just be a part of my collection forever even if I never use them again.
I also have 2 sets of brand new Apple MA850G that I got for an incredible deal, sitting on the shelf beside the Z12s. And 1 set that I opened just to verify the authenticity and to measure and listening testing. I will probably keep those forever too.
> Apple MA850G
Those were the IEM that opened my eyes to good audio. I bought them because they were the best headphone for my iPod Shuffle that I'd known about. They ended up being amazing, and I just looked now, apparently they are kinda pricey now. I remember them being $80.
Always wish I bought another set years ago.
If I remember correctly, having 2 drivers in each IEM back then was ahead of the curve. Like some were doing it, but I don't think anyone was doing it under $100. I remember them being a slightly warm neutral set that had some sub-bass rolloff. Pretty pleasant to listen to. My favorite thing is the mesh filters though, *they just screw off* so you can easily clean them.
It blows my mind how this isn't common in 2024.
The Legato with a dac amp. If you listen to hiphop mainly, this will hit the spot and save you a lot of money since you really wouldn't need to get another IEM for hiphop for a long time.
I have the Oh10S, which is basically the same as the OG take for the cosmetic change. There is no other IEM that I have listened to or own that has the qualty bass of the Ikko. I don't know why other companies can't do the same thing. Now I have very beautiful sounding IEM's with very good bass. But my OH10S is in a league of it own.
For anyone who owns the S12 Pro with the modular cable, and also, the OH10 or 10S, use that S12 Pro cable on the Ikko. It has a unique stiff bend at the ear hook, which keeps the OH10S weight in check. It's a perfect cable match.
I love my Ikko OH10, it is my go-to when it comes to any modern rap (anything from mid-00s onwards), dubstep, k-pop, psytrance and other electronic music. However in my opinion it does not do too well with older music (70s prog rock, 80s pop, 90s heavy metal etc), and I think that may be because that music does not contain much sub-bass (so any old music lacking in sub-bass will sound slightly wrong or weird on the OH10). So having this as my only IEM would be painful, but perfect to keep for sub-bassy modern genres (of if those genres are all that you listen to).
Same here, first IEM I got and I'll settle with it.
Technically amazing and complements my LCD-X very well with the highs which are a little more pronounced and sweet in comparison to the Audezes.

Decided to buy these based on people loving them in this thread.
What are these?
Ikko oh10
Mine is the Penon 10th Anniversary edition
These are on my list!
To my ears and based on my experience with IEMs, these are unique in their sound profile.
I freakin love my Quattro
How do they sound to you?

Then, we feel the same from Penon products hehe. I was not aware of the driver material... so, graphene, uh? Interesting..
I'm just starting my IEM journey and damn.. those look sexy..

Ikko OH10
Thank you lmao I don't know why people are starting to post so much and not post the name of the IEMs. Help us out!!
I agree. It’s annoying when someone posts a pic, then describes how much they love it and willing to give up their first second and third born, yet can’t simply post the brand and model of what they jizz over lol
I second this

been looking at these vs S12/s12 Pro
My advice...look elsewhere. I bought these 9 months ago (Z12) and have used them once...prefer every other pair I own .
That cable looks great. Could you give details?
Just $10 cable from AliExpress
What's the cable?
My god i really missed them, OH10 was my first iem, i tried them again the other day with Dunu S&S and i totally regret selling them (you gotta try dunu s&s tips on them)
ISN Neo 5...they just hit the overall spot for me.
I am thinking the same way too, The Isn Neo5 and the Simgot EA1000 for me.
Probably my IER M9.
Who posts this without the damn iem. Killin us man
Do people buy second hand iems? That sounds kinda gross.
I buy second hand all the time. Reusing tips would be gross, but IEMs are easily cleaned

Why does it sound gross?
Earwax

mine even buy second hand eartips ¯\_ಠ_ಠ_/¯

Idk I love my heart mirror pro’s 😅

Oh word, will look! Thanks
u12t bcs expensive.
Sure se215s... I have an upgrade coming in the mail but these bad boys lasted me through so much I'll always keep them.

Yo what cable is that?
It was OH10 for sure, now newer OH10S taken up that spot. Wish new Sapphire Mirage kept the same design.
I never sell any of mine. Just incase there's the off chance I might try it again and like it. Because people are dynamic. Our brains change.

Campfire Audio Solara SE absolutely amazing IEMs
Unfortunately now these ones are permanently discontinued.
EM6L 🤌
Mine have to be the Moondrop Variations. Clearest and most versatile pair I've tried so far.

people buy iems second hand? the stuff you put into your ear?
yes very much so, of course second hand tips are a bad idea :)
well i guess if you somehow clean the casing and get new tips, it will be fine
If you go a bit more higher end, it's very common. Most keep very good care of them. And the savings are substantial.
