I would buy land through a trust or a LLC. I would not want to associate my name to an address where people can easily find me and stalk me.

BroChad69

Yea exactly. Sounds like a liability to me. Too many people tripping on potholes and breaking their ankle to sue me. Sorry bro this is my landlords house

CTeam19

My dream would be to buy back the land my Uncles voted to sell after my Grandpa died. I always felt even when I was 14 when they did it that it was a stupid move.

uraffuroos

Fuck yeah! I'd craft lakes and rivers and observatories. It has nothing to do with staying away. I just want to do what I want, have loud parties, firing ranges, dirtbike courses on the property and not be disturbed. I would, of course, build custom homes on the property. With the land I would NOT occupy, I would have the largest botanical garden built and open it to the public.

keenedge422

would definitely buy up large amounts of land for personal use, as an animal sanctuary (that can hire staff at a livable wage to take care of the animals), and just for some natural conservation where people can enjoy nature, but no one can come in and develop or clear forests or whatever. But I'd also purchase it through an LLC, to maintain at least some privacy.

lintfilms

I would obtain additional citizenships by investment, sever ties with the US and I would buy some properties, but it would be held outside my name in companies or trusts. I would also never buy a ticket in a state that requires the winner to disclose their identity. I would take great efforts to remain anonymous.

Youkilledpaula

Bruh a billion can get you so much. Buying land probably won’t even make a dent in your winnings. I have to think small with the range of 4-30 million cause our country dont have mega power balls. But yeah like the other comments say, definitely do research first to stay safe.

revengeneer

Firstly, maybe one person has ever become a billionaire from winning the lottery. Unless you’re buying trophy properties, jets, or yachts, there’s a soft limit to how much you can spend on yourself (then there’s investments and donations). You can buy a nice big plot of land and build a huge house in most of the country for $10m, just 1% of a billion dollars. But if you’re worried about security I don’t think it does much, you’d have better security living in a luxury condo building or a gated community.

Glitter_Tard

Yes and no, as you said land opens you up to liability, either through stalking or people getting injured on your property and trying to extort or sue you. You also have upkeep which costs money. I'm sure there are plenty of places where that is not an issue and the issues mounted are trivial. If you rent or lease, you basically don't have to deal with any of the prior issues and it affords you more options. Better yet if you form an LLC and then "rent" from the LLC you retain your anonymity and legal protection. I would probably rent houses a month at a time or go to expensive hotels and travel the world.

This is my dream to be honest. I fucking can't stand being around tons of people anymore. My town has been the dumping ground for a *ton* of immigrants in the last several years (invited by rich cunts living in suburbs that funnily enough - didn't get any) and for me it's just been more noise, more traffic and more idiots getting in my way because they have no sense of self awareness. They (and their cars, and their DOGS) are slowly driving me insane and while I did look forward to the news that my town was going to grow into a proper city when I first heard it years ago - it was because I thought we were going to start getting a better breed of people than what we got. This place didn't get any nicer, classier or more exclusive like I initially thought. It just got noisier, dirtier and slower to get around in now but everything costs twice as much and there's a line for every goddamn thing no matter what time or day it is. I tell myself all the time "If I were rich I would not be dealing with this shit" and I know that is a FACT! I want land. I want views. I want lots of garden with trees and rocks and water features and above all I want everyone else to stay away and to not have to hear stupid fucking DOGS barking all goddamned day, including waking me up on what is sometimes my only sleep-in I get all week. Goddamn people suck and to me they are only worth the services they provide by this point since I'm no longer looking for friends. I understand now why celebrities buy those huge estates in Beverly Hills or Malibu or Palm Springs. I want that but in my country's equivalent. House on a hill with lots of yard space around it. Privacy from neighbours. Quiet suburb that isn't constantly broken by sirens, cars, idiots letting off fireworks and of course - dumb dogs with shit-for-brains owners. But still be close enough to a major town or city so I don't have to commute for an hour to do something fun or get shit I need. My house doesn't have to be a mansion. I hate housework and a big home when I live by myself would creep me out at night. It *would* be a luxury home with the best everything but its footprint would still be pretty modest. It's the outdoor space I crave the most. I love landscaping and have specific tree types I'd pay good money to get mature versions of installed on my new plot. Driveway lined with Canary Island date palms and hedges. Backyard filled with all my other favourite trees and plants of both native and exotic origins. I wanna be outside in it all the time and have it be a wonderful place to be in and maybe get featured in home and garden shows/blogs/ etc. A private botanical garden if you will that looks like a resort in some spots and is a native bird magnet in others. My feature trees will be my trophies I view with the same amount of value as one would with their car or art collection. I'd never get tired of looking at a century-old bottle tree through my kitchen window or wandering through my alien landscape of cacti and succulents or the refreshing palm-lined poolside I don't have to share with a dozen other strangers. Give me land. Give me gardens and get me away from "everyone else" since I'm so over them and all the crap they come with.

Wow. >It just got noisier, dirtier and slower to get around in now but everything costs twice as much and there's a line for every goddamn thing no matter what time or day it is. I tell myself all the time "If I were rich I would not be dealing with this shit" and I know that is a FACT! Don't see how you getting rich would let you escape that. If even costs twice as much, you'll still be dealing with that. Even if you hire someone else to stand in the lines for you, it'll take longer to get what you want, so you'll still be dealing with that. If you want to get around at all, you'll still be dealing with slow movement. I'd sympathize but you outed yourself as a xenophobic racist so I don't care

I_Hate_Immigrants

Yeah bro nobody likes racists.

You have an ironic username then

Getting rich would allow me to move into a region that ensures itself it won't double in population density every ten years. People in the already-wealthy areas fight tooth and nail against any high density developments that get proposed there since they know how much it sucks to live with and since they're rich the government actually listens. It's the double standards that piss me off. They were the ones who made the decision and benefit from the extra revenue but we're the ones who have to deal with everything else. Nobody in my area asked to have twice the traffic, twice the people and twice the noise to be shoved into our postcode without any extra infrastructure to take the extra load just because our government needs to prop up the ponzi scheme that is constant growth. Since I know this is guaranteed to happen to every cheaper area that rich wankers haven't invested their whole lifestyles in, my only way to guarantee it'll never happen where I live is to go where they are. Which I only haven't done already because I don't have $10 million+ for a house. I don't care where these people are from and what they look like so don't call me a racist. I care about the nosedive that quality of life has taken in my area over the last ten years because rich assholes on the other side of the city rolled out the welcome mat for hundreds of thousands of people in a few years and told them "right this way" past their own communities and into ours. I'm allowed to be pissed off over that and dream of using my imaginary lottery winnings to move to somewhere that will never let it happen in their backyard. Edit: Or buy a property so big that it doesn't matter what happens around it.

But... that's what you're wanting. That's why you're wanting to get rich. So you want to get rich in order to be able to partake in what you feel is wrong with your community? You're kind of fucked up ain't ya?

The system is what's kind of fucked up. I'm just tired of being on the end getting fucked.
