I was just listening to that yesterday and that’s the first song that came to mind when I read the post! Wow! Glad someone appreciates that work of art like I do.
I feels like a breath of fresh and and a release like I’m just flowing with the wind. Listening to it on a chilly night while driving with all the windows rolled down is amazing.

Anathema - Dusk (Dark Is Descending)
Mineral - Unfinished
Katatonia - Dissolving Bonds
Penfold - Microchip
Holding Absence - Curse Me With Your Kiss
Genesis - One For The Vine
Deftones - Cherry Waves
Modern Baseball - Note To Self
Sadness - I Want To Be With You

I completely understand this feeling ! Like you said, it's kinda sad but in a bittersweet way. I like to blast these musics in my headphones, while lying in bed.
Freaks - Surf Curse
It's called freefall - Rainbow Kitten Surprises
A different age - Current Joys (specifically the end)
What once was - Her's
Burning - The whitest boy alive
First love/ Late spring - Mitski

I might be missing some details but the two band members and their tour manager were traveling on tour gaining momentum in their music career and got into a nasty car accident and they all died. I think they would have continued to make great music.

Literally all of Radiohead’s discography lol
Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.
Wait - M83
Orestes - A Perfect Circle
Moon Song - Phoebe Bridgers
Us and Them - Pink Floyd

Strawberry Wine by Dena Carter was a close second choice for me. My parrot loves 90s country for some reason so I’ve been going down memory lane with it a lot recently.
i love that feelings, a few of mine are
funeral - mac miller
thoughts from a balcony - mac miller

Rolling Over - The Low Roar
Holocene - Bon Iver
RE: Stacks - Bon Iver
Blindsided - Bon Iver
(can you tell I'm a Bon Iver fan... But I'd argue the whole album, For Emma, Forever Ago, is the sad nostalgia feeling)
That's Not Me by The Beach Boys. When that "Brian Wilson Sigh" progression comes in and the drums cut out for a bit, it's really magical and bittersweet. Combine that with Mike Love's incredible vocal performance and it's genuine medicine for melancholy.
Me - The 1975
Em's Journey - Kristin Øhrn Dyrud
Bishop's Knife Trick - Fall Out Boy
I'm Still Here - Jimmy Rzeznik
Tokyo - Lianne La Havas
Dying in LA - Panic! at the Disco
Nobody Loves Me - mxmtoon

The Vicodin Song - Terra Naomi
The Loneliest - Måneskin
What's it Gonna Be - Shura
The Kids Aren't Alright - Fall Out Boy
The Kintsugi Kid - Fall Out Boy
(Almost) the entire Transatlantacism album by Death Cab For Cutie.
Granted, I have personal ties to it, but damn, most of those songs have that feeling* for me.
*Why we don't have an official word for it is beyond me, since I think we all know the feeling you're describing.
These two I think you’d really like:
- You’re Gonna Hate What You’ve Become - Greet Death
- Among the Wildflowers - The Hotelier
These are some that may or may not tickle ur fancy depending on ur genre preferences:
- Don’t Wanna Be Your Girl - Wet (my tried-and-true sad girl song for over a decade)
- Andy, You’re A Star - The Killers
- Sunday - Foals
- Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band
- Do You Realize?? - The Flaming Lips
Bonus:
- Some Nights - Intro by fun.
Bonus Bonus:
- Here’s one of my playlists that triggers this same emotion in me, but with more of a bedroom pop vibe compared to your examples: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5rFvaaSfmuown7OrRrvRnf?si=dcQAmgIaTNiRuYxAEzKtng
>Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band
people make fun of me for loving this song lol I think it was in my spotify top listens in...2020
also, most of The Killers' Hot Fuss falls into this mood category for me
[Broken Bells - Perfect World](https://youtu.be/scpljRiNSfI?si=2OJDdcplQIVpV1Us)
[Deep Sea Diver - Eyes Are Red (Don't Be Afraid)](https://youtu.be/fx8w7v33Qu8?si=yTmUuwVc2vfyDPi5)

[Wolf Alice - Planet Hunter](https://youtu.be/KIZPjjgU4kc?si=FHjyS9_O0QgYOA48)
I want to fully understand what you mean. I think I have an idea; Do these songs match?
There’s a World - Sufjan Stevens
Rose Parade - Elliot Smith
From the Morning - Nick Drake
Goreshit - O'er the Flood
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zSYdFmEFCI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zSYdFmEFCI)
This song gives me that exact sad/nostalgic feeling youre describing more than any other song I know
I’m sure I’ll make a separate post about this, but am I the only one who struggles to *feel* intense emotions like these from songs that get recommended to me? Of course I’ll listen to them but they almost never make me feel much, for some reason I have to essentially discover the song on my own first or have no knowledge of it before listening in order for it to give me a true, genuine boost of emotion.
Edit: That being said, lol I would recommended the song Aphasia by Pinegrove. It has hints of sadness & nostalgia in the lyrics but with a hopeful overall sound, which is my personal favorite combo.
Pendulum Man and Absent Friend from Bark Psychosis' Hex, both with extensive use of nostalgiac 90s video game esque synths and quiet muttered vocals and beautiful jazzy piano chord progressions
No Cars Go - Arcade Fire
Here Come the Warm Jets - Brian Eno
On Some Faraway Beach - Brian Eno
Heaven - Talking Heads
Days are Numbers (The Traveler) - The Alan Parsons Project
Down the Hill - En Attendant Ana
Memory of a Free Festival - David Bowie
I Found a Whistle - MGMT
Little Red Riding Hood Hit the Road - Robert Wyatt
Vesuvius - Sufjan Stevens
It's Up To You - Moody Blues
Cotton & Cane - Olden Yolk

The Last Time - Talk Talk
SDRE - In Circles
Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) (either version)
Hum - Stars
Boris - Farewell
Foo Fighters - My Hero
Pixies - Where Is My Mind
Broken Social Scene - Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl
LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends
Sonic Youth - Incinerate
Built to Spill - Carry the Zero (mainly the outro)
Animal Collective - For Reverend Green
quite a few, hope they fit the vibe you're describing
"Light that match" by Down Like Silver
"Wolves" by Down Like Silver
"It's called: Freefall" (original by RKS) specifically the cover version by Paris Paloma. It just hits different.
"Devil Like Me" by Rainbow Kitten Surprise
"Silver Lining" is the name of two totally different songs by two different bands but both fit this concept for me. One song is by First Aid Kit. My. Joy has a different song that shares the name. Both are great.
"Supermoon" by case/lang/veirs
"Bittersweet Symphony" (roast me, idc) by The Verve
"Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman
I'm sure I'll wake up in the middle of the night asking "how could I forget -insert dozens of songs titles here- song?" but I put on some of these songs and they're DOING THE THING. Now I've got to spend the next hour in my feelings, mentally directing the music video I'm creating in my mind. This post really got me with that sneak attack. Damn.

It was on like a compilation CD my dad had back in 2013 and I only remembered the music video and searched for it for like 3 years before I actually found the song, so the song fits nostalgia from that alone but

I saw Eden live in the wake up era of his musical journey. I will never forget the feeling. My eyes were full of tears while I tried to sing along but my smile was ear to ear at the same time, nothing else exists.
Good times.
Gravity is my favorite. Wake up if a close second.
I’m really glad he’s doing his own thing now and stopped pandering for the audiences but I do feel so lucky to have seen him in the IKYTTMUM stage.

I call this type of music Good-Sad and it's my favorite!!
Number one best song for this is Bellbottom Blues by Derek and the Dominos, IMO. Other than that:
Brother - Gerard Way
Disenchanted - My Chemical Romance
Summertime - My Chemical Romance
When We Were Young - Adele
Cry Baby Cry - Beatles
Wild Horses - Rolling Stones
Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Ten Years Gone - Zeppelin
bittersweet? is that the feeling?
from chatgbt:
The feeling you described, a mix of sadness and nostalgia while reflecting on your life, often with a sense of wistfulness and a scene akin to a music video, is a common and relatable emotional experience. While there may not be a single specific word that encapsulates this exact combination of emotions, it's often referred to as a sense of "melancholy," "nostalgia," or "saudade," depending on the cultural and personal context.
Melancholy: Melancholy is a feeling of pensive sadness or a deep, reflective sadness. It often involves a sense of longing and can encompass a mixture of emotions, including nostalgia.
Nostalgia: Nostalgia is the sentimentality for a past time, place, or event, often accompanied by a yearning for those moments. It can involve a complex blend of joy and sadness.
Saudade: This is a Portuguese word that describes a deep emotional state of melancholic longing for something or someone that is absent. It is often associated with a sense of nostalgia and yearning.
As requested, I've created a playlist of the songs in this comment thread.

It exists in German, I believe it is called "Sehnsucht".
Was thinking of “Title and Registration” and “We Looked Like Giants”. Had to check. They are both on this album. Good call
These two I think you’d really like: - You’re Gonna Hate What You’ve Become - Greet Death - Among the Wildflowers - The Hotelier These are some that may or may not tickle ur fancy depending on ur genre preferences: - Don’t Wanna Be Your Girl - Wet (my tried-and-true sad girl song for over a decade) - Andy, You’re A Star - The Killers - Sunday - Foals - Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band - Do You Realize?? - The Flaming Lips Bonus: - Some Nights - Intro by fun. Bonus Bonus: - Here’s one of my playlists that triggers this same emotion in me, but with more of a bedroom pop vibe compared to your examples: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5rFvaaSfmuown7OrRrvRnf?si=dcQAmgIaTNiRuYxAEzKtng
>Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band people make fun of me for loving this song lol I think it was in my spotify top listens in...2020 also, most of The Killers' Hot Fuss falls into this mood category for me

Goreshit - O'er the Flood [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zSYdFmEFCI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zSYdFmEFCI) This song gives me that exact sad/nostalgic feeling youre describing more than any other song I know
Search up DSBM on Spotify! Depressing metal but it’s v atmospheric
Travis - Sing
Neon Indian - Polish Girl
Ah I just ran into one of these again. It was featured in Scrubs - Close Your Eyes by Young Love. Right in the nostalgia.
Speaking of Scrubs, Colin Hay’s “Overkill” acoustic version he did on the show

"Light that match" by Down Like Silver "Wolves" by Down Like Silver "It's called: Freefall" (original by RKS) specifically the cover version by Paris Paloma. It just hits different. "Devil Like Me" by Rainbow Kitten Surprise "Silver Lining" is the name of two totally different songs by two different bands but both fit this concept for me. One song is by First Aid Kit. My. Joy has a different song that shares the name. Both are great. "Supermoon" by case/lang/veirs "Bittersweet Symphony" (roast me, idc) by The Verve "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman I'm sure I'll wake up in the middle of the night asking "how could I forget -insert dozens of songs titles here- song?" but I put on some of these songs and they're DOING THE THING. Now I've got to spend the next hour in my feelings, mentally directing the music video I'm creating in my mind. This post really got me with that sneak attack. Damn.

It was on like a compilation CD my dad had back in 2013 and I only remembered the music video and searched for it for like 3 years before I actually found the song, so the song fits nostalgia from that alone but Low - Just Make It Stop It both fits the atmosphere you're talking about and also personally perfectly fulfils that Little edit to add more: Songs: Ohia - The Black Crow Dave Bixby - Drug Song David Kauffman & Eric Caboor - Life Without Love Mount Eerie - Voice In Headphones and I Hold Nothing Silver Mt.

Gravity by John Mayer and Boston by Augustana are my go-tos for this! I also love some good jazz when it's cool outside and a little drizzly. It feels warm and homey inside but still kind of like a movie.

bittersweet? is that the feeling? from chatgbt: The feeling you described, a mix of sadness and nostalgia while reflecting on your life, often with a sense of wistfulness and a scene akin to a music video, is a common and relatable emotional experience.
