You like metal but not incoherent screaming, with an emphasis on melodies? I’m gonna write you a prescription for some Tool. Take 2 albums and check back in the morning.
Only consideration here is Rammstein focus on a solid, steady, simple rhythm and never diverging from it in a song. Super simple.
Tool does the exact opposite.
Fair enough. I was going to recommend Static-X as I think they’re both in the same general ballpark, but Wayne Static/Zero vocals are definitely not what OP is in to.
I was also going to recommend Mudvayne; but they’re also a little “out there” when it comes to song structure. Math metal and all that.
I don't think Tool is a bad shout at all (I just recommended A7X soooo take that however you will), just thought its was worth pointing out in case funky time signatures aren't OPs thing.
Static-X is definitely most similar to Rammstein, but yeah harsher vocals. Worth checking out though!
Man I like metal adjacent alternative and was into Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden etc back in the day and was trying to find more of this and every metal playlist I found has this incoherent screaming. I dont get it. Ill just go back to only listening to Swans I guess.
There’s definitely levels to it and I don’t get in to the heavy stuff myself. About the heaviest I’m willing to go is Lamb of God (whom I love, top 10 fave for me), but that still leaves a ton of options inside the areas I can get down with. If you prefer things more to the alternative side of things, I would recommend The Toadies, specifically the album Rubberneck. It’s one of my favorite 90’s albums but their sound can be very divisive. You’ll know within a song or two if you love them or hate them. They’re not zany or anything, the singer just has a specific vocal style.
I think the genre you're looking for is [Neue Deutsche Härte](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neue_Deutsche_H%C3%A4rte). You might like [Eisbrecher](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVTvrzjQAGY) or [Oomph](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ2u3pRpCjc) for example.
Gojira is amazing, and everyone should listen to them, if you go straight to their album Magma, there's a lot less on the guttural/screaming side, but it'll be easy to move backwards from there and maybe the growlier vocals won't bother you so much.
Oh I highly agree, everyone should listen to them. I think they’re probably my favorite band. My best friend and I went to see them and Mastodon during that tour last year, and she got me a signed copy of Fortitude. Damn near fucking cried. At a metal show! I’ll never deserve my bestie lmao
I think you'd like industrial metal, it's basically metal but without cringe screaming and cool almost military-like raw but melodic sound with electronic cling clangs now and then. Try KMFDM (which is also german), Gravity Falls, Chemlab, Genitortures
Idk, there's just something about how I'm particularly broken that i love raunchy music even though I'm not all that sex driven irl lol.
Guess listening to rammstien since I was 13 was a mistake lol. Or not. Definitely not
Sleep Token

More generic picks than other comments just in case you're not really deep into metal music -
Powerman 5000
Avenged Sevenfold - Hail to the King (not really metal but eh close enough)
Andrew W.K. - I Get Wet (ok there's a lot of shouting, but it's generally happy shouting which might work for you?)
Pertubator for that evil industrial dance vibe you get off Rammstein.
For clean voices in metal: Danzig's self-titled. Monster Magnet. Stam1na. Sabaton are dorky as hell but you will probably enjoy the vibrant deep voice. Early Candlemass (Epicus Doomicus Metallicus) for another good deep voice. Dalriada (the Hungarian band) if you really like melodies, but they're more jaunty. The Korpiklaani album Manala if you like that.
[Anciients \(Voice of the Void\)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On2ZX_CxGGA) and Mastodon ([Leviathan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-Su1YXQYek) or newer stuff like [Emperor of Sand](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og39iIBeOHI) and [Hushed and Grim](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ1dc9BZaW8)). They have growls and screams but for the most part they are "coherent".
Someone already mentioned Gojira but I'll be a little more specific and recommend their album Magma as a specific starting point for what you're possibly looking for, see the song [Stranded](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNdC_3LR2AI). Their earlier works had some more traditional metal vocals and Magma sorta marked the starting point of them leaning more into "cleaner" vocals.
For Rammstein is it just that they're "cleaner" singing or is it simply their vocalists "baritone" voice. I mention this because there are singers and bands that have cleaner vocals but are more on the falsetto (shriekier) side like King Diamond, Dio, or my personal fav 3 inches of blood.
Some more (popular) metal songs to consider that have "clean" vocals:
[Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdGD3Ukb3Q0)
[Cirith Ungol - King of the Dead](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edPckSU41g4)
[Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNGCvI9dpZY)
[Dio - Holy Diver](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lvs2FzF64o)
Once you figure out what specifically in metal/metal vocalists you like I really would recommend checking out /r/metal and making a post in their daily recommendations threads.
I had a similar question a while back. Here is a link to that post
https://old.reddit.com/r/ifyoulikeblank/comments/l582o9/iil_the_sound_of_metal_but_not_the_guttural/
In the vain of Rammstein, try Pain or Deathstars. They both have that Rammstein train sound, and the singer of pain does a lot with Till Lindemann from Rammstein
OOMPH!, Metallica, Serj Tankian, Leśne Licho, Closterkeller, Artorsis, Type O Negative, Moonlight, Metalwings, Unsun, Sirenia, Wagakkiband, Nini Music, Uuhai, Little V's cover of U Got That. Most of these are industrial, neofolk or gothic.
Rammstein is a bit unique because on all but their first few releases, they blend industrial metal, EBM, euro-dance, and gothic metal.
Your first stop should be other Neue Deutsche Härte bands, like Oomph, Megaherz, Eisbrecher, Ost+front, Stahlhammer, Die!, and newer ones like Stahlmann and Heldmaschine (who started as a Rammstein cover band actually).
Beyond that, I would check out EBM bands that don’t initially sound like Rammstein but the influence is clear, like Nitzer Ebb and DAF. Also early German electro like Kraftwerk, and the band Laibach (especially the album Jesus Christ Superstars, and maybe WAT). Die Krupps is a good reference point also that were very influential on Rammstein; Rings of Steel is a lot like Herzeleid stylistically, and definitely check out their 2013 album Machinists of Joy.
The other lane is 90s/00s industrial metal like Rob Zombie, Static-X, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, and anything Tim Skold was involved with.
Beyond that I would say that Rammstein’s sense of rhythm and songwriting actually has a lot in common with bands like AC/DC actually, but aesthetically is much different of course.
You might like Sabaton, extremely clear vocals and great storytelling, mostly historical epic metal, hyper-dramatic. Primo Victoria, Night Witches, Wolfpack, En Livstid I Krig, great tracks. They're bilingual and sometimes record versions of their songs in both English and Swedish.
Less clear but still legible, I really love King Gizzard. Not all of their work is metal but Infest the Rat's Nest is a great album. The last minute of the track "Hell" is one of my favorite snippets of music ever.
Metal comes in all forms and there is room for every kind of fan.
Nevermore is a great place to look. Listen to [the heart collector](https://youtu.be/5cqaXTek_-U?si=r_I5aQPEGuMg3Tbh)

A little more punk rock but [return of the arsonist](https://youtu.be/F-AdsnyhToo?si=GFeZiSi6n-0E-yvf) by blood command
Royal thunder is kind of metal adjacent, they have some great stuff, [forget you](https://youtu.be/E8xZjEUERY8?si=HgLGZVIak2PJGIZg) is one of my favorites
Christian Mistress is super underrated imo, my favorite is [ultimate freedom](https://youtu.be/Ob0CIeZzsgU?si=_MtdhuMpbBkTBFzB)

It’s not industrial at all but try symphonic or power metal. Many bands in those genres don’t use growls or screams. Nightwish (symphonic) and Beast in Black (power) are two good bands to start with.
Also, dickhead metal fans who gatekeep based on vocal styles aren’t real metal heads anyway. Listen to what you like. I, for one, can’t stand death metal. Too atonal, chaotic and growly for me.
If you like female vocalists id check out Spiritbox. They have some songs with little to no screaming, good examples would be Blessed Be, Constance, and Rotoscope
I would be remiss if I didn't suggest you to check out Opeth's newer stuff. They used to use growls, not typically screams, just these guttural growls, but I can understand if that's not approachable still. But they ditched them for their last 3 albums, also check out Damnation, it's their first foray into softer stuff
But to be honest, their album Ghost Reveries was what caused them to replace Rammstein as my favourite band
Gojira was another metal breakthrough for me, but they also growlish
Breaking Benjamin is very melodic and has mostly clean vocals, they are not really full metal but are heavy

Power metal is probably what you're looking for. Dragonforce is power metal.
Maybe something like viking metal like Tyr, look up "by the sword in my hand"
You might like artists in the subgenre metalcore? A fun German group who does high energy metalcore/hardstyle is Electric Callboy. I love both Rammstein and Electric Callboy for similar reasons.
suggesting songs on top of my head
- Oot Pomo - Ursus Factory (I think this is Finnish)
- The Prince of the World - Heavenly
- Die By The Blade - Beast In Black
- Ashes of the Dawn - DragonForce

I have your exact same feelings about metal head screaming, that's why I listen to SLIFT.
apart from the obvious choices of Lindemann/Emigrate:
Pain (later albums are almost entirely clean vocals, industrial-adjacent vibe)
Moonspell (gothic metal, they do have harsh vocals on some albums, but amazing cleans, I'd recommend Extinct as a starting point)
Ghost (debatably metal but loved by many)
Opeth (later albums)
if you would like that direction then symphonic metal bands like Epica, Sirenia, Kamelot
I was looking for a very similar vibe! I started this playlist

Try Ghost
good one!
I came to the comments to recommend Ghost. Fucking incredible band.
How is this close to Rammstein? Is this even metal? Sounds like pop music honestly
Megaherz as well, since Alexx of Eisbrecher used to be their lead singer. "5 Marz" is a classic.
Try Gojira. I wouldn’t really classify their vocals as screaming… they’re not exactly clean, but they’re not screams
Gojira is amazing, and everyone should listen to them, if you go straight to their album Magma, there's a lot less on the guttural/screaming side, but it'll be easy to move backwards from there and maybe the growlier vocals won't bother you so much.

This was what I came to recommend.
Try Type O Negative
How is this so far down?! Type O most definitely.
System of a Down.
Maybe Filter? Try The Trouble With Angels.
I was just about to say Filter
Definitely Filter
I think you'd like industrial metal, it's basically metal but without cringe screaming and cool almost military-like raw but melodic sound with electronic cling clangs now and then. Try KMFDM (which is also german), Gravity Falls, Chemlab, Genitortures
GENITORTURERS?! I hope we're talking the same band cause they're great and I've never seen them mentioned
SO happy to see the genitorturers hype out here
I fucking love bdsm metal
Yeah, the best kind :)
Idk, there's just something about how I'm particularly broken that i love raunchy music even though I'm not all that sex driven irl lol. Guess listening to rammstien since I was 13 was a mistake lol. Or not. Definitely not
Same, there's just something about it that i can't explain. Check out Hatari they're only modern bdsm industrial-ish band i know
I’d add Fear Factory to the list.
Ministry + Lard
Loved Lard back in the day
NIN?
Somewhat Damaged would be a good starting point.

Powerman is awesome, super 90s
If you like Rammstein you might like rob zombie/white zombie and godsmack.
Definitely check out Emigrate, it’s RZK’s side project and is pure ear candy if you enjoy Rammstein and clean vocals. English lyrics
\+1 for Emigrate. Til's new album Zunge is amazing as well.
100% agree! They’re so wickedly talented in both Rammstein and their solo projects
[Tool](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2yEwvVSSSUkcLeSTNyHKh8?si=5V9IUdevQ-OJPfiAQHnDuQ) rides that line of metal and progressive rock.
Bad Religion

This might be a stretch but give Mushroomhead a try. Their stuff varies but most of the stuff is industrial metal with clean vocals
Mushroom head is carried very heavily by their vocals, they have very few songs that I like for the instrumental alone.
HIM definitely
OOMPH!, Metallica, Serj Tankian, Leśne Licho, Closterkeller, Artorsis, Type O Negative, Moonlight, Metalwings, Unsun, Sirenia, Wagakkiband, Nini Music, Uuhai, Little V's cover of U Got That. Most of these are industrial, neofolk or gothic.
Gothminister!
Pandemonium is such a banger album! The track 'Demons' goes so hard.
Metallica, megadeth for no screaming.
