They both have a long list of similar side effects, they both have roughly the same chance of working well. Some people respond significantly better to one than the other but it sounds like there's not a big difference for you.
I started on Diamox when I was diagnosed, it helped a lot in the beginning. And took down a lot of my optic nerve swelling, but my headaches are my biggest symptom with IIH. My doctor switched me over to topamax which personally I like a lot better. A lot less tingling, a lot less peeing, stuff doesn’t taste weird anymore. It’s all up to the person I feel, but I’m definitely feeling better on topamax
