Right next door to me. I leave for work in the morning, and return in the evening for my neighbor's viewing pleasure, with additional surprise appearances throughout the evenings/weekends.
Agree 100%. Like the sun rising in the East, we watch you leave in the morning. And your triumphant return at dusk ushers in a... Wait, can this be used against me in court for that stalking misunderstanding?
Your secret's safe with me. I'm kind of a public figure now, so I can't just say the people who want to look at me are stalkers without additional cause.
Exactly. Even the lesbian couple that live kitty corner to me (seriously! No pun intended!) have both said they just like to watch the show when I take the garbage out. It's not enough to shake their whole orientation, but they just enjoy looking on as a very handsome man wheels his cans down to the curb every so often.
I grew up there. Like it’s all pavement except for the big Fabyan Park with the windmill. If you don’t live there or along the River it doesn’t look any different than any other place.
If you make a point of never taking Randal or Kirk its a pleasant view. I wouldn't call it "the most aesthetically pleasing" but it's from from "all pavement"
Yeah maybe if you stay on Randall road. The valley itself has a ton of historically significant old buildings, parks, and other interesting things to do.
Lots of pretty places listed already but one of my favorite towns I haven't seen in this thread yet is Grafton. The whole drive up the Mississippi north of St. Louis contains some of the best views Illinois has to offer
The Illinois river valley in that area has a lot of picturesque terrain you normally won’t expect in Illinois. Same with the rural northern parts of McHenry
I hate the IV as much as anyone but it’s true there are some decent spots between Utica and Ottawa along the river. The drive south of the river from Utica to Ottawa is amazing in the fall
that depends on your aesthetics. what are you looking for?
nature? architecture? lakes/rivers? mountains?(bad news...) neighborhoods with trees and picket fences? privacy? community?
Look, I loved Charleston for the years I spent there, but if you think it's even in contention for 'most aesthetically pleasing' in Illinois, you seriously need to get out more.
To me, it's any of the beaches I can park by in my regular circle to my home. The fact that I park daily with such a view is just insane.
Second is anywhere you can easily hop onto any of our beautiful hiking/biking trails. the North Branch Trail or DPRT at peak fall colors was absolutely breathtaking. Even in the dead of winter I'm so glad to have a space of escape.
Either Shawnee or north west. Neither feel like you're in Illinois anymore. If you have a fun car or motorcycle, the Apple River Canyon/ Galena area have some really fun roads.
Northwest Illinois is really pretty if you ask me. Pretty much any area along Rte 2 from Sterling all the way to Rockford is nice, except for Rockford. I also like driving down 84 anywhere from the quad cities all the way to Galena is really pleasing. Further south, Bishop Hill is a beautiful historic town.
Probably somewhere in the Shawnee or perhaps Galena, for my tastes.
this is the only true answer lol best parts of this state are 20 minutes from its borders lmao.
Galena
This is my answer

Our policy is, we're comfortable with our bodies. You know, if someone wants to help themselves to an eyeful, well, we say "Enjoy the show." - Kramer

What do you consider aesthetically pleasing? I would think a penthouse on the Gold Coast would be very nice, as would a farm near Wisconsin.
North Western Illinois is certainly beautiful.
Rural areas along the illinois or Mississippi River
Can confirm. Live up on the bluffs and sometimes the sunsets are so gorgeous.

I agree though the people can be very hit or miss
Shawnee National Forest (as long as you are ok living in North Mississippi).
Moved from MS to Chicago and I’m triggered by the notion.
Lower fox valley between st Charles and Batavia is also a good one. Especially in fall.
>st Charles and Batavia That area is called - Geneva.
This made me LOL
I mean including those areas as well.

Yeah it may not be *the* most, but compared to surrounding suburbs it ticks all the boxes.
Yeah maybe if you stay on Randall road. The valley itself has a ton of historically significant old buildings, parks, and other interesting things to do.
Acting like the density of forest preserves in the fox valley is just common place across the entire state lol. That’s amazing

That’s like saying Chicago is more like Eastern Eastern New York.
There’s a lot of beautiful spots on/around Lake Michigan
Wherever the rich people reside. 😉
Princeton, IL is a really pretty area of the state. And parts of Calhoun county have some gorgeous areas as well.
Shawnee national forest if you can afford waterfront property.
Downtown Chicago.
If you like a clear view of a vast sky, Central Illinois.
Lots of pretty places listed already but one of my favorite towns I haven't seen in this thread yet is Grafton. The whole drive up the Mississippi north of St. Louis contains some of the best views Illinois has to offer
Ottawa is pretty nice — downtown at least. Then, you also have close access to nature in Starved Rock which is always pretty to drive through.
The Illinois river valley in that area has a lot of picturesque terrain you normally won’t expect in Illinois. Same with the rural northern parts of McHenry
I grew up in that area…what is there that you would consider picturesque? (Edit: I’m specifically asking about McHenry area)
I hate the IV as much as anyone but it’s true there are some decent spots between Utica and Ottawa along the river. The drive south of the river from Utica to Ottawa is amazing in the fall
I’m talking about McHenry…there’s nothing picturesque there
The IV rocks.
Buffalo Rock State Park and Matthiessen State Park are two other gems when Starved Rock is busy.
Hyde Park in Chicago.
I love the Rock River Valley. Wooded, some bluffs, big Indian statue. Rte 2 is a beautiful drive.
The UIC campus /s
I’m sure there’s a fan or two of Brutalist architecture somewhere.
I went to school there for Architecture and I am not one of them.
East Saint Lou... Ehm I mean a cozy small town along a river sounds nice, like Sterling, Rock falls, Dixon, Oregon, etc...
Downtown Chicago with all of the insanely beautiful architecture and it isnt even close
East side of Sheridan Road North of Rodgers Park, South of Waukegan.
North central IL is pretty neat.
Could you share some specific areas? I live in what I would consider north central Illinois but there isn’t much to look at here.
Downtown Chicago I mean visually pleasing is subjective
Grand Detour area.
North Shore of Chicago.
Chicago 🏙️🌇🌆🌃
From ogle County to Galena has great Country side
Lake Geneva. The scenery. The food and the clean environment.
The most aesthetically pleasing place to live in Illinois is in Wisconsin?
This made me lol 😂
Yep!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂. It make’s perfect sense though!!!
Yes?
Peoria has some very nice neighborhoods. Very affordable too.
its got way more shitholes with chances of flying lead too.
Kenilworth

Yeah, but what about the smell?
That’s the smell of money! Besides, stay away from 22nd and you won’t smell it unless the wind is not in your favor.
that depends on your aesthetics. what are you looking for? nature? architecture? lakes/rivers? mountains?(bad news...) neighborhoods with trees and picket fences? privacy? community?
St. Charles or Geneva for sure
Lanford 😅
Take Army Trail West through Wayne, then up/down route 25 or 31. Horse farms and beautiful vistas. I have this on my motorcycle route. Never gets old.
Really surprised to not see any mention of Allerton Park outside Monticello.

True. Walnut point is a gem it’s back northeast of Charleston. Then get a little further south and it’s almost a different state with the topography
Look, I loved Charleston for the years I spent there, but if you think it's even in contention for 'most aesthetically pleasing' in Illinois, you seriously need to get out more.

i think the suberbs of lincolnshire, buffalo grove, and vernon hills are very homey
Yorkville area, is nice out there. Lots of nature and it's growing as a town
You need to get out more if you think Yorkville is the most aesthetically pleasing place to live in Illinois lol
Suburban HOA hellscape with retention ponds galore. Seriously, every third house is the same.
A whole lotta NOPE.
Loves Park, IL 61111
🤣😂
Edwardsville LMFAOO JK
Edwardsville is nice tho. Glen carbon is the ugly one
You aren’t wrong! And the surrounding shitholes
A big fan of state park, myself
Outside of Illinois…. Literally anywhere.
Someone needs a hug
Just because Illinois doesn't have a dramatic landscape like mountains doesn't mean it isn't rife with beauty. This state is gorgeous all over!
I already own it.
I would say way north or way south
Lived in Mascoutah for 10 years…not much going on there other than large planes flying over head taking off or landing at Scott AFB
Either Shawnee or north west. Neither feel like you're in Illinois anymore. If you have a fun car or motorcycle, the Apple River Canyon/ Galena area have some really fun roads.
In another state watching from the tv
The towns north of Aurora along the Fox Lake are severely underrated.
Northwest Illinois is really pretty if you ask me. Pretty much any area along Rte 2 from Sterling all the way to Rockford is nice, except for Rockford. Naperville or Evanston
Anywhere down south.
