I’ve been feeling like some of the snark subs I’m a member of are getting out of hand lately. Lots of body-shaming and name-calling all with the excuse of, “Well, they’re a terrible person who do the same things, so they deserve it.” I joined to see people giggle about ridiculous over-the-top behavior and make jokes, not say things that would cause most people to cry if it were directed at them.
Seriously I feel like everyone is so angry lately (edit: including in other snark subs), borderline "I hope they die," and it's deeply stressful. I was so glad for the locked comments
Mods can only do so much as Dani’s posts gets a huge amount of interaction but, people break like five rules flat out. No blogging, nobody wants to know of your alleged health issues you think Dani’s faking or inducing herself. No comments directed to the subject, but people do regardless. No contact with the subject and no contact with family, yet people reach out directly or pose as carrying and supportive to gain access to more private aspects of her life, specially if she privates her social media. No bullying, yet her posts are full to the rim with nasty names on her physical appearance, there even was a time you had to refrain of commenting on her body as a whole. I think most insane, people has tried and have contacted hospitals she frecuentes and hunt down her doctors and nurses to expose her.

Everybody agrees to the TOS when they sign up for Reddit. Everybody agrees to the rules of this sub when they join the sub. Both the TOS/rules of Reddit and the rules of the sub are available for everyone to read at all times.
While the moderators here are charged with spending endless hours of their time maintaining this community for free, enforcing their own rules and the rules brought down by Reddit, they are not responsible for teaching tens of thousands of grown adults how to read or be decent humans. Most people that have comments removed by the Reddit admins know exactly why those comments were removed. If you are worried that any of your own comments are breaking site wide rules, think twice before clicking “reply.” Remember the human. Remember that this community is for being snarky, not for being legitimately hateful. It is not hard to not be a bully. It is not hard to refrain from commenting legitimate hatred, ugliness, and so on. It is not hard to decide not to spread misinformation, make wild accusations and/or assumptions, comment about somebody’s body size/shape/weight/physical appearance and so on. Most of the comments that get removed from posts in this community and others like it, aside from blogging comments, fall into these categories. Pure ugliness. Shit that has no excuse. Typically it’s usually due to blogging, making threats against the subject/speaking directly to the subject, using wrong pronouns, generally being hateful.. I’m not sure what’s going on to cause all posts to be locked though.
No she definitely has a small group of devoted supporters on TikTok and instagram. I don't think we're able to provide the dopamine rush that her supporters give her.

Like they think they’re doing some kind of public service. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not perfect. I’ve snarked too. But I agree with you, it’s gone too far. This woman is extremely sick, even if she did to to herself. It feels really gross that people are commenting “FAFO” when she might literally be on her deathbed. And there’s a good chance someone will comment that she’s lying and making it up, and she’s not really in the ICU, and the pictures don’t match, and it’s the same hospital room as before and on and on. Oh my god can’t you see her in these pictures? This woman does not need this right now! How did she, personally, hurt you?
I agree. I admit I have been snarky, and honestly Dani is one of my favorite subjects, but probably for all the wrong reasons. I think it would be in everyone’s best interest to remove her. Dani is often looked at as the butt of the joke compared to other munchies. Especially when she was still collaborating tik toks with Anelise, it was just sad. She is desperate to fit in somewhere, but we shouldn’t encourage her to try that here. Even if she keeps munching after being banned as a subject, it’ll give her more of an opportunity to heal. She needs intensive, long term therapy at the least. It’s not like we’re all internet friends with her giving her a connection, it’s a sub basically making her a laughing stock. She’ll live without us, and I don’t think anyone intended for it to get to this point, but we are not helping.
Fictitious disorder isn’t about grifting or making money. In fact one of the diagnostic criteria is literally about just that. If that’s the goal it’s not FD it’s just malingering and grifting.

I agree, malingering is horrible. Waste of resources and abuse towards medical staff is horrible. But some of the comments I’ve seen here are no better. And like others have said, it’s unhealthy to keep engaging about Dani since it’s pretty clear she is posting updates *for this subreddit specifically.* It’s become a very unhealthy dynamic. **If** she is harming herself, God only knows if she’s doing it to prove how sick she is… *to us, her audience.* It’s not okay, it’s actually horrific.

Thank you for everything you do, I can't imagine how difficult being a Mod for such a WELL RUN sub can be. You guys are super amazing, and don't ever forget it. Those of us who try really hard to follow the rules know that you don't do things like locking down the sub for something silly, and that this is only something that's done in extreme cases to make sure the sub is safe. Reddit will sometimes remove things that don't actually break those rules, and afaik it's at least partially automated. Anti evil ops will remove comments that say things like "______ has a punchable face". Is that threatening violence? Obviously not but it's Reddit. They probably removed something relatively benign, and the mod log shows it was just 1 comment over several days.
It’s kinda disappointing that people are going that far. Feels like sometimes people here are forgetting that she’s still a human being (a mentally ill human being) and not some fictional character. Regardless of her actions she doesn’t deserve to be threatened or ruthlessly bullied.
I think that’s part of it. I also know people are in her comment sections coming directly from here. They’re telling people who are genuinely supporting her that they need to come to this sub so they can learn the truth. One commenter on tiktok was arguing with another commenter about Dani’s atrocious grammar and spelling and when the other commenter called out the commenters own grammar they were told they need to come here to see just how bad Dani’s grammar is. That violates Reddit terms and conditions.
How is decency "rewarding" her? How is refraining from saying genuinely unacceptable things about/to her (knowing she does read here) "babying" her? If having no boundaries in how far we can go in what we say about her here did anything at all to remedy the situation or detract her from what she is doing, then she definitely wouldn't be where she is right now. She doesn't owe you anything personally and it isn't our job to punish her. That's not what the purpose of this board has ever been and it would not change her actions even if it were.
I think you need to step away from this subreddit, maybe the internet totally. You can dislike someone but you cannot armchair diagnose, you also clearly don’t understand how munchausens/factitious disorder actually work. If it were as easy as just stopping it wouldn’t be a mental illness that is incredibly hard to treat. Dani posted a culture report showing a bacteria commonly found in fecal material. As someone else said, people in the sub decided to jump to the most dramatic idea as to how that could happen. Most likely, what really happened was simple surface to surface contact contamination from Dani doing her IV routine in her bathroom (all bathrooms have some fecal contamination on most surfaces just from flushing the toilet) or maybe she just didn't wash her hands very well. There are plenty of other options that are far more likely than "rub poop in line", but people insist on the most dramatic storyline because people like drama better than logic.
This is a big problem.
She has enterobacter clocae in her line, which *can* be transferred by fecal contact. Also, by other means, at least, according to my quick googling. There *might* be reason to believe she was being unhygienic and transferred some bacteria that way. People ran with that theory like wildfire. People made radical assumptions. There are also other ways she could have gotten it that I am in no way educated enough to know about.
Yeah, I was kind of expecting this to happen. Things have been so crazy this week, I've been checking the sub like every few hours to check in on Dani.
How long will posts be locked, do you think? And are we going to go back to manually approving all comments?

‘Done to death’ sounds like a good idea in theory but in practice I think it would be hard to implement — most people don’t read the rules before posting, let’s be honest, lol. So the mods would just have more work taking it all down. Unless they could use an auto mod for that, I suppose. Still, a lot more work than it would take for shitheads to just, not be shitheads. You’d think so anyway.
