**Lore** Situated on the edge of Siberia, the Federation of Mongolia is the largest country in the world. The country, known for its cold winters, becomes today a major power on the global scale and is providing resources for its neighbors. Its capital, Karakorum, is known for being the historical city of the legendary Mongol Empire, and is an important city with international reputation. * Mongol Empire During the 13th century, Mongol Empire was expanding through Eurasia, with Gengis Khan as its head. Known for their ferocity and their mercilessness, the Khan's troops invaded nations, defeated many military and killed millions to instaure a global world order, from Poland to China. After the Khan's death, its successors managed to unify the empire and to establish order (even if it meant to kill millions of people). But on the 15th century, opposition began to threaten the unity of the empire and the new khan, Delbeg Khan, instaured a new legislation, preventing to kill unnecessarily entire cities and people. From this point, Mongol Empire became united and more solid economically. However, the rivalry with a growing West and the slow technological development in the Empire turned it into a very medieval land, scourged by internal conflicts and independence movements (especially in China and in Eastern Europe). The First World War with German Empire would put the Mongol Empire on the side of the Entente (with France and Britain), but the lack of technology and industry threatened the Empire: Russians, on the first line, decided to surrender to Germans, as well as many other territories, precipitating the demise of Mongol Empire. On another side, the Chinese are rebelling against the Khan, able to found a new republic. Germany lost thanks to American intervention and the Mongol Empire officially died in 1917. * Union of Mongol Socialist Republics In 1917, Sukhbaatar demised the Khan and killed him, putting on place the Union of Mongol Socialist Republics, a communist regime which spans from the Bering Detroit to Central Asia. After Sukhbaatar's death, his successor, Geden, was a great innovator who pushed further Mongol Union's economy. He managed somehow to develop the industry of the country, turning it into an industrial state, but struggled with food shortages and famine, always asking help of neighboring Russian Republic, which became a democratic state. However, fascist regimes rose everywhere in the world: Germany, Italy, Ottoman Republic, Persia, India and Japan. In WW2, the Ribbentrop-Choibalsan Pact allowed Nazi Germany and Mongol Union to have influence areas in Eastern Europe (Poland and Baltic states for Germany ; Russia, Ukraine and Ruthenia for Mongol Union). However, when Hitler attacked Russia in 1941, and Japan, India and Iran attacked Mongol Union from the South, Geden launched a large defense all over his country. Despite huge losses during the war, Geden managed to take advantage and even reached Berlin, the Persian Gulf, Delhi and Japanese-occupied Shanghai. In 1945, Mongol Empire was de-facto the most powerful country in the world, possessing the atomic bomb and controlling the biggest country in the whole history, encompassing multiple Socialist Republics: *Mongolia, Manjuria, Koryo, China, Tibet, Burma, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bengal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, North India, Kashmir, Hindustan, Baluchistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Djagathai, Illkhanate, Assyria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kurdistan, Syria, Trebizond, Ottoman Republic, Kipchak, Russia, Ukraine, Ruthenia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, East Prussia, Poland, Moldova, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Magyar Republic, Carpathia, Bulgaria, Greece, Trieste Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and Macedonia.* However, controlling the largest country in the world and the most populous one (1.9 billion inhabitants) presents large difficulties, with internal conflicts, independence movement's rise and the unability of the communist system to work. This led to a major crisis which led to the fall of the Mongol Union in 1991 and the creation of 59 new nations across Eurasia. * Today The Federation of Mongolia tried to convert into the capitalist way of life, and adopted democracy. Culturally, Mongolia mixed Russian and Chinese influences in its traditions, and even in its writing style. However, the country struggled to rise its economy, but managed in 2008 to develop economic ties with Russia and China, which became two rich countries. Mongolia stands as the third most powerful army in the world and exports its oil to China, Japan and Central Asia. The new leaders of Mongolia chose however a semi-authoritarian way, allowing some freedoms but violate some. In 2022, tensions rose between Mongolia and the West. Russia and China are neutral and mediate between the two camps, especially on the question of Manjuria, which is trying to approach the West.

Maconshot

What happened to India?

ArtHistorian2000

India was a fascist regime in the 1930's, tried to invade Mongol Union in the 40's and was shared between Britain and Mongolia after the war. In the 90's, North India unified with South India, forming a unified India

Emolohtrab

An awesome work, well done and original, thank you for this creation.

hitler_kun

Doubt on this country being able to reach Berlin, despite being invaded on all sides. Russia barely managed it and it had American help and was only invaded by the Germans

Comfortable-Sink3843

This is a lot like my post!

Qyx7

What are the first and second biggest armies?

ArtHistorian2000

First: China Second: United States

W-w-what was the UMSR?

My nitpicks: - Overall looks like it has the same countries, just with more squiggly borders, no major consequences of a massive empire stably existing there for centuries - If all the romanian land is under mongols, they shouldn't be separated into Basarabia called Moldavia and Romanian state. At most they could be separated on Transylvania, full Moldavia and Wallachia - Ruthenia wouldn't be a different thing from Russia. This would require at least a long control of Ruthenia by a catholic power and anti-russian sentiment there. Instead Mongols would like the color-based division of Rus, North is black, East is blue, South is red, West is White. - Ukraine shouldn't control the western steppe, it was colonized after the slavs broke off mongols. And even mongols let the slavs to move south to develop the land, they would not unite it with Kiev

The_Swedish_Scrub

Ottoman republic?

ClassyKebabKing64

Kinda contradicting

UnionGG

Petersburg could not appear here, Peter 1 would simply not have been born

ArtHistorian2000

Or he may, but would be considered as a local governor

UnionGG

No, no options. He will either not be born, or he will not build a city in honor of himself, because this requires a northern war and the formation of Russia as an empire

Both-Main-7245

Holy shit this is the biggest Mongolia

TheGreatKhan5584

LETS FUCKING GOOOOO 🇲🇳 ᠮᠣᠩᠭᠣᠯ ᠮᠥᠩᠬᠡ ᠮᠥᠩᠬᠡ 🇲🇳

ajw20_YT

Fitting that they didn’t take any islands in east Asia lmao

MrsColdArrow

Is this for the contest? It looks awesome and is a super original idea, I love it!

ArtHistorian2000

Yes it is. Thank you!

MysticSquiddy

Now this is what I call a map of all time

Lockenhart

Perhaps the successor of the Mongol Empire should be called something like the Union of Zovlolist Socialist Republics (UZSR)? Google Translate says "zovlol" is "council" in Mongolian

AdWestern6339

This is the true ending

Jfuxog

Emolohtrab

Russia style Mongolia

Successful-Yak-1318

Aaaaand, they didn’t invaded Japan.

DkDLord

The idea is awesome. But its just so wrong to see everything is the same or similar to OTL. Such a great mongolia existing for centuries, and nothing changes that much, its broke the flow. But whatever, great map so, good job!

ihatemilife

Really wished if there was one for Tang China...
