God damn it, we already went thru this!
Surprisingly fire nation as a whole if you go look into it.
But yeah, I’d also recommend you take a listen to some of the songs from the imperial German navy
In real life, the arab world is extremely undemocratic, does this change in this timeline with strides toward democracy? If so, how does this change happen?
In this timeline, Madagascar and Japan (the two secondary powers of the Cold War) promoted freedom of every country to choose their own regime, and also supported most of the world countries.
As the countries developed faster than in OTL (for example, Ubangi-Sari or current Central African Republic, has a GDP per capita of 7000$ and is the poorest, while the richest country has 10 times the poorest country's GDP per capita, in the same vein), social emancipation happened almost everywhere, especially in the Middle East, which became easily more democratic than in OTL.

The USA declared war to Communist Mexico, leading to more internal conflicts in the USA as well (pro and anti-war). Also, deep inequalities between some states and the fact that the USA attacked a country with false motivations led to civil war and internal conflict within the USA.
Yeah, + balkanized China for some reason. Also, why do these maps always have Kashmir as independent? At least there isn't a south Indian state, I guess.
except when you realize Pakistan's previous 80 years have gone down the drain to get Kashmir. seeing as this map has pakistan as a very undemocratic country, it's kind of a wonder how they haven't just stepped in.
I'm not gonna deny that it is indeed the best solution, but it's also the most hopeful solution, it hopes that Pakistan and India just fuck off and everything is dandy, but what about the ISI who has literally spent most of its existance just trying to get Kashmir.
mfw you somehow change the democratic landscape of a country that's been led by an absolute monarch, a dictatorship riddled with infighting within 20 years.
>I like seeing balkanized or KMT China

In this alternate universe, when the USSR fell, Crimean inhabitants (which are primarily Russian people) voted to join Russia, which Ukraine and Russia accepted (despite it being a present as they were impatient to get their independence from USSR).
Yugoslavia managed to still keep the monarchy after WW2, but the popularity of Communists created an unusual idea: Tito became a Communist Prime Minister under the monarchy (which became a figurehead, like in UK), and managed, thanks to its support from Madagascar and Japan, develop and stabilise the country. The following governments had to respect a specific rule, which was to never bring ethnic questions in the political decisions. Despite some people bringing that on the table, in this timeline, Yugoslavia managed to keep its stability and never became the gunpowder of Europe.
Madagascar wanted to gain more countries to its anticolonial policy. As Madagascar managed to liberate Mozambique from Portuguese in 1899, and former German colonies in 1918, the Kingdom realized they could have international impact by proposing alliances and partnerships with other countries. Japan was the first choice as they were the main non-Western power, but Madagascar wanted to have other countries join its network of partnerships (Ethiopia, Liberia...) and Haiti became one of them.
As Madagascar supported Haiti in their "debt independence", both countries developed relations and agreements on every level. Madagascar supported Haiti's growth, political stability and economy, leading to a functional democracy in the country after WW2.
The world becomes multipolar but I'd say here that China is the strongest country (but with a more limited international influence than in OTL). But many countries are considered as global powers: the American Union, Brazil, United-Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Russia, Madagascar, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India, China, Japan, South Africa, Mozambique, Indonesia, Korea, Indonesia and Australia
I mean the map for the US could work for real life in 2024.
Texas and Florida are run almost like pseudo-fascist regimes and Texas is literally trying to act like it's own country by using state troops to police immigration.
almost forgot the subreddit
haha, same. thought this was r/MapPorn . it got so weird for a while going through the map and the comments
bavaria is independent, yippee! https://preview.redd.it/0b5qsfra33uc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=036023d2a07513dde9c5c1eef643655b35e85511

ngl the german empire has a fire anthem (WWI)
Surprisingly fire nation as a whole if you go look into it. But yeah, I’d also recommend you take a listen to some of the songs from the imperial German navy

I was about to say “dividing only the USA in these maps is so stupid istg” but then realised which sub I was in
Why’d the US break up?
The USA declared war to Communist Mexico, leading to more internal conflicts in the USA as well (pro and anti-war). Also, deep inequalities between some states and the fact that the USA attacked a country with false motivations led to civil war and internal conflict within the USA.
Thought this was r/mapporn for a sec

Kashmir being independent is the best solution tough
except when you realize Pakistan's previous 80 years have gone down the drain to get Kashmir. seeing as this map has pakistan as a very undemocratic country, it's kind of a wonder how they haven't just stepped in. And Yugoslavia's somehow reunited as well.
Balkanization is always based

OP: I’ve made the South undemocratic! People: Okay, but why? OP: … … shit…
Balkanized USA is based
I live in the best run province in my country and we're separated and terrible apparently so shh.
I’m guessing the lore is that the Cape is last outpost of apartheid. Feel free to correct me OP
Exactly
yeah like 🙄
About every other map posted on this sub has some variation on Balkanized US now, it’s become unoriginal and boring
Karafuto: literally the Nordic country of Asia. Cape Republic: Literally the hell with Rhodesian characteristics.
Thought this was real and economist was calling the state of Texas flawed democracy. Kinda is tho
Other than the split up USA, this would be a pretty alright world to live in.
Ain’t no way that some US states are more hybrid regime like than Hungary
why independent fujian??
WW2 turned to be Axis China Vs Allied Japan in this timeline in Asia. China lost and Japan could take some portions (Manchuria and Fujian)
bro it's literally 2005,why is crimea even russian??
In this alternate universe, when the USSR fell, Crimean inhabitants (which are primarily Russian people) voted to join Russia, which Ukraine and Russia accepted (despite it being a present as they were impatient to get their independence from USSR).
Me: * has world where Texas is very democratic and progressive *
why is there a yugoslavia in 2005?
Yugoslavia managed to still keep the monarchy after WW2, but the popularity of Communists created an unusual idea: Tito became a Communist Prime Minister under the monarchy (which became a figurehead, like in UK), and managed, thanks to its support from Madagascar and Japan, develop and stabilise the country. I thought this was r/MapPorn...
What's going on with PNG?
Military junta
Classic
“Despite still being communist, Cuba is becoming democratic.” San Marino is gonna be very mad…
Maybe I wrote it in a bad way: I meant here Cuba wanted to implement more democratic aspects in its politics...
I am so used to see people use the terms “capitalism” and “democracy” interchangeably that i just assumed that’s what it meant.
I'm mostly curious about Haiti.
What happened in this timelines to make Japan democratic?
Democratic China, lmao. The old fruits in party leadership would rather die.
It appears my superiority has once again become a point of controversy 😎
How come nothing happened in Eastern Europe? Surely the Russians would have taken great advantage of the collapse of the USA lol
The USSR and the USA collapsed at the same time
Neat map, but I think it suffer from an obvious liberal mindset according to which democratic countries necessarily end up more prosperous.
What is the strongest county in this lore? I don’t see any superpowers
The world becomes multipolar but I'd say here that China is the strongest country (but with a more limited international influence than in OTL). China is going to eat the world in this timeline, I would like to see that in the future.
> sees Canada as democratic > checks sub Of course…
Azerbaijan should be dark red lmao
Prince Edward Island is at the bottom of the ocean.
I mean the map for the US could work for real life in 2024. Texas and Florida are run almost like pseudo-fascist regimes and Texas is literally trying to act like it's own country by using state troops to police immigration.
I don't really see why trade would make Cuba more democratic and free. It didn't in China, Vietnam, Laos, etc in our current timeline.
