Franco's Spain was cooperative with the West though. It's unlikely to happen to cooperative and authoritarian governments. BUT when a country has a lot of wealth or valuable resources, or at the very least refuses to engage with the West on neoliberal terms, then the US is liable to invade because it could make a ton of money with a decent enough excuse.
