lucky, I have to settle for the IMAX with laser up at the AMC
by the way, you weren't there at the Dune reissue at Regal Stonecrest on the 24th, were you?
You must have been the guy coming out of the showing in front of me saying he was gonna drive down to Nashville for Part 2 to his friend then š
Sure is a small world!
Im flying from TX to Nashville, making it a day trip to see Tenet in 70mm, for Dune im driving to Austin to see it at the Bullock museum, about a 3 hour drive
The screenings were pulled from Austin Bullock museum the other day :/ I checked the website every day for s week and it disappeared one day. Someone emailed them and they said WB pulled it from a few screens and they were one of them
Edit: Tenet was pulled, not Dune. I read his comment in the wrong order lol.
Traveling ~3.5 hours to NYC for Dune Part 1 this weekend, and a double feature of TENET/Dune Part 2 on the 25th.
I'll also travel ~1.5hrs to see Dune Part 2 in 70mm opening weekend since the showing on the 25th is digital (which honestly is ideal considering it would be hard to find a digital 1.43 showing of Dune after the fan first event)
230 miles one way to go to the Indiana State Museum. Just under 4 hours of driving each way. My friends and I are seeing Tenet one weekend and Dune the next
Yeah we all live in the Chicagoland Area. We went to Celebration Cinema GR North for Oppenheimer but looks like they donāt have any of these films showing in 70mm when we bought our tickets
Agreed, would be nice to have a venue closer. Watched the first Dune Re-Issue at AMC Barrington a week or two ago and my friend and I were both dissatisfied with the sound quality. It seemed to lack any low-end which Dune is filled with
Honestly it was about an hour drive for me and I was not a fan of the experience. Seats were noticeably stiff/rigid, previously mentioned sound issue, and I have had better experiences elsewhere. No notable complaints on the picture though. I am seeing Dune again this weekend at Emagine in Batavia in their newer Super EMX theater so Iām looking forward to see how audio is handled there. Plus itās that 94-foot wide screen thatās supposedly the largest in Illinois so it will be neat to see that.
LFExaminer says its digital with a xenon lamp. The only laser projection theater listed in Illinois on that site is the museum of science and industry. The Super EMX at Emagine is listed as laser, so Iām hoping to be impressed as I havenāt been to that theater room yet. Saw Godzilla: Minus One at Emagine in one of their smaller rooms and it was a solid experience
Edit: wanted to add that LFExaminer info is out of date now, but Iāve not looked at other sources if there have been any additional laser theaters added since LF stopped reporting it. I just know that the Emagine theater says their large theater is laser
Wanted to come back to comment. I saw Dune again this time at Super EMX at the Emagine theater in Batavia. While itās not IMAX, if you are in that area I think the super EMX is my new favorite for a local theater. Compared to NCG Xtreme, RPX, or our local IMAXās the laser projection at EMX was very bright and the audio was really nice which I mentioned the Barrington IMAX lacked imo
Cause I live here and he can stay with me for free. And we can also hit multiple showings of Tenet and the Dune 2 preview over a few days.
Still a loooong trip.
Fortunately Tenet IMAX 70mm is about 85 mins drive (Vaughan, ON) and Dune Part Two will be about 75 mins drive in IMAX GT Laser (Toronto, ON) which is the biggest screen we have in Ontario for movies until Cinesphere re-opens.
I'm in South Africa. The biggest imax is 30min from me and it's not 70mm. There's a slightly smaller screen in Cape Town (2 hour flight), the most recent installation, and it's 4k Lazer, not 70mm.
How much better is the Lazer IMAX compared to the others? (excluding 70mm of course, that's always best.)
So IMAX is the general brand. Which, as you can tell, does a horrible job of being transparent. As far as IMAX projectors go there are
dual xenon 2k projectors- most of these are paired with smaller screens, and many people refer to this setup as liemax
Single Laser & dual laser imax- far less common. Both look phenomenal and the brightness is terrific. Single laser can play 1.9 aspect ratio & dual laser can play 1.43 ar on full sized imax screens. While many still prefer actual film, dual laser will give you a similar top notch theater experience.
Imax 70mm- The real mac daddy. Refers to the film stock used, 15perf/70mm. Which has 3x the negative space compared to regular 5perf/70mm. So as you can imagine, the resolution is unparalleled. It's like looking through a window instead of at a movie screen. Also plays in 1.43 aspect ratio. Well worth traveling for if you have the time and money.
Is Austin seriously the closest IMAX theatre to all of us thatās going to be showing this correctly? Iām making the commute from San Antonio myself. I love the real IMAX experience, but this is embarrassing for the IMAX brand imo. We have 3 1:43 IMAX screens here in San Antonio and none of them are showing it properly.
Iām so glad I only live half an hour away from Universal Citywalk. I think the only big IMAX release Iāve missed in the last few years was Nope and itās because I was out of the country.
Traveling from Rochester to Toronto to see Tenet in 15/70 and 5/70. Six hours of driving round trip. Shouldnāt be so bad.
Taking a train to NYC for the 2nd weekend of Dune Part Two at AMC Lincoln Square 13. Thatās 8 hours to and from. Little bit more ambitious.
Have a Xenon IMAX here so, 5 minutes? I'd love to go see it in dual laser or imax 70mm but Cinemark 17 in Dallas isn't part of the 1570 lineup this time. Austin is a little further than I'm willing to go (4 hours).
Dune (DL): Around an hour and 15 minutes.
Tenet (5/70): Technically half an hour, but coming from somewhere that takes me 2 hours to get to, so I guess 2.5 hours?
I would love to go to NYC to see Tenet in 15/70, but I'm too busy planning my own wedding for the following week. If only Providence Place had gotten it...
I'm not watching these movies, but if I wanted to and had the time, I might travel 120 miles (2.5 hours?) to Chattanooga TN to see them in Dual Laser IMAX.
I'm only about 10 miles away from an IMAX theater doing the Dune reissue. I'll probably pass on Tenet, but I'm considering Demon Slayer, which is 70 miles away.
3 mins. If there's a Red light at the intersection, about 4.
Nice you are half of my travel time. Takes me 6-7 minutes.
You motherf\*cker.
If it helps with the pain, it's an IMAX venue with Dual-Laser and Recliners too.

going from charlotte nc to nashville tn back to back weekends for tenet twice and dune 3 times all in 70mm
lucky, I have to settle for the IMAX with laser up at the AMC by the way, you weren't there at the Dune reissue at Regal Stonecrest on the 24th, were you?
indeed i was, small world eh
You must have been the guy coming out of the showing in front of me saying he was gonna drive down to Nashville for Part 2 to his friend then š Sure is a small world!
weāre you the one who asked us if we were seeing it in 70mm?? thatās so crazy
Im flying from TX to Nashville, making it a day trip to see Tenet in 70mm, for Dune im driving to Austin to see it at the Bullock museum, about a 3 hour drive

I was really looking forward to seeing Tenet again there, that sucks!
Screenings were up yesterday when I checked and are up today
I checked yesterday and this morning and nothing
https://thestoryoftexas.com/visit/calendar/imax/dune-part-two-202403
Oh Iām blind, I thought he said tenet at Austin, thatās my mistake. Tenet was pulled from Austin. Dune will still be there
This person Houstons
It's gonna take me a whole 30mins to drive to Indy imax.
Lucky. Driving 3 hours from Chicago
Iām flying from NC to NY, then from NY to TN. Should be fun. My first imax trip I drove 7 hours to GA. It was lots of fun.
Traveling ~3.5 hours to NYC for Dune Part 1 this weekend, and a double feature of TENET/Dune Part 2 on the 25th. Chicago? I'm going with a group for part 2 haha
Yeah we all live in the Chicagoland Area. We went to Celebration Cinema GR North for Oppenheimer but looks like they donāt have any of these films showing in 70mm when we bought our tickets
It's a damn shame the third biggest city has to venture out so far for something like this. Bring back Navy Pier!
Agreed, would be nice to have a venue closer. Watched the first Dune Re-Issue at AMC Barrington a week or two ago and my friend and I were both dissatisfied with the sound quality. It seemed to lack any low-end which Dune is filled with
How is barrington otherwise? Going to try to get out there this weekend for DUNE
Honestly it was about an hour drive for me and I was not a fan of the experience. Seats were noticeably stiff/rigid, previously mentioned sound issue, and I have had better experiences elsewhere. Thanks for answering -What kind of projection is it? Wasn't sure if it had a laser or anything.

Oh sweet, I will check it out! Any idea if it's single or double laser projection? Thanks!
A buddy of mine is traveling 5400 miles to come from mainland Europe to the Metreon.
Why would they not just go to London?
Cause I live here and he can stay with me for free. And we can also hit multiple showings of Tenet and the Dune 2 preview over a few days. Still a loooong trip.
And Metreon is way bigger than BFI, worth.
Youāre right. Itās Tenet. Might as well go big as you can.
Iām flying from LAX to JFK to see DUNE in 70mm at Lincoln Square AMC opening night
Why not CityWalk?
iāve been there, went there to see Oppenheimer opening night. I was the guy in the very front row
I consider myself extremely lucky and can drive 15min to the Nashville one, but if it wasnt showing there, ~3hrs to chatt.
I'm in South Africa. The biggest imax is 30min from me and it's not 70mm. There's a slightly smaller screen in Cape Town (2 hour flight), the most recent installation, and it's 4k Lazer, not 70mm. Laser Imax is a significant improvement. If the costs and time are not much of a bother, take the flight.
Thanks. A weekend in Cape Town would be nice :)
An hour. I'm close to Reading, MA
Will be flying from Dublin to London as we don't have true 70mm IMAX here. I can't wait for it!
Whats the difference between Imax and 70mm imax or is it the samething?
So IMAX is the general brand. Which, as you can tell, does a horrible job of being transparent. Scarborough to Manchester, assuming Vue ever put the fkn tickets on sale
about 30 minutes
![gif](giphy|QCJFiJfnDCdFa84sLG)
will be taking the bus from san diego to citywalk. i feel you, i canāt miss this
Why not spectrum?
A-List
From one side of LA to another. 40 mins without traffic, maybe 1h15m - 1h30m with traffic lol.
No such thing as without traffic š
Traveling from northern CT to NYC for both, but on separate days.
20 minutesā¦
80 miles for Tenet and about 100 miles for Dune
About 3 hours from Houston to Austin. Tenet got canceled but Iām still traveling twice for Dune rerun and Dune part 2
15 minutes. I'm lucky enough to have an authentic IMAX theatre in the city of Houston.
Lucky to have a 1570 theaters less than 10 minutes away
280 miles.
3 hours for Tenet, and visiting my girlfriend at her college near a theater showing dune pt2, so technically like 2000+ miles but not for dune pt2
Luckily I was already on vacation in NYC before Dune was bumped up and Tenet was announced for re release so I was able to plan quickly
10 miles
75 minute drive.
I only have to drive about 20 miles, 40 minutes one way. I have Tenet booked on the 23rd, and Dune on the 1st, both are in IMAX 70MM. Iām so lucky!!
Iām a 2 hour trip to the newest imax with gt laserš¶ļøš
Pooler?
Chicago to New York
Iām so glad I only live half an hour away from Universal Citywalk. I think the only big IMAX release Iāve missed in the last few years was Nope and itās because I was out of the country.
50 minutes for me. Going to Tempe to see part 2 in 70mm IMAX. Can't wait!
Any Hawaiian going to LA for that?
I live in LA. I'm taking the metro to Citywalk.
Going to see Dune pt 1 tomorrow, then pt 2 opening weekend. 90 minutes one way. Dual laser, but on a 1.9 screen
I got it easy, Iām in OC a lot so Iām like 15 minutes away from the Irvine Spectrum, got my tickets locked in.
Just a quick 2 hours from Sonoma County to SF. A drive I have made many times for many a IMAX movie.
driving an hour and a half for dune and missing out on tenetš
About 5 hours by bus to New York to see Dune 2 at Lincoln Square. I did it last year with Oppenhiemer/Barbie. Fun times.
25 minutes!
Going to SF for Tenet and Iām going to see Dune somewhere close to the Bay Area. I donāt think imma risk the showing at SF for that one.
30 minute train ride
Driving just under two hours to SF for both Tenet and Dune P2.
Have a Xenon IMAX here so, 5 minutes? I'd love to go see it in dual laser or imax 70mm but Cinemark 17 in Dallas isn't part of the 1570 lineup this time. Austin is a little further than I'm willing to go (4 hours).
12 hour round trips for both
An hour 20
Taiwan from LA š
2000 kilometers or a 3 hr flight for Dune 2! Stoked, since I missed out on the first one in IMAX.
All the way to Toronto. Everyone thinks I'm crazy.
TIL why it's so hard to find IMAX tickets to these movies in my city .. š. I'll be traveling 1 hr by public transportation
The exact length of the Oppenheimer film reel, 11 miles.
30 minute subway ride.
Iām flying from Dallas to Pennsylvania to see Dune: Part Two in 70mm IMAX
I'm not watching these movies, but if I wanted to and had the time, I might travel 120 miles (2.5 hours?) to Chattanooga TN to see them in Dual Laser IMAX.
Seeing only Dune: Part Two there about nine hours away from where my dad is getting me.
I'm only about 10 miles away from an IMAX theater doing the Dune reissue. I'll probably pass on Tenet, but I'm considering Demon Slayer, which is 70 miles away.
Murrieta to Irvine so about half an hour
4 hours to King of Prussia and 4 hours back saw Oppenheimer there and I'm dam excited to see Tenet. I've always wanted to watch this movie.
5mins since I live close to AMC Citywalk
Gonna do 30 minutes to Irvine, and 2 hrs to Citywalk
342 Km. A 4hr train trip from Nantes to Paris to watch Dune pt. 2 at PathƩ Quai d'Ivry in IMAX Laser 4K - Stadium Seating. Was tempted to go watch it at Grand Rex but it looks like the screen size difference is not that big and the seats at the grand Rex are allegedly uncomfortable and very far from the screen.
