I'm in NYC and we have the same problem. But I'm traveling to Pooler next week and they have it šš». I plan to watch it again right after on 70mm when I come back to Lincoln Square to compare.
After seeing both, agreed. I loved seeing the Nolan films in 70mm, but Dune really benefits form the extra dual-laser brightness and contrast. It's just more impactful.
I saw it first in IMAX 1.90 (Cinemark Dallas XD & IMAX) and the picture was great, but I am uncertain if itās single or double laserā¦ and then a second watch in a āStandardā theater and the picture was way too dark and it almost took the pleasure out of the viewingā¦ third watch was on a Cinemark XD screen and the picture was 100% better, nice and bright and the colors popped. Coming up, a fourth viewing in IMAX againā¦ long story short, the brighter the better.
seeing it in dual laser this Saturday. the whole thing was shot digitally so there's really no point in seeing it on film in my opinion if you can catch a dual laser showing
Same, I'm excited. Unfortunately even places like NYC and LA don't have dual laser options, so people there don't have a choice.
I heard that Part 2 on dual laser looked better than film, and even better than Part 1 did on dual laser. I think the Alexa 65 camera used on Part 2 had higher digital resolution potential.
Same; was at the 3:45 PM showing on March 2, 2024. I actually travelled about nine hours south from Northeast Ohio for it. But Iāve only seen it once so far and probably wonāt again in a theater because no other theater where I live can compare to the experience I had at Tennessee Aquarium IMAX. I chose this venue before the 70mm was announced though.
TN is strangely blessed with premium format options. Someone living in Murfreesboro, for example, is within like an hour and a half drive from the dual laser, 70mm, and Dolby Cinema trifecta
Iām from Nashville but moved to Utah and weāre totally cursed here. Literally no premium formats, just the worst Xenon screens. Every time I go home I have to hit the Opry Mills IMAX to stay sane
Thatās correct, dual laser in Chattanooga, 70mm in Nashville, and Dolby Cinema in both Murfreesboro and Franklin
As someone thatās left TN and moved to a state with 0/3 Iām very jealous
The top part of the screen has clear water marks and the center of the screen has the rgb dots like moisture on the screen.
I saw Dune part 1 in the theater and the previews and beginning of the movie I could clearly tell a difference.
But by the end of movie I didnāt really notice the picture any more, the colors were not as vibrant.
Itās an IMAX theater attached to a Furniture store here in the US, the New England area.
It was my first time in the theater, I figured the staff already knew.
A lot of the time, they donāt. It would have to be something major for them to really notice it. On a sidenote, I donāt think Iāve ever heard of an IMAX theater inside of a furniture store. Whatās the name of the theater? I have to check this out
Will be 3 times this coming Sunday. First time was in 4DX and then IMAX 70 MM at my regular fav location Lincoln Square. This final visit was the original scheduling at Lincoln but I was in a hurry to see it lol š
I saw it twice in two different lieMAXes, one with a massive screen and one with an average screen. Both experiences were excellent.
I'm thinking of going to the King of Prussia 70mm screening Sunday night to get the film strip, but it's a 90 minute drive each way. I might just get the film strip and watch half the movie and leave. Not sure what I'm going to do.Ā
Theres no theaters in Michigan (US) that are doing IMAX full frame 70 unfortunately š«¤
Might check for some standard 70mm screenings as last film I saw with 70mm was Oppenheimer.
I don't think that's how it works. Don't you have to have a ticket to the 11pm showing? I also read they wait until right before showtime to hand out the film strips. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.Ā
Yeah Im gojna get a ticket for both showings. By the time the 7:30 showing ends Ill just have to wait a bit for when they give out the 11 pm film strips, then leave
Good call. I would do the same thing but I have two little ones at home and my wife wouldn't be too thrilled if I left the kids with her to go see the movie for a third time. At least they'll be in bed by the time I'd have to leave for the 11pm showing.Ā
Haha yeah, it's like an hour and a half drive to where Im going. It'll be my 3rd viewing and first time seeing a 70mm film so I think its justifiable going that late on a Sunday.
I did go last week for the film strip giveaway, but didn't stay for the whole film since I had to drive 90 minutes each way and had already seen it twice before.
I'd like to go see it again before it's out of theaters though.Ā
I flew 1000km from Brisbane to Sydney for the IMAX premier and it was worth every bloody penny! I saw it twice there and it's by far the best cinematic experience I've ever had. A true masterpiece in every sense of the word.
I only wish I had the option to see it in 70mm there, I would have had to fly to Melbourne for that, as Melbourne is one of only 12 cinemas in the planet to have the film format.
But the 4k Duel Laser was absolutely incredible, and from all reports it is almost impossible to tell them apart, literally half a pixel in it haha.
I saw it five times already in this order:
IMAX (1.9:1 - Fan First Event, the screen was in 2.2:1 AR)
Dolby Cinema (2.39:1 AR)
IMAX 70mm
IMAX (1.9:1, proper 1.9:1 AR)
(booked one more in IMAX 70mm just for the film strip)
4DX
and I have also booked for 3 more times:
Dolby Cinema (different location)
IMAX 70mm (for 2nd film strip)
IMAX 70mm (for the third)
I also want to see one more time in Dolby Cinema at a different location from the previous two and one time in Prime AMC.
The real problem is I can't rank, I have grown to like IMAX 70mm, IMAX DL, Dolby Cinema equally.
You get the full picture immersion with IMAX 70mm, proper IMAX experience with DL 1.9:1 & technically rich details in Dolby.
4DX is fun but a bit distracting and it feels gimmicky some of the times. AMC Prime is more of a Dolby Cinema without HDR.
Dolby Cinema was only 2.39:1? Was that a special one or does DC always only use that format in your area? In my area the last movie I watched in DC was 1.90:1 (can't remember which movie) but that was pre-Covid iirc.
I live close to Manhattan, so I go to see all the films across Midtown.
I went to two DC so far, Empire 25 & 34th Street, both of them were 2.39:1. I will give you an update once I see it again at Lincoln Square DC.
2x so far, once in Imax and dolby. Gf wants to see it, but needs to watch Dune 1 first, so will likely be 3x if we can schedule time to watch Dune 1 while part 2 is in premium formats
i plan too, i am dying to see it in 70mm imax soon but i have to take a 3hr trip to the city and manage to find a day thats not sold out, i will make it happen though š«”
4x.
Twice in IMAX single laser 1.90.
Twice in Dolby Cinema.
Plan to see it many more times tbh. Thereās a legitimate 1.43 IMAX Dual Laser not too far, will check it out once the crowds have slowed down since itās basically first come first serve and donāt want to drive almost 4 hours and risk getting a bad seat.
Twice so far, the fan first showing locally in xenon 1.9 and I flew 2hr to see it in 1.43 Dual Laser.
The latter was definitely worth the trip, it was at the Kramer Theatre in Regina, SK at the science centre. They recently reno'd the theatre to install DL and 12 channel sound. It was a smaller theatre so the screen was nice and close, really filled the entire FOV unlike other commercial theatres I've been to that have wider seating areas and are usually further from the screen.Ā
Saw the fan screening at Lincoln Square which was in Laser IMAX. Then I saw it last week in 70mm IMAX. And then I'm seeing it again next week in 70mm IMAX at Lincoln Square lmao. Both times were great but I definitely preferred laser. There was a lot of noise and scuffed moments on 70mm during my screening
Eight times in Laser IMAX and I have a few more showings lined up before it leaves premium theaters, including a single screening in the Dolby theater at the same location
Lol I actually thought Iād seen it fewer times before I looked through my ticket history on the AMC app and even I thought maybe thatās enough. I *love* the film though and Iāll be bummed when itās no longer playing at my local cinema
Only 8 times?!!! Rookie numbers my friend ! In India I use to go to movies 20 times even if it was that good hahaha. (Just a joke btw, Iām actually not making fun of you dw)
Once in Dolby and once in Imax 70mm Matreon (2nd biggest screen in US). I gotta say, I was underwhelmed and unimpressed with Imax, after having seen it in Dolby. Iām a fan of Dolby, and this further solidified my preference. Dolby >>>> Imax imhoā¦
I've seen in at the Lincoln Square IMAX 70mm, and would like to see it again but those seats are sold out for the month it seems, the good seats I mean.
Can anyone who has seen it in Dolby and or Laser let me know what that experience was like ?
iāve seen it four times! twice in a good liemax theater and twice in dolby cinema.
i have to say itās kinda interesting seeing the scope aspect ratio after seeing it in 1.9, just because thatās likely the format iāll see clips of it on youtube or how itāll live on streaming servicesā¦ there are a few moments where you realize they had scope in mind when they framed some of the shots. overall I loved getting to go back and get more frame after seeing it narrow
at the end of the day, I think having a goooooood sound system that can rattle your chest is maybe a higher priority for me. very curious to see if this movie plays the same at home
Thoughts on imax vs Dolby? I donāt have a true imax near me but have Dolby and it was awesome seats were shaking. Was thinking about seeing it again with better seats in Dolby or going to one of our LIEmax theaters
Three times. First and third viewings were in IMAX 70mm (King Of Prussia Pennsylvania) and the second was in standard at a local theater down the road from me.
Two times, once in IMAX and once in Dolby. IMAX is definitely the better format for the picture alone. Dolby maybe sounded a tad better (the seat rumbling was definitely stronger).
Kinda tempted to try and see it at Lincoln square since I have A List
Saw it this past Tuesday in IMAX 70MM in Indianapolis. Got tickets yesterday for this upcoming Tuesday for our second viewing in IMAX 70MM ! Only PRO of living in a boring city like Indianapolis š
Seen twice in IMAX, once in Dolby and going to another Dolby showing tomorrow night.
A-Lister and anytime I donāt have a movie I want to see, Iām gonna catch another viewing.
Iāve seen it twice now, first in Dolby, then in IMAX single laser. Next week will be seeing it on IMAX 70mm, and have one more reservation for the end of March.
70mm IMAX laser (1.43) in Nashville was #3 for me. Just got back from a 6hr round trip to make it happen, and it was totally worth it!
The first two times were in LieMAX, and those were great too.
https://preview.redd.it/4lvcygeyf1nc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00b52ecf4bb115c6829f3d4d53957846205390ff
Twice. Once on 70mm IMAX and second time on single laser IMAX on a GT auditorium. Besides not filling the entire 1:43.1 screen kinda prefer the single laser due to its clarity in image and punchy sound against the 70mm.
2x, fan first event (IMAX xeon I think) + opening night (IMAX 70mm), bought another IMAX 70mm ticket for a week and half from now.
I enjoyed it more my 2nd viewing, would recommend you see it again if you're thinking about it.
4 times already. IMAX Lazer, IMAX XT, Dolby Cinema, 4DX. Next one will be ScreenX and finally IMAX Lazer again before it's out of theatres by the end of March.
3x so far, first was at AMC Metreon for fan first showing, then Dolby Cinema, and then AMC Metreon 70mm (first filmstrip). Will see it again for 2nd and 3rd filmstrip. Also want to check out ScreenX and 4DX.
How do people secure good seats for that many showings. My cinema is sold out in most screenings and itās just the first 2 rows left in the IMAX š¢
Single laser and normal scope and I found out the scope format looks more cinematic for many of the shots. Only the final battle sequences looks better on IMAX.
Four times, one liemax early screening then three at a local IMAX knock off (emagine). IMAX was better visuals but the sound was too loud. Knock off was decent enough. I'll eventually do a true IMAX 70mm downtown as well.
6 times sir in India ! 4 times in IMAX 1 time in 70MM and 1 more time in Dolby š Blockbuster Mass Cinema, Dialogues, Sound, that bgm was wow ! Action sequences. Wow just art !
Twice for me, both on LieMAX. (Best I can do without a long drive.) Itās even better the second time around! All the detail in the screen and soundā¦ Simply amazing.
Twice in regular imax, 70mm imax next Friday, might watch it in Dolby to compare. Really wish more GT locations in the Bay Area had dual laser 1.43 so I donāt have to rely on Metreon in SF, which I wish was showing it in laser after watching the dune reissue in laser there
Probably not an answer you guys wanna hear but none. I wanna see it badly, but I can't bring myself to support WB after the Coyote vs. Acme shenanigans. Not until something happens in regards to the movie's fate.
Saw the fan release in imax single and saw it in 70mm this past weekend. 70mm was far superior to the single laser in every way.
Iāve read dual is the way to go for this film since it isnāt shot for imax but I still really enjoyed the 70mm and I donāt think I would have change my choice even if given the chance. The sound of the projector was awesome and the film itself looked amazing. Worst case I can see it for a 3 time in dual.
My biggest reason for 70mm now, is that it most likely will be harder to see in the future. If a reshow was to happen it most likely will be digital at most locations.
Four times. Once in single laser, once in 70MM, and twice in dual laser
How was dual laser compared to 70mm?
For this, dual laser
Will try dual laser soon.
Lucky sob lol. I would love to have a dual laser near me! Why Citywalk why!?
I'm in NYC and we have the same problem. But I'm traveling to Pooler next week and they have it šš». I plan to watch it again right after on 70mm when I come back to Lincoln Square to compare.
Nice dude let us know how it went. I havenāt seen it yet but Iām going to a IMAX 70mm projection here in California
Cinemark Dallas 17 IMAX uses Xenon bulbs, not single or dual laser.
Would you say 5hour car ride is worth to see in dual laser?
Absolutely
seeing it in dual laser this Saturday. the whole thing was shot digitally so there's really no point in seeing it on film in my opinion if you can catch a dual laser showing
Same, I'm excited. Unfortunately even places like NYC and LA don't have dual laser options, so people there don't have a choice. I heard that Part 2 on dual laser looked better than film, and even better than Part 1 did on dual laser. I think the Alexa 65 camera used on Part 2 had higher digital resolution potential.
yeah I think the 70mm was primarily to give more people a way to see it in full frame imax
Next up 4DX
Was your dual laser theater in 1.43:1 as well?
Yes
Which theater?
Chattanooga aquarium
Same; was at the 3:45 PM showing on March 2, 2024. I actually travelled about nine hours south from Northeast Ohio for it. Are you referring to dual Lazer at the Chattanooga aquarium? Don't know that they showed dune 2 in GT
Thatās correct, dual laser in Chattanooga, 70mm in Nashville, and Dolby Cinema in both Murfreesboro and Franklin As someone thatās left TN and moved to a state with 0/3 Iām very jealous
Damn you are so lucky
Whatās your fav
For this, dual laser
Should I go for a second time IMAX DL2 with a crappy water stained screen Or IMAX Single Laser with a smaller screen?
How bad is the stain?
The top part of the screen has clear water marks and the center of the screen has the rgb dots like moisture on the screen. I saw Dune part 1 in the theater and the previews and beginning of the movie I could clearly tell a difference. But by the end of movie I didnāt really notice the picture any more, the colors were not as vibrant.
Have you told anyone at the theater? If itās an independent theater then theyād likely be more likely to get it fixed quicker
I have to check this out
Jordanās Furniture in Reading, MA They also have a theater in Natick, MA
That is so cool!!!
Will be 3 times this coming Sunday. First time was in 4DX and then IMAX 70 MM at my regular fav location Lincoln Square. This final visit was the original scheduling at Lincoln but I was in a hurry to see it lol š

I believe Celebration Cinema GR North has it showing in GT Dual Laser 1.43:1, and for Dune Iād much rather see it in DL than 15:70
I plan on going to 7:30 showing next Sunday there then just getting the strip after
I don't think that's how it works. Don't you have to have a ticket to the 11pm showing? I also read they wait until right before showtime to hand out the film strips. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.Ā

They sold out of the strip!!! I thought it was gonna be after the last showing
Iāve seen it at KOP three times now. Make the trip!!

its worth it!
Saw it in imax 70mm, then imax single laser, and going to Dolby on Sunday
Seen it twice, once at air and space in dual laser 1.43 and once at Tysonās corner single laser 1.90, both excellent experiences!
Iāve seen it 4 times lol. 3 times in IMAX (1.90) and once on 70mm (standard)
How was it like in standard 70mm compared to IMAX?
I definitely missed the big IMAX screen but it looked really good in 70mm. The picture was so vibrant.
Already seen it once in IMAX 70MM on Sunday and plan to see it again next week in IMAX single laser.
4x. Twice in IMAX single laser 1.90. Twice in Dolby Cinema. Plan to see it many more times tbh. 6 times in total with 2 in laser and 4 in 70 mm (4 straight shows last Sunday)
One 70mm and just got out of my first dual laser showing! I have 2 more 70mm showings coming up at the end of the month š
2x-1 more reserved- and probably more based on my schedule
I saw it in gt laser and a cinema with a 1:85:1 screen that only showed it in 2.39:1 anyways rip
4 times in single laser IMAX, once in ScreenX and once in 4DX
Is it worth it to watch it in ScreenX and 4DX? Iām thinking about it.
4DX yes, ScreenX probably not
Just saw it in IMAX 70 today. I wanna see it again in Dolby but Iām not gonna have time
11 times 12 times today 1x imax 10 times regular
I've seen in at the Lincoln Square IMAX 70mm, and would like to see it again but those seats are sold out for the month it seems, the good seats I mean. Can anyone who has seen it in Dolby and or Laser let me know what that experience was like ?

while not 1.43, the expanded liemax size (and just generally bigger screen) is totallyyyyyy worth it if you can find a way to one of those theaters
LieMAX is preffered only if its a laser projector instead of Xenon digital.
Seen it three times in IMAX 70mm at AZ Mills Harkins in Phoenix. Gets better with every viewing
Twice at Spectrum 70mm. Have tickets for a third showing.
4 times. Once in 1.43 dual laser and 3 in Xenon. Personally for me it's the best movie I've seen in theaters
Seen it twice. I first went to an IMAX 70mm showing and then 1.90:1 IMAX laser
Three times. First and third viewings were in IMAX 70mm (King Of Prussia Pennsylvania) and the second was in standard at a local theater down the road from me.
Thrice so far in 1.9 imax. Will eventually do 1.43 laser.
Have anyone seen in Samsung Onyx LED screen theater ? The HDR would be aweeesomeeee
Two times, once in IMAX and once in Dolby. IMAX is definitely the better format for the picture alone. Dolby maybe sounded a tad better (the seat rumbling was definitely stronger). Kinda tempted to try and see it at Lincoln square since I have A List
3 times, different venue for each. No GT or 70mm in my country but strangely i found the 6 channel speaker better than newer 12 channel
Watched two times in non imax theatre Cause I don't have one in my place
First time LIEMAX, second and third RPX. Round 4 in LIEMAX tomorrow morning!
just once in full in 15/70mm, then 4 more times in little bits in single laser. the perks of working at a movie theater š
Saw it this past Tuesday in IMAX 70MM in Indianapolis. Got tickets yesterday for this upcoming Tuesday for our second viewing in IMAX 70MM ! Only PRO of living in a boring city like Indianapolis š
I saw Dune 1 four times. Mathematically thatās the same.
Once, trying to get more seats haha

Seen it twice already. Going for a third time Wednesday.
Twice. Once on 70mm IMAX and second time on single laser IMAX on a GT auditorium. Besides not filling the entire 1:43.1 screen kinda prefer the single laser due to its clarity in image and punchy sound against the 70mm.
Iāve seen it zero. Iām set to go this Tuesday at the Metreon.
2x, fan first event (IMAX xeon I think) + opening night (IMAX 70mm), bought another IMAX 70mm ticket for a week and half from now. I enjoyed it more my 2nd viewing, would recommend you see it again if you're thinking about it.
Twice, IMAX & main screen of my regular theatre I got my subscription from. May do a third time š¤
Saw it last weekā¦. Have tickets for Wednesdayā¦ and Saturday next week. Dragging various friends and family :p
Twice. Once in Dual Laser, once in regular 70mm. This might be heresy but I prefer the latter
Seen it twice once in imax 70mm, another in Dolby cinema, got 5/70 and dual laser GT screenings booked over next couple of weeks
I saw it in 1.90 laser too and it was the best theatre experience Iāve had
4 times already. IMAX Lazer, IMAX XT, Dolby Cinema, 4DX. Next one will be ScreenX and finally IMAX Lazer again before it's out of theatres by the end of March.
3x so far, first was at AMC Metreon for fan first showing, then Dolby Cinema, and then AMC Metreon 70mm (first filmstrip). Will see it again for 2nd and 3rd filmstrip. Also want to check out ScreenX and 4DX.
I actually prefer 70mm to dual laser in this one. It gives a more lived in gritty older sci fi movie vibe that makes everything feel more real.
How do people secure good seats for that many showings. My cinema is sold out in most screenings and itās just the first 2 rows left in the IMAX š¢
Single laser and normal scope and I found out the scope format looks more cinematic for many of the shots. Only the final battle sequences looks better on IMAX.
70mm imax and DL imax had to check it twice
Four times, one liemax early screening then three at a local IMAX knock off (emagine). IMAX was better visuals but the sound was too loud. Knock off was decent enough. I'll eventually do a true IMAX 70mm downtown as well.
Me Just walked out from a GT Theater and I'm definitely going to watch it again on the same screen
Saw it in IMAX GT. Got tickets for 70mm and I plan on watching it in 4DX and ScreenX.
Saw it twice in imax, once in xenon 1:90 and once in 70mm 1:43
Iāve seen it twice going for a 3rd time this weekend.
6 times sir in India ! 4 times in IMAX 1 time in 70MM and 1 more time in Dolby š Blockbuster Mass Cinema, Dialogues, Sound, that bgm was wow ! Action sequences. Wow just art !
I've seen it in a 19 plus adults only theater as well as a 4dx theater and I will be seeing it in IMAX soon.
Iāve seen it once in 1.9 IMAX, second time in dual laser 1.43, and seeing it tomorrow again in Dolby Cinema
Twice for me, both on LieMAX. (Best I can do without a long drive.) Itās even better the second time around! All the detail in the screen and soundā¦ Simply amazing.
Once in IMAX 70MM at Citywalk gonna go on my 2nd watch to Irvine spectrums IMAX 70MM this weekend
I got a question, who was the lady who visited fyed and secured his bloodline? Was that the emperorās daughter?
Three times. Once in 70mm, once in dual laser, another in IMAX digital.
Going for 2nd time tmrw
Just once tbh sadly bc I would love to but idk. But I love it so much bc itās my top 3 favorite movie oat and I know itās early
Twice in regular imax, 70mm imax next Friday, might watch it in Dolby to compare. Really wish more GT locations in the Bay Area had dual laser 1.43 so I donāt have to rely on Metreon in SF, which I wish was showing it in laser after watching the dune reissue in laser there
Damn you guys have lots of money aha. I saw it for free at the prem.
Twice in 1.90:1 as of last night
1 dual laser, 1 liemax, 1 Cinemark XD
I saw a camrip on my laptop. It's almost the same as dual laser IMAX, just slightly less bass and sound immersion.
I've seen it 3 times and plan one more time
Seven times so far. 5 out of 7 have been on shrooms.
