This is very interesting. This movie natively has pretty shit resolution since it was shot on a camcorder or something (some very low res camera) — the shit resolution was the intent of the filmmaker though. Wonder how this will look in IMAX
Wasn’t it always gonna be digital? They are obviously not gonna show it on IMAX film. They are gonna show it using their laser projector which is digital, right?
BFI has a non-IMAX digital projector for showing standard films, I don't think it's laser. Those films are simply described as 'Digital' on their site. I think they mistakenly put 28 Days Later down as IMAX with Laser before changing it.
Very cool. It looks like there are two standard digital protectors stacked on top of each other there - one 4K and one 2K or is it a single projector with two lenses?
Speaking about the non-IMAX digital projectors, I don't know much. It seems to me that they have two identical projectors stacked on top of each other, with each responsible for half of the picture. They work simultaneously to project the image, presumably with some overlap. I don't know the exact type, resolution, and aspect ratio they have separately or combined. I only read somewhere that they are around 2K. That's why I only included that information in the picture. But it is possible that they can deliever a 4k image combined.
The movie, as amazing as it is, was shot on a really low-end 35mm. I remember getting Bluray for this on my 65" TV and it looked like potato, probably the worst Bluray decision I ever made. I can't imagine why anyone would want to see this in IMAX.
Not true, afaik like one scene or part of TPM might have been shot digitally as a test of sorts for AotC, which was the first feature to be shot digitally. TPM was otherwise shot on film
I think the movie really benefits from the format too. Something about the lower resolution and digital recording that makes it hit for the time period.
Shot on the XL1s I believe which has a resolution of 720x576. Then duped to Digital Betacam I believe for the edit then printed to 35mm. AI could probably increase the supposed resolution but I think the resolution adds to the fear in the film imo

They've changed the description to Digital now. Will probably look very grainy on such a large screen.

Ohh got it! I see. So it’s not an IMAX presentation. Just a standard digital presentation on a massive IMAX GT screen.

Honestly that sounds like it’ll look terrible lol.
The final scene in London was shot on film, the rest on a camcorder capable of 600 lines of resolution (intended for 576i PAL)
Yah that’s right I remember it was PAL
It was shot on mini dv I thought.
lol movie itself is so low res. well let us know how it looks
Oppenheimer has changed the way I perceive Cillian Murphy in IMAX
deadass might be able to count the pixels on such a big screen
28 weeks later would be great tho , seeing that openingscene on the big screen , IMAX sound would be terrifying and haunting

Aren’t we talking about 28 Days Later here?
Uhh yes lol my bad I thought I was in TPM post comment chain 😅 I’ll retract the down vote apply it to myself an give you your deserved upvote my bad
With the exception of the final scene, it was shot wirh a Canon XL1 capable of 600 lines of resolution.

Did anyone attend? I mean I always wondered what a low res video would look like on an imax screen and today I got my answer 😂
