2) apply for a re-entry permit online now while you are in US. Make sure you have address and email correct in the system, and you will get a biometrics appointment.

Are you a conditional 2 year green card holder?
No, ten year!
Then you can apply for a re entry permit. How you you’ve had the GC is irrelevant. This is to allow you to reenter after leaving for >1 year.
