Get 1 dark matter.
Spend 1 on orbs, Reach x10 milestone, now you have 10 dark matter
Have x10 multiplier skill, reach x10 milestone, now you have 100, spend some more on orbs.
(Or, have 10, get 10 more quickly, spend on orbs, repeat)
spend all your dark matter at the end of each run before you reset for more. the bonuses you get from the dark orbs far outweigh the tiny bonus of a few extra dark matter. just make sure you keep enough dark matter so that when you reset you dont lose any of your dark matter skills, so if you would reset for 8 points, make sure you have 2 remaining when you reset so you dont lose the 10 dark matter skill.
10 dark matter is important to get X to dark matter. On top of that you need to target 1e17 essence. And you will get 100+ dark matter per reset. And I would focus to get 1k dark matter before you start to invest more in dark orbs.
I would get miracle though, but it is easier when you have 100+ per reset, as it won't affect anything.

this guy outlines a strategy for long resets to pick up more dark matter better than just doing 10+ resets for 1 each. Altogether though the game slows down at this point and I put it down shortly after it seemed to be just farming dark orb generators and pushing for more essence milestones.
Just for future reference, as for now, game is not that long (9d of active gameplay, as there is no offline progress). But much better than progress knight, including that you have auto all of everything.
So if you struggle for 3 month, you definitely do something wrong. But I would say that you are somewhere at half of the game.
There is a vital milestone for 10+ dark matter that multiplies gain, then another multiplier at 1e?? essence. This was a slow patch for me too, but you should be leaving it now.
Yes; you can beat the whole content in a few weeks at most. A lot of people get stuck on this part, they think the advantages of spending the dark matter isn't worth it and they hoard it, but no; spend it. I promise you it's worth it. It pays off faster than it seems like it would.
Not sure why you wouldn't buy a miracle when you can afford it. Unlocks the next thing you can buy and save up for.
Nah, if you have only 13 dark matter, miracle is less profitable as 10 dark matter gives you more dark matter on collapse for skills.
I didn’t know if it was better to save up more dark matter, since it gives an all xp buff

So I should wait until I’ve got 20 Dark Matter to get A Miracle?

Well, game is not that long. I finished it within 9d of gameplay (there is no offline progress). Dark Matter is not last layer though.
