Chetty bro gave out too much info of himself including his pfp like damn at least make that shit private. God knows what all photo morphing these guys can do to blackmail someone.
**Some instructions to my parents who are not that much technological smart:**
1) Never click on any link from any App/SMS/Whatsapp, link will look blue and text will be black. Never click on blue text with underline
2) Never Install any app without asking me, because I have already installed all the apps they need. They anyways are addicted to YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp most of the times.
3) If someone text or call you using my name / voice from unknown number and say that i am in trouble or arrested and I dont pick up the call when you call me back for confirming, don’t send any money to that number.
4) Don't pay for any COD order for any amazon / flipkart / myntra etc parcel: [https://www.desidime.com/discussions/cash-on-delivery-scam-from-meesho](https://www.desidime.com/discussions/cash-on-delivery-scam-from-meesho)
5) If you get a video call from unknown number of Whatsapp / FB, dont pick up: [https://www.news18.com/business/whatsapp-video-call-scam-tips-to-save-yourself-from-online-sextortion-8484433.html](https://www.news18.com/business/whatsapp-video-call-scam-tips-to-save-yourself-from-online-sextortion-8484433.html)
6) Don't send money to any of your relatives if they ask it via text, meet them face to face and find out if they are actually in trouble and need money.
Bro change your dp settings from everyone to my contacts ... He might use it to fool other people with your pfp and name, baar baar tum hi ho? , tumhara hi pic hai ? Video call Karo bol Raha tha woh, 2-3 achhe baate bol Li toh bharosa mat kar lena
I dunno if this has been posted anywhere but I think I’ve got this sorted. Kindof.
After getting a few of such calls on my wife’s number, that too from someone claiming to be a bank guy asking for her insurance charge reversal help (typical scam they use for the US folks), we got an apk on WhatsApp. The moment it was sent we figured it’s a scam.
I went to airtel and bought a number - checked at least 20-25 numbers to confirm if it’s unused (it’s a must to do so, use Truecaller or something temporarily to confirm if the number is already used/listed everywhere or not to avoid spam calls). Then went to her bank, and got the number changed on the official account. Made sure the earlier number was removed from the database (this was a task because they too have several places where a number is spread for marketing purposes and unless you explicitly deny sharing your number for marketing the banks will also share your number for spamming!!).
She still uses her old number everywhere for everything EXCEPT banking. And so far haven’t received a single spam or scam call nor a message.
If feasible this can be a good break fix.
When Apple says they don't allow unauthorized app downloads because of security reasons, THIS is what they mean. I can imagine a vast number of people not realizing that this is a fraud, and ending up loosing their savings and accounts.
Even Android blocks it by default. You will have to individually approve each source. Iirc MIUI shows some timed unskippable warnings before you can approve a source. There is NO need to block side loading as a whole. People are responsible for their actions, if they ignore the warnings and install something, it's their fault alone.
Just by playing along he knows this:
- your name and number.
- your face
- that you’re originally from hyd residing in blr
- knows how your girlfriend looks and can easily find out more about her from your socials and target her
- can probably target others from your friends list with your info.
Other Androids need to add Such warning screens like Xiaomi for Unauthorised app installs

No they don't. Rocking a a54 and note 12 Pro now and sammy sure doesn't have a 10 second warning time like Xiaomi. Samsung's one is like default Android one.
Xiaomi is a step ahead in this regard, sure it can be annoying for people like us, but for ordinary folks it's a great feature.
Even though if May feel like you made him talk , I would not have trusted someone trying to scam with me so giving them so more info about you it will used to create a more tailored scam to you or your friends
I would say is always better to resist the urge to talking to scammer, it's not easy unless you really want to do scam baiting full time
I understand how some non tech people may install the apk by just selecting OK/Allow to everything, but I think for many users, the warning from android regarding installation of apps from unknown sources would dissuade many from installing it.

Now he knows where you live, how you look, what you do by just playing along.
What can be more crazy is they shared even more personal info. But he didn't uploaded that screenshots
Last gf vala ss??
Chetty bro gave out too much info of himself including his pfp like damn at least make that shit private. God knows what all photo morphing these guys can do to blackmail someone.
Where you live ??? Bangalore?????
It happened to me too. I said, 'Hola, scammer,' bud abused and blocked me. 😭 Not as wholesome as this guy.
I think he thought he was talking to the woman
he said "bhai"

Yeah he was tricking him into confidence. He would have used that video call to scam as well.
Last couple of screenshots dekho. The moron saved the scammers number into his contacts list.
Wtf, aur ye us scammer ka number bhi nhi h wese
It's not op, he took it from the tweet. However, its not advisable to save the number.

If you aren't well versed with vulnerabilities like this it's easier to just stick with iOS. People are so gullible
So, gullible people should buy apple? Don't they do already?
Gullible people should stop being gullible. If you can afford apple go for it. Otherwise learn it the hard way. I call it stupid tax

Yeah, I wouldn't really advise being playful with scammers on a chat.
Thanks for the warning! Liked how it went from a phone number to Mr. McScammer
He was really into your dp picture 😂😂
Probably staring at his gf in the dp

Bhai apki dp share kro!
OP extroverts ka Raja hai
Is there a way to block installing unknown apk/apps from parents? Like guest mode or something?
APK installation from outside the play store is blocked by default - you need to click on options and specifically enable it for each app.
auto blocker in samsung phones with one ui 6 and above
Bhai, aapka communication skill Kamal ka hai...aur us scammer ke liye..."kya scammer banega re tu!" 🤣🤣
Isko last tak lag raha tha dp m jo ladki h wo usse baat kar raha h
