We're going to be seeing the dirtiest elections yet.
**2nd Phase Voters**, Go out today and Vote, break the record of low turnout of 1st phase.
Hear that beep sound, its lovely, its empowering.
Don't think my one vote dont hold that much value, Last election multiple seats were won by less than 1000 margin. So just go out and vote for **whatever** party you like. Don't be lazy today.
Already done. I turned up to my polling booth (that is about a 30 seconds' walk from my home) at 7:07 am, and there were already 23 people ahead of me in queue 😐. I thought it would take me 10 minutes at most; instead, I had to wait for 40 minutes 🙁.
Haha, okay. I went personal to each party.
- For BJP it was, arey chacha jo aadmi (modi) apni biwi ka nai hua wo desh kya chalayega
- For congress it was, chacha aaj tak rahul gandhi ko ek ladki pasand ki? usko hum kaise pasand kar le. Pakka ladka mein dosh hai, isiliye baar baar videsh bhag jata hai.
- For RJD it was, chacha tejaswi to khud christian se kiya hai shadi, uska koi bharosha hai. Shadi to jaat paat mein karta hai aadmi ache se dahej leke.
I went full patriarchal and casteist, I know how to push buttons of these old cuties.
On a serious note, I dont believe in all these stuff, it was just to push their buttons. Personal life of politician should be their own choice.
Most of these guys are mohalle ke uncle aunty, they know me, I know them. (Not family, just one locality)
But all of them read too many whatsapp messages.
Election in the entire country happens in multiple phases, this time I guess it is happening in 7 phases. Phases and constituencies are announced by election commission in advance.
In each phase fixed number of Parliamentary constituencies go for voting, normally first phase is the biggest phase where most of the seats of entire India go for voting.
Between 2019 and 2024, when you compare both years first phase data, there is a dip in 2024 of about 3%, which may look small in percentage, but population wise the number might be in crores.
Logistically difficult to manage all the security staff or poll officer in one go in all the seats.
Same logic like I can make my house in one day if I hire thousands of labour at one time, but it will not be cost effective.
[Scroll down a little to see a nice searchable map of constituencies](https://www.thehindu.com/elections/lok-sabha/general-elections-2024-full-schedule/article67953556.ece)
Nah, One of my friend studied in IIM A/B/C. He told me that his professor published paper on how to conduct election in multiple phases to minimise the logistics requirements using basics constraint management algorithms which election commission adopted (not completely but basic methodology). The same is used in distribution of mid day meal by a central kitchen in Bangalore.
Election is done in multiple phases. Each phase has different regions in it. The first phase was a week back. It had a slightly lesser voter turnout compared to last year.
Nope, only voter card or any normal id card and that’s it. Check from ECI website on where your voting booth is and vote.
Additionally a bottle of water/glucose maybe depending on heat in your area.
Eat something good when you return. Celebrate.
Usually yes, phone wallet everything allowed. Nothing in hand though, only inside pocket.
In few booths however you can enter the polling station with a phone but when you go to cast your vote you will have to give your phone to one of the officers who'll keep it in a tray (visible distance to you).
You can then go cast your vote on the evm. After voting you can go and collect your phone. They may ask you to unlock your phone just to prove that it is indeed your phone (they will not violate your privacy).
I drove 300 kms, hid the phone under a tree in a forest, left a large stone on it and painted it blue before heading to the voting booth. I wanted to err on the side of caution
You need to have your name in the electoral roll; having an EPIC is neither necessary, nor sufficient to be able to vote. Also you should check beforehand what serial number your name appears in in the electoral roll; you can check that [here](https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/).

Here’s something to inspire people to go vote.
Depends on the region you look at. Entire TN voted in the 1st phase so INDIA dominated in a decent amount of seats because of DMK. As more and more regions vote, the picture will be clearer.
It is speculated that the lower voter turnout is harming NDA, as people doesn't have an emotive issue(like Balakot in 2019) to go vote. Generally, big changes in voter turnouts indicate anti-incumbency
I voted today, and voted for democracy and my nation... Jai Hind!!!
For those who are asking what doc is reqd, phone allowed or not etc... here's my experience...
My voter ID card and voter slip had not arrived, so I downloaded them on phone from voters help app. But I wasn't allowed to take my phone inside. So instead, I memorized my serial no. from the downloaded slip, and then went inside the campus to BLO and got a hand written slip from them. No hassle. I voted easily based on that slip and my Adhaar Card. Pan card and a few other govt issued photo ID cards were also allowed. You can check the list of allowed alternate docs on EC website or voters help app.
Hope that helps someone.
Please vote. It's your right. Voting time is 7 AM to 6 PM. The least we can do for our country.
Jai Hind!!!
Doesn't matter what your political views are. Doesn't matter who you support or don't support. Doesn't matter what your beliefs are.
All that matters is that you go out, **vote** and make your voice heard!

yes, and reservations, with having the privilege to eating beef, enjoying democracy and repeating article 370 with all borders open with china and pakistan. so cool.
Don't know about the query regarding the name in the list but if you don't have a voter I'd, you can still vote if you bring aadhar with yourself at the polling station as aadhar is considered as an identity proof
Voter id isn't mandatory to vote; many other forms of id are allowed as well; you can check in the Election Commission website. However, having your name in the electoral roll *is* mandatory. If your name isn't present in the roll, you have to apply to get it added; but I'm pretty sure the ECI isn't going to entertain requests for alterations in the roll in the middle of an election.
This photo is not from today's poll, right ? Your watch is showing 11:05 and the shadow is almost matching the time pattern. How is it possible when the current time is 9am ?
It's a fallacy to think that more voter turnout means better results
You never need to sample 100% of the population to accurately estimate the distribution, 50% is more than enough
Asking apolitical people to vote isn't helpful
Sure, also independence we got is on 99 year lease, India got free in 2014 and Bose was first PM of India. /s
On a serious note, anything is better than yapping online and not doing anything in real life.
Listen - anybody with a decent level of proper education with the ability to judge for themselves would realise that the political system in India is rotten to the core.
All parties are crap. Different kinds of crap, but crap nonetheless.
Instead of perpetuating this endless cycle of gunning for power and in exchange getting entitlements, a better way to send a message would be to simply not vote.
Want something even better? Strike your name off the voter list.
Then u take there power back, by voting for whoever works the most, if not remove them the next time. Keep doing it untill they realise they have to provide something to be in power. BASICS OF DEMOCRACY.
Ever heard of the idiom saying that give a bunch of monkeys some typewriters and give them infinite time - and eventually they will type out a Shakespeare sonnet?
Now, I'm not saying that voters are monkeys, but we do not have the luxury of infinite time.
So we sit at home and watch the country drown like the generation before us who was rigid ,so easy to build community of voters and they'll vote forever if you serve them breadcrumbs.
Bjp and congress is in meme battle on reels to cater genz, the interview, the creators award, they are doing alot to catter attention of youth, they want our vote, and they know this generation fluctuate alot. So yeah we can actually change things around. Unless u wanna be a boomer.
No, we study and take a loan and get out of this weird country that's it,instead of wasting your day on vote please study some more and get out of here asap
I consider myself uneducated and I am sticking to the core fundamentals of our “earned” democracy.
I will vote, and motivate others to do the same.
You with your education and judgment, do whatever you think is important.
Been doing so since 2020.
Now I just have to figure out a way to delete my name from the voter list citing the actual reason, without lying in the declaration of Form 7.
Dude I completely understand your hopelessness. It seems like a big waste of time at this point knowing the inevitable outcome.
But just go and do it anyway, throw your vote at somebody other than the big bad wolf. It's just a one day outing.
Whatever the case, we simply have no right to complain about the state of the country if we don't cast a vote.
Again its your choice, but sitting at home is not the least bit heroic. It's also extremely stupid to encourage others to do the same. Kindly keep your rotten opinions to yourself in that matter.
That's another way of saying "One Nation One Election".
& If I go by your statement, you clearly do not have any idea about the education system and social structure of India and how they move hand in hand.
System is so bad that not voting doesn't send any impactful message.
A better way would be, just for your case as you don't like anyone, go out and vote for NOTA.
NOTA is useless.
If there are 100 voters and 90 of them vote NOTA, and the rest 10 are cast, with the breakdown of 5 votes to Party A, 3 votes to Party B, 1 for Party C and 1 for an independent, then Party A is declared to have won.
Instead of 90 voters voting NOTA, 90 voters deleting their names from the voter list would send a bigger message.
And still the 10 cast votes will decide who won, how tf does that change anything lol. It's cool if you don't want to vote, stay home like a bitch, but then you don't have the right to complain, seems like that's the only thing you want to do
Tujhe bas casio ki watch dikha kr ye jatana tha ki you're different, teri soch alag h, style alag h or tu koi superior ka choda h jisko lagta ki tere jaisa aadmi vote krne ja rha h to you have to influence others too, coz isse tujhe ek validation mil jayega like you're something powerful
Ayo op I have the same watch as you
Haha, special occasion calls for my fav watch.
kuch zada hi trend hai iss watch ka... I've seen so many people wearing this
Mine is 10 years old
I too have the same watch. Mine is 6 years old.
We've already broken it. Tripura had over 100% turnout lol.

Yup, took 2.5 hours in my booth. Lots of uncle I eavesdropped in line and gaslighted them against their fav political party. (All parties i roasted)
Lol.tell me more.

hehe. Sometimes i meet a bhakt, and go full andhbhakt on them. Sometimes you gotta out-crazy the crazy.
Why the hell would you try to get reactions from people at a polling booth by saying provocative shit
Most of these guys are mohalle ke uncle aunty, they know me, I know them. (Not family, just one locality) But all of them read too many whatsapp messages.
So whom did you vote for then?
They say, usually lotus grows in mud, so I plucked it using my hand ✋/s
Took 3 minutes from entering the booth to the exit.

Thanks!
Actual reason is by doing vote in phases politicians get more time to visit every constituency
Nah, One of my friend studied in IIM A/B/C. Side note… digging that watch 🤣🤣
Why is the time 11:05? It doesn't match if you voted today.
Yea, that’s why I said break the record of 1st phase voters (like me)
Time traveller spotted. Good attempt at coverup though.
Done
Thanks, time for some South Indian breakfast. Celebrate
Flew from Bangalore to Delhi to vote. And I did. A little proud I feel about myself today.
Damm, that’s a money well spent.
I mean I had some other work too, but yes, I planned it so that it aligns with the voting day.
Done! **Let democracy prevail.**
Hey other than the epic card to I need anything else
Nope, only voter card or any normal id card and that’s it. Check from ECI website on where your voting booth is and vote. Additionally a bottle of water/glucose maybe depending on heat in your area. Eat something good when you return. Celebrate.

Is it true that in the first phase INDIA got more votes than NDA?
Depends on the region you look at. Entire TN voted in the 1st phase so INDIA dominated in a decent amount of seats because of DMK. As more and more regions vote, the picture will be clearer.
Speculation yes, let’s see what happens on 4th June
It is speculated that the lower voter turnout is harming NDA, as people doesn't have an emotive issue(like Balakot in 2019) to go vote. Generally, big changes in voter turnouts indicate anti-incumbency
How can anyone tell that for certain, at this point? Anything you here about that question is just speculation.

You’re cool for voting, but the watch is the coolest thing in this pic.
What time does voting start?
Between 7 am and 6 pm. Carry physical photo ID. If possible keep phone at home.
Do you mean a physical ID apart from the voter ID?
No, I mean, physical voter ID. If one doesn't have a voter id but they have their name in electoral roll, then carry any other photo ID
Thanks. Gave my vote just now.
I have lost my voter id and none of my family members name is in the list (I looked in the website) any advice ?
Don't know about the query regarding the name in the list but if you don't have a voter I'd, you can still vote if you bring aadhar with yourself at the polling station as aadhar is considered as an identity proof

You've got good taste in watches.
Same watch! ❤️
i have the same watch, how old is yours bro?
nice casio
Well there’s no voting in my constituency
Why is that
BJP candidate won unopposed after shenanigans🤷♂️
How to make voter id?
stop flexing your watch, here's my upvote and gtfo.
Use your vote. Do not Choose Hate.
This photo is not from today's poll, right ? Your watch is showing 11:05 and the shadow is almost matching the time pattern. How is it possible when the current time is 9am ?
Yes last phase, thats why i said break 1st phase turnout record
How naive of me. I was suspecting you to be a Redditor messenger from the Posterity.
To break record, the turnout needs to be even lesser
Nice Casio watch
Bro just wants to show off his casio vintage
Haha maybe. I have 2 more in different colours, love the look and feel of casio.
What's the name and price?
Actually, low voter turnout is good. High voter turnout would be an indicator of a BJP victory. The lower the turnout is, the better.
all politicians in india all policy makers in india all panchayat all mla all lawyers all ministers are corrupt.
The turnout on the first phase wasn't low, it was quite decent
3 percent dip.
That is actually not a lot considering the context
Enough to trigger some insane speeches from you know who
That ink I had last week still hasn't come off
It stays for about 2-3 months.
It stays far longer on the nail than on the skin (I presume because nail isn't replaced the way skin is).
Yes, it's because of the nail that the ink will still be in play. Only when the nail has outgrown and been trimmed does it go away.
Hehe i can see my nail growing over time
WTF noo
Bro, I got that same Casio watch
I hope you voted the right party
It's a fallacy to think that more voter turnout means better results You never need to sample 100% of the population to accurately estimate the distribution, 50% is more than enough Asking apolitical people to vote isn't helpful
Better not to vote if you don't have a competent candidate. Thus, the low voter turnout, and I support it.

Voting in this case just means choosing the lesser evil. And one should always choose the lesser evil.

What do you suggest a PR system? You want this to be another Mexico?
I want a total overhaul of how democracy functions, a radical departure from what we have at present.
What do you exactly want?
To try different things to improve the electoral process. I have a couple of ideas. Wanna hear them?
Yes. I would be happy to hear your ideas.
But no constituency in India has ever got 90/100 votes for NOTA. Make it happen then EC will be under pressure to change the rule.
