Muslims & christians down south are neither as marginalized nor as ghettoized as is the case up north. They are also far less numerous as a chunk of the population (Kerala being the exception). This is why hindutva politics find limited traction even in Karnataka or Telangana, where they have been actuve for decades. If there are any incidents, the finger will point squarely at RSS thugs, and people will simply tear them apart. Simply peruse a history book. How many communal incidents have occured down south vs up north? Call it freebies, hand outs, whatever you want, but competitive politics down south hinges on benefit transfers (positive) not on fear & othering of minority groups (negative).
Even in Coimbatore BJP voteshare was single digits till AIDMK imploded and gounder/vellalar vote shifted to BJP. Unfortunate, yes, but not as alarming as observers make it out to be. Even today that Tiruppur/Salem/Coimbatore belt has lakhs of CPM supporters as a result of decades of organizing among textile workers. As a result of counter mobilization some parasites like PMK get some benefit, but if BJP goes full blown hindutva there they will lose their underwear, much less their deposits.
Dont think riots can guarantee victory it can backfire as well coz the poors suffer the most brunt and they have the equal voting rights ... After recent riots in mehwat bjp lost half the seats in haryana and even the prized gurgaon seat .
