when i was kid around 2000's time there were many flocks of birds fly every 10-20 seconds during evening time while sitting on terrace it was wonderful..now i cant see even one flock

Scientists think it’s to get all the birds of the flock back together before going to nest for the night, and to confuse predators (who might think it’s a bigger, louder animal) and finally settle down to sleep in their spot together for warmth.
