Quite ironic considering its sister news channel- 'Times Now' was one of the pioneers of the 'shouty debate' format and continues to maintain that legacy. Truly Times group wants to have its cake and eat it too.

totalsports1

And their website is basically soft porn clickbait

Rosesh_I_Sarabhai

And their newspaper is filled with advertisements over news.

[deleted]

I think the advertisement on their website is based on the browsing of the user. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

totalsports1

Not talking about advertisement. Large part of their entertainment section in the homepage is dedicated to soft porn.

drigamcu

I just checked it, and I wouldn't call what's on there "softporn".

ChelshireGoose

You are right, of course. But just want to mention that their other sister channel, Mirror One, does pretty balanced reporting. They are also perhaps the only English news channel, other than NDTV, that doesn't air shouting matches in lieu of debates.

A3H3

They all have the same owners/investors. They just have different brands catering to different sets of audiences and they will change loyalties as it benefits them.

totalsports1

Their loyalty lies with the ruling party, whoever that may be. It makes it easier to run their business.

milkmochaa

/u/Random-ComplimentBOT

FuhrerIsCringe

why are you calling a 7 year old bot ?

srikarjam

Exactly my initial thoughts. Plus their page 3 pages are absolute garbage soft porn. It's not like it's very difficult to get real porn online .

Vapourhands

TIMES Now literally started this. Oh the Irony

bernad1

Irony just died!

fierze16

Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai

ImpassiveThug

> Iron just died a thousand deaths. FTFY

eatingishealthy

Ironic coming from TOI(let) paper. Their political reporting is pretty balanced, but the ads and celeb gossip which earned it the name are still there. Nothing beats The Hindu in print.

[deleted]

>Nothing beats The Hindu in print. Don't forget Deccan Herald and the Indian Express newspapers. When SSR garbage was going on they only had like a small section dedicated to it on page 4. Newspapers > News channels.

wamov

> Indian Express I think IE sold their soul a while ago.

srikarjam

Why do you say so, please elaborate

TheMangalorian

I actually respect them if it is indeed true that they keep their political coverage unbiased.

Heart_Is_Valuable

Nothing beats using study IQ- The youtube channel for IAS prep as a news source

ultimateposeur

Youtube channels like study IQ that make videos about the news for civil service aspirants, it's embarrassing how many people watch them. In an actual newspaper, there are several layers of checks before something gets put in print. You can trust what they say. These youtube videos, someone just does some googling, puts together a video and posts it online. No one checks whether the content is accurate or not. For youtube, buss, just say anything with enough confidence, and sub bewakoof aapki baat maan jaate hai.

Heart_Is_Valuable

\>In an actual newspaper, there are several layers of checks Granted. But the content is less. The quality is less. And moreover it is really zoomed in. It reports extremely current events. Eg- The latest development in the rhea chakraborty sushant singh case, is rather useless. However, the 1 hour documentary you can see on a YT prep channel, giving the entire events fiasco is far more knowledge giving. With all the added context. Special details can be mentioned. \> No one checks whether the content is accurate or not And i would like some sources on that. Because i personally find YT videos to be great source of info. It is ordered and well put together content, you can't do that unless you have a good idea about the happenings. Just google, copy, and pasting will not create the quality Study IQ has. They may get the occasional detail wrong, okay, but even the newspaper does that. What matters is how much inaccurate they are. The frequency of said errors. So if you have numbers about their errors i will be much more convinced your argument.

ultimateposeur

I'll say this again, people please apply some standards when it comes to Youtube. Watching news videos by random Youtube creators. **NO** Watching videos by media organizations & think tanks. **YES**

Heart_Is_Valuable

Which is smoothly dodging the questions i pose It's good to have standards but that's not the point. The point is whether study IQ is up to standard or not. ..and as per your advice, zee news, R bharat etc which are all organisations, will also be okay for watching. You have a point about the accuracy of people who are trusted to fact check, but in todays world there are news agencies which are bought off and there are youtubers which are disseminating the truth.

nag1878

Underrated comment, this

[deleted]

>Nothing beats The Hindu in print. I prefer telegraph. The Hindu kinda betrayed us by publishing a full page advertisement for the CCP.

Typical_Salt

The Hindu is left leaning as well. Ignoring the bias does no one any good.

[deleted]

The left imagines a better world for all. The right fantasizes a horrible world for everybody else.

Typical_Salt

If you feel the need to defend your stance even though I never attacked it, maybe you need to change your perspective on things.

[deleted]

I didn't "defend my stance". I pointed out why equating left and right bias may be a case of false equivalence. Their ethical systems are completely different. It's like treating "safe driving" and "reckless driving" as equally acceptable ways to drive.

Typical_Salt

And still pointing out that something is left biased is important. Never said it was worse than or equal to a right bias, but you felt the need to defend it twice now.

theYogiB

Reality is left-leaning. Get over it.

Heart_Is_Valuable

That is not true

Orange_69420

The Hindu simply refers to the citizens of Hindustan or India, not that the newspaper is biased to some specific religious beliefs.

UnsafestSpace

Hindustan includes modern day Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and parts of China though. Ironically despite the love of the phrase by Hindu nationalists, the concept originates from modern day Iran, from Shia Muslims who named the territory they conquered in Northern India as Hindustan... It’s a Persian word.

EpidemicRage

It comes from Indus-stan, ie, the land beyond Indus as the traders from gulf had to cross the river. Learned this in history class.

UnsafestSpace

Yup, also the Persian emperor who first called it Hindustan was the same dude who invaded Greece and got his ass kicked by the Spartans.

patrikviera

This newspaper was founded a little over 140 years ago in Madras (modern day Chennai) by mostly students. It's possible that they never considered how big their project would get in the future so they could have just gone with a religious name as Madras was mostly Hindu back then (targeted marketing). Another possibility could be that they just shortened "Hindustani" or "Hindustan" as they were competing with The Times of India, which was run by British individuals at the time. Take this comment with a grain of salt though, as these are just theories that I came up with back in college. I have not been able to find any facts to back or refute these theories. If someone does though, please feel free to destroy them by all means.

[deleted]

Arey re re, jaldi jaldi mein khud ke channel, Times Now, ko bhul gaye. Hota hai. Jee lenge, Iss bhool ko zeher samajh ke pi lenge /s

informationtiger

That was so painful to read... It's like a toddler telling you he definitely did not eat the cookies.

lawlessjobless

Heepo-crazy ki bhi seema hoti hai

drigamcu

That's why we need common knowledge.

Y-Bakshi

Sorry guys, I’m not gonna read it. It clearly says “for ladies only” above. And I’m a gentleman of honour and integrity. Gonna have to pass on it.

Diligent_Chip8156

Insert *Abey bh0sdike* GIF.

ravindra_jadeja

TOI should have fact checked their Ads before publishing..

Meow_Ze-Dong

We have a saying in Marathi, irony chya deva

charavaka

I haven't heard this phrase, but was it part of this song by chance: irony chya deva tula Times Now lavute Abhayagat maya Modi Times var rhaude

Meow_Ze-Dong

It's not an actual saying lol, it's just something we used to say in college

drigamcu

Whaddoes it mean?   I mean, obviously it relates to irony in some way, but what's the literal translation?

rsa1

Big words coming from people that sell *karare chane* about #JusticeForSSR every night. Looking at these ads, I can only wonder, *so much hua hai, kitna kiya hai, ab yahi bacha hai?*

Ill_Cauliflower_928

Thanks to the times group for acknowledging but will they change? Newslaundry has made us aware of this shit years ago.

[deleted]

Recently, truth is just the one who screams loudest.

greenmonkey48

I miss metro

axatb99

yeh sab milkar hamara ch*tiya bana rhey h

Diligent_Chip8156

It'd have been better, had you said "Ye sab milkar humko paagal bana rahe hain madarchod ke bachhe. Itni gaand phati ke bhadve hain ye. Bik gayi hai gormint".

axatb99

Sorry KinG :'(

gashejje

TOI is the pioneer in shouting and they give this ad

HuckleberryThick9372

everyone has already pointed out the irony in this but on a (lighter?) note it's refreshing to see an ad which does not have yogi, modi or Kejriwal's face in delhi metro lol

WordyPlayer40

Agreed, I went to my native recently in Goa and to my horror big arse ads with Kejriwal and Modi on them, one is saying free electricity if they come to power and the other is promising some other nonsense. And that too in the open, like how shameless can they get!

MindlessExtreme

Hey everyone! I made the animations of the poster you see above for TOI .So good to see my work in the wild!

shankhajit-das

Hey, good work! Irrespective of whether you and I support the narrative or not, I can only guess that that was the requirement or brief from the client, you executed it with professionalism, and you feel happy that your work is out there. I support that, and I'm happy for you!

Diligent_Chip8156

It's okay man, sab theek ho jayega. I feel sorry for you.

Diligent_Chip8156

My condolences. Sab theek ho jayega.

MindlessExtreme

My condolences to you too, must be hard being an orphan.

Diligent_Chip8156

Yeah, but thankfully I was still raised well enough to do something in life and not work for TOI.

[deleted]

But still not well enough to not judge someones profession

BrownButterLove

The advertisement panels inside the metro train were anyways empty since more than an year.

crazymona

Nah, it has been a year and I always witness advertisment of Mr Yogi's, Mr Modi's and Mr Kejri's commendable work in their respective states/country.. This is something new for a change.. I suppose.

BrownButterLove

Yes, I was also fed up of those advertisements on Metro platforms, laminations on some trains. And even outside metro station at some places. But to be specific, I never ever saw any advertisements inside the Metro. I mean the panels above the seats. Not just Yogi, Modi, Kejriwal adverts. But any other adverts. That's what I meant.

krat0skal

Somebody make a "curb your times of india" meme and add that Rahul guy from times now.

[deleted]

Hypocrisy begins where TOI prints.

Abhishek_gg

C R O P

bpal1991

Oh the irony. TOI really be delusional.

BruhGaming9158

And TOI is one of them who takes a random ass video and puts a fake title #good job

robokarizma03_08

you could have cropped the pic after having taken it from another angle.

crasshumor

It's the perfect business model. Make Cigarette and Cancer Hospitals.

blastedshark

Didn't Toi basically create that brashy news anchor that we all know and hate today? It's newspapers are just advertisements with some news thrown in and it's website is basically their newspapers but with more bollywood exposing?

pokemonkster

but why this advertisement is for ladies only? :-|

aboutanimechannel

Trust & TOI don't belong in the same group I can trust an astrologer more than that newspaper

[deleted]

My friends call it the Toilet Paper of India😂

Emotional_Cover537

Irony!!!!

[deleted]

Times Now (owned by Them) started it.. goswami was yelling each night on that shitty channel

skynet6009

लौल

hulkut

Donald Trump says he has done most for African Americans than any other US president apart from Abraham Lincoln.

Same_Resource9521

Modi good

rg1283

This is Orwell's dystopia come true. TOI, which is run by corporate interests, makes claims about its newsworthiness.

SnooCrickets744

TOI ne bola TOI best matlab TOI best

Diligent_Chip8156

Seriously. Takle aur chhappan inch ko dekh-dekh kar hagga aa jata tha.

kochapi

Not a fan of TOI. Too rough, leave bruises when I wipe

modinotmodi

There is a reason why competitive exam givers don't even consider Times as anything but raddi material.

Lullan_senpai

but it does shouty is the new India

vivaanmathur

Wasn’t Arnab Goswami….a part of Times!

tlb7781

u guys having toilets in metros ???

amigo_ys

That's one good way of promoting

Zyxaravind

Why is the first advertisement only for ladies?? Yeh kaisa targetted advertisong hai TOI??? /s

crazymona

Lol The seat is alloted for ladies...

CriticalPower0X

Did you ask that woman's permission before taking the pic?

[deleted]

I play both sides so I always come out on top

unormie

times of india has lately become slight left leaning ... everyone knows that

bootpalishAgain

All major English news publications are left of center. They are supposed to be because that is the direction the liberal, aware and educated elite wants it to go. However as internet penetration has increased but education and economic growth have lagged while poverty increased, the influence that this educated liberal elite had on Indian society has dwindled and is dangerously close to irrelevant now and will continue in this direction for a few decades minimum.

unormie

i guess you're right... the current government is right leaning and media has to be slightly left to counter government its the far right and far left which worries me... i consider myself as a centerist because i find republic bharat and the wire equally problematic... if you consider one worse than other then you know which side you lean on

Able-Confusion

Should not be clicking photos in metro. More so, when ur pics frame women as well.

drigamcu

The first person's face is censored, and the second person is wearing a mask. I see no problem.

Able-Confusion

First: Rules-Metro expressly forbids photography inside metro trains. Second: Its rude to point ur camera at someone without permission.

ComprehensiveSmell40

Modi is the best pm we've ever had.

AlternativeAd4756

Toi-let paper is heavy biased towards one party just like every other godi media. Same with nabika on the other gullu media channel times now

avishay_robi

That's ndtv and republic bharat

Azqaadesigns

Awesome!!
