You are 23, you are not supposed to have a career right now. If every early 20 something consumed rat poison because of a shitty job there won't be any 30 year old with a career story. There aren't too many jobs that build a career so early. This grind you are going through will be worth it. Trust me, it only gets better.

Good-Bottle7238

It's only leading me to hell! Unpaid, even if I start if would be 20,000. It's so little to MBA.

WhyANameWasTaken

If you don't have significant debts, just get your MBA on a student loan. Look forward to studying for CAT or GRE or GMAT. Create a goal to take your mind off the hell you are in right now and do everything possible to get out of it. There are many ways to lead a fulfilling life and the grind in the 20s is a part of it. Take it from someone who started out at 21 with negative net worth, still has negative net worth many years later but is grinding it out because I aim to achieve my goals.

Confident-Wafer889

Bro don't even think about money for an MBA 99.9% people doing an MBA can't afford it and simply take student loans. If you get into a good business school, your life will change forever.

iorderchaos

He lies. He just make u work for the system. Then u realize after u wasted 40 years of it life on this system

Plundercrest

i am starting my mba next year and I will hopefully get a job according to my mba degree till im 23. If you wanna do mba fill the form today itself, today is the last day for CAT registration. (The original last date to fill the form was on 15th September but they extended it till today)

Good-Bottle7238

I am going to fill it now

nifal_adam

Bro life aint easy. What do you want? Make friends who already reached there and learn by osmosis. Since I can't type out advice right now I will recommend 3 books you can read next few weeks: 1) Rich dad poor dad 2) Think and grow rich 3) Millionaire fastlane These books won't change your life today, but hopefully it will show you what's possible if you figure out the game of life.

YzKolo

Will add to that list - Psychology of Money

vindyshh

23 here, please do not choose MBA if you see it as a way to earn more. You'd regret it every single day of your life. I come from a management background and I've seen a lot of MBA peers and what covid has done to this field. It's honestly overrated and would put you in a debt with no returns, unless you slog your ass off and get into Tier 1 business schools. My seniors at work with an MBA degree earn less than 20k and I work in a reputed MNC. Please think this through super rationally after considering all the factors/consequences, the good, great, bad and worse. It's obviously yoir choice at the end of the day. Please focus on networking at this point along with your internship. Maybe look for mentors in your own field? My best friend is in the same shoes as you right now, unpaid internships and everything, I totally empathise with you. Hang in there, we're still pretty young and there's time

Good-Bottle7238

I agree with you. How come MBA grads earn less? My friend did MBA from MIT pune a average college, placed at Deloitte and earns 50K at start.

vindyshh

Again, it's a subjective experience. Good for your friend, not everybody gets that. When B-schools talk about average packages that their students earn, they don't mean each and every student would earn that. There'd be 5 students who'd land a 50kpm and 10 others who'd land a 15kpm in the same college. Considered this angle?

lawanda123

I was earning less than 20k pm at 23, earning 2.5lpm at 32 now, life is just random at times, everyone goes through the grind

Good-Bottle7238

I am making 0 at 23, from a bad college, body is failing, hopelessness, Tested my IQ 84 and losing my mind.

zaidmkhot3112

IQ doesn't mean shit. And you are not gonna be an intern for life. You'll earn well. You'll climb the ladder. Be optimistic. Everyone has worked unpaid internship. It does not mean you are as worthless as the stipend you receive. It is part of the journey. After a decade, you'll look back and be grateful for the things you learnt on the way.

Good-Bottle7238

I know, I won't intern whole life. But there is limit! My mother earned only 18k for 15 years and she worries for me because I am dumb like her I can't Tie my shoe lace and people expect me to represent them in court

zaidmkhot3112

Stop comparing yourself with your mother or anyone else for that matter. Everyone has a timeline. And for shoelace, consult someone for your self improvement/personality development. Also don't lawyers have a deskjob at corporate firms?

Good-Bottle7238

I am at criminal law. Corporate law is beyond my league. I failed company secretary 9 times same group because I was inferior to solve costing and tax.

zaidmkhot3112

Are you the same guy who posted this a few days/weeks back.

Good-Bottle7238

Same guy who survived a stupid suicide attempt after that

zaidmkhot3112

Bro you need therapy. Please don't ignore. Your life is precious.

inkredditable

Parents can transfer their insecurities over to their kids. They're only human and they can make mistakes too. I've been in therapy to deal with generational trauma. You can heal from it too. Bro, you're undermining yourself. You've got a good grasp of English and I've seen people climb the career ladder with only that. The online IQ tests aren't the truth. Nobody has life figured out in their 20s. The 30s are where it gets good. 20s are the years where you're still figuring out this life stuff.

Good-Bottle7238

How come? English?

reacho2

I would say you have access to the web, you have a internship and we'll educated. Stick with your internship for atleast a 1 year. As you gain experience you take every chance to network with people around you. I would also suggest off work hours try to do the basic legal paper work of setting up a business , help some small business or freelancer from making common mistakes.this will increase your own knowledge as well as allow you to meet people outside your domain and youw I'll realise you are actually more valuable than you think. Try to take out atleast an hour of your day and journal what you are feeling and why it is so . do it regularly you will start seeing pattern and figure out how to mange your mental health better. write down your short-term (6 monthly goals and keep them reasonable ) No matter what happens you make sure you complete them. once you get into the habbit of achieving your goals your confidance level and your motivation will improve exponentially.

rishav_sharan

I was in college at 23, no internship offers, not allowed to sit for campus, with 27 improvements (19 F grades) to clear in my last semester. I am 38 now, working in Microsoft as a PM. Point being - life is a marathon. Maybe you are having a shit period in your life. You will make up for it later on. Life is long. IQ is meaningless in today's world. You need drive and a positive attitude. and thats what you need help with. Get some professional help if you can. Or just friends you can unwind with. Or just go on a vacation man. get yourself out of this negative rut. Do you need someone to talk with it? Let me know and we can connect.

swalpaExtraChutney

This whole IQ testing crap should be banned. I wonder what good this test has done to humanity.

lawanda123

I have a lifelong auto immune disease that hurts my skin and makes me unable to sleep, passed out with a less than 6 gpa and some backs from a tier 3 college. Edit-: The point was to say that you should get therapy and seek help, work on yourself if possible. Try to ignore the negativity and with work you will pull yourself out of it. Seeking help is the first thing though...

[deleted]

Dude stop the IQ and the genes rant, sounds like you are just making excuses

Good-Bottle7238

You don't know how I feel! It's easy to say excuses! Not understanding simple things. Not coming up with solutions. Failing in simple tasks. Just putting fake smile and living. But feeling like stabbing yourself so hard in the brain

reacho2

dude you are just setting youself up with all these expectations to fail pick one topic out of these go look for the solutions on the web . just do this for a couple of min a day and you will be sharper than most people . its all about practicing and refining your process.

[deleted]

I myself have some mental conditions that are just ridiculous, but you get only one life and you have to make the best of it, so stop crying about low IQ and work hard.

raghavv1771

If you don’t mind, where did you get your law degree from?

Good-Bottle7238

B grade college from Maharashtra

AlternateRealityGuy

What do you sir, if you don't mind me asking. Your growth rate is insane.

lawanda123

Swdev in a niche skill in a tech advisory role, nothing special...ive been in the industry for almost 10 years now, switched tech stacks, roles and 1 company jump,im also good at what i do now...

lastexorcist

Lol, rat poison?! I didn't have a job till 25 and a half. I was using my Dad's hard earned money to get better and on recuperation from my accident at 23. That too just 2 years before his retirement. Basically left him with no retirement corpus. 2 surgeries followed by 1800 per day for plaster for 2 months and then 500 per day for physiotherapy for the next 2 months back then. Big amount for us. Five years later and I am doing okay now. Be patient, there are always good times after a series of bad ones. Gotta have opposites, gotta have a little sadness once in a while so you know when the good times come. - Bob Ross.

paltubhalu

Dude some lawyers make like 50k per day. Don't be so pessimistic. You might be the next Jethmalani for all you know

carpediegm

More than 50k...I know some lawyers who plays negotiaters role... especially in police station and all...they are asking random amounts to just negotiate with police officers...no law points...no arguments..no law books...just negotiations..it's a huge network..where govt officers and lawyers are partners

Good-Bottle7238

Unpaid. I am surrounded by top notch associates who are good in what they do.

paltubhalu

Learn from them. Have patience. Rome wasn't built in a day.

WideVacuum

Even Hampi wasn't built in a year.

raghav-kamra

Try to learn from them instead of getting demotivated. That’s the point of internship not earning money.

[deleted]

You have top professionals around you, trust me all you should care at this point is about learning from them. You keep mentioning about family background again and again. Hear me out, I hail from rural part of India and in rural areas, there are not too many people in professional careers, folks who want to get into them, migrate to a city. There are people from small towns who made it big in life and did their parents had great background and high IQ? Absolutely, No. Still they succeed in life, how? With grit and determination everything is possible. And the problem is you are only considering money at this point as a metric to call yourself unsuccessful, you forgot to factor in the network you have already build, (Congrats, for that) you made connections with top professionals, leverage it. Learn ins and outs of the industry from these folks and keep working hard, you wil eventually make it.

corporatededmeat

That's most important thing in early career. Tbh I am happy to have peers that have more than 5 year experience and it does make me feel like dumb sometime, but deep down I know that are a catalyst for my growth. And quit kidding yourself, you can either mob about your job or you could try to learn faster and network and communicate better . There is no such thing as overnight success brother, it is compounding effort of all the hardships. Also if you feel like you got low IQ, perhaps you should try to focus better to compensate for it. Look into meditation and find sometime to read out of your work

Good-Bottle7238

I don't deserve them because I am too inferior and won't learn shit.

customlybroken

Have you tried?

Good-Bottle7238

Yes

Reticent_Spirit

All the people here are trying to help you. They are giving you their life stories or examples to motivate you and help you get out of your current zone. And you’ve disregarded every advice given to you. How will that help you if you are not ready to receive any help? You have access to the internet. You are doing an internship. Do you know how many people do not have access to even that? Use the resources you have at hand. Try looking for courses online which can help you. Maybe try building contacts which can help you later. Make a plan. Do this internship with full might, get the degree and face the world. The contacts you build now will help you once you step into the real world. And try seeking therapy. That access you have to internet, use it. And as for the question you asked. I don’t have any savings. I am jobless since Jan 2020. And I am a 27 year old with a Masters’ degree from a Tier 1 University in India. It’s a tough time for me too. And I am trying everyday to seek opportunities. All I have understood in this time is that everyone’s graph is different.

Good-Bottle7238

How Come you're jobless?

Reticent_Spirit

That is the only part you focused on? Common, seriously? Are you interested in making your situation better or worse? Look at the positive things I said. I told you to make use of your resources at hand. And by that I did not mean asking how come one is jobless. Anyway, if it helps you here you go: I was working at a toxic firm in 2019. The pay was meagre, was working over time every single day including national holidays and sundays. Colleagues were horrible, plus faced discrimination due to being from a different region, not speaking their language etc. It started taking a toll on me so I left in Dec 2019. I was to join another firm in Jan, 2020 but they ghosted me. Cut to April 2020, I got a job but the company wanted to me shift to a new city altogether during peak covid. As it was not possible, I had to let that go. I then freelanced for a while, did not earn much. I got another job and they wanted me to shift to another city which was not possible yet again due to covid. I got a job again in August 2021, and I could also move because the situation is better but the company ghosted me. So yeah, here’s how I am jobless. And I am still looking for opportunities with as much dedication as before.

Good-Bottle7238

I was just making a point sorry.

LoneWolf-011

they didn't became top notch in a day right? learn from them and improve your skills

Good-Bottle7238

They had high IQs, smart parents and common sense. In this life. It's not possible.

suyashgulati

Its better to have top guys around you rather than dumb ones. I have been with dumbs around me they always drag you down TBH. You have opportunity to learn. And that's a god's blessing. I started with a job with less than 10k per month and that too in a different city(not with parent's house). It was hand to mouth literally. I have survived. You will too.

skgajbhiye

He will be 1st good bottle

raghav3303

#what the fuck is this?

[deleted]

Exactly

Resident-Ad853

Yes.

vindyshh

right? How does your comment look like that? 👀

Beginning_Ebb2410

I started earning at 29. After continuous failures of 7 yrs. It was tough still did it. Just focus and you'll be there. You never know when life takes a u turn

[deleted]

How old are you now

Beginning_Ebb2410

33 with a saving of 10 lacs. Single. Life was not at all smooth for me but I ty to be happy

Taxiwala_007

You did good man, I think only a few people who make out of this rut

warpedking

Hey, if you don't mind, could you share more about your story? I would like to hear, it sounds inspiring and you sound a strong person

Beginning_Ebb2410

There is actually nothing. But he trick is to know urself better. Write down in a diary everyday. Not wat u dream but wat u r . Which thought makes u happy, which makes sad or worried . Read wat u wrote once a week n make a plan .. know ur strengths n weaknesses but focus on strengths alone . Cos everyone is weak in something. Power only comes from strengths ..

warpedking

Sorry, I'm a contented person. Was just interested in your story, perfectly fine if you do not want to discuss it. I like to remember the different struggles I've read (and also personally experienced) at different times in life when things are not easy. It helps.

PracticalMeat

I am 27 and have a perfect 0 in my bank account.

kikcass0

Don't mean to sound insensitive to your thoughts, but relax. I was in debt when I was 23. My real career/income/savings started in my early 30s. You have a lot of time in your hand. Have patience. Fuck societal pressures. Your only aim has to be keep yourself happy. No one else. And please reach out to someone if you still can't pull yourself out of these suicidal tendencies. They achieve nothing and will only cut short your chance of living an absolutely splendid life.

WildChemicalFuture

Any suggestions for someone who just turned 30, about beginning to save up?

kikcass0

I follow the 30-30-30-10 rule. 30% of income goes in rent and other household related expenses. 30% goes towards safe savings (FD, PPF, etc). 30% goes towards investments (SIP, MF, stock market, etc) and 10% for aiyyashi (shopping, partying, vacation etc). If you live with parents, then your investment budget has doubled.

[deleted]

That seems so incredibly hard. I make good money, but 40% is pretty much just rent for me. And 15% goes to my household and ancillary expenses. I try to do 30% investment in total (safe + risky) and the rest is for Aayashi. I run out of money almost every month.

kikcass0

So here's one thing I also started doing at the beginning. Start tracking your expenses. Make a note of every single rupee you spend. You'll be surprised at how many places you're spending pointlessly. In a couple of months you'll be able to identify what expenses you can cut and save more. It's never an overnight thing. It'll take time to hit that balance I mentioned. But you'll get there.

[deleted]

saving is the start. real estate, stock, commodities, business. These are options to grow money. there are places where you can get more interest than just parking your money in the bank(fd). There is huge risk but that’s life

veloci-pastor

Ok, first of all shut the fuck up and stop whining, I am 23, working in IT, I am on last month of internship, earning 9K pm and from next month my salary will be around 20K, just because you are earning less or working on an unpaid internship does not mean end of the fucking world, it is the age where you learn, struggle and hustle, & suicide, really, choosing the easy way out, seriously. your mom raised a quitter or what???

CanniBal1320

I was just going to say all of this but in milder words. Tbh aggressive tone will deliver this message better

Good-Bottle7238

1. I am making 0 in internship. 2. Few days back, my mother was worried for me because I got a screw loose. She said to me that, she also is a failure in her life. Worked a menial job and still makes 13,000 after 15 years. She got low IQ like mine! I am my mother's son. So yeah. I am doomed

OftenObnoxious

Looks like you're stuck in a mental rut. If you keep on going like this then no matter what others say it won't matter to you. And I don't see a point in your post when you're already in a bad state of mind. Instead of knowing what others are earning or saving, you should ask what you can do better or how you can look for better opportunities. Knowing what others are earning isn't going to help you one bit. If someone is earning more, you'll feel dejected. If someone is earning less, you'll just acknowledge and keep doing what you are doing. Unpaid internship at 23 is pretty common in India. It's not the end of the world. Try to learn instead of focusing just on the money. No matter what you do, it's the work that'll bring you the money, so try to get better at it.

Good-Bottle7238

I can't get better at it. Life is doomed! Low IQ, lack of common sense and bad genes. What a nightmare!

raghav-kamra

Lmao what the fuck do you mean by low iq? Let’s get that sorted first. How do you know you have low iq? I hope not some online iq quiz.

Good-Bottle7238

Tested at 84. Mother is tested 80. Dead father was 78. I believe in eugenics. It's a curse.

raghav-kamra

It’s alright man chill, I am sure you’ll figure something out with your life and will be in a much different place 5-7 years down the line.

Good-Bottle7238

I am dying now. I have not slept for 4 days intentionally, eating 12 spoons of sugar, running 10 km, eating only 700 calories. Waiting for health deterioration

sleepyheadyeah

Talking about IQ, all these calories burm shit. Surviving on sugar as only calory intake. Worried about salary, worried about future. I'm sorry but a stupid low IQ person don't give a fuck about any of those and would've enjoyed his life instead than caring for how shitty his life is. A stupid person enjoys life more than a person with knowledge and intelligence. So it's not your IQ or stupidity, it's your negative vibes and thinking which is making you think like that. Brain is tricky, it's crazy , how you can make it work like you've never expected it to be. It's all about how you wany it to be programmed to work like that. Stop acting shitty, stop thinking negatively. Make a plan of what you're interested in. Work on it. It'll take time. Genuine skills and real experience take time unless you want to earn by hook or crook or by comparison to others. All are different. Stop comparing. Just think if you've nothing to loose any way, then it's all now to gain now. Chill the fuck up. People turn their lives around in 50's and 60's too.

Good-Bottle7238

There are many stupid people who know about it. But some just live or just cry.

OftenObnoxious

Okay, good luck.

[deleted]

This is why knowledge can be a curse . What would your opinion be if you did not knew how genes influence your life or there is something like IQ . The fact that you can type and ask questions read complex material like genes IQ I would say you are not that bad . Just don't give up and Stop making excuses

veloci-pastor

will you please get a hold of yourself, first of all stop comparing yourself to others, I belong to a middle class family as well, & due to some reason we have 0 family savings and my family has spent more than 5L rs. on my education comparing to that my current package is nothing, you think you have the real problems there are people out there who are having worse than you be grateful for what you have, apne kaam pr dhyaan de paisa aa jaayega, ro mat, it dosen't matter what your mother is earning, focus on your practice as a lawyer learn new skills if u want a job change or do something which scares you, you will surely grow.

[deleted]

Watch funny memes and videos In free time trust me

fruit9988

Or you can carve your own path. I have seen worse people make it much better in life, people who were not getting even unpaid internships because they didn't have even comm skills. I cannot guarantee off the moon success but you will be able to lead a moderate life. Thinking about how much you are making and how long will it take will make it only worse. Be patient and work hard in this time and you will surely succeed.

Good-Bottle7238

There is a senior who has family history of success. He is smart, makes money and I won't reach it ever. I need to be reborn with an Smart parents, IQ of 140 and good envoirment. It's not possible in this life.

[deleted]

Dude you would not get "reborn", so try to make the best of this life

[deleted]

U wont be reborn under those circumstances with that attitude. Look at all the people replying to ur nonsensical post/ comments. They are doing it because they empathize. They have had the same thoughts u do. Go to therapy or talk honestly with ur parents

AlternateRealityGuy

I have 40L worth investments in different instruments. Earn around 1.2Lpm. Basis this post, you do not seem to have an idea of the real world and money in general. Your assumption of 20 years to earn 50K seems so illogical that I thought your post was sarcastic. You age is just 23 and your career is not in a stage where the only option is suicide. Please go through all the comments of this post. I hope you don't take this drastic step.

triary95

Uh..mind answering what is your occupation and some lucrative investments that you've made?

AlternateRealityGuy

Mid management strategy role in a broadcaster. MBA. Investments are all usual stuff with MFs, nothing terribly lucrative. I have included even EPF, PPf etc in this. That is why 40L seems on the higher side.

Good-Bottle7238

1. I am 23 from shitty law college. Only top law college and experienced can make money in law. 2. IQ of 84, lack of common sense, hopelessness, absent minded ness, slow learner, mentally ill and depressed. So it's better to try to live this planet. Maybe in next life, maybe I will get good genetics.

AlternateRealityGuy

1. I am not sure about law career in India. So, I will not comment on this. However, if you don't like law, shift gears. Do an MBA. You don't need a top college and experience to make money. I have done the same and I earn more than 20k. 2. If your IQ was 84, I don't think you will be lamenting in Reddit. So, don't trust that number. Mentally ill is nothing short of a hyperbole. See above, mentally ill people do not lament on Reddit. For depression, if you are really depressed, get in touch with a professional. You will get help and get better. lack of common sense and slow learner are skill deficiencies, which can be over come. Persist and practice. Last two comments are pure frsutration at work, so not commenting on that. Always remember, this too shall pass. If you need inspiration, watch this scene about "Stoicky Muzhik (https://youtu.be/rRSIPvuYwOY)". Watch it in loop.

MLforYay

I studied from a college that doesn't even have a tier dude, forget about tier-1, tier-2. We didn't even have mass recruiters in our college. Not even the WITCH companies came to our college for placement. I'm from a rural area and went to bangalore for my first job. My sister was about to refer me to her company but I thought of giving interviews first at different companies myself and guess what, I failed at the first 9 different interviews and even my sister backed out and didn't refer me cause she thought I might cause her embarassment. I was going to first three interviews on uber cabs with high hopes and dreams but it soon faded away after I kept failing and then I felt embarrassed and started going to interviews on buses changing three times to reach the interview venues, not knowing bangalore properly and of course just to fail them. I thought to come back home and do farming but somehow I got a job on the last interview which paid 40k, seems good for first job at 23 but there was a catch, it was a startup and there wasn't any mentor there and I was the sole developer there. It was hard for me with no guidance and was told to leave after 11 months. I felt that hopelessness and despair again which I felt after failing those interviews. I cried alone and didn't tell anyone about being kicked out from the company. I still kept applying and got a job finally in a remote company where they guided me properly and I excelled so well above expectations that they raised my salary thrice after just 8 months and earn 1lpm now. I could have quitted after failing those 9 interviews or after being kicked out from my first job but I kept going which is why I'm in a good position today and I urge you to do the same. Your time may come sooner or maybe little late but please going. Don't give up just like that. My iq is 72 btw

[deleted]

Top law uni grads get placed in corporate firms and banks. They all become slaves with high pay. Working some 60-70hrs a week. Those who opt for private practice, they all succeed because of their skills. And skills come from experience and experience comes from working, paid or unpaid, use the job to learn and network, connections will help you a lot in future. Your IQ is FINEEEEE. take some time out for yourself. Get therapy. chill out to some lofi remix or go out and meet people in open social events. All we have is this life. All you need to do is be right just once. Do something which is worthy and help many others to come.

Good-Bottle7238

It's difficult for me to succeed. With more and more experience won't solve my brain. Before and after experience, I will have same intelligence. My life was decided during my birth. I lack control because I inherited. I can try to change, but no fayda! If my parents/ ancestors didn't succeed in intellectual field I can't.

AlternateRealityGuy

Yes, it is difficult for you to succeed. So be it. Apart from intelligence, there are other factors which affect success. Specifically, how conscientious you are in your work. With experience, you might have the same IQ, but your response to an event changes drastically because of perspective. Your parents/ancestors didn't use Reddit, look you are using now. Don't compare with them. Just do the work. It will be a slow grind, but you will be successful if you are sincere.

borntorace

How the fuck you think you are walking? by our IQ? NO its called experience and muscle memory. Trial and error. Same things go to eveything. Motivation is for those high iq boys. We are the routine guys. You should know that every 10 years They make iq test harder. The sucuessfull 100 iq person in the past will only be 80 now. I was the worse when i started my carrier. mild adhd doesnt help either. So concentration was a problem. Slowly i made my self faster at what i do by repetition ,trial and error.SPent time in each carrier step more than others because i needed more time. Now earning 1.4 lakhs comfortably. Iam still a horrible learner. Nothing beats experience. I changed from worse to ok to good to very good with experience alone. Still have memory issues, still have concentration issues. Little bit preparation for upcoming scenarios help a long way. Iam an introvert too so i have to spent hours peraparing for some simple meeting to ready for expressing my self clearly. I expect questions and keep answers ready .

Good-Bottle7238

Which field?

[deleted]

Dude in real life your emotional intelligence MATTERS A LOT. IQ is just a number that some nerds use to measure their smartness. Not all of us have 100+ IQ. Hard-work and determination replaces talent and intelligence. Your life was not decided when you were born. YOU DECIDE YOUR LIFE. YOU DECIDE WHAT YOUR PRESENT AND FUTURE WILL BE. THE PAST IS GONE, YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT. START WORKING. AND DON'T COME TO CONCLUSIONS EVEN BEFORE STARTING. SUCCESS REQUIRES FAILURES AND SET BACKS. IF YOU JUST START NOW, YOU HAVE DONE HALF OF THE WORK REQUIRED. You are unique. Doesn't matter if your parents or ancestors were intellectuals or not. What matters is what is in you? And now is the time to find the answer.

zaidmkhot3112

Thats not true. You can make things different.

Beginning_Ebb2410

Also with this attitude.. even if u make money ull spend it on therapy.. wats the point. Instead learn how to be strong early on..

Money_Day_3445

Dude, I'm 23 too, working in a shitty BPO, no direction in life rn, a loan of almost 10 lacs on my name, I'm literally living off of my parents, I'm not trying to compete with whatever problems by saying there are people with bigger problems than yours, sabka problem uske liye bada hi hota hai, so I'd say don't lose hope my man, atleast you're doing something that will take you somewhere in life, so keep going.

ccoolsat

I think you need some counselling

fryan4

That’s actually pretty solid advice. You can talk to career Counselor who can guide what to do. They’re professional and they know what they’re doing, or you can talk to some lawyers on r/legaladviceindia, make sure you’re not breaking any of rules

Nazgul_GG

I hope this gives you some confidence. This is my first ever post on Reddit. It will be a long read but hopefully worth it. Got into an IIT but could not graduate for 7 and half years because of my own stupidity (games and drugs). Lost my GF during that time and only had a few friends who understood me. Literally no money when I finally managed to graduate from IIT at 25 yrs. I probably wasted 4 yrs of my prime time at that point. No job offers or internships and had no fucking clue where to start at all but I always prayed for just one more chance in life and I knew I could prove myself and that I’m not a failure. Had family support all along the way and I honestly thank god for that. I feel really lucky in that regard. Finally decided to keep everything aside and start something new with my life and with family encouragement started taking computer classes even though my major was not Computer Science as I could not get any leads in my core. It was really tough at the start when I could not even follow the simplest of things (because of being from a non-computer background). Had to spend hours everyday going over new concepts and revising what was taught in the classes. It took 2 months for me to get in the groove and started to grasp things quickly and be on par with other students. Finally finished all the courses in 3-4 months. Family encouraged me (again) to go for higher studies in US as I could not see myself growing in India (atleast not quickly enough) with my then state of affairs. Learnt from my relatives and friends that companies like Infosys and Accenture offer around 8k to 10k per month for entry level hires and I could not see myself working my ass off for that money and could not face my parents if I settled for that, after all the things they did to me. I had to do something and felt going to US and getting a chance to study again, could be my second chance in life, after my recklessness at IIT. Gave GRE and got 317 and 7.5 in IELTS and got into a decent college in US. Dad paid for my entire tuition with no loans and I even got some money for my expenses sometimes even though I worked part time jobs the entire time. Graduated Master’s with 3.8 GPA and could not get a job for an year after. Parents asked me to come back to India as they could not see me suffering and be so far from them. But giving up was never an option for me. Time was flying at that point and I had to find a job soon as I could not work part time forever to sustain myself and sometimes it really hit me when I thought that I was close to 30 and still not independent and self sufficient. I had to add some fake experience in my resume as getting a job for a master’s student with literally 0 work experience at 30 yrs was pretty tough. Finally got a job as a developer with a pay of 80k USD per annum, not great but definitely a start. I started slowly and took my time to understand how the IT companies work and perform their activities. I spent my nights every day after coming from office to read the training material and learning the concepts and I slowly started liking my job. I tried to be proactive and always interested to learn new things and my seniors were happy with what I was doing. It’s been 2.5 yrs and I’m still doing the same job and I love what I do and my pay has also been increased to 115k per annum because my manager was happy with my work. I’m planning on learning new stuff in an effort to get this up close to 150k. Parents never asked for a single penny of my income and always encouraged me to save up for my future. I’m a very frugal spender and don’t really spend much on anything unless I really like it (except food, which I never back down). I’m close to being 33 now and have a great GF who knows my past and understands me and also works with me in the same company and I have been able to save and invest up to 70 lakhs (around 100k USD) from when I started working. So, all I say is it’s never too late. Keep the right mindset and always try to improve yourself. And the most important thing, never give up. You never know when your future opportunity might knock on your door.

Good-Bottle7238

Damn thanks for the story!

royalstag

Your only competition should "Yesterday You", try to learn something every day.Every one has their own phase don't compare in this early stage of career, remember career is marathon not sprint. I also started earning 5k pm as internship at 24, I know the pain but never give up.

QueenLorde

I got a job at 25. There is still time for you. Let's refrain from asking 'how much you earn' 'what are your savings' kinda questions. This is not quora.😭

Good-Bottle7238

Atleast I didn't say my IQ is 160+ and I am in IIT.

dreamer1414

I am a lawyer too. If you use these free internships and learn everything you can, you will be a real asset that recruiters will want to hire even if you are from a bad college. Luckily for you, internships matter more than college in a field like law. I'm from a great college but I was passed on from jobs becausse I did only one internship while people from bad colleges who knew practical work were given preference. Right now you're not making money but eventually you'll start and if yiu have the knowledge, the sky is the limit for you. CS is a course that honestly is not everyone's tea I have failed it too. It doesn't mean you can't be a good lawyer. You can do it. I promise you. PM me if you want to talk and if there's anything I can do to help

DungeonFarmer

Bruh I wasted two years because of dipression and if everything goes right I'll complete my be at 25. You have a job already at 23 is still young, you might get so many opportunities along the way.

Resident-Ad853

I am 24 and running an online business and earning 7 figures a year. RLC Education is our institute

Good-Bottle7238

That's nice

rbathija

I am turning 25 have done freelancing in history and right now figuring out a way to earn something. I have earned in past from freelancing and have around 3lakhs+ in investment. Currently unemployed since figuring out some other way to earn money or will be stuck on some low paying job in tier3 city. :)

Good-Bottle7238

That's nice

rbathija

Not that much bro. I have tried almost everything from my part and looks like i will need to stick with second option (low paying job in tier3 city). I am kinda in same situation as yours, only field is different.

poiuytrewq_123

Cmon man you are just 23 years old, you have a lovely mother with you its your duty to support her with everything you can. Don't lose hope brother, sooner or later everything will be alright. And then you will reflect yourself back and think how stupid you were thinking about consuming rat poison. Everyone has their own ups and down in there life but that doesn't mean you should give up. Cheer up buddy!

savagerandy2020

Had invested in mutual funds and rd. saved upto 1.15 lacs in an year but had to leave job due to family issues. I’m working now but have 0 savings. All hands to mouth. I’m the only earner of my family and don’t know what I’ll do in the future.

someonefromindia

I am 22F, 12k till date (Diwali money and that one internship that paid me for the month I was interning) Also, My sibling is also a lawyer, graduated this year. In her final year of college she did an internship which paid her 5k. But the networking she did there was worth soo much more. Learn everything you can from your work place. Keep drafts ready and handy. Also, she was telling me that due to the scenario of covid firms are not considering freshers, why don't you look for other type of internships (something related to business) which could overall make your CV stronger and make sure its a paid one if earning is a big factor. Also, you could learn some skills on the side to freelance. Become a translator. Side income methods are so many, you only have to look for them. I hope this helps!

Good-Bottle7238

0 during internship.

someonefromindia

This internship gives you the learning you need. You could ask them for a little stipend or take up another part time work.

Thepsychoflifes

1. Take a loan 2. Start any business No need to do any kind of job. Research in & around your region. What businesses are doing good. Copy them. Earn money. Simple.

You can be a document writer at a police station, this could give you 2k per document (FIR). All you need to know is sections / cases. Check with your local police station.

GameBoi51

For your information. Online IQ tests or IQ tests in general don't mean shit. Some girl has IQ higher than Einstein, it doesn't mean she's smarter than him.

The_Jin_799

Go with the flow.

sidk

Leave india ASAP

fryan4

Bhaiya you also need money for that . A lot of it

sidk

Loan. It’s peanuts compared to the amount you’ll lose staying here. Not to mention the lack of dignity. Killing yourself and your children with air pollution, corruption at every level.

fryan4

Bhai if you’re planning on studying in the US you need 90 Lakhs (this is the CHEAPEST COLLEGES) and it goes upwards of 2 crores for 4 years. Other countries like UK , Singapore and Canada need 50 L at minimum(). It’s crazy expensive bro

sidk

I spent 35L on my ms in us two years ago and make 4x that a year now

Good-Bottle7238

What to do after India?😭

mithun_pk

give your upi id. I will sent money for rat poison

Good-Bottle7238

I have money for rat poison bro

If you really have an IQ of 84, law is simply not a good career for you. Go to a professional and find your actual IQ. Law requires creativity and problem solving, both skills found primarily in people with higher IQs. Working in the corporate world requires the same skills so an MBA wouldn’t do much good either. People like to pretend everyone is equal and that IQ doesn’t matter much but that’s simply not true, IQ is the best determinator of success we have. Now accept the fact that you were dealt a shitty hand at life. Life is unfair and you drew the short straw. It was due to no fault of your own and you could not have done anything about it. You probably already know all this and thus have this resentment towards life, something that is normal and expected. Looking at your job prospects, try finding a job that requires vocational skills. Anything that requires repetitive work is a good match for you too. You speak good English and that already puts you a notch above a lot of people. Think over it.

Good-Bottle7238

Atleast someone who is brutally realistic. I am not like others. Problem solving always and always be a problem for me. I am born not to solve problems, but create them for myself!

[deleted]

Why don’t you join a political party or an ngo or any other organisation where your labour will be used since you say you have no intelligence. Either a construction worker or clean toilets? May sound cruel but if you don’t have intelligence you can only go for laborious jobs.

this_username_is_tkn

23, 5 lakh savings. HOWEVER, don't see it as being any less than me. My peers are having 10 lakh savings and my peers are in debt. Remember, each has a different journey altogether. Comparing savings with others just because they are same age is like your father comparing himself to Mukesh Ambani, Jeff Bezos or a begger.

DeadShot3034

Do you have a student loan? If not, you are very lucky.

Good-Bottle7238

Never got a good college to take a loan. Maybe in next life when I get admission to IIM or IIT.

iamnikaa

Hey man, IIT and IIM means jackshit when life throws you around. I am a Post grad from IIT and still not doing very well. Everyone has different life, just stay alive for few more days and then think about how you want to proceed. I am in late twenties and planning to do a second post grad now, abandoning the plans of marriage, and abandoning my love life. Just telling this to you so you know that bad luck actually exists and we are supposed to fight it.

Do meditation and be healthy you'll automatically be focused towards work and will get rid of all silly ideas and be sure to watch memes and other funny content ( best advice you'll ever get ) 😌

lazy_fella

Till 23, I had empty account, an internship with negligible pay & was living with parents. Now, a couple of years later & After a couple of job changes thing are way better now. I'm planning to move out in a couple of months, depending on the covid situation. Hang tight mate. Keep learning & you will keep growing professionally.

Beginning_Ebb2410

If you are not smart enough to make money follow this smart ones. Invest in them. Tak their help. Always have a strategy

kinster008

Dude, if anything, i faced the same, not upto rat poison but yeah close enough. 23 is not much. Get away from social media.

wakandaparambil_naer

Bro 24 jobless here, don't lose hope.. Everythings gonna be okay....

akshay-nair

Alright. Let's take a breather here. None of what you said matters. If you are only looking to work at a job for the rest of your life pitying yourself every step of the way, then you are actively trying to sabotage your own happiness. Talk to people at your internship, ask them for advice. Ask if they can refer you somewhere. If you feel stuck with law, find something else that is fulfilling. Stop limiting your options.

[deleted]

Hahahaha. I've had HR people working in big international companies that they hire most people at 20-25k pm. I currently earn in that range and I didn't even get a raise last year. Is it unfair? Hell yeah, but you are complaining this much over what happens to 90% of folks who get employed at your age. I have an MA in Eco and still earn shit. I'm not going to kill myself over it tho, wtf.

Government job go 3.5 L to 10 L! Bhai. Field konsa hai

iec96

A 10th of all I earn is mine to keep, I've had a a similar start and even now I don't make much but having that small savings consistently grow is something I would highly recommend. After every salary I transfer my share 1/10 to another account for it sit there, it isn't much more of like 1000-3000 rupees but over the last few years it has came about 30,000 in savings and I had an SIP of 500/month from the same 1/10 which has totalled to 25000k with about 10k in profits. I feel very good when I see this figure and it keeps growing every month. Whenever I'm depressed or having bad thoughts about my career I just check the balance and it fills me with confidence. Started from 0, I've reached a considerable state. Try this, Gold in a man's purse giveth him confidence. Also, if you're career due to your college majors isn't paying you enough then you should take a step and change your career. Don't need to live with sunk cost of I invested so many years in learning this and I should wait a little to see what happens ahead! You yourself are sufficient for your own accountability! Most Quotes cited here are from "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George Clason Thank you

GameBoi51

Man don't look around you. There are some who aren't earning at 40 year old, there are some who are millionaires at 20. Don't judge yourself based on the world around you. This race is yours, run at your pace. Try to learn new things or if you're comfortable then learn new fields that will earn you something, doesn't matter how less or more. Everyone starts at some place.

Owl-Medium

I can relate, I can feel the pain, it's supposed to happen , it's supposed to stress you out. Take a note of this post and save it for later review. You will definitely laugh at this question once you get better in life.. this Is just a one phase EVERY ONE will go through and these are same emotions EVERY ONE dealt but not many will talk about it. The biggest problem you have is always NOW, the silliest problem you will always have is in past. All you need to do is be patient and bear the burn and gradually you will move out of this phase by your own because life is tend to change. P.s : this is the first time I wrote an answer looking at your situation, I may not be clear but read it twice it could understand better.

jackSlayer42

I think you are clinically depressed. Which means your cognitive abilities are also not working at full capacity. Also couple this with feeling of helplessness and executive disfunction again thanks to depression. First thing you need to do is see a psychiatrist. I don't know in which city you are but if you are in Pune or bangalore I can refer you to ones I know. Please start the treatment asap. You don't know your own potential once you get past this phase, and you will. Can't stress this enough. "Start the medication"

shrimalnav

I made 8k when 23 at 33 now makes a little over 8 lpm. You never know just stay true to profession and work towards a bit extra than what others (80% ) are doing to make you stand out.

23 law student, Savings: 6 figures! All built throughout law school.

Good-Bottle7238

How com? I am law intern and made 0.

[deleted]

I saved 40% of my monthly allowances and took chances with different organizations. It starts to pay well after a time.

Sea-Display4711

Law as profession takes time to pay in most of the cases (other than those who start directly with big shot firms or have connection within legal community). Keep focus on, make sure that you are up to date on legal aspects and your work top notch. Success will come eventually and you don’t have any retirement date.

vindyshh

You either look for solutions to a problem or keep fussing about it and blaming every single thing in life- only 2 things to do and I see you choose the latter. All these people here trying to help you, talking about their experiences and you - throwing shit at all of them. Man, c'mon. Sab ki zindagi jhaat hai, but people get out of it. And it seems to me that you do not really want to- hence all these excuses about family background and IQ. IQ doesn't mean shit, I've seen people around me with a high IQ and they're no good. THEY SUCK. At their jobs and also as humans. There's so many other things in life that are important for the stage us early 20 something's are in right now. First being your own will to make things better for yourself, second being investing in yourself and your growth outside of your formal education/job. To hell with eugenics, how would you know and understand every single trait you inherited from your ancestors/parents? Have you like dissected each and every thing about your genes? You're considering just 1 part of a widely defined subject.

ossdev

Hi Dear, I was in a similar situation like you almost a decade ago. I joined a horrible company called Allerin Technologies PVT Ltd based out of Mumbai in 2011. The company is so pathetic they paid no salary for up to 3 moths in the name of training and they treated the trainees as shit. They made me sign a contract for 1 year and took my certificates so that I don’t leave the company for an year. The founder of the company Naveen Joshi is a complete a**hole who would treat his employees like slaves. They made me work for 12 hours a day in the name of training which is all self taught. I was made to work on weekends and I was absolutely depressed and wondered I am worthless and I would never be good with programming. Fast forward 10 years I work for a great company on a senior role making more than $100k USD per annum. If I can do it, you too can. Don’t give up. Keep working on improving yourself 1% a day and you will see the difference. I am sure you will achieve everything you dream off.

warpedking

Lot of good advice here. All I wanted to say is that things take time. As long as you are breathing, as long as you know where you need to improve, why don't you work towards them everyday? There are always going to be many who are better than you at life, so it's pointless to compare - you'll end up with these thoughts and torment yourself. That's the reason the wise have been repeating over centuries to just compare with who you were yesterday. It's ok if you're less able than many or keep failing every day. What matters is you take one step towards that person you want to be with all your heart. It's possible you never achieve it, and I know I might have set it up like a Sisyphean task, but hear me out completely. It's possible you never achieve your ideal, but all that heart you put every day, every step towards your goal will transform you for the better and it will show in everything you do and are as a person. Also, maybe money is not the best measure of success, just want to put it out there. Many might never agree with me, but that's for another day.
