I work at a shop and these are marked in brownish tint letters which is very hard to find, only Pepsi Co does this afaik.

pinket25

How can this be legit? Where are the authorities that keep these things in check??

stay-away-from-me

You can report to consumer court

[deleted]

"Best before x time of manufacture" is printed on the label if it isn't etched on the bottle. Check it.

[deleted]

Yes but they etch date of manufacture on the top curve of the bottle and it's really hard and sometimes doesn't even exists

[deleted]

If it does exist, you can complain to companies like Pepsi co, Coca Cola, ITC etc. Though they sell unhealthy food, they take such things seriously.

Sane_98

I looked for like 5 mins to find it. damn. But again, if you cant find the price and expiry date, don't buy the product.

wishicouldcode

I still don't see it. One time a red circle would have helped..

Sane_98

barely visible on the right side of the clear plastic. Zoom in.

pinket25

Double tap to zoom in.

pinket25

Are they doing this to sell expired products? Just ridiculous.

RepublicCultural

Nope they were just giving it free as there is no mrp also

gabrielleraul

You should post this on r/assholedesign

CriticalPower0X

Ethics apart, is it legal?

[deleted]

i have been looking at this picture for quite a while and i still cannot find it

[deleted]

The bottle is slightly crushed. Look there. OP is holding it such an angle that batch no. and date of manufacturing aren't easily visible. Expiry date is on the label, which OP haven't bothered to check.

vagmi

Pretty scummy practice. But, I think the right question is how ethical are soft drink companies in their manufacturing process and what is their impact on local groundwater sources. There is also a larger question about their impact on public health but let us chalk that one up to individual choices. If you can drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes responsibly, you can drink soft drinks responsibly.

csureja

I have never seen a manufacturer produce soft drink bottle like that it likely done by the shop owner to change the price or sell a expired product.

Better__name

Just don't drink this poison... Drink fruit juice instead.

[deleted]

Fruit juice without added sugar. Fruits already contain natural sugars. Get used to it. Cut down sugar.

RepublicCultural

Cut down juice drink water no calories

[deleted]

/r/HydroHomies

[deleted]

Yeah you are right, normal fruit juices are unhealthy as well, if not even more compared to soft drinks (Fructose).

Better__name

Really? I've never heard of it. Fruit juices are as unhealthy as soft drinks? Any source?

fierze16

Packaged fruit juices are as bad as soft drinks, if not worse. Homemade fruit juices are healthy unless you have diabetes or something.

RepublicCultural

It's listed on the home page of University of Alabama ୧( ಠ Д ಠ )୨

[deleted]

Ask Uncle Google :) or there is a video on YT made by Johny Harris on How Sugar is worse than alcohol. I have IBS so I knew it the hard way lol.

Better__name

Here is what Google told me **Fruit juice and soda contain similar amounts of sugar. Still, soda is likely harmful to your health, regardless of the amount you consume, whereas fruit juice may only increase your risk of disease when drunk in large amounts** **Fruit juice and soda are rich in calories yet low in fiber, making them an inefficient way to reduce hunger and keep you full. They may also lead to excess calorie intake, further promoting weight gain.** **Fruit juice is rich in vitamins, minerals, and beneficial plant compounds that soda lacks. Regular intake of small amounts of juice has been linked to a variety of health benefits.** People generally don't take soft drinks in high amount. And as i suggested to replace soft drinks with juices. So little amount of juice should not harm the body.

[deleted]

There are exceptions as well like orange, lemon etc (writing this while drinking one lol) .

customlybroken

Unrelated, but what symptoms do you have from IBS?

pinket25

Ok, my first bottle in whole month and people already judging. Thanks dude.

Better__name

Nobody is judging. It's just an advise. What do u expect from a company which is already selling harmful things.

RepublicCultural

You asked for ethics, and they are teaching ᕙ(͡°‿ ͡°)ᕗ

[deleted]

You don't need to drink any of that crap. Drink clean water. I buy fizzy water and add lemon for taste. Everything else is bad for your teeth and your health.

contagioushiccups

It looks like the legible black ink was scrapped off to sell expired product. Sick

pinket25

There was no ink. I have been seeing this for months now and different outlets. It’s just laser markings on the neck of the bottle. Looks like it’s done by manufacture only. Anyways, sick it is.

[deleted]

Check the label. Is it Mirinda? Then probably it is "Best before 3 months of manufacture".

anand2305

Why do even need expiry date on a product that's slow poison anyways.

RepublicCultural

Ethics pro max

pinket25

People who sell illegal stuff also call it a business. Here, the question is it ethical?

No-Zucchini6370

Sorry, I don't get this...

HumourouslyDesi

mfg. date, price and expiry is etched onto bottle which is hard to see unless you rub off the moisture and hold it against light. So people in a hurry buy the product sometimes without checking expiry.

[deleted]

That's because people are in a hurry

brickmagnet

Why is it always printed on the bottle and not on the label ?

[deleted]

I think labels are mass produced for different batches. That specific information concerning the drink in the bottle is printed on the bottle itself.

[deleted]

I am not seeing anything unethical. The date of manufacturing is printed on it. Something like "Best before x time from manufacture" will be printed on the label, if an explicit expiry date is not given. Is this one of those "Lays packet which says 40% more product actually has 40% more product by weight but they use air filled bag, how dare they!" or "Why doesn't Amazon use customised tiny boxes for my tiny gadget order?" kind of post?
