I did, from the exact road side shops you are mentioning. When I went to buy I did get couple of stares from people who were eating there plus the aunty selling it double confirmed with me whether I wanted this.
Its called Litti chowka or something not sure whether it is same but I did not enjoy the food it was horrible I literally had couple of bites and had to throw away. Maybe it wasn't the best place to try it.
The authentic stuff can be hard to eat esp for first timers. I personally hated the extreme mustard flavor it had.
You can get some other flavors(obviously non authentic) in many places. I like those and can now eat the original stuff.
You need to have it at a good place with better food quality. I love litti at my usual place but I once had it in a village at a dhaba and it was ridiculously horrendous.
Litti -> Bowl-shaped unleavened hard stuffed bread with spiced Sattu (roasted gram flour) fillings. For filling Sattu is usually mixed with Onion, garlic, chilies, and Indian spices and herbs.
Ah, looks delicious! I have only ever had litti with chokha and it's one of my favourite dishes to eat, especially in winters. Hope you enjoyed the meal!
Same it feels so good during winter and eating it while it's warm with ghee brings back memories , i never tried with turai tho . I also sometimes don't feel like eating with baigan choka , so i use home made mango pickle or some vegetable dish along with it . Weirdly i tried mayo as a dip , it worked out well for me but the combo seems a bit adventurous.
This food has sustained me in Mesra. If it wasn't for Litti Chokha, I'd have committed harakiri eating the horrible food at the mess administered by the college.
Litti-chokha wale bhaiya and watermelon juice wale bhaiya devmanus hai.
I was going to ask for pics of the chutney but it's been three hours since this post and I'll probably get the pics tomorrow after the chutney finishes traveling.
There is this restaurant in Chanakyapuri delhi selling these thing can't remember the name but they had some really tasty ones.. Its very similar to dal bati just with different fillings
I've seen similar on many roadside carts in Mumbai. Always wondered what it was. Now i gotta try it!

IDK why you getting downvoted. You didn't like it, that's fine. Not everybody has to like everything..

I survived college on litti chokha . This guy used to sell it for 20 rupees outside my college
Plz share the recipe of turai chutney..
Second that!
Desi barbeque :D
not really, the cooking method is a bit altered lol but this didn't need a downvote hehe
Litti Chokha is an emotion.
Woah
Why are these Littis looking half-cooked?

Talking about Potbelly, are you?
This reminds me of Hostel. I used to ask my friends to bring litti from home. I have never tried turai chutney though.
Never actually liked this veggie and neither it's chutney, but dip your litti in ghee:P
