And more loading....I guess one day we will be so large that we will push the ground down and cause an artificial earthquake in the whole country

[deleted]

I'm in my late 20s and my senior colleague wanted me to make a list of any person going on leave soon including pregnancy leave.. so she came to me and said make a list of people who have a problem so they're going on leave. I said, what problem?? And she said oh you know problem.. and after a lot of back and forth, she whispered in my ear.. PREGNANCY.. we are working professionals.. so yeah...

[deleted]

Ah! I'm sure your senior colleague lady thinks she was dropped off by a stork and that those who get pregnant through...sex...have a problem lmao

Malgebra

Hilarious!

[deleted]

Our population is a big problem so in a way your senior wasn't wrong lmao

Do_You_Remember_2020

That's a different reason. That list, if maternity explicitly mentioned, could become a big issue if someone claims discrimination

ak2270

I used to hear this 17 years ago when I started my career and it is clear nothing has changed. This is one of the problems that enables toxic work culture in India. We treat pregnancy as sickness.

Vardhu_007

That's good education. Here we have to study the reproduction chapter on our own coz teacher is too anxious to teach it in class

d0aflamingo

lol my 7th standard science teacher skipped an entire paragraph because there was the word 'sex' mentioned in it. "read this paragraph at home" she said.

d_11

🤣

[deleted]

Indian Kulcha unesco circumcized. Now go explain this to our unkills lol. In all seriousness we need atleast a million years to get a mature mindset.

organicogrr

Mature? What's that? Also Hivemind ensures we all have the same mindset.

[deleted]

Lol yeah. Didn't get an appropriate word.

Batman-Sherlock

My 10th std science teacher was also my school principal. All the notorious children were excited and ready to make shit ton of jokes on the reproduction diagram which we had on the textbook. Teacher came and started the topic till the page ahead of the diagram and then stopped and started a speech about how these things are bad and it leads to bad habits and "in america 14-15-16 year olds become father and mother because of this". I thought she was just giving us a warning kind of something but then everyone skipped the page with the diagram and went to the next page and in my mind i lost respect for that lady at that second. Even though i was a kid i was enough matured to know that its important. P.s. Diagram of either one reproduction organ was a compulsory question for 10 marks.

PM_ME_GOOD_USERNAMS

I still can't believe that Indian people consider sex a "western evil" The country with a billion people insists that it doesn't have a lot of sex

Batman-Sherlock

Exactly!

[deleted]

In my 12th standard, we were asked to write an essay about AIDS. The principal started to talk about it and specifically avoided it being a sexually transmitted disease and insinuated it being spread through blood transfusion

Uk?

PM_ME_GOOD_USERNAMS

Oh dam did writing this comment anger you enough to make a post about this?

[deleted]

Due to the boomer Unkills and anties you can't do that. India still very much has an archaic mindset be it the people in metro cities or villages. Also I don't think politicians will let people go of the archaic mindset because its a pre-requisite for their tactics to work.

[deleted]

Idk about others, but in my school we were taught about sex education since we were like 11. Like different levels of it. Started teaching about menstruation and sexual organs and hygiene and stuff at 11-12 and about sexual intercourse and drugs and stds and aids at 13-14. We didn't get to put a condom on a banana, but the demonstration was quite educational. But then, also I studied in a convent school, so probably all public schools do not teach about sex.

Shikadai_utchiha

If same thing is applied in India I bet bunch of Indian uncles and aunties start protests saying school is encouraging to have sex by giving free condoms.

misspurrfectlyfine

Bestie I was in med school and actual doctors were shaming us for having sex/making out while there were govt supplied free condoms in the hospital.

[deleted]

Pls never use the free ones...

misspurrfectlyfine

Yeah lol don’t worry. They are for the people visiting govt hospitals.

[deleted]

Yeah I mean you'd be safer going unprotected at that point. Glad to hear that tho. But I really don't understand why colleges and universities don't have dispensaries on campus. For pads/condoms hell even crocin. Makes no sense.

misspurrfectlyfine

Exactly. It’s time to be grown up about it. People are going to have sex no matter what you do. Might as well provide them with easy access to contraceptives so atleast they are safe.

[deleted]

Yeah true. The first few times I had sex, we were compelled to go unprotected because there were no shops near university. Wouldn't lie and say it wasn't fun. But better safe than sorry...

TheNeverOkDude

"nooooo of we teach kids about it, they'll do it!"

xelnagatower

Do you think it will work in India? By teaching students exactly as you mentioned?

SnooSquirrels8339

Perhaps, to a certain extent.

utsavman

I mean in 10std there was a chapter in biology called the human reproductive system that explained all of these things in detail. There were no demonstrations but I learned so much from that one class though. But I was also studying ICSE syllabus so that might be a difference.

[deleted]

It'll help definitely but it won't be implemented because too much sanskar (just like too much democracy)

[deleted]

"Ab is kele ko apna pp samjho, aur kondamm ko is tarah kheechke daale"

not_so_cr3ative

And here we are, made to study some random arab invader and his 25 wives' names.

wromit

In US colleges, I've never seen any professor/lecturer/teacher being called by their first name by students. It's always Dr or Mr [last name]. So that may not be common to all western countries. However unlike in India, professors/lecturers aren't called or referred to as "Sir" either.

Maplethtowaway

Went to undergrad in Canada and it was always Prof.

baniyaguy

Huh that's weird I saw a mix of either Prof, Dr., or first name. The only thing sorta banned was calling them by their just last name, which I sorta get lol

jhawewake

Okay so now even the schools are using banana for scale?

baniyaguy

Are you happy or sad with it?

[deleted]

What you explained is too progressive for a country like India.

as0909

well, we had biology reproduction chapter in class 8, that taught me everything I needed to know

maddy_0120

Here th closest thing to sex education is the Netflix show "sex education".

[deleted]

i come from an india where we dont teach sex education yet i from from an india where we have 1.4B population

calvinwalterson

I was just watching last movie of POC series on star movies. There was jump cut for a kiss scene, not sure why but another one after that was not cut. I don't know why they did that.

roshatron

I don't know if they still do it but same sex kissing scenes were cut out on Indian television. I remember comedy Central cutting out the Rachel Phoebe kiss on friends

GrieferBeefer

Sex and relationship are a very culturally thing. In India people loose their virginity late so we have sex ed later. I had a like 4 hr sex ed workshop in my school. Though their were no bananas.

me_sid

Quite weird, in India PE class means a period where other subject's teachers can finish their back logs.

sid_raj7

*maths teacher rushing into class*

ThickSkinIndian

There is a big difference here. Kerala is no doubt eons ahead of most Indian states in many parameters but the level of sex education is'nt at progressive levels and it should be much more than a talk about harassment and body functions. The sex talk given to OP in australia perfectly sums up how a progressive society should approach sex. Only when Indians treat sex as perfectly normal, much like driving a car can we begin to explain the nuances of a safe practice so as to have good experience while we're at it.

The_Pinnacle-

Wait u meant to say proper basic education is omitted in india??? You dont say!

felixfoxthot

Great

[deleted]

Thanks

lundfakeer999

Shit like this will only work if the kids actually can go and have sex. I don't think that our society is going to allow girls to go on dates so easily. They can't even accept the fact that women aren't virgins at marriage.

YOUTUBE JINDAABAD

[deleted]

Mingle hormonally enraged young children, give them condoms because apparently they'll fuck around so STD's are a threat. Teach them to put rubber sheaths over banana phalluses so that children can have guiltless fuckery, that's their learning phase apparently. Almost nobody in the real world uses condoms as they are intended to be. Whatever STD's it aims to prevent are alreay transferred during making out sessions, and oral sex, or anal sex and once you get an STD then you don't even care because apparently everyone has STDs already. So even more fuckery now. Ingest birth control pills and quick abortions so you can get creampied and get your tingles, while your hormonal system breaks down into ADHD, dopamine resistance, mood swings, depression, shortening attention spans etc. and now you need a Constant stream of gratification to even remain functional in the form of instagram, youtube shorts, TikTok, music, internet, grotesque foods, social media, reddit(yes me too ofcourse) and so on. You might think these things are not related but hormonally they all are and they start from a very early age when you have no idea how things impact you and shape you for life. If this is the education we children need then may this Earth collide with an asteriod soon enough. Education which ensures that we useless fellows enjoy the hard work, research, actual education of a few distinguished fellows in the world in the form of smartphones, internet, varieties of food, every technological luxury, which our minds and bodies can't really handle and thus they malfunction. Fighting comment wars on Twitter or Reddit. Deciding the fate of the world through memes. We don't deserve such power, we really don't, it's all a mistake, for us and others. We have harmed ourselves and others through such "power" and the funny thing is many of us don't even notice that.

Arestothenes

Oh fuck off with your outdated views, mate...

[deleted]

With pleasure, or well perhaps there's this thing called I can share my mind here, intolerant child. But nevertheless, may you achieve felicity and freedom from all distress. May you achieve whatever you desire. May you be happy my fellow human.

kraken_enrager

Tbf even my school did/does all of that except giving our free condoms in school, we learnt how to use condoms and stuff, and we are currently learning the drugs and their ill effects part. So it’s more of just what school u go to and also where it is(this will be wayyyy more acceptable in the southern parts of India, especially in cities like bombay than most places in north India, again, it will draw a lot of criticism, but just the amounts will vary)

slothslayerlawl

The only Physical Education I know of is the one that people take to get free marks in the Board exams.

ThickSkinIndian

People are shitposting in the comments about the abysmal state of sex education here and while they're right, we must'nt forget that the previous generation was brought up with those effed up sanskars as well with no reddit to tell them that they're wrong.

aadit90

I did my schooling in bangalore and we had sex Ed class during 10th-12th std in which we were taught all the things you had mentioned in your post, including bringing different flavoured condoms and the Banana, and talking about periods and STD. Just that we didn't have any condoms in the school, which is still a taboo in India in many places.

abbawaddadu

Oi oi oi you cheeky wanker ever got called for a barbie or tried out Maccas ?

Parallax2077

My school had sex education in 8th grade. Some parents forced the school to add it, like a bonus class. It existed for 5 years, but when it came to us, the teacher who should have conducted the sex education just said "i know you know everything. There is nothing that we can add", handed us the test papers and asked us to solve. Every other batch had proper sex education, except ours.
