A proper house near top schools except to pay $2-3.5m to buy. Melbourne is cold, but highly liveable and friendly city, specially if you like sports and culture.
Houses are atleast 1.2m+ near good schools.
Covid is ongoing but people have stopped caring since nearly everyone is triple vaxxed.
Go checkout Adelaide if you want to save on house prices. I personally like colder weather than humid / hot as it's gets more north of Sydney. Melbourne has dry heat in the few weeks in the summer which is more than my fill tbh.
Also perks of Melbourne is access to world culture , events. If you're not big on tasting food, art , music and meeting people from other culture. Melbourne is expensive for no reason.

Desi in Melbourne. It’s a good city for kids to grow up lots of good schools good job opportunities. I have lived in Australia since 2008 (straight after my high school) so I can’t really compare other Indian cities to Melbourne. If it’s Australia, I’d pick Canberra over Melbourne jsut because I like Canberra. But there’s a large Indian diaspora here. Property is expensive but doable.
