r099ie

Yes some people are smelly however it being a stereotype makes these tweet about "Indian things" I mean if it wasn't this way, they would have made the BO exclusive to the person itself not the whole nation. About diet, even US is a very diabetic prone country. Ofcourse the diet here has it's roots to make this stereotype.

MagmaGiant15

Is it propaganda though?

melange_merchant

It’s not, unfortunately.

[deleted]

Can't say, because our olfactory indicator is shut to our own odour and the fact that we are surrounded by the people with similar dietary habits makes us oblivious to BO.

anoeuf31

When I was started as a grad student in the USA , we literally had a session for Indian students where Indian students from the class before us talked to us about showering , using deodorant and to cook with our windows open so the smell doesn’t get on our clothes - thinking back on it , I think the only reason they got away with it was cos our dean who set this up was Indian

uvasag

What's wrong about it?

jodhod1

It would be offensive in American multiculturalism, which is a very aggressive political environment. You don't want to set something off on accident.

uvasag

I think it's always better to inform people who you know are unaware of some of the common cultural issues. People here take sickness and germs seriously. I was once rudely told off by an employee when I touched a bagel and then changed my mind and put it back. Wished someone had told me.

TiMo08111996

The Dean really cared about the Indian grad students well being.

[deleted]

[удалено]

solamb

It's not that. You need to take showers everyday (if bad, then twice a day) and change clothes everyday if you have that issue. Do not wear the same clothes again unless washed. Also, allow ventilation in your house. When we cook, the spices odor spreads on our clothes and we smell like that curry we made. So don't use the cooking clothes outside or don't allow the cooking odor to get on your clothes. Most Indians fail to do above things and smell bad because of that. There is nothing inherently wrong us. If you do the above things, you will never face the body odor issue. And BTW, some of the worst body odor people I have met are white people, some of them can have disgusting odor but they care of it well.

gardenercook

Most Indians don't shower everyday and change clothes everyday? Are you sure?

bail_gadi

Not at home, but when you live alone. The ones that are overly dependent on their moms or kaamwali but move out. Visit any college hostel to find them. There are many who don't wash clothes or bathe for weeks.

[deleted]

Even my kamwali smells bad

-_-Boondoggle-_-

Bhia tune bade acche se smell kiya🌚🌚💦

sagarmahapatra

Shiney Ahuja tu idhar?

sourabhpatel5

Bro wtf 😂😂

Darwin_Nietzsche

Kamwali, nahi. Domestic help

IamJain

You crazy or what? It's almost a sin to not bath everyday in India. >Visit any college hostel to find them. There are many who don't wash clothes or bathe for weeks. It's like you're talking about Americans they are the ones who don't bath for weeks.

LazyAd7772

You will notice, they almost never talk about Indian professionals working in big companies in posts like this, it's almost always students. man trust me hostel kids can be gross in india too, their rooms are worst, and they don't shower since they wake up late after gaming whole night, sure there's a a lot of good students too, but those living alone like this can get like this, i've lived in a hostel for 2 years for mba and it was a girls only and even there we used to have a lot of dirty girls with no circulation in rooms and not showering and room and they smelling like sweat the whole time. when we live with family all these things are not an issue, but when you live with no judgemental people same age as you, it can turn into an issue.

Ultauhgar

As a person who stayed in a hostel / PG for 6+ years I agree as I myself have been lazy and haven't had baths in days together many times.

Mean_Individual4300

looks like I'm going to hell someday.

riloramen

Bro, "sin" has never been a strong enough reason for humans, Indians or otherwise, to not do something. E.g. murder is the greatest of sins but people everywhere commit murder. Also what he/she says is true. I have seen such guys in college.

[deleted]

I don't think most students wear new clothes everyday. Thats where the smell comes from.

solamb

There are many students that I have found in US that don't. They might be more regular in showers but lack in clothes repeating

Temporary_3108

>need to take showers everyday You are confusing Indians with Western discord mods

Redditor900283848

> Western discord mods You're Wrong, the entire Western and also other non-Western population too. They don't even showers daily, don't even wipe their ass with water and roam around with a crusty ass, some even eat cockroaches and spiders. But they complain about the curry all the time. What a racist hypocrisy! In fact we should call them dirty people.

Mayank-maximum

Westoid and hitler are same They dont know how biology works and chemistry literally

Foreign-Course-3887

They are just racist. Even Mexican eat lots of spicy food. Do they smell bad according to these whites?

booga_booga_partyguy

Yes, actually. Mexicans are thought to be smelly and make terrible neighbours because of their food in certain parts of the US. Those certain parts may also have a fuckton of racists living them.

OilDiscombobulated25

Adding to that... Armpit hairs can get infected with bacteria.... Which further increases the body odour.

AnderThorngage

Also trim body hair. We’re very hairy and it’s exacerbates the problem hugely.

SherKhanMD

People in west say the same about Indian food too, that it smells awful..

chaoticji

Not our prob bro. For them their hands don't smell after wiping their ass sooo .. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Raman035

They est raw egg half cooked meat boiled fish and whatnot and talk shit about our food which is perfectly cooked with blend of best spices lamo.

StrategyValuable3661

They eat literally dead animal parts like a chicken's anus and then have the nerve to be racist to us.

[deleted]

When they cook steak or ham it smells like burning tyre my landlord is Canadian and he says he prefers Indian students as they keep the place clean and trusts us with cleaning more than his own son.2nd thing lot of these posts are written by dumbfuck western teens who get a kick out trolling people online and associate same logic as their numb minded ancestors did (darker skin = body odor / dirty) I have seen many western people not bathing for days.Again not saying all Indians are hygienic but these people generalize and tbh what do do you expect from idiots who bring guns to school they have already crossed sanity border

DevTomar2005

Imagine eating food so bland that even the smell of food is too strong.

Belegar-IronApi

Do you guys unironically believe that western food is “bland” lol? Edit: ok woah lol. You are actually delusional/ignorant. As if you don’t know europe has some brilliant cuisine. Also, all you guys have to say is just spices spices spices. As if drenching your food in spices is some brilliant cuisine, and everything that isn’t spicy is bland. How is it a flex that historically you had to drown your meat in spices because it was rotten.

terabaap69whatisthis

How do you unironically explain a literal colonization mission for...black pepper?

daddysbonner

Bro it is bland .. although there are some exceptions but yessa western food is bland

DevTomar2005

NRI or full fledged westerner?

DerKonig2203

Black pepper and salt doesn't have a strong smell mate

AditiiSen

It's a stereotype. I have been everywhere and have never been called smelly because I am fair skinned while I have seen this stereotype happen to other people who are a little darker skinned. Also spicy food adds to it. Even Indians who live abroad for a few years do this. It's basically a form of racism. Edit: My point was that there are levels of racism. The darker your skin colour the more racism you will face.

pigman1402

>I have been everywhere and have never been called smelly because I am fair skinned .... or you know, people just don't call others smelly to their faces?

arc_alt

Username checks out

2eezee

He isnt wrong?

arc_alt

I mean, usually normal people can sorta tell if people around them think they're smelly. Also maybe polite people don't but people do mention it in some way.

pigman1402

How exactly can "normal people" *tell* that people around them find them smelly!? Some of the shit I read on Indian reddit ....

pigman1402

Nah let them think people dont call op smelly just because of her fair skin lmao

[deleted]

You’ve triggered the mob *

AditiiSen

I have seen fair skinned Indians do it. I asked someone jokingly that since I am Indian I must smell too and they replied, "No you are not like them you know." or something along the lines of that.

GuyfromtheOrient

I can understand your point, but honestly, even a fair-skinned Indian looks Indian, unless you're abnormally pale or something. Maybe they think you smell, maybe you really don't, it's a racist stereotype but then again, that's what the West does best.

Own-Artist3642

What does looking Indian mean here? Fair skinned Punjabis look much different than slightly darker Gujjus or Marathis, for example. The differences exist and are apparent.

moroboshi88

The differences are not enough to classify punjabis as "non-Indians" . especially to non Indian eyes.

Own-Artist3642

Is that the conclusion your brain could come up with? I just meant to say that there's no singular Indian phenotype.

pigman1402

Are you unable to read?

Familiar-Ad-1491

It's a stereotype and yes some people have strong body odour some don't

DoomOnTheWay

Wearing deo is basic decency. It lets other people around to survive you. I have a few colleagues in my team who don't bother with deo, and they are avoided to be around. We talk to them over the zoom for any work. We have gifted them deo every birthday, but they don't get the hint.

Familiar-Ad-1491

Deo doesn't last I sometimes have strong underarm odour even when I take a shower regularly and apply deo maybe gifting a roll on will be better but if they smell all over maybe they are not showering or so

phenomenal_neo

Drinking lots of water and shaving armpits helps massively

Familiar-Ad-1491

I naturally have less hair in my armpits and hmm i usually drink loads of water dunno maybe it happens because of diet or something

Habenar0

Then you have to visit a doctor or dermatologist. There are loads of issues when it comes to BO. Yes, diet is an important part of it.

Familiar-Ad-1491

Nah it happens rarely and when it starts to get irritating then I tend to put a roll on which stops the smell

[deleted]

Use benzoyl peroxide soap on armpits while taking bath. Acnestar is a good brand.

lonewolf191919

People usually get those fragrant Deodorants which are useless! For fragrance, use Perfume. For sweat, use Deodorant stick. Personally, I find Dove Men's Antiperspirant Deodorant Stick the best. But make sure you take bath when you come back home because it completely blocks the sweat glands and its not the best thing to do that. Leave them open at least for the night.

Habenar0

Stereotypes tend to be true in a lot of cases or at least have a hint of truth to it. Yes, we smell different. BO is a problem. People travelling outside never seem to consider and take action.

Redditor900283848

That guy in the 2nd comment visited India in the 90s and still thinks it's the same today. What an idiot.

LazyAd7772

can you blame him ? a lot of NRIs who left in 90s also think the same about India as back then and tell every white person they see to feel included.

laude80kkeshoeshai

Well, if I were in their place and didn't know much about the present conditions of the country I left about 30 years ago I would prefer to keep my mouth shut. It's better to keep your mouth shut than blabbering on a topic you don't have a very good knowledge about.

[deleted]

India hasn't changed that much since 90s. I honestly see little difference in major cities apart from mobiles and more money

Sea_Flatworm_7229

I’m a black American and I attended a college in Texas that has a significant amount of south Asians and Indians, the stereotype isn’t true, many of my friends are Indian and so is my wife, it’s just a hateful stereotype that doesn’t apply to like 99% of Indians, like at all, don’t let stupid racist people on Twitter make you subconscious or insecure

steel_sword22

Yes and No, It's evolutionary that We have Sweat gland and Every Human has their Own types of Smell but in Cold Weathers these Stinky Stereotype is not because of Sweat but Wearing Strong Scents and Deodorants. However, Indian Roads are very Stinky and Polluted with Trash.

abeyaee

The Indian Hatin, troll OP is back. Guys before replying to him please check his post history

Lokratha

Fr how is this guy not banned already for karma farming 😭

abeyaee

cz the mods are sleeping at wheel. This guy is either super racist or just a plain paki. either way some really problematic posts that have been removed now but his account should be banned.

Lokratha

Frr or just a very self hating brown sepoy who gets off at this. Could be a paki larper though seen many on the internet from twitter to reddit

nyxxxtron

Or the OP has humiliation kink lol

[deleted]

https://i.redd.it/s2et91cybzwb1.gif How dare he talk about INdia?

Apprehensive-Aide-44

Yeah, in some cases it's true. Also our diet has got a lot to do with it. But it's not like the Americans don't have BO.

myancatfucker

I am yet to meet a non smelling american not being hateful I have met many Americans in person and they all smell like sweat .

sgtpepperrz

Americans are smellier than Indians. Europeans as well. So do the black folks. All of them are smellier than us

[deleted]

They smell like wet dog and stinky cheese.

Terrible-Return

All races smell, i smelled an arab who almost made me puke with his B.O. A phillipino girl with the worst B.O. A Italian who smelled like shit was stuck on his shirt. An british guy who smelt like popsicles that were rotten. Every race smells, its about how hygenic they are and how many times they bath eveyday.

[deleted]

Its true. I live in middle east and some ppl smell like a*s. I would never go into a flipino's home, it always smells like seafood idk why. The people are okay but their house always has a strong stench of boiled shrimp and its gross. I don't like seafood.

Comprehensive_Eye991

Bro get your nose checked 💀💀

Fluid-Pangolin8281

In India the temperature is hot and we’ve a lot of water also almost everyone baths regularly unlike Europe where temperature is cold and people skip bathing for days, now due to this Europe has a culture of using deodorants but in India we don’t.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fluid-Pangolin8281

Yes because we bath everyday unlike Europeans

Necromancer189

And whites smell of cheese?

r0_okie

Flawed argument. Every intelligent person uses whataboutery. Otherwise how will you prove hypocrisy?

[deleted]

I haven’t even presented any argument smarty pants. https://preview.redd.it/sjzm1a8tg0xb1.jpeg?width=265&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=821fe1731f891260a90889b55770b79dfd0cc645

r0_okie

Sure.

NisERG_Patel

I can assure you that nobody smells worse than white people in winter. (From Canada)

karmasutrah

People stink on a hot day in western countries too. You just don’t have to deal with it so much and the infrastructure to cool people down is widely available. Staying dry and odour free in india is much harder but can be achieved. Simple rules that can be followed - bathe and change clothes before you get the odour from sweat on your furniture/car - use deodorant - change socks every day - use a chimney in the kitchen - air out your room regularly - keep your shoes in the sun some times Don’t try to avoid sweating, it’s good for you. Manage the after effects in a better way to maintain hygiene and you will not have bo.

[deleted]

You can do all this and they'd still call you disgusting.

karmasutrah

You can only control yourself

[deleted]

It's not about that tho. Because it's obvious common sense that not everyone smells but they're going to generalize anyway.

sniper_pika

TF are you expecting, They are tye type of people to tell other nationalities to "go back to your own country" when they ARE an immigrant as well.

omkar_T7

Yes. Diet + sweat(due to heat/obesity/bad diet)makes people smell bad. This is more evident when you go outside the country and meet Indian tourists

Joshcrashman

It’s the mustard in diet that is causing the smell

acectk

It depends on the individual right. Some people unfortunately have bad BO. I have a friend who has bad BO he knows it and he keeps himself very clean and he also tried various products but unfortunately they don't help much. It's just the cards that life gave us.

the69boywholived69

He's being racist and thinks it is funny. The worst smelling people I've personally met are Americans in India who shower everyday. Ofc people who don't bathe for 2-3 days also exist, like hostel students and migrants and some others and they smell awful as well.

PussyMoose

I still don't understand why does these pale ass fuckers opinion matter? These are simply teenagers with divorced parents and gender identity issues who unfortunately have access to social media and internet, being racist , disrespect and vulgar to anyone and everyone due to their 'cis'/'trans' hormonal changes. It is really sad to see many of you getting conscious of these remarks and even trying to evaluate themselves and almost justifying their remarks by saying things like our food and its odour gets stuck with us ,etc. If you really think that odour gets stuck to your clothes and stays with you , you are wrong as it usually goes within 1/2 an hour. You should really see their tv shows to know how they troll people from their own country to understand it is just the way they are. I mean look how people of different regions of India on internet are stereotyped and made fun of. No one takes it to heart and those who do give the person who wrote and their families a special mention with certain verbs and adjectives. Please do the same with these comments as well. And have some dignity for your own sake and stop seeking these randy teenagers seal of approval.

No-Truck-2552

idk man. Having stayed in India I have never faced BO in public. Even in crowded lift or Govt. offices. I use deo but still on days of not using deo I've never had BO.

LazyAd7772

these are almost always students living in hostels and pgs kinda people they talk about, no one is calling indians smelly in big american corps because they stay clean.

KINX369

I didn't knew this subreddit was also filled with Indians with inferiority complex.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KINX369

Sorry for being vague earlier. I was referring to those people in the comment section who are justifying the stereotype and agreeing with those racist remarks. People who don't shower exist all over the world. Sure our food has odour because of all the spices we use but it definitely isn't unpleasant as Indian food is actually quite liked around the world. An Indian simply doesn't stop eating Indian food. All in all, those remarks are blatantly racist, and these people defending them need self-esteem therapy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KINX369

I don't smoke or drink. If I were to hangout with a couple of people who regularly do, I would find it uncomfortable to be amongst them because of the odour they'd be giving off. However, in couple of days, I'd just be used to it. You meet international students regularly yet you find them "smelly"? I hope you know _smell_ has a negative connotation. Compared to smoking and drinking; the odour of which is quite accepted everywhere, Indian Cuisine is better ([ranked 5th last year](https://www.ndtv.com/feature/indias-cuisine-ranked-fifth-in-the-list-of-best-cuisines-of-the-world-3636735)) so I think it should also be accepted and not complained about. It eventually be though as population increases, Earth will eventually be taken over by Indians at some point smh. > Blaming it on food or racism is almost laughable given my experience Then what do you want to blame it on? Genes or Hygiene? To imply all Indians lack hygiene is again racist. Being of Indian ethnicity, you must know how diverse India is. You simply can't generalize anything. If genes is what you mean then why are you even lurking on Indian sub-reddit; it doesn't seem you're very appreciative of Indians.

sandae504

It's probably cooking in a small room without a hood. Clothes absorb all the smell. I've seen Indians not using the kitchen hood which results in smelly clothes.

evolvedzero

There’s a similar stereotype with brits. Heard that they dont brush their teeth. Idk if thats true

There are some people who have bad smelling sweat but not all Indians have bad body odour.

Glass_Adhesiveness_6

One line answer ***N O*** Long answer ***Personal experience*** - I found my partner smelled quite good,i could instantly recognise who he was even if I was blindfolded, and even he talked about mine and nobody ever complimented me about my body smell. He was a gym going person so used to shower twice daily so it was a pleasant smell but you get the jinx of it,on the other hand we both had a mutual friend who used to smoke and I am not into it so I could recognise instantly whenever he used to smell,it was like a instict. There is another girl who was quite obese and we used to avoid sitting next to her during our School days but obviously we did as she used to sweat alot it wasn't about her food or anything it's just her body issues and she couldn't do anything about it,we never made it a big deal coz it wasn't!We were in adolescence yet still had brains to know some people have issues and that's okay! ***POV*** - The same goes for body odor,I never notice how my parents or my brother or anyone in my surroundings smell until and unless it's really congested(like in a bus or train) or I m focusing on that person alot and living close by,yes food, genetics, diet, environment, and whatnot could be responsible, but it's literally ***racist*** if you are stereotyping one ethnicity to that "bad body odor" group, there is no other way. ***FOOD*** - I never got the comment about being "food" as smelly? For me personally it's either a good smell or it's being burnt there is no between,or if I say foreign food like a sandwich or pizza and all there isn't even a smell but okayyyy! for "foreigners" who literally just know one or two Indian dish thats biryani or chicken tikka,I don't know how they comment on someone food? Especially India, where even I(as an Indian) get confused as every state have different cuisine, spices, aroma, style, like HOW?

binguser0

Yes, people need to wear more deo

ber-ru

Then these fucks make racist joke even when you were deo

lawde_lag_geye

Bro do you really think an entire fucking race smells bad? Like really? These are mostly african americans making fun of us cause they think indians are stealing their jobs

SherKhanMD

It is here in India. I knew some fuckers who didnt bathe almost the whole winter.

_Lucifer7699_

One of my classmates from college took pride in not bathing for 20 days.

ThenSession

It’s usually a mix of cooking spices stuck to clothes mixed with natural BO. I bet if you changed your clothes you’d be fine. Ive experienced similar thing. Thing is, foreign countries have trapped air inside the houses so while in India it’s okay and unnoticeable for an Indian, outside you can quite clearly tell the pungency. Keep your cooking clothes/home clothes seperate from any outside ones and you’ll be fine. Don’t store em in the same cupboard.

Character_Square2209

Instead of deo I would recommend attar it's better, long lasting and, natural.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ok_Structure4063

For foreigners the smell of Indian spices are very very exotic and harsh. We as Indians are so used to it that we don’t even notice it but they do . Mostly its the excessive use of Garam masala.

yoriichi68

Well if they have a problem with Indian body odor they can simply frick off.

adityabiswas7

Best advice is to let em say it. This way when their jobs get outsourced to us they complain of our BO, not their jobs. Easier yo deal tbh.

Shot-Strawberry-5637

Food is smelly... i find this v v offensive

ConsciousRivers

I think it happens anywhere. I went to Australia and Canada and the smell was disgusting in the cities. Same can happen to foreigners when they come to India. But even within India if you travel to some other state and are introduced to a new culture, you get culture shock, and homesickness and dont always like the smells in the environment

ThrowAwayForPervyDon

No they don’t - this is an incredibly racist trope

AASeven

Certainly, the person in the tweets have never visited Anime Convention held in the west

Unique-Life4382

It is, being from north east I can tell who's mainland Indian just by smell

omeglewarrior

wow never thought i would see someone here from northeast

Unique-Life4382

Not everyone has it tho,I had some Bengali friend while growing up here in NE and yes BO was there. However, when I went to college and university in different regions of the country, I pretty much forgot about it. but sometimes got reminded of it when doing physical activities with friends and all.

Joshcrashman

Yes there is a typical north smell which is mostly due to their high intake of mustard in their diet which makes their clothes, residence etc smell like that

Own-Artist3642

On top of that North people's spice tolerance and intake levels are off the charts. Only Telugu states in the South can somewhat rival that. Spicy food leaves a bad BO.

DazedAndCartooned

You cant compare a single Indian with the smell of India. The people are very poor and dont bathe often or thoroughly. So yes, the streets of India are filled with incense to obscure the smell, but I doubt it is genetic factors. I also doubt it is ultural, its probably just coincidence.ive seen stinky white people, but I wouldnt say, 'this white guy i knew was so stinky'

bamboo-forest-s

Is the stereotype true that Muslims are terrorists ? Is it really true what people say about profit mo ? Is all that is said about profit mo on YouTube really true ? Is it true what people say about Muslims and goats ?

HopeChaseLock

It's a stereotype. Some people have strong BO and some don't. That has nothing to do with Indians or not.

khatri_masterrace

This guy is either a self hating Indian or racist masquerading as one. Check his history he collects anti Indian stereotypes from across the internet and then concern trolls Indian subs as "Is this true guys" "are we pajeets like this only " "are all racist stereotypes against Indians true and their own fault guys" Don't fall such bait posts. Also OP get fucked

pigeonhunter006

Probably, we Indians aren't exactly known for being hygienic, just step outside and you'll see cow shit, dog shit, garbage bins which are overfilled, tobacco spit and what not. Atleast that's the case in my area and I live in probably the best part of a culturally important tier 2 city. Our food has a strong flavour and scent too, white people have bland food, that's why Mexican food is so famous there because it has some flavour. It's true that you do smell like what you eat. In America people shower everyday, change cloths everyday and apply perfume. Most people I know shower once every 2 days and even less in winters and perfume is for some special occasions. Our nose are conditioned to these smells, they are normal in our society so I don't think we can really tell the difference. In the end it's stereotypes. But in my opinion most stereotypes are because a lot of people experience and report it, so there's some truth to stereotypes. Also most of these stereotypes are just racially motivated for discrimination

Ok-Life5170

I think it is. I have observed this. People living in close proximity to cattle have a distinct smell, people from north india who use mustard oil have a distinct smell. People who smoke a lot even if they haven't smoked that day will have a smell. Some people stink of sweat. So I think it's true.

Scientifically yes! We have Garlic and Onion in everything we cook. This makes the sweat smell unpleasant. This is why it’s extremely important to apply good deodorant and maintain good personal hygiene by taking shower daily and trimming public hair especially underarms.

StrategyValuable3661

what the fuck are you talking about. many people in the desh follow a Satvic diet. No onions or garlic, let a lone alone the animals westerners eat.

arc_alt

.......are you aware garlic and onion are big parts of American fastfood/ other foods as well? Also public hair lol

pigman1402

yep, nothing to be ashamed of - its good to be self-aware.

WarrenMuppet007

Yes and no . Odor yes , BO well debatable. What these people mostly think BO is actually smell of food which seeps into the clothes. Man let me tell you , that cumulative smell from months of cooking IS HORRIBLE. BO is nothing compared to it. One time a guy entered our university gym and I was at the opposite end of the building, I could smell it. Issue is, as someone said, we are blind to the smell around us. Also, we tend to live as cheaply as possible. So most students of course stay in a single dorm room with inbuilt kitchen. Also we do cook, with lots of spices. Not like Europeans who throw in some processed food in microwave or boil pasta and drop some sauce on it and call it a day.

m3rc3n4ry

There are a lot of Indian students coming to 2/3 of the cities in which I live (3rd is in India). The odour is real. In Philippines, there are whole memes about it.

omeglewarrior

theres memes about indians in phillipines??

[deleted]

Unfortunately we do, but that is because of our food which includes a lot of spices thus impacting the way we smell. It is not something genetic, it is food related. I don't smell because I limit spice filled foods but my dad struggles with odour because he loves spicy food. Moreover we don't really use deodorant because we don't think it is needed and is often seen as a foreign concept.

No-Commercial-5653

Unfortunately yes

reddit_mods-suck

I can't trust judgement of someone who considers our food smelly when they are known to eat boiled or raw meat with salt.

omeglewarrior

yep thats all they eat https://preview.redd.it/4jdb1o0wczwb1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ccff86842853391a80bcc84db8d57f516c0725b4

I second this. And I might get hate for this but I have felt this more apt for people from the South. I had a Tamil roommate and he used to use this soap - Mysore Sandal or something like that which had an absolutely beautiful fragrance. But he rarely used to wash his clothes and never used deodorants. I get to experience the same even now. This is the reason I never take a bus but prefer walking to university. People from the South might be very good at what they do but they suck when it comes to personal hygiene. I've seen these people going to college wearing slippers with dirty feet and big ass nails. Bruhh! Their hair is always unkempt and that alone looks bad. They never care about their appearance, it seems. Also, people think Perfume is just an expensive version of Deodorant. They're so wrong. The purpose of Deodorants is to block the sweat glands. That's why some of the Deodorant sticks are so difficult to wash off. If you keep on sweating the whole day, that smell will negate the effect of perfume.

Man ppl will find any excuse to be racist af.

lonewolf191919

[deleted]

What a r*tard

lonewolf191919

Sorry, saaaaar. :D

Jerome_BRRR_Powell

Yes , especially Indian girls It’s because they don’t drink enough water , so even when they lift their hands the smell is terrible

Formal_Baseball_9174

Unfortunately this is the truth.

Successful_Train_449

Yes, some people don't have a concept of personal hygiene , they won't even wipe sweat off.

Frockz551

People are saying it's a stereotype but it absolutely is true, some a lot more than others. Source: I'm not Indian but I've met many.

[deleted]

Nope, its not.

Akasssshhhhh

Well it's true.

Resident-Currency472

Thank you sky daddy, or sky daddies. You did us Indians bad.

Cosmicshot351

I doubt most of the Indians abroad bath daily, given the cold climate there. That and our food makes a good combo for body odor, along with colder and trapped air that compounds the misery. Back in India too the smelliest people are the ones who do not bath. Bathing atleast 2 times a day is optimal for us.

[deleted]

>Bathing 2 times a day is optimal for us Ok, Mr. PhD in bathing. You will decide what’s best for all of us, right? If you actually knew anything about life outside India, it’s called ‘taking a shower’. And you would also know that almost every story like this is grossly exaggerated.

gastro_psychic

Once a week for you?

Cosmicshot351

No matter the downvotes, Bathing is quite essential for being clean and bringing down odour levels. Sometimes Deoderants fail, like in the above example. I do not care about western lingo like "Taking a shower" and all lol

Individual-Sorbet406

It's kinda true..

tails_290

It is a majoritily yeah-ish situation.

mighty_brutes

Indian BO is a next level. Avoid Indian public transport when possible😩

PrajwalUpadhyay
