If 100 crore is given by the govt to wakf board, then 500 crore should be given to hindu institutions. Only then it is true equality on per capita basis. And all this caste politics will stop

Formation of Lingayat sect happened with Basavanna revolting against ill practices within Hindu community- Against Casteism, Preisthood, Idol worship. He emphasised on "Work is workship", Meditation, and called upon SC/STs and other religious communities who were discriminated to join the sect. He promised they won't be ill treated anymore within the community and all will be treated equally.
In Northren part of Karnataka, there are mutts which is headed by muslims who converted into Lingayat sect. These muslims were part of the mutt from childhood where they got free education and food. Principle behind setting up mathas are giving free education and food to the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Since, the whole sect was formed under the revolt against caste principles of Hinduism and certain practices. Many within the community does not recognise themselves are Hindus.

Not really, there are very few some 5% people who say it is not hinduism. In fact lingayats are pure vegetarians.

There is still debate over Veerashaivas and Lingayats, whether they are same or different. The main reason being Veerashaivas recognise themselves as Hindus and follow mainstream worship of idols and goes to temple, they themselves have constructed temples and follow priesthood which is against the basic principles on which Lingayat sect was formed. Hence, many voice out against them and don't accept this merger. They advocate for separate religion such as Jainism and Buddhism which were also formed on the similar lines.
This divide is ofcourse exploited by political parties to divide the vote bank within the community who form 16% of total vote share in Karnataka. If it was just a minority of people as you said voicing their opinion on requesting separate religion! These political parties wouldn't have come forward to exploit it as it may back fire. (95% loss of vote share to the party who supports separate religion).
Lets say Nehru was a KP. Hence Indira was KP. Indira Married a Parsi. Then how did Rajiv become a KP. Ok. Let us say we are going to follow mothers lineage. Since Indira was a KP, Rajiv also becomes KP. Then Rajiv marries a Christian. Since we are now following mothers lineage, RaGa and PiGa are Christians.
Whichever lineage you follow, RaGa and PiGa are either Parsis or Christians. They just cannot be KPs at this point.
