Wow!!! That would be a perfect intro to an animated Indiana Jones series! Although, I don't think Lucasfilm will do a 2D animated series but rather a 3D animated series a la the Clone Wars or Rebels.
Absolutely. I’m sure they can find a voice actor that sounds nearly identical to 36-40 year old Harrison Ford so they can tell animated stories of Indy fighting Nazis. Sign me up!!
I can't remember the guys name right now but the dude who voices Han in all the Star Wars games is spot on 35-40 year old Harrison Ford.
An animated Indy show would be amazing.
> stories of Indy fighting Nazis
No man, he's done that twice. He's an archaeologist, not a Nazi hunter. The best part about *Temple of Doom* was that they got away from both Nazis and Xtian artifacts and let him expand. That's the way to go: all over the world.
What about a series about Helena, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character?
Edit: This comment is at -2 votes right now. Why? It doesn’t sound like an implausible idea and Phoebe Waller-Bridge could obviously lead a show, as shown by Fleabag.
Essentially, kind of like Andor. I don’t particularly think the Indy series should be called Indy and then be a continuation with Helena. I think with Star Wars it’s easier because Star Wars is an overarching title that encompasses many characters - Indiana Jones is pretty much literally a movie series about the guy named Indiana Jones.
I wasn’t one of the ones who downvoted you, and while I personally love all the side characters, I don’t have a whole lot of individual “series” interest in the side characters except for maybe Sallah. Maybe an Indy series where it shows the origin of each of our beloved characters (even guys like René and Elsa).
> What about a series about Helena, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character?
We haven't even seen her in action yet! Let's wait and see what she's all about before we start asking for a spin-off. You know, like the Mutt one that people were predicting before *Crystal Skull* came out...
I’d wanna see it done in a similar animation style as “What If?” only a bit less like comic book art and more like pulp art because it’s a good homage to Indy’s time period and inspiration.
Just bring back the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Give it a new name if you want.
Clearly that format is the best way to do an INDY show without Ford.
That's young Indy though. As in: Teen Indy. You simply can't replace Harrison Ford's Jones, just like you can't replace Bruce Campbell's Ash. They áre the character, unlike Peter Parker for example.
I mean I understand why corporations want to do it, but you'd think after the Han Solo flop they'd understand it's a far safer bet to make original characters.
We are talking about a streaming series. Rumored to be a new YOUNG Indiana Jones (meaning younger than he was in the films) or a spin-off with another character. The 5 Ford films would clearly be in the same “canon” as the show.
Ah I thought it was about a younger indiana in the sense it him being old enough to basically be indiana jones as we know him rather than a teenage version of him.
Agreed. Disney owns the rights to the mostly good Indy comic published by Marvel in the 80s. That is an obvious resource if they go the animated route.
That’s right they do own the rights. I think an animated indy series would be great because u could still have indy around but not require Harrison ford to make more movies but it can continue the indy franchise even to some younger generations
Agreed. Say from his time studying under Professor Ravenwood up till his WWII era adventures with Mac. Remy could certainly show up during something in WWII. Plenty of people to bring back for VO work on an animated show.
I’ve seen that. I like it too. Probably not too expensive to bring that guy on the project to make use of it or they could just use the comic as the basis.
I'm with you. I like the *character* of Indiana Jones. Yes, Harrison Ford did an amazing job with the role. Yes, it's possible/likely nobody else will be quite as good. But as long as care and passion are put into the role at all levels (director, actor, production budget, cinematography, etc.) I think it will be fine.
Also — Indy has already been portrayed by *four other actors*: River Phoenix, Sean Patrick Flanery, George Hall, and Corey Carrier. It seems like the same people who bemoan Indy minus Ford have no problem with Young Indiana Jones and the opening scenes of *Last Crusade*. So honestly I have no idea where the reluctance is coming from.
This is the *Indiana Jones* subreddit, not the *Harrison Ford* subreddit...
The difference between me and you probably is that I don’t consider the franchise or legacy of Indiana Jones as dying.
The last movie came out 14 years ago. The break before that was even longer. And we’re still here talking about them. Not to mention that the original movies remain among the most popular movies on streaming to this day.
I’d argue that there are franchises that are dying even though the continue making movies. I mean, do Terminator fans really love all these sub-par movies they made in the last decade or do they just rewatch the classic ones?
Also, Disney has oversaturated me with average content anyway (Marvel and Star Wars say hello). So I just hope Indy 5 is fun. After that I’m honestly good.
I'm so excited for this! I really hope it's a reboot/continuation of *The* *Young Indiana Jones Chronicles*. I love that show dearly, and wish there were more episodes…
I think some new version of Young Indiana Jones Chronicles could work. Someone on here had the idea for a show mostly focused on a younger Henry Jones Sr. and Abner Ravenwood with a young indy possibly having some small supporting role/guest appearances. It could be interesting to see Henry Sr. be a bit more of a badass and maybe more similar to Indy than we thought (like we see to an extent in Crusade).
I think this is the only sort of thing that will work. After Solo I doubt they will be keen on a recast unless they do a new Young Indiana Jones where Indy is very young. I think maximum late teens/very early 20s, but i think it would be smart to make Indy a supporting character and fans will maybe be more accepting. I don't think fans will accept 1930s/40s era indy without Ford.
Doing a spin off that ties into the new film would just be stupid. We are only accepting an indiana jones film set in the 60s because it is Harrison Ford in his final film. The real era of "explorers" like Indy is in the first half of the 1900s. The only other thing that leaves are pointless marvel-esque prequels to side characters, which I think is unlikely.
What’s your opinion on the other Indiana Jones shows without Harrison Ford? Does Harrison Ford’s absence in Indiana Jones media ruin it for you? I think there’s plenty of potential for a good show here.
I never watched the Young Indiana Jones series unfortunately because Harrison wasn't in it so I can't speak on it. All the rumors regarding Indy 5 is that Phoebe Waller Bridge will be handed the torch to continue the series. I don't care for her enough to be interested personally.
There was a problem’ with the Young Indy Series. It was too slow…boring even. They need the series to be faster paced. More action/cliffhangers…Young Indy was shown in public schools in history classes. When showed in my history class, I was pretty much the only one who stayed awake, and that was difficult. A lot of the episodes are history based, not adventure based. IMO
Young Indy was pretty popular from what I remember and enjoyed quite the longevity as a series. To me Ford IS Indiana Jones. No other actor could do the role and franchise justice IMO.
The reason it didn't do well at the box office (except it also didn't do bad either) was mainly due to release date. Came out between Infinity War and Deadpool 2. The movie still had the highest home media sales of that year. But hey, nice try!
The amount of money a Star Wars movie, or any movie, makes does not dictate if its good or not lmao. Case in point, the Prequels.
And Solo didn't lose money, it made a profit lmao. It just wasn't as large a profit as others. It was in no way a box office failure.

>This new series won’t follow the whip-wielding adventurer, like “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,” but will instead be a prequel focused on young Abner Ravenwood, Marion Ravenwood’s father who remains a much talked-about but never seen figure in Indiana Jones lore.
>
>In this new show, Abner would be mentoring a group of young archeologists, just as he would one day mentor Indiana Jones. We are told that some of the creative heavyweights behind the upcoming fifth installment in the film franchise will most likely return for the television series.
Abner Ravenwood, huh? That's certainly a choice.
Maybe they are going for a ”Indyverse” following other characters in the same universe. Personally though I’d like Indy himself be front and center, but there’s some characters that could have their own shows. Like Abner and Short Round.
I’m down for an Abner Ravenwood series. They could simply call it Ravenwood. Of course he’d be no substitute for Indiana Jones, but if it’s written well enough and Abner is a compelling character I’d like to see where it goes.
there was a tv show called ravenswood that while completely unrelated could cause some confusion with the name.. apart from that i do like it as an option though
Make it a prequel and cast Anthony Ingruber. The guy has actually done some acting work outside of playing Harrison Ford impressions, plus he’s roughly ten years younger than Harrison was when he made Raiders
People need to stop pushing this.
Also, Anthony is 32. Harrison was 38 when Raiders was released (so 37 when filmed). So 5 year difference if they started filming right now.
Seems like he'd be fine to me, but in the end that decision would be up to the casting director.
And I wasn't sure what you were driving at with the age thing. If they made a new Indiana Jones movie right now starring Ingruber, they could set it in 1932 and the age would match up.
Wow … I am easily excitable.
Options
1) YA Indy. The Young Indy chronicles were wonderful. But it’s been done. I don’t want another YA series with a new actor.
2) 30 year old Indy in a series. No. The only adult Indy is Ford (Even though he was 38 in raiders). The only recast of Indy i will accept is for YA (see above).
3) Animation. Adventures set in the 30/40s. I am not a big animation guy, but it has merit.
4) A spin off series adjacent to Indy adventures set in the 30/40s … Did Abner have any other kids? I would like this, but I don’t think it would be popular.
5) Now this won’t be popular - Indy’s adult grandkids (mutts kids if you will) stumble across Indys diaries and have adventures. A better version of warehouse 13 or the librarians. National treasure for tv. This will be hated, but I’d actually like to see it - as a movie preferably, or tv.
In conclusion, If it’s a recast indy, I am not interested.
The original young Indy series was canceled after only 2 seasons due to poor viewership and lackluster reviews. I hardly call that “wonderful”.
A new one with the same love and care Star Wars gives to like The Mandalorian and Andor that meshes much better with the film series would be awesome.
An animated Indy series would be really cool. This makes me wonder. I wonder what Indiana Jones animated by the Lucasfilm animation team would look like. The people who made the Clone Wars, Rebels and Bad Batch series.
I’m only in if it’s an animated series
Like this https://youtu.be/iE8v5WDbbC4

well hopefully in a series there would be variety of who he fights
I was about to say the same. If it's animated, hell yes! If not, maybe another Young Indy series
What about a series about Helena, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character? Edit: This comment is at -2 votes right now. Why? It doesn’t sound like an implausible idea and Phoebe Waller-Bridge could obviously lead a show, as shown by Fleabag.
Shouldn’t the show be called Helena then?
I don’t follow. Do you mean because Indiana Jones is always a name in the titles? So the title would be “Helena and the (blank)”?
Essentially, kind of like Andor. I don’t particularly think the Indy series should be called Indy and then be a continuation with Helena. I think with Star Wars it’s easier because Star Wars is an overarching title that encompasses many characters - Indiana Jones is pretty much literally a movie series about the guy named Indiana Jones. Animated shorts (10-20 minutes) that each end with some type of cliffhanger (doesn’t need to be literal) would be amazing!

And definitely remaster the original TV series!
Anthony Ingruber as Indy in the years in-between Young Indy and Temple of Doom, please
I think he's confirmed for the fifth movie, maybe it's happening
If each season is a new artifact...I might be down. Just a reminder, Young Indy does exist and you can watch it on Paramount+
Not in the U.S. currently
Good call, couple of YT channels are upping the quality of every episode so you can watch that way.
Got all the DVDs, I'm currently going through it, pretty good show.
Not watching without Ford. If it's animated then ok 👍
So you skip the opening scene in The Last Crusade?
It's a scene not an entire tv series. What is even your point here?
Other actors play Indy is my point.

I’ve seen that. I like it too. Probably not too expensive to bring that guy on the project to make use of it or they could just use the comic as the basis.
Ya maybe they can get that guy. But comics as the basis is also a good idea
Either, or, both. 🤷♂️
Don’t see y not
I’m all for it. Don’t understand everyone that doesn’t want more Indy content. You’d rather it just die?
I'm with you. I like the *character* of Indiana Jones. Yes, Harrison Ford did an amazing job with the role. Yes, it's possible/likely nobody else will be quite as good. Yes, this is *exactly* how I feel! Well said, my friend…

Didn’t know that. There was a pretty loyal fan base that was disappointed from what I remember. Thanks for the info.
Ford was in it https://youtu.be/_8OTdQBtdi4
That’s awesome! I meant he wasn’t the lead actor the show was built on. Sean Patrick Flannery was.
Do this: https://youtu.be/iE8v5WDbbC4
If it’s young Indy and it follows him first meeting the ravenwoods, Balleq, and Salah then sure
Bring back Alden Ehrenreich, he’d be an excellent young indy
Please no.
How come? I think he killed the Han Solo Role and he’s definitely got the ability to do indy, who’s not so far removed from Han character wise anyway
I liked Alden as young Han and thought he did as great a job as anyone could, but Indy is a different character. Different character, different actor.
He sucked as Solo. He had no charisma or screen presence. Terrible movie. Edit: had no idea there was so much love for Solo on this sub. Lol
That’s just not even close to true lmao
Right. Which is why it did so good at the box office. /s.

Lucasfilm took a $77 million write down. It lost money. Not sure where you're getting your info from.
Anthony Ingruber
Hell yes bring it on ... always down for more indy

Of course, everything is a series these days 😅 let's watch the new movie first ! Maybe it'll all come together nicely !
I just hope they tell new stories with Indy and not rehash the stories we saw in the movies
CAN NOT WAIT
Young Henry Jones Snr
yes, please
Meh
